Opening Video Package
After the pyro explodes, our commentators, Joey Styles and Tazz, welcome us to the broadcast, hyping up our two main event matches of Batista defending the World Heavyweight Title against The Rock in a steel cage and Mr. Kennedy defending his WrestleMania main event against Kurt Angle.
***X-treme*** The WWE Tag Team Champions, The Hardyz, Matt and Jeff, trot down to the ring and under a couple of ladders, receiving heat from the fans in attendance before sliding into the ring and posing on the turnbuckles with their tag title belts.
***London Calling*** Paul London and Brian Kendrick sprint to the ring at full speed, receiving a nice pop from the crowd in attendance tonight before stepping in. The straps lower from the ceiling and the ref takes the belts from Matt and Jeff before strapping them up. The titles are soon suspended some fifteen - twenty feet up in the air and the bell rings.
WWE Tag Team Championship:
The Hardyz vs. The Hooligans:
The two teams move towards the center of the ring and have a brief staredown before the brawl is on. It’s The Hooligans who gain the early advantage, swinging away on the Hardys before taking Matt and Jeff over the top rope. Soon after, London and Kendrick leap over the top, taking each Hardy out with a plancha!! They then grab one of the ladders and toss it back in, before following in themselves. They set it up in the middle and each begin to climbs a side before Matt and Jeff get back in and pull them down off of the ladder.
Matt grabs London and brings him towards a corner before wailing away on him as Jeff does the same with Kendrick. The two Hardys then begin to climb the ladder but London and Kendrick recover and pull them off. Matt reacts quickly, hitting London with right hands before charging but London dumps him over the top. Jeff and Kendrick brawl as London grabs the ladder and then drills Jeff in the back! London then grabs the ladder and sets it against the corner.
Kendrick tosses Jeff into the ladder and London gets set on his hands and knees. Spanky charges ahead and hit’s the Poetry In Motion on Jeff!! From this point forward, for the next few minutes, the majority of the offense comes from the Hooligans as they utilize a high octane offense using the ladders, including dropkicks, spinning wheel kicks and even a dropsault into a moonsault. The big mistake comes when London goes for a 450 splash onto the ladder but Matt rolls out of the way and he crashes and burns!!
M. Hardy takes advantage and quickly gets up, and drops London with a Twist of Fate onto the ladder, smashing his face!! And now, it’s the Hardys turn to show their prowess with ladders, now having a 2 on 1 advantage against Kendrick. Matt and Jeff hit the Poetry in Motion, Matt’s flying leg drop and even a Swanton onto the ladder all on Kendrick before finally making an attempt to climb the ladder! Matt sets the current ladder up in the ring as Jeff goes to the outside and bring a second ladder in, setting it up next to the first.
Matt and Jeff begin to climb the ladders, about two rungs too low, when London re-enters. He grabs the ladder that Matt is on and tips it over, causing Matt to crotch himself on the top rope! He then comes from behind Jeff and hits him with a couple of shots to the back before getting under him into a Electric Chair situation. He carries him around for a bit as Kendrick gets up to his feet, climbs onto the apron and springboards off, hitting a DOOMSDAY DROPKICK!!
Kendrick lays out on the canvas as London grabs the ladder and smashes a returning Matt in the face, sending him from the ring. Jeff gets up and he gets drilled as well. The Hooligans reset up the ladders and begin to slowly climb. They reach the top but too much time has elapses and the Hardys have regained their wits, also beginning to climb the ladder. On one ladder, Matt Hardy and Kendrick swing away on each while London and Jeff do much of the same.
Kendrick grabs the head of Matt and slams it against the top of the ladder … and again … and once more!! Kendrick then leaps over the top and plants Matt with a SUNSET FLIP SITOUT POWERBOMB OFF OF THE LADDER!!!! That leaves Jeff and London on the ladder, with one right beside them, and the two go at it tooth and nail swinging away on each other. London begins to gain the advantage, hitting several right hands in a row, staggering Jeff.
London then winds up, looking for a huge shot but JEFF JUMPS FROM ONE LADDER TO THE OTHER!!! Jeff regains his balance and then uses his foot to tip the ladder over and LONDON FALLS ALL THE WAY TO THE OUTSIDE!!! Jeff then reaches up and unhooks the belts before falling to the canvas!!!
Winners: Hardys @ 15:33.
Matt and Jeff retain the tag titles and the destruction around the ring is amazing as this war with The Hooligans is finally over, for tonight at least.
Cut to the Backstage area.
We see the arrival of soon to be Raw superstar, Kurt Angle. Angle, dressed in a suit and shades, carries his bag as he walks down the corridor, receiving dirty looks from his soon to be ex-SmackDown! acquaintances. Angle smirks as he finally runs into SmackDown! GM, Stephanie McMahon.
Angle reiterates his comments from SmackDown!, stating that this will be his final night as a SmackDown! superstar before he defeats Ken Kennedy and takes his WrestleMania 23 main event to Monday Nights. Stephanie smiles a bit before stating that while Angle has always been a talented employee, his final night on SmackDown! will not end well.
Steph then puts on her trademark smirk before stating that Angle will leave this sold out arena tonight a loser … loser (imitating Mr. Kennedy) then walks away, leaving Angle to steam before heading down the hall.
Back to ringside.
***Some Bodies Gonna Get It*** ‘The Silverback’ Mark Henry stomps towards the ring, looking as pissed off and ornery as always. The crowd boos the World’s Strongest Man but he pays it no mind as he steps in, ready for a war.
***Slow Chemical*** The crowd gives a nice pop as the ‘Big Red Machine’ Kane walks towards down the entrance ramp and steps in, these two big behemoths coming face to face.
Kane vs. Mark Henry
As is to be expected, the match up doesn’t start off pretty and that’s going to be trend throughout. It commences with Kane and Henry going at it, exchanging mammoth right hands until Kane gains the advantage, backing him up before hitting a shot to the throat. Kane wails away on him before shooting him into the corner, following in, hitting a clothesline. He tries to shoot him in again but its Henry who counters, sending Kane in with force before hitting an Avalanche splash!!
Kane collapses in the corner and Henry stays on the attack, stomping away on him before choking him out with his boot. He then lifts him up and hit’s a couple of scoop slams before settling down into a Bearhug. The crowd begins to grow restless with Henry’s less than innovative maneuvers so Kane decides to speed up the process instead of drawing this thing out. He hits Henry with right hands, breaking the grip before shooting off of the ropes and drilling Henry with a boot to the face.
Henry stumbles a bit but doesn’t go down. Kane shoots off of the ropes and drills him with another boot to the face, sending him tumbling through the ropes. The Silverback gets back up to his feet on the outside as Kane begins to climb the turnbuckle. Once Henry is back to a vertical base, Kane leaps off of the top, wiping Henry out!! The crowd pops at the athleticism of Kane whom stumbles back up to his feet, sadistic smirk on his face.
Kane takes a second or two before attempting to get back into the ring but Henry grabs his leg and Kane looks completely shocked, in awe of the recovery speed of Henry. The Worlds Strongest Man pulls him out of the ring and rocks him with a right hand! Henry then military presses Kane over his head before walking around ringside and tossing the former champion over the barricade, into the crowd!!
Mark Henry soon climbs over the barricade as the ref’s count has now gotten up to eight. The Silverback drills Kane with another right but the Big Red Machine retaliates as the referee hits ten!!
Winner: Double Count Out @7:02!!
The crowd boos the copout finish as Kane and Henry continue to swing away on each other with a fury. The ref calls for the ring bell several times and eventually several security guards manage to get in between the two gigantic superstars. Styles and Tazz put over the fact that this feud is (sadly) not over.
Inside the locker room of the King’s Court, King Booker, Finlay, and the United States Champion William Regal warm up, ready for their Elimination Tag Team Match. Booker hypes up the troops a bit, stating that Mysterio, Lashley and Chavo will pay for their ‘treason’ as of late.
Finlay and William Regal roll their eyes at the ‘royalty’ verbiage from Booker but the three veterans soon get on the same page, somewhat begrudgingly nodding at one another before heading out of the locker room.
Cut to a different part of the backstage area.
The crowd pops huge as we see Mr. Kennedy sitting on a chair inside of his locker room, dressed to compete, wrapping up his wrist in tape. Kennedy seems to be very focused when his room door opens. KK slowly gets up to his feet as the ‘Nature Boy’ Ric Flair walks into the locker room, dressed as smartly as usual. Flair smirks as KK looks completely serious.
Flair mocks Kennedy, telling him that he was warned to take his Royal Rumble win and go to Raw but KK didn’t listen. Now look, he’s been assaulted by Kurt Angle and is about to lose his World Title shot to Angle here tonight. Kennedy responds by saying that he doesn’t plan on losing anything tonight before stating that come WrestleMania, he’ll either beat The Rock or that shaved ape he has for a protégé.
Flair smiles a bit before stating that it’ll be a miracle if Kennedy makes it out of the match with Angle with both legs attached, let alone with his title shot. And even if by the grace of God, he does somehow keep his WrestleMania World Championship match, he’ll be crushed by Batista, who WILL defeat The Rock in the Steel Cage match tonight. Flair then walks away, leaving a steaming Mr. Kennedy behind.
Back to ringside.
***OOO Chavo*** Sub par reaction for Chavo Guerrero makes his way down to the ring, ready to make an impact here tonight. He steps in, climbs the turnbuckle and slaps his chest, ready for this match up.
***Booyaka 619*** Rey Mysterio shoots from under and onto the stage, receiving a great pop from the home state crowd tonight. Mysterio and Chavo hug in the ring as they wait for the third man of their team.
***Soldier*** The crowd gets to its feet and gives a high-quality ovation as the “Real Deal” Bobby Lashley walks onto the stage and sets off his pyro before continuing on down the entrance ramp and down towards the ring.
***Royalty*** King Booker, Queen Sharmell, the United States Champion William Regal and Finlay walk down the ring as a unit while the audience gives tremendous heat to the power ‘group’ of SmackDown.
Six Man Elimination Tag Team Match:
Rey Mysterio, Bobby Lashley and Chavo Guerrero vs.
King Booker(w/Queen Sharmell), Finlay and William Regal:
The match gets kicked off at an incredible pace with Mysterio starting off for his team and Booker doing the same. The Booker man struggles to keep up as Rey runs circles around him, taking him down with a couple of hurricanrana’s. Booker has had enough tagging in Regal, but he gets much of the same treatment as Rey uses his speed advantage to embarrass the United States Champion. He takes Regal down with a head scissors and makes the tag into Bobby Lashley. Regal wants no part of the Real Deal, tagging in Finlay.
Finlay is always willing to fight and shows such, coming right at Lashley, wailing away on the youngster with right hands but Lashley shows his strength, coming right back with shots of his own before taking him up and over with a back body drop. Lashley stays on the attack, backing him into the corner and plowing into him with shoulder thrust and then popping off a belly to belly suplex, going for the cover. 1... 2... No! Both Regal and Lashley break it up but instead of leaving the ring, the two men stay on the attack but clubbing away on Lashley.
Mysterio and Chavo have seen enough, entering the ring, to counteract the interference and send both Regal and Booker out of the ring with simultaneous clotheslines. Rey and Chavo then leap over the top rope and take them both out with double planchas!! Back inside the ring, Lashley lifts Regal up and tosses him into the corner, charging in and going for another shoulder but Regal moves and Lashley’s shoulder smashes the steel turnbuckle!! Regal takes advantage, rolling him up in a school boy. 1... 2... NO!
After a while of Regal continuing to work on the shoulder, the other four men return to their respective corners and Lashley begins to fight back, hitting a couple of hard forearms to Regal’s face before shooting off of the ropes. He comes back and Regal throws a left hand, which Lashley ducks, before coming back and plowing right into the Englishman with a SPEAR!! Neither man can move, Regal in pain and Lashley holding his shoulder. Eventually, both crawl over and Lashley makes the tag over to Chavo and Regal tags in Booker.
Chavo comes in like a house of fire, taking Booker down with a few clotheslines and then following up with a hard DDT! Regal and Finlay both get in and beat down on Guerrero until Mysterio comes in and takes Regal down with Head-scissors! He turns around and Finlay kicks him in the gut before planting him with the CELTIC CROSS!! Lashley charges in and goes to take Finlay out but the Irishman is ready and dumps Lashley out of the ring!
The Fighting Irish Bastard turns right around and into some right hands from Chavo, whom continues to prove his worth in this match up and takes Finlay over the top rope with a clothesline!! With just Booker and Chavo as the only two left moving in the ring, Guerrero plans to finish him off, lifting him up to his feet but Book catches him with a thumb to the eye. Booker then goes for the BOOKEND … but Chavo counters, hitting some elbows and scoops Booker up, hitting a body slam.
Chavo then climbs to the top turnbuckle and leaps off, going for the FROG SPLASH … but Booker rolls out of the way and Chavo crashes and burns. Guerrero gets up holding his stomach and Booker shoots off of the ropes, coming back and goes for the SCISSORS KICK … AND HITS IT!! Booker with the cover. 1... 2... 3!!!
ELIMINATION: CHAVO GUERRERO
BY KING BOOKER @ 6:38.
Booker gets up to his feet and raises his inky into the air to tremendous heat, now having the 3 on 2 advantage. Booker lifts Rey up, whom is still feeling the effects of the Celtic Cross and hammers away on him, backing him up into the corner with hard chops and forearms. He tags in Finlay and the two men go to work, stomping away on him until Booker leaves. Finlay pulls him out of the corner and hit’s a snap mare before leaping up and hitting a seated senton, picking up a near fall. He picks Rey up and shoots him into the corner, charging in but Rey leaps over the top of him and backs away.
Finlay turns and charges but Mysterio uses a drop toe hold and Finlay gets caught up on the ropes. Rey then shoot off and hit’s the 619 to huge pop!! He goes for the West Coast Pop … but Booker grabs his leg and pulls him down onto the apron. He kicks Booker in the gut as Finlay charges. Mysterio reacts quickly spring boarding off of the top and landing back into the ring, tagging in Lashley!! Lashley comes in and the game changes. The big man takes Finlay down with a clothesline and then knocks Booker down from the apron. Regal doesn’t have the same luck as Lashley grabs him and brings him into the ring.
He hits him with hard right hands before shooting him off of the ropes and planting him with a power slam. Lashley plays to the crowd and they applaud the powerful superstar. Lashley goes back after Finlay, lifting him up and backing him into the corner with hard right hands as Booker grabs his SCEPTER from ringside and slides it into the ring. Regal picks it up and walks towards the corner. Lashley turns around and Regal SWINGS IT … AND HITS IT … ON FINLAY as Lashley avoided contact!!!
Finlay collapses out of the corner, unconscious, as Lashley grabs Regal and tosses him over the top rope. Lashley then covers Finlay. Booker tries to break it up but Mysterio catches him with a dropkick before he can get into the ring. 1... 2... 3!!
BY BOBBY LASHLEY @ 12:01.
We’re all evened up with Bobby Lashley and Rey Mysterio against King Booker and William Regal. Booker and Regal argue at ringside, each man telling the other to get into the ring as Lashley stands tall in the middle of the ring. The two men continue to argue as Regal picks up his United States Championship. Booker then shoves Regal, demanding that he get into the ring. Regal looks ready to snap but then a sly smirk comes over his face. Lashley reaches over the top rope and grabs Regal but the Englishman DRILLS HIM WITH THE TITLE BELT!!! The ref disqualifies him as Regal smiles at Booker before walking away.
ELIMINATION: WILLIAM REGAL
BY DISQUALIFICATION @ 13:00.
Booker looks frustrated as Regal is taking his title and heading up the ramp. Realizing that Lashley may be out, Booker gets in and covers him but Mysterio breaks it up. Booker lifts Lashley up and hits him with a couple of forearms shots and tries to shoot him off of the ropes but Lashley counters, sending Book in and then pressing him over his head before slamming him into the canvas. Booker gets back up in pain and Lashley wraps his arms around his waist and drops him with a strong belly to belly throw.
The Real Deal then backs up into the corner and waits on Booker to get back up and then charges, looking for the SPEAR … but Booker moves out of the way and once again, Lashley’s already tender shoulder slams into the steel ringpost!!! Booker rolls Lashley up with a school boy and hooks the tights. 1... 2... 3!! Booker got him as Lashley couldn’t muster up enough strength to kick out with only one good arm.
ELIMINATION: BOBBY LASHLEY
BY KING BOOKER @ 16:55.
Mysterio gets right into the ring, knowing Booker’s back is against the ropes. He backs Booker down with hard rights and shoots him off of the ropes. He comes back and Rey throws a clothesline but Booker counters, looking for the BOOKEND … but Mysterio counters, hitting back elbows and shooting off of the ropes!! Mysterio comes back and Booker takes him down with a spinning back kick! He goes for the cover. 1... 2... NO! Mysterio kicks out!
Booker lifts him back up to his feet, and kicks Mysterio in the gut, bouncing off of the ring ropes and going for the SCISSORS KICK … but Mysterio avoids it and grabs Booker, shooting him off of the ropes. Booker comes back and throws a clothesline but Rey ducks it and springboards off of the middle rope, catching Booker with a crossbody once he comes back, hooking the far leg!! 1... 2... NO! Booker kicks out once again.
Mysterio lifts him up but Booker counters with a thumb to the eye, much to the chagrin of the crowd. He then kicks Mysterio in the gut, grabs his hand, spins it around and rocks him with a hard kick right to the face, taking him down! Booker lifts him up and tries to shoot him in the corner but Mysterio counters, sending Book in. Rey charges in but Booker leaps up and takes him down into a sunset flip!! 1... 2... NO! Mysterio rolls out and both men get back up to their feet.
Book throws a sidekick but Mysterio ducks it, and delivers a kick to Booker’s right shin before following up with three more. He shoots off of the ropes but Booker catches him, but Mysterio counters, hitting a bulldog!! Book gets up holding his face and Mysterio hit’s a dropkick, causing Booker to get on the middle rope. The crowd pops as Rey hit’s the ropes and then hit’s the 619!! He waits on Booker to get up and goes for the WEST COAST POP … but Booker leaps up and delivers a sidekick, right to his face!!
Booker lays out on the ground for a bit before doing the SPINAROONIE right back up to his feet. He goes to grab Mysterio but Rey rolls him up, right into a small package!! 1... 2... NO! Booker kicks out and both men get back up. Booker charges ahead, looking for a clothesline but Rey ducks it, waits for Booker to turn around and then leaps up, snapping off a hurricanrana and hooking both legs tightly! 1... 2... 3!!!
ELIMINATION: KING BOOKER
BY REY MYSTERIO @ 22:59.
Winners: Rey Mysterio, Bobby Lashley & Chavo Guerrero @ 22:59!!
The crowd erupts as Mysterio gets back up to his feet, getting his arms raised by the referee to a huge ovation. Rey then climbs the turnbuckle and shows off before we cut away.
Ken Kennedy walks down a backstage hallway, receiving a great reaction from the fans, as he is apparently on his way towards the ring. Several of the lower card SmackDown! superstars wish Kennedy good luck, not wanting to see a soon-to-be Raw superstar, Kurt Angle, defeat one of their own.
Mr. Kennedy doesn’t really pay them much mind, completely focused on his huge match up next, his WrestleMania 23 World Heavyweight Championship match up on the line. Eventually, something does catch his attention as Kennedy stops dead in his tracks and stares straight ahead.
The crowd goes completely apeshit as Mr. Kennedy stares ahead as THE ROCK comes into view. The audience continues to go wild as Kennedy and The Rock stare into the eyes of each other, Kennedy obnoxiously chewing his gum as The Rock calmly stares at Kennedy through his sunglasses.
Rock and Kennedy slowly nod at one another before KK slowly asks “WrestleMania?” before Rock responds solemnly “WrestleMania”. The two men then smirk a bit before they head off past each other, in opposite directions.
Backstage, in the office of the SmackDown! General Manager, Stephanie McMahon, Steph intently watches her monitor until a knock on the door is heard … and Raw General Manager, Jonathan Coachman, walks into the office, dressed to impress, with a huge smirk on his face.
Steph asks what it is that he wants and Coachman responds by saying he wants a view of Angle and the look on Stephanie’s face when the Wrestling Machine single-handedly dashes SmackDown’s dreams when he beats SmackDown’s golden boy Ken Kennedy and obliterates the SD main event before jumping to Raw.
Stephanie responds by saying that she has the utmost faith in Mr. Kennedy … Kennedy before Coach interrupts, stating that they will soon see before he plops down on Stephanie’s couch.
Back to ringside.
***Turn Up The Tremble*** Mr. Kennedy makes his way down to the ring, receiving an astonishing ovation from this sold out crowd, whom applaud the 2007 Royal Rumble winner. Ken Kennedy steps in and raises his hand into the air, calling for his microphone from the Heavens. Kennedy’s microphone finally lowers and he waits for the crowd to die down before speaking.
The following contest is scheduled for one fall and it is the first time in history that Mister Kennedy and Kurt Angle will meet one on one in this ring … and I will beat him within an inch of his life (Great pop). But more importantly, my WrestleMania main event and my World Heavyweight Title match is on the line. I weigh in tonight at an absolutely astonishing 245 pounds. I wrestle tonight in LOS ANGELES, CALIFORN-IIIII-AAAAA (Loud cheap pop) … MMIISSTTEERRRRRRRRR KKENNNNEEDDDYYYY …
Mr. Kennedy walks over to the corner and climbs the turnbuckle as the crowd chants along.
KEN - NA - DAY!!!!
The crowd pops as Kennedy throws his microphone into the air and he waits for…
***Medal*** The crowd rises to its feet and showers the Olympic Gold Medalist and soon to be Raw superstar, in heat as he steps onto the stage. Kurt Angle looks as intense as always, dressed in his black attire and not even bothering with his pyro. Kennedy calls for Angle to get in the ring before we close in on Angle’s mouthpiece which reads “PAIN”.
WrestleMania 23 World Heavyweight Championship Match on the Line:
Mr. Kennedy vs. Kurt Angle
Somewhat surprisingly, its Kennedy whom starts out the aggressor, coming after Angle with a fury, but Kurt quickly backs up to the edge of the ring and tucks his head between the ropes and smirks, causing the ref to make Kennedy back away. The game between Angle and Kennedy goes on for a while until the Olympic Gold Medalist decides to catch himself a breather, leaving the ring and walking around ringside, continuing to frustrate the Royal Rumble winner.
Finally, Kennedy has had enough and goes after Angle, chasing the Wrestling Machine around ringside. Kurt slides back in and smartly catches Kennedy coming back in, stomping away on him. He lifts him back up to his feet and catches him with some hard punches and then follows up with that deadly European uppercut, knocking KK back into the corner. Angle continues to tee off on him, wailing away on Kennedy with right hands in the corner.
Kennedy has had enough and blocks a shot from Angle, firing back with some rights of his own, getting the crowd into it. But as soon as KK picks up some momentum, Angle cuts him off, hitting his patented belly to belly suplex! Angle goes for a cover but Kennedy kicks out at two. With Kennedy down on the mat, Angle takes the opportunity to set himself up for later, working over the leg/ankle area of Kennedy with simple kicks, before dropping an elbow on it.
Kennedy begins to move away from Angle, and into the corner, looking for a reprieve, but Angle follows him in. KK catches him with a boot to the gut and then pulls himself up to his feet, hitting Angle with a boot to the face. He charges out of the corner and goes for a clothesline but Angle ducks, looking for a German but Kennedy counters, getting behind Angle and hitting Kurt with one of his own German suplexes!! Angle gets back up to his feet and Kennedy takes him down with a clothesline and once Kurt gets back up, takes him down with another.
Kennedy then lifts him up, hitting him with right hands before shooting him off and hitting a Powerslam. He goes for the cover, only getting a two count. He lifts him back up to his feet before tossing him into the corner. KK climbs the turnbuckle and begins to rain down right hands on him until Angle counters, bringing him out of the corner and hitting a Manhattan Drop! Angle then levels him with a clothesline, going for the cover but only getting a near fall. Angle grabs the leg of Kennedy and drags him towards the corner before sliding out.
Angle grabs the left leg of Kennedy and slams it into the steel turn post over and over and over again, really softening it up. Angle slides back in to break up the count before rolling back out and applying the FIGURE FOUR LEG LOCK AROUND THE POST!! Kennedy screams out in pain as Angle slides back in, pulls him towards the center and drops the elbow on the leg. Angle then tops him for a cover but only gets a two count as KK gets a shoulder up, not able to kick out.
Frustrated, Angle gets back up to his feet and pulls down the straps, ready to finish him off. Kennedy hobbles up to his feet and Angle goes for the ANGLE SLAM … but Kennedy lands on his feet, and crumbles to the canvas, unable to pressure on his leg! Angle then grabs him and applies the ANKLE LOCK!! Kennedy yells out but Angle has got it locked in tight. KK crawls for the ropes and gets within an inch but Angle bring him back towards the middle of the ring!!
Kennedy looks ready to tap, lifting his hand up but soon rolls through, sending Angle out of the ring! With this, KK is able to catch a break, resting as Angle struggles on the outside. Kurt finally gets back onto the apron at the count of eight and tries to get back into the ring, sticking his head between the ropes but KK seizes the opportunity and grabs Angle, hitting a DDT!! Kennedy can’t immediately go for the cover, still favoring his leg but soon gets a hand over. 1... 2... NO! Angle kicks out and this match up continues with Kennedy hobbling up and bringing Kurt along.
He lifts Angle up and scoops him up, hitting a body slam before gingerly climbing the turnbuckle. KK has a difficult time steadying himself on the top rope with his bad leg and gives Angle the opening he needs, quickly getting to his feet and shooting up the turnbuckle, hitting a top rope belly to belly suplex!! After a couple of seconds, Angle goes for the cover. 1... 2... NO! Once again, KK kicks out, keeping his WrestleMania hopes alive.
A ‘Kennedy’ chant starts up as Angle gets back up to his feet, fuming but soon turns into a smirk. Angle begins laughing as he stalks Kennedy whom slowly gets back up. Once he does, Angle goes for a STUNNER … but Kennedy grabs his foot and spins him around, before hitting Angle with Kurt’s own ANGLE SLAM!!! Kennedy goes for the cover, hooking the far leg. 1... 2... NO! Angle kicks out and this time, its Kennedy whom is frustrated, yelling at the ref.
Kennedy really gets in his face but eventually turns back to Angle, whom apparently was playing possum as he grabs the foot of Kennedy and puts on the ANKLE LOCK … but KK quickly rolls through!! Both men get back up and Angle throws a clothesline but Kennedy ducks it, reaches back and hit’s the GREEN BAY MEATPACKER!! Both Kennedy and Angle lay out for a bit until KK gets back up to his feet and climbs the turnbuckle, looking for the Kenton Bomb!!
KK gets set, yelling “KENNEDY” out to the heavens but Angle takes his foot and shoves the referee into the ropes, causing Kennedy into the ropes and causing him to lose his balance, straddling the turnbuckle!! Angle gets back up to his feet and climbs onto the apron before climbing the turnbuckle. He swings away on the face of Kennedy, hitting him with a hard right hand … and another and another and another and another; just over and over and over as a limp Kennedy begins to sway on the turnbuckle, almost out of it.
Angle lets out a roar, almost taunting this crowd whom is booing him mercifully but Kennedy drills him with a shot to the gut! Angle keels over and KK puts him onto his shoulders before leaping off and hitting the GREEN BAY PLUNGE!!! The crowd erupts as Kennedy covers him, hooking the far leg! 1... 2... 3!!!
Winner: Mr. Kennedy via pinfall @ 19:42!!
KENNEDY GOES TO WRESTLEMANIA MAIN EVENT TO CHALLENGE FOR THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP!!
The crowd goes completely wild as the referee raises Kennedy’s hand before we cut to the office of the GM and watch as a huge smile comes over the face of Stephanie while Coachman holds his head in his hands.
In the locker room of the King’s Court, King Booker, Finlay and the United States Champion William Regal are at each other’s throats, barking on each other, unbelievably upset about their loss earlier tonight.
Booker especially blames Regal, stating the he showed his true colors and showed how selfish he truly is tonight when he walked out on his teammates. Regal responds, saying its not his fault that Booker got pinned by a midget out there tonight.
Finlay just steams in the corner, ignoring the argument until Regal loudly says it was “Dave’s” fault that they loss the match out there tonight. Finlay immediately snaps, lunging towards Regal and taking him down with a double leg before swinging away on him!!
Finlay just pounds away on the United States Champion as Regal covers his face until Booker finally pulls Finlay off of Regal. Booker berates Finlay, telling him to relax, but Dave hardly pays attention, snatching his arms away and heading out the locker room.
Regal gets back up to his feet, holding his face as he grimaces at the door, incredibly pissed about the events which have just taken place.
Back to ringside.
***Dilated Teens*** The ‘Fallen Angel’ Christopher Daniels enters the arena to a mixed reaction, dressed in his robe and cloth, with his valet Allison Danger carrying his Cruiserweight Championship, showing it off to the crowd.
***Iceman*** The crowd applauds as Dean Malenko walks onto the stage, dressed in his typical ring wear, tape around his wrist as he stares down at Daniels. Malenko is in solid shape, obviously not as good as when he was an active competitor, but that’s to be expected.
The Fallen Angel Invitational:
Christopher Danielson(w/Allison Danger) vs. Dean Malenko:
Much like on SmackDown, the match up starts off with Daniels underestimating Malenko, smirking as the two men circle each other. Each time Malenko goes for a lock up, Daniels ducks under it and catches the Iceman with a nice jab before smirking. Three times this happens before Malenko has had enough, kicking Daniels in the gut and catching him with an arm drag. The Fallen Angel gets back up to his feet so Malenko arm drags him down to the canvas a couple of more times when well placed arm drags. Dean tries to stay on the attack but Daniels sticks his head between the ropes, getting a break before hitting Malenko with a thumb to the eye.
Daniels gets in some offense, hitting forearms to the face, shooting him in before catching him with a knee to the face, going for the cover. 1... 2... NO! He kicks out and Daniels lifts him back up, tossing him in but Malenko flips over, going for a sunset flip. 1... 2... NO! Both men get back up and Daniels throws a clothesline, which Malenko ducks and hit’s a back suplex. Malenko quickly follows up, lifting him up and dropping him with a vertical suplex before going for the cover. 1... 2... NO! Daniels backs away from Malenko, whom follows him in but Daniels grabs him and tosses him through the ropes, out of the ring.
The Fallen Angel follows to the outside and slams Malenko’s head into the fan barricade over and over again, before tossing him back in. Daniels gets onto the apron and hit’s a slingshot elbow drop, going for the cover. 1... 2... NO! Daniels grabs Malenko and shoots him into the corner, following in with a flying forearm shot, pulls him out and then drops him with a strong urinage slam!! Daniels then leaps onto the middle turnbuckle and then to the top, going for the B.M.E. but Malenko rolls out of the way and Daniels crashes and burns!! Daniels gets up holding his gut and Malenko comes from behind him, hitting a chop block!

Daniels throws a boot with his injured foot but Malenko catches it and brings his other leg down on it!! Malenko then locks in the TEXAS CLOVERLEAF!!! The Fallen Angel squirms around on the canvas in pain as Malenko wrenches down on his legs and back!! Daniels crawls for the ropes and gets close but can’t quite reach it. He looks ready to submit but Allison Danger pushes the ropes forward and allows Daniels to grab them, breaking the submission hold!!
Malenko lets go of the Cloverleaf and Allison grabs his hands, pulling him to the outside of the ring. He holds his back and hobbles on his leg as Malenko shoots off of the ropes, going for a baseball slide but Daniels avoids it, gets behind him and drops him with the LAST RITES on the outside!!! The referee begins his ten count and Daniels gets back in the ring at seven. Malenko just manages to get back in at nine. He seems ready to flip off with possibly a crossbody but Allison holds his foot! The Iceman struggles to get his leg free but by the time he does, it’s too late as Daniels grabs the back of his head and tucks him under his arm, hitting a LAST RITES FROM THE TURNBUCKLE!!!
The sick thud that Malenko’s head makes is only the start as Daniels quickly follows up and lifts Malenko back up to his feet before planting him with the ANGEL’S WINGS!! COVER!! 1... 2... 3!!!

DANIELS RETAINS CRUISERWEIGHT TITLE!!
Daniels raises his hand up as Allison Danger snatches the championship from the timekeeper and hands it to the Fallen Angel whom smirks, his impressive Cruiserweight Title reign continuing.
Backstage, a dressed Kurt Angle throws chairs around his locker room, destroying the property in anger, pissed about his loss to Mr. Kennedy as Jonathan Coachman tries to calm him down but its of no use. Stephanie McMahon soon walks in smiling, flanked by several security guards.
(Smiling wildly) Kurt, Coach, you know how much I hated to see you lose that match out there tonight. (Talking to Angle) I guess you’ll be heading to Raw this Monday without a damn thing.
Steph continues to smirk as Coachman looks at Angle, knowing he could snap at a moments notice. Angle slowly walks up to Stephanie’s face as the security officers prepare to stop Angle quickly.
I’m not in the mood, Stephanie, I’M NOT IN THE DAMN MOOD!! So, you say whatever the hell it is you have to say and then get the hell out of my face.
Steph once again smirks, causing Angle to get even more fired up.
Well, since you’ve finished your last match, here on your last night as a SmackDown! superstar, I figured I give you your own personal send off. (Pointing to the guards) I’ve hired these four young gentlemen to escort you and your new General Manager … the hell out of my building.
The crowd pops in the background as two of the security guards each grab an arm of the Wrestling Machine.
(Snatching his arms away) Get your damn hands off me!!
Angle angrily glares at the security guards before scowling at a smirking Stephanie. Angle then looks at Coach.
Lets get the hell out of here.
Angle grabs his bags and he and the Coach storm off pass the security guards and Stephanie McMahon, into the hallway and begin to head towards the exit at the end of the hall.
Can you believe that? Can you believe that?
After all I’ve done for SmackDown!, selling pay per views, bringing the ratings, getting the FX deal, being the absolute greatest World Heavyweight Champion that SmackDown has ever seen, that’s how I’m treated on my final night?
All Stephanie proved was that she runs a second rate show with second rate class that doesn’t know how to treat a true American Hero.
Exactly. That loss tonight means nothing.
Clearly a fluke. We all know that Mister Kennedy isn’t in the same LEAGUE as you are, Kurt, let alone could he beat you without the grace of God.
Oh its true. You know what, who needs SmackDown!? Raw’s my new home now and I’m gonna give Monday Nights greatness that it has never seen before.
Angle and Coach smirk a bit before they head through the doors of the arena and into the parking lot, heading towards a waiting limousine.
I’ve got big plans for your Raw debut. “Kurt Angle’s Welcoming Party”. Its gonna be huge, Kurt. All of the Raw superstars just waiting to show you the proper respect and adulation that a true superstar such as yourself deserves.
That’s what I’m talking about. Pure class for an Olympic Gold Medalist.
The driver opens up the limo door and Coachman steps in. But before Angle can get into the limo…
Angle turns around and gets walloped right across the face with a right hand … from STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN!!! The crowd goes wild as Austin swings away on Gold Medalist, drilling him with hard rights and taking him to the ground, beginning to stomp away on him!! Coachman opens his limo door and sees Austin and quickly closes the door!
Stone Cold Steve Austin:
Naw, I’ma get you too, son!! You’ve been pissin’ me off for a long time!
Austin yanks on the door but its locked.
Stone Cold Steve Austin:
I ain’t through with you yet, son!!
He continues to yank on the door until Angle hits him with a hard shot from behind, taking him down!! Angle then sprints around to the other side of the limo and gets in after a bit of a struggle. Angle slams the door and the limo speeds off before Stone Cold gets to his feet, chasing it for a bit before realizing its of no use. Austin looks angry but soon smirks.
Stone Cold Steve Austin:
Welcome to Raw, you son of a bitch.
The crowd pops huge as Austin continues to smirk before cut away.
Back to ringside.
***Mexicools*** The crowd pops a bit as Super Crazy and Psichosis ride into the arena on their “Juan Deere’s” making their way down the entrance ramp and towards the ring.
***Firestorm*** Shelton Benjamin and Gregory Helms, looking dapper, each man wearing shades as they arrogantly saunter towards the ring, eyeing up the competition of the Mexicools.
SmackDown! Showcase Tag Match:
Shelton Benjamin & Gregory Helms vs. Super Crazy & Psichosis
The pace is set even before the first lock up as Benjamin and Super Crazy will be starting us off. Shelton and Crazy move at a rabid pace, starting with a lock up but Benjamin immediately goes behind and takes Crazy down. Benjamin then floats over, going for a front chancery and for the opening minute or so, Shelton schools Super Crazy in the art of mat wrestling, embarrassing the ECW alumnus. Benjamin and Helms arrogantly laugh until Super Crazy charges forward and takes Benjamin down with a running dropkick to the face!
Benjamin gets back up and Crazy takes him down the exact same way a couple of more times. Crazy then backs him up into the corner and tags in Psichosis. Benjamin quickly rolls away and tags in Helms. The two superstars square off and its Psichosis who draws ‘first blood’, kicking him in the gut, shooting him off and hitting a back body drop. Psichosis tags Crazy back in and the two shoot him off, hitting a double back elbow. Crazy then takes over, lifting him up but Benji hit’s a thumb to the eye and following up with a suplex.
The match up continues to go back and forth in much of the same manner between the two tag teams for the next six to seven minutes until Super Crazy plants Shelton with a DDT. He then climbs the turnbuckles but a distraction from Helms allows Benjamin to kip back up to his feet before leaping to the top rope and planting him with a superplex!!! The two men eventually make it to their respective corners and the hot tags to Helms and Psichosis are made!
Psichosis comes in on fire, taking Helms down with a couple of clothesline and right hands before shooting him off and hitting another back body drop. He then shoots Helms into the corner, charges and hit’s a clothesline before hitting a bulldog!! Psichosis goes for the cover but its broken up by Benjamin. Helms gets up to his feet and he and Shelton double team him until Crazy recovers and grabs Benjamin, hitting him with rights until he takes him over the top rope. Crazy then shoots off of the ropes and flies over the top, taking Shelton out with a corkscrew plancha!!!
On the inside, Helms and Psichosis continue to exchange right hands until Psichosis hit’s a kick to the gut before shooting him off. Helms comes back and throws a clothesline but Psichosis ducks it, goes behind and goes for a German Suplex but Helms lands on his feet and kicks Psichosis in the leg, forcing him to a knee. Helms then shoots off of the ropes, going for The SHINING WIZARD … but Psichosis ducks it and applies a waist lock. Helms performs a quick standing switch, pushes the head of Psichosis down and leaps frogs.
With Psichosis’ head still down, Helms reaches back, hooks the arms before planting him with the VERTIBREAKER!!! Helms turns him over and goes for the cover as Crazy attempts to reenter the ring but Benjamin grabs a hold of his leg. 1... 2... 3!!
Winners: Gregory Helms & Shelton Benjamin @10:31.
Helms and Benjamin pick up the much impressive victory, defeating the popular Mexicools cleanly, dead center in the ring.
Backstage, Josh Matthews stands by with the “Doctor of Thuganomics” John Cena. Matthews asks the typical dumb question, asking Cena if he’s ready for his match up with Chris Sabin coming up next, especially after Sabin beat him in a fluke victory about a week ago.
Cena goes through the motions, saying Chris Sabin is a good cruiserweight and a nice addition to the SmackDown! … mid-card but tonight he’s stomping with the big dogs - THE big dog on SmackDown! and there’s no way in hell that lightning will strike twice for Sabin.
Matthews then asks about The Undertaker and Cena states that as far as he is concerned, he and Taker are even BUT if The Undertaker does get in his business, he’ll out The Deadman six feet under.
Back to ringside.
***Hail Sabin*** The crowd gives a nice pop as Chris Sabin walks down to the ring, ready for one of the biggest matches, if not, the biggest match up of his career; a pay per view match against a two time WWE Champion. Sabin slides in and climbs the turnbuckle, raising his arms to this receptive crowd.
The following contest is a singles match and is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, from Hell, Michigan, he weighs in tonight at 220 pounds … CHRIS SABIIIINNNN!!!
The former Cruiserweight Champion, Chris Sabin pulled off the upset of this very young year by beating John Cena. Even if he had a little bit of help from The Undertaker. We’ll see if he can duplicate that HUGE win her tonight.
Little bit of help, my ass, Styles. The Undertaker distracted Cena and Sabin picked up the lucky win with a roll up. Taker ain’t here tonight to save his ass, so he may be in trouble.
***My Time Is Now*** John Cena makes his way down to the ring, getting an initial mixed reaction but it soon turns into deafening heat. Cena takes his right hand and points it at Sabin in the form of a gun, signalling the end. Cena steps in and puts it right in Sabin’s face, “pulling the trigger” before Sabin slaps his hand from his face, causing Cena to smirk.
And his opponent, from West Newbury, Massachusetts, weighing in at 258 pounds, he is the Doctor Of Thuganomics, JOOOOHNNNNNNN CENAAAAA!!!
Over the past several months, the mean streak and anger of John Cena has really come to the forefront and it culminated when he accidentally eliminated The Undertaker from the Royal Rumble after he was already gone from the match up. Now, The Deadman is out for revenge…
It didn’t help that Cena cost him a potential WrestleMania main event in Raw’s tournament. He FU’d Taker right to hell. I hope Cena is focused on Sabin instead of The Phenom tonight or else he’ll lose again.
John Cena vs. Chris Sabin:
Chris Sabin and John Cena get face to face, nose to nose, before slowly backing away from each other and into their respective corners. The referee calls for the ring bell and the match is officially on. The two superstars move towards the center of the ring and its Cena whom attempts to get the action started first, taking a huge swing at Sabin but he’s ready for it, avoiding the big right hand. Sabin then backs away as Cena continues to come after him, showing the aggression he’s become known for over the past two months or so. Sabin continues to back up into the corner as Cena continues to march forward.
He throws another right hand but Sabin ducks the shot and pounces on the opportunity, hitting Cena with hard right forearms in the corner. Cena pushes him off, trying to regain his wits about him. Sabin keeps on with his tenacity, coming right back at Cena, going for a kick but Cena catches his foot. He flips Sabin, causing the former Cruiserweight Champion to back flip but Sabin lands back on his feet!! Cena charges out of the corner, going for a clothesline but Sabin once again avoids it. When Cena once again turns to face Sabin, the cruiserweight leaps up and catches Cena with a hard roundhouse sidekick to the face, sending Cena stumbling backwards before tumbling out of the ring!!
The crowd pops as Chris Sabin pumps his fist with excitement while Cena makes it back up to a knee at ringside, shaking off the cobwebs. Sabin refocuses, looking to the outside, bopping up and down as Cena gets back up to a vertical base. He finally does and Sabin shoots off of the ropes, leaping over the top and going for a PLANCHA … but Cena catches him!! The Doctor of Thuganomics shows his incredible and very underappreciated strength, catching Sabin in midair before slamming his back right into the steel turn post!!
Sabin plops down to the ground, holding his back as Cena smirks to the crowd, getting their boos in full. Cena rolls back into the ring for a bit, breaking up the count, before rolling back out and going right back after Sabin, lifting him back up to his feet. He grabs Sabin and lifts him up before slamming him into the edge of the ring apron with authority! Sabin grimaces in pain but he gets no time to recover as Cena pulls him back and slams him into the apron again! Cena then tosses Sabin back into the ring before following in himself and going for the cover. 1... 2... NO! Sabin kicks out.
He grabs Sabin and lifts him back up to his feet, shooting him off the ropes. The Doctor of Thuganomics kicks out, plenty of fight left.
Sabin lifts Cena up and shoots him into the corner before charging in himself, leaping up and drills Cena right in the face with a forearm shot! He grabs Cena by the hand again, shooting him into the opposite corner and going for the forearm shot again but Cena lifts him up, before dropping him face first onto the top turnbuckle!! Cena turns a stunned Sabin around and kicks him in the gut before planting him with a Fisherman’s Suplex!! He quickly rolls over and goes for the cover, hooking the leg.
Sabin kicks out and Cena lifts him back up to his feet, knocking him back into the corner with a couple of hard right hands. Cena then delivers a couple of stomps to Chris Sabin’s gut before shooting him into the opposite corner with authority. Sabin leaps up onto the top rope, springboards off and catches Cena right in the face with a springboard dropkick, taking him down!! Sabin quickly crawls over and covers him, looking for the HUGE upset!! 1... 2... NO! Cena kicks out again and that kick out seems to have taken the wind out of Sabin’s sails, as he looks at the referee with a look of desperation. He grabs Cena, lifting him up to his feet before going for the Irish whip. Cena counters and sends Sabin in before bending forward, possibly getting set too early. Sabin makes him pay, delivering a hard kick to the face before shooting off of the ropes. Cena quickly reacts, lifting Sabin up and planting him with a hard SPINEBUSTER!!! Cover!!
Sabin kicks out, barely avoiding the loss. The Doctor of Thuganomics scowls at the referee and slaps his hand together, telling the referee to count faster. He then grabs Sabin and lifts him up to his feet. Cena lifts Sabin onto his shoulders, possibly going for the FU … but Sabin fights off of his shoulders. Back on solid ground, Sabin quickly shoots off of the ropes but Cena takes his head off with a devastating clothesline!!! Cena with the lateral press. 1... 2... NO! Sabin kicks out again and Cena shakes his head in frustration, knowing he should have been able to have put Sabin away by now.
Cena lifts Chris Sabin back up to his feet and kicks him in the gut, before grabbing his hand and shooting him into the corner with tremendous force!! Sabin’s back hit’s the turnbuckle and he immediately falls back to the canvas, still damaged from earlier. The Doctor of Thuganomics lifts Sabin up and places him up on the top turnbuckle, before climbing on the middle turnbuckle himself. Cena looks for a hard right hand but Sabin continues to showcase his incredible elusiveness, sliding down between the legs of Cena and back onto the canvas!
Sabin then shoves the legs of Cena apart, causing the former WWE Champion to straddle the top turnbuckle!! Cena kicks out and Sabin holds his head in his hands, mere seconds away from pulling off the upset. He lifts John Cena back up to his feet and tucks him between his legs, possibly going for a running Liger Bomb … Cena will have none of it, charging forward and backing Sabin hard into the corner. Cena then lowers his shoulder and lowers the boom, drilling Sabin with shoulder thrust after shoulder thrust after shoulder thrust, tearing up his insides! Cena pulls back and rocks him with a couple of hard punches, regaining control of this match up as Sabin’s nice flurry of offense appears to be over.
Feeling confident, Cena begins to slap Sabin in the face, showing a blatant disrespect for his unheralded opponent. Cena then climbs onto the middle turnbuckle and starts to rain down punches on Sabin as the crowd counts along. One … Two … Three … Four … Five … Sabin grabs Cena and charges out of the corner, planting him with a RUNNING LIGER BOMB!!!!
…T … NO!
Cena barely kicks out and the crowd reacts accordingly at first, shocked, before booing the crap out of the former WWE Champion. This time though, Sabin stays focused, instead of getting dejected, walking over to the corner. Sabin walks out onto the apron and begins to climb the turnbuckle, getting set while he waits on Cena to recover and get back onto his feet. He sits up against the bottom rope and stares at Sabin, nodding a bit in acknowledgement of Sabin’s great performance before smirking, getting back up to his feet and raising his hands in the air with the “Word Life” sign while the crowd gives tremendous heat.
John Cena pulls out the win in a very tight one here tonight. And you have to take your hat off to Chris Sabin for once again proving that he deserves to be in that ring with a former multi-time WWE Champion.
No doubt, no doubt, Chris Sabin here tonight proved that the first time wasn’t a fluke. He’s got big things in his future but in the end it was the Doctor of Thuganomics who-

Romero tries to conduct the interview but Daniels snatches the microphone and immediately puts himself over, calling himself the greatest Cruiserweight Champion of all time, citing his wins over Chris Sabin, Jamie Noble, Kid Kash and Dean Malenko as of tonight.
The Fallen Angel then states his superiority to every cruiserweight in the history of the sport, from Ultimo Dragon, to Jushin Thunder Liger, to Dean Malenko, to Chris Sabin and Rey Mysterio. Daniels then states that none of those wrestler can touch him in any category.
The crowd pops as REY MYSTERIO comes in to screenshot, getting into Daniels face. Mysterio talks about the disrespect and arrogance that Daniels has shown since he came to the WWE and says he needs to respect the past.
Daniels immediately responds, saying that Mysterio needs to lose the lover handles and return to the Cruiserweight Division, so Daniels can expose him for the overrated wrestler that he is. Rey Rey retorts, stating he’s moved on from the division and has nothing to prove.
The Fallen Angel smirks before smiling and walking away arrogantly, leaving a contemplating Rey Mysterio behind.

The crowd begins to stir as Dave Batista and The Rock, champion and challenger, stare at each other from the across the ring, Rock looking confident, Batista looking angry but focused. A “Rocky” chant starts up as the two men begin to move towards the center of the ring, closing in one another, before moving face to face with one another. The “ROCKY” chant grows even more and causes Batista to smirk as he looks at the crowd. The Animal backs up, holding his hands up and backing off … before throwing a huge right at The Rock. Rock quickly ducks the right hand and fires off several of his own, bringing this crowd up to its feet as the action kicks off!
Rocky rocks The Animal with right hands, backing him up against the ropes. Rock grabs Batista by the hand and goes to shoot him off of the ropes but Batista refuses to be moved, showing his incredible strength. Rock tries again but Batista won’t move and then makes his own move, shooting Rock off the ropes. The Great One comes back and takes Batista down with a clothesline, to a nice pop! Batista stumbles over towards the corner, resting against the turnbuckle and The Rock follows him in, delivering a kick to his stomach before following it up with a strong right hand.
Rock grabs Batista by the hand and shoots him into the opposite corner before charging in and slamming into him with a clothesline! Rock takes a second, spitting through the steel cage bars … but that’s all the opening that The Animal needs. Batista grabs The Rock and charges into the opposite corner with tremendous ferocity! Batista then lays into The Rock with strong shoulder thrusts, rocking the number one contender over and over and over and over again! Dave Batista then backs up as Rocky attempts to catch his breath, holding his gut while Batista smirks a bit.
He pulls back and its Rock with a right hand before laying into the Great One with two more right across the head. Batista grabs the hand of the People’s Champion and shoots him into the opposite corner, before charging in but Rock gets both of his feet up and into the face of the Animal, knocking him back! Batista stumbles towards the middle of the ring and Rock charges out of the corner, looking for a clothesline but Batista reacts quickly, planting The Rock with a Powerslam!! He then hooks the far leg. 1... 2... NO! The Rock gets up, holding his back as he backs into the corner.
Batista follows him in and throws a right but The Rock blocks it and fires off a right, rocking Batista. Rocky then follows up with another shot and then a couple more going for the ‘spit punch’ but Batista catches him with a strong knee to the gut. The Animal then grabs Rock and tucks him between his legs … going for the DEMON BOMB early in the contest but Rock fights out of it, getting from between his legs and popping him with a couple of right hands. Rock hit’s a kick to the gut and then grabs Batista by the back of the head and attempts to throw his head into the cage … but Batista counters, hitting a couple of back elbows and creating some space as Rock holds his gut.
Batista comes back at Rock, going for a boot but Rock catches his foot, before spinning him around and lighting Batista up with hard right hands. Rock bounces off of the ropes and charges at Batista but The Animal lifts him up and drives Rock’s face into the STEEL CAGE!!! Rock plops back first onto the canvas, holding his face after smacking the steel and Batista rests himself against th ring ropes. From ringside, Ric Flair continues to make an impact on the matches of Batista, telling The Animal to stay on him. Batista listens to the veteran and mounts Rock, raining down right hand, after right hand, after right hand onto the uncovered face of the number one contender!
Batista gets onto his feet and lets out an animalistic roar, garnering tremendous heat from this hostile crowd, as The Rock rolls onto his stomach, crawling towards the ropes. Batista walks beside Rock and kicks at his head, showing his blatant arrogance before lifting the Great One up to his feet. He looks Rock dead in his eyes before grabbing him, running forwards and slamming his face into the steel cage again!!! Rock falls down to the canvas, motionless, and this time Batista tops him, putting his forearm into his face. 1... 2... NO! The Rock kicks out and Batista covers him again, this time, hooking the far leg. 1... 2... NO! The Rock kicks out again and Batista looks at the referee, slapping his hands together with anger, calling for a three count.
Batista sighs to himself before grabbing The Rock and lifting him back up to his feet. The Animal rears back and throws a right hand but The Rock blocks it, rocking Batista with a hard right hand. Batista shakes it off and throws another right hand but Rocky once again blocks it, hitting Batista with one of his own. Rock then takes control, hitting The Animal with a couple of hard shots before grabbing his hand and attempting to shoot him off of the ropes but Batista counters, sending The Rock end. Rock comes back and Batista lifts him up, going for a SPINEBUSTER … but The Rock gets onto the shoulder of Batista and rolls him up into a sunset flip! 1... 2... NO! Batista kicks out!
The two men get back up to their feet and Batista levels The Rock with a NASTY CLOTHESLINE, damn near taking The Rock‘s head off!! Batista with the cover, hooking the far leg! 1... 2... NO! Rock kicks out again but he’s clearly being worn down by the high impact offense of the World Heavyweight Champion. Batista takes another deep breath, keeping his composure as he lifts The Rock up to his feet. Batista moves away from attacking the head, instead, applying a Bearhug, locking his massive arms around the waist of The People’s Champion. A “Rocky” chant starts up as Batista applies the squeeze on The Rock, attempting to drain the life out the #1 contender.
The crowd continues to cheer, trying to will The Rock out of this hold and towards the World Title but it seems of little use at the moment, as Batista squeezes the life out of him. The referee checks on Rock whom seems to be fading and the ref grabs the arm of the number one contender, checking for any signs of life. He lifts him arm up and it falls back down limp, as Ric Flair nods his head at ringside, ready for Big Dave to put this one away. The referee lifts Rock’s hand up once more and … once more it falls down to his side, limp. Another “Rocky” chant starts up as Batista almost salivates, feeling the fight is gone from The Rock. The referee once again lifts the hand up again - the final time, one way or another and … IT FALLS … but The Rock quickly brings it back up, life left inside of the heart of the People’s Champion!!
Rock lifts his arms up and drills the top of Batista’s dome with a hard elbow, stunning The Animal and loosening his grip. Seeing the positive effects, Rock hits another … and another … and another … until Batista’s hold is finally broken!! With his body now freed, Rock pulls back and just tees off on Batista, leveling the World Heavyweight Champion with hard right hands, three in succession, before rearing back as far as he can go, spitting on his hand and drilling Batista, taking him down!! Batista gets up, clearly wobbling, and The Rock charges ahead, taking him down with a clothesline!! The Animal gets back up and The Rock takes him down with another clothesline! Rock grabs Batista, lifting him up to his feet and shooting him off of the ropes. The Animal comes back and The Rock throws a clothesline, which Batista ducks, shooting off of the ropes once more but Rock catches him on the way back, hitting a SAMOAN DROP!! Rock reaches back and grabs a leg, leaning on Batista.
Batista manages to kick out but it’s clear that the Great One is the man in the driver’s seat, all the momentum on his side, as he lifts Batista back up to his feet. The Rock grabs the hand of Batista and shoots him into the ropes. He gets set too early though and Batista makes him pay, kicking him square in the face, before dropping to his knees and delivering a shot to the throat of The Rock! He gets back up to his feet and grabs a stunned Rock and shoots him into the corner. Batista comes charging in, looking for a splash possibly, but The Rock moves out of the way and Deacon Dave’s chest slams into the turnbuckle!!
Batista slowly backs out of the corner, holding his chest and The Rock grabs The Animal by the back of his head and slams his face into the steel cage!!! Batista doesn’t go down and the Great One grabs his head again, before charging to the opposite side and slamming his face into the steel cage again!! Batista falls to the canvas and The Rock slaps away at his chest, receiving an incredible ovation for those in attendance. The camera focuses in on the face of Batista and the crowd actually begins to cheer as the BLOOD begins to pour from the face of the World Heavyweight Champion!
Batista is clearly in trouble now as he struggles to recover, holding his hand out, trying to get back up to it’s feet but it’s of no use as The Rock shows some of the viciousness that we have not seen in a long time, mounting Batista and hammering away on the face of The Animal!! Rock rains down hard shot after hard shot on the bloody face of Batista. The Nature Boy goes nuts at ringside, cursing and swearing away at the actions of The Rock, taking his suit jacket off and throwing it down to the ground. Rock gets off of Batista and back up to his feet before pulling his hand back, threatening Naitch with a back hand, making the sixteen time World Champion flinch, receiving a great ovation and several laughs.
Rock then walks back over to the champion and attempts to lift the dead weight up to his feet … but receives a LOW BLOW for his efforts!! Rock falls down to the canvas, holding himself and the crowd boos, Batista biding himself a little time to recover as he wipes the blood away from his face. Both men struggle to get back up to their feet but its Batista whom is up first. The Animal stares around at the crowd, blood still running down his face and then lets out another roar, unfazed!! He angrily walks over to The Great One … but The Rock grabs him and … ROCK BOTTOM!!!! The crowd goes completely apeshit as both superstars lie on the canvas, worn out. Rock finally manages to crawl over onto Batista and gets a hand onto his chest!
Batista barely manages to get a shoulder up, saving this match up and his World Heavyweight Championship. An additional “Rocky” chant starts up as The Rock stares at the referee, almost as if to say “give me a break”, before getting back up to his feet. He looks into the crowd, getting another nice pop and then refocuses on The Animal and gets set once more. The Rock stalks Batista as the champion struggles up to his feet, on spaghetti legs. Batista turns around and The Rock goes for another ROCK BOTTOM … but Batista fights out of it, hitting the Great One with hard elbows to the side of his head!! Rock holds his head but regains his wits about himself and charges at The Animal but Batista quickly reacts, lifting The Rock onto his shoulder! The bloody World Champion charges forward and slams The Rock’s face into the steel cage like a lawn dart!!!
The crowd groans as Rock falls off of Batista’s shoulder and down to the canvas. Rock crawls over onto his stomach, holding his face as Batista holds his back, still showing the effects of that Rock Bottom. The camera closes in on the face of The Rock to show that he too now has been BUSTED OPEN!! The Animal smells blood in the water and he lifts the bloody People’s Champion up to his feet and brings The Rock over to the corner before grinding his blood-splattered face against the steel cage!!! Styles and Tazz put over the goriness and brutality of this match up as both superstars now wear crimson masks on their faces. Batista flings the bloody challenger down to the ground, before getting down onto his knees and applying the cover, forearm to the face. 1... 2... NO! Rock gets his shoulder up and Batista shakes his head in frustration.
Batista gets back up to his feet and wipes the blood from his face before lifting the bloody Rock up to his feet and tucks him between his legs, once again going to finish this match with the DEMON BOMB! Batista lifts The Rock up and manages to get the Great One up onto his shoulders but The Rock fights, hitting Batista with hard shots to the face!! Batista begins to lose his balance and stumbles backwards, towards the steel cage. Rock reacts quickly and grabs a hold of the cage!! The crowd begins to come alive at The Rock begins to ascend to the top of the cage!! Batista quickly follows, climbing up the cage. Rock fights him off, kicking at the bloody face of Batista but The Animal still manages to get side by side with The Rock. The two men exchange somewhat weak punches, trying to maintain their balance. Both Batista and The Rock decide to go for somewhat solid footing, climbing down a bit and landing on the top rope. The two men continue to exchange right hands but Batista leaps down into the ring and shakes the top rope, causing Rock to lose his balance and straddle the top rope!!!
The men in the audience feel the pain of The Great One as he scrunches his bloody face up in pain. Batista shoots off of the ropes and delivers a NASTY KICK TO THE HEAD OF THE ROCK, SMASHING HIS HEAD BETWEEN HIS BOOT AND THE CAGE!!!! The crowd groans with anxiety and concern as The Rock goes limp and falls down to the canvas motionless. Batista gets down onto his knees and applies the lateral press.
THE ROCK BARELY GETS A SHOULDER UP!!! The crowd goes absolutely wild as Batista stares at The Rock in complete and absolute shock. The Animal grabs Rock, lifts him back up to his feet and grabs his hand, going to shoot him off of the ropes but miraculously Rock counters, sending Batista in. Batista comes back and throws a clothesline but Rock ducks it and Batista bounces back once more, getting planted with the SPINE ON THE PINE, Rock’s variation of the spinebuster!!! The crowd goes wild, knowing what comes after the patented move but a bloody Rock lays motionless, next to an equally motionless and equally bloody World Heavyweight Champion.
Another “Rocky” chants starts up as both men begin to crawl towards the ring ropes, using them to pull themselves back up to a vertical base. Finally, the both make it back up and turn around to face each other. Batista musters up enough strength and charges at The Rock but Rocky catches him with another SPINE ON THE PINE!!! Rock gets back up to his feet, clearly unstable but still ends up at the head of Batista and takes his elbow pad off before taking it off and flinging it away. The crowd pops as Rock hit’s the ropes on each side before coming back, going for THE PEOPLE’S ELBOW … but Batista rolls out of the way!!!
The Animal gets back up to his feet and throws a clothesline but Rock ducks it, scoops Batista up and plants him with a body slam, dead center of the ring. Rock once again hit’s the ropes, going from side to side, and again goes for THE PEOPLE’S ELBOW … AND HITS IT!!! The crowd pops huge as Rock lays out on the canvas for several seconds before covering Batista, barely managing to grab a hold of the far leg!!
BATISTA KICKS OUT!!! The Rock can’t even react in shock, almost too worn out to move a single muscle. Rock gets off of Batista and rolls onto his stomach, beginning the long hard journey to the door of the steel cage. Rock uses his forearms to crawl towards the door as Batista lies motionless on the canvas. The referee unhinges the door and holds it open as The Rock begins to inch closer and closer to the door and to the World Heavyweight Championship. Rock is inches away … BUT RIC FLAIR DRILLS THE REF WITH A RIGHT HAND!!!
The audience boos the crap out of Flair as he closes the steel cage door and holds it closed!! Rock’s bloody face fills with anger as he stares at the smirking Nature Boy. Rock struggles up to his feet and the two icons begin to talk trash but unknowingly to the Great One, Batista begins to get back up to his feet!!
Flair lets out a “WOOO”, which is reciprocated by the fans as Batista just waits for The Rock to turn around. Rocky finally does and Batista charges ahead, looking for a clothesline but Rock ducks it!! The Animal turns around and throws a kick at The Rock but the People’s Champ catches it, before talking a bit of trash. Rock then snaps Batista off with a leg lace takedown … before locking in a SHARPSHOOTER!!!
Batista yells out in pain as The Rock has the devastating submission maneuver locked in! The crowd cheers the People’s Champion on as Batista raises his hand up, ready to tap out!!! The Animal screams out “RIC! RIC” over and over again as the Nature Boy walks over towards the announce table, kicks Tony Chimel from his seat and grabs a STEEL CHAIR!!
Flair walks back around ringside and steps into the ring, steel chair and all. He lifts it up … but The Rock quickly turns around, locking eyes with the Nature Boy!! Flair drops the chair and holds his hands up, begging off with a smile on his face, acting like nothing has happened. Rock lets out a phony smile before lighting Flair up with right hands and then delivering a spit punch right to Flair!! Naitch puts his hands up, ready for more … before Flair Flopping down to the canvas, receiving a thunderous pop!!
Rock stares down at Ric for a bit before turning around … and right into a SPINEBUSTER!!! The crowd fills the building with heat as Batista crawls over and lays across The Rock, hooking the leg!!

A “Rocky” chant starts up as Batista gets off of The Rock and Ric Flair gets back up to his feet. Naitch quickly examines his surroundings before grabbing the hands of Batista and dragging him towards the steel cage door! Flair steps out of the ring, down the steps and continues to drag Batista towards the door and towards freedom as The Rock lies motionless, no way to stop this charade of a finish from happening!!
Suddenly, the crowd goes completely wild as KEN KENNEDY sprints down to the ring!!! Mr. Kennedy grabs Flair, breaking the grip between him and Batista, and then lays into the Nature Boy with right hands to a rousing ovation. Kennedy rocks Flair causing Naitch to stumble further and further up the entrance ramp and into the backstage area!! Kennedy soon follows and both Flair and KK disappear from sight, leaving Rock and Batista as the only two men who will determine the outcome of this World Heavyweight Title match up.
Batista continues to try to exit the cage door, actually getting his HANDS ON THE FLOOR … BUT ROCK GRABS HIS FOOT!!! The crowd continues to go wild as Rock pulls with everything he has and brings the Animal back into the blood-stained ring!!! Rock plops back down onto his ass before struggling back up to his feet. He grabs Batista and lifts him up to his feet and then … WHAM!!!! BATISTA TAKES HIS HEAD OFF WITH A STEEL CHAIR SHOT!!!! The crowd boos as Styles and Tazz put over the awareness of Batista to grab the steel chair Ric Flair never got to use. The Animal then continues to pull his own bloody carcass towards the door. He reaches through the door and he gets his HANDS ON THE FLOOR … BEFORE PULLING THE REST OF HIS BODY TO THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAGE!!!!!
Winner: Batista by escape of the cage at 18:39!!
BATISTA RETAINS THE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP!!
Batista lays on the outside of the ring, blood completely covering his face as Rock is almost in the same position, covered in blood as well, on the inside. The referee exit’s the ring, grabs the World Heavyweight Championship and places it onto the chest of Batista, whom finally begins to make it back up to his feet and is soon able to head back up the entrance ramp.
One of the most brutal encounters that I have ever seen in my career as a commentator. Each man gave it everything they had but in the end Batista, Ric Flair and a solid steel chair was just too much for The Rock to overcome.
By hook or crook, Batista has managed to retain the World Heavyweight Championship and now he’ll be heading into the grandest stage of them all, WrestleMania 23 as THE man, the top wrestler in this business.
Our WrestleMania main event is set - and what a main event it is. Batista defends his World Championship against the 2007 Royal Rumble winner Mister Kennedy … Kennedy.
Lets make it clear to everybody at home, this match up could’ve went either way on several occasions. It took everything in Batista’s arsenal and MORE to beat The Rock here tonight. The People’s Champ has nothing to be ashamed of.
The Rock finally gets back up to his feet in the ring, using the ring ropes to keep his body up. No fan has even left the arena yet as they all stand on their feet and applaud the effort that The Rock put forth tonight. With blood in his face, the usual cool, smooth and confident demeanor of The Rock drops and Rock shows his humility, raising his hands up to the fans in attendance, appreciative of the tremendous reaction he’s getting tonight…
***TIME TO PLAY THE GAME***
The crowd gives a thunderous ovation as The Game Triple H steps out onto the stage area, dressed in a pair of jeans, a shirt, a leather jacket … and a SLEDGEHAMMER!! Triple H slowly and methodically walks down the ramp, never taking his eyes off of The Rock, whom stares right back, face a crimson mask. One of the referees tries to stop The Game but he’s put off by a simple look, almost freezing in fear as the look on Helmsley’s face lets everyone know that the mood has changed.
Triple H climbs the ring steps and walks through the cage door, closing it behind him. Rock and Hunter stare at each other from across the ring, almost polar opposites of each other, Rock, dressed in a pair of tights and knee pads, bloodied, breathing heavily, slumped over from fatigue and on the other side, Triple H, fully dressed for the cold weather, focused rage as he stares directly ahead.
The Game takes a step toward Rock but the Great One puts his hand up and into the face of Triple H. The crowd loses its mind as Rock turns his hand around and tells the King of Kings to “Just Bring It!” Bad move. Hunter more than obliges, dropping the sledgehammer and drilling Rock with a right hand. Rocky manages to fight back for a bit, exchanging right hands with Helmsley but eventually, the blood loss and fatigue is just too much to overcome as Hunter just lays into him with hard right hand after hard right hand!
The Rock finally drops down to the canvas and Triple H mounts him, raining down hard rights onto the already busted up People’s Champion. Triple H lifts The Rock up to his feet before slamming him into the steel cage!! Triple H doesn’t let The Rock fall down to the ground, instead, slamming his face into the opposite side of the cage!! The Rock falls down to the ground limp. The King of Kings grabs his sledgehammer from off of the ground and begins to kick away at the face of The Rock until he sees some movement.
After about a dozen seconds, Rock finally begins to move, grabbing a hold of Triple H in order to pull himself up. Hunter’s expression hasn’t changed at all, one of focus, hidden rage, almost … a blankness as Rock uses Triple H to pull himself up. He finally does and Hunter backs up before drilling him right in the sternum with the damn sledgehammer!!! Rock keels over in pain before HUNTER CRACKS HIM RIGHT IN THE SKULL!!! With that shot, Rock doesn’t move an inch, completely unconscious.
Several security guards trot down to the ring and Hunter sees them, moving towards the cage door. Trips closes the door before pulling a steel chain out of his pocket and locks the door!!! A few security guards call for the cage to be raised but nothing happens. Hunter grabs the steel chair and sets it up in the middle of the ring. He then grabs The Rock and lifts his limp body up but Rock falls back down to the canvas lifeless. Hunter grabs him again and quickly sticks him between his legs and quickly hooks the arms. Triple H then leaps up and hit’s the PEDIGREE ON THE STEEL CHAIR!!!
The crowd can’t even bring themselves to boo The Game, sitting there in a stunned silence, unlike our commentators whom scream at the top of their lungs to raise the damn steel cage. The security guards try ferociously to remove the chain from the door, but its of little to no use. Triple H then grabs the steel chair from under The Rock’s head and puts it onto the top of Rock’s skull before picking up the sledgehammer!! With that, everyone comes alive, pleading for Hunter to think about what he’s doing, possibly ending a man’s career, if not worse.
OH MY GOD, DON’T DO IT!!!
WOULD SOMEBODY RAISE THE DAMN CAGE UP!!!
Triple H measures him up, raises the sledgehammer up and … BRINGS IT DOWN WITH ALL OF HIS FORCE, SMASHING THE ROCK’S HEAD WITH THE SLEDGEHAMMER ONTO THE CHAIR!!!! The crowd lets out a terrified gasp but soon goes almost completely silent as Hunter closes his eyes in ecstasy, as Rock lays bloody, unconscious and damn near dead. The camera goes around the arena, catching several younger kids in attendance balling their eyes out, crying, before we fade out to black.
END OF SHOW
Note: Hunter’s blow is caught from such an angle where it looks like he connected full blast with the hammer but obviously that’s not possible and he hit the very edge of the chair, avoiding Rock‘s head.
