Unforgiven Review

The opening was great. The commentators put the show over well, and I enjoyed the opening video bit.

JBL v Benoit: Awesome start the show. I thought this match told a great story, and it was very easy to read. Good to see Benoit get the victory in the end. I liked the finish, as it pretty much guarantees that the feud will continue for a little while longer.

Great promo with Orton. Very much in character, put over his match with Flair well.

Mickie v Trish: I’m not a big fan of women’s matches, but I have to admit I enjoyed this one. I dare say the feud will continue out of this one as well,

The No Mercy promo was great, but I thought you might have saved it till a bit later in the show, but none the less, it was awesome.

Big Show v Undertaker: Good match, another one that told a great story, but I was expecting it to be longer than what it was. I enjoyed the ending with the last ride and it was good that you made Taker to look so strong. Good match in the end, looking forward to Taker v Benoit.

I’m not sure about the backstage segment with the Rated R Army. Just furthered the Nitro/Doane situation.

I absolutely loved the promo with RVD and Fonzie. Best part of the show thus far. They were both in character; it was so simple that it was great!

The 6 pack challenge was absolutely brilliant. I was shocked to see RVD get eliminated so early, but he didn’t come out of it looking weak which is good. The Doane/Nitro situation obviously escalated which is cool, I loved that, and I was surprised to see Carlito win, as I was expecting Doance to pick up the win. Great match. MOTN so far!

Stone Cold/JBL, definitely the biggest shock thus far. Didn’t expect that. The JBL promo was great, but Austin, woah, was not expecting him there, I was waiting for him at some stage, but this was great. Please tell me you’re building towards an Austin/Bradshaw feud. The commentary here was tops too, with JR very much in chaacter.

The Edge/McMahon promo gets you wondering what Vince will do in the Main Event, looks like Michaels will pull out an underdog type victory here.

Orton v Flair was yet another great match. I loved how it took heaps for Randy to beat Naitch. Flair’s fighting nature is put over to great effect here. Great match, with Orton further establishing the Legend Killer gimmick.

Quick plug for Raw tomorrow night, fair enough.

Umaga beats the crap out of the hardcore legend, with some brutal power moves and some hardcore moves too. The definitely strengthens Umaga’s character, having him beat the crap out of a bloke that’s taken some severe beatings in the past and walked out of them, but then have Umaga beat the fuck out of him, with Foley getting taken out on a stretcher, was great!

Benoit v Undertaker, perhaps tarnished by what happened with Umaga and Foley. Great match. Benoit showing his true fighting spirit. Taker goes over, but Benoit goes close plenty of times with a few near falls. Great match again, good chemistry between the two. Would like to see them shape off again.

Edge v Michaels. Well I expected Michaels to win, and I expected Hunter to interfere, but not in that sort of fashion. I was expecting it to be more predictable than that. I was guessing that a 2nd referee would come in, but no. Big finish to the match, probably continues the feud and McMahon will definitely have plenty to say about it on Raw. I surprised that Vince didn’t make many fast counts during the match either.

Over all, great show man, the 6 pack challenge definitely my favourite. Very well done, very well structured and very easy to read. Well-done mate.

Re: WWE 2006 & Beyond by ddmrko

Ddmrko’s Unforgiven review:

The opening video served it’s purpose hyping the show and it was actually a very entertaining video imo, good job already.

Then the opening contest, Chris Benoit vs. JBL a sure to be great match, and I hope it doesn’t disappoint. And it sure didn’t disappoint, no sir . A very technically based match, and I can’t say I’m not a fan of those kinds of matches. The match had it fair share of spots too though, still making it a very interesting read for a varied public. JBL taps out after a minute or two struggling to get out of the Crippler’s crossface, very good job on this match!

*Solid Randy promo right here that captured his heel persona well, good job.*

Wow, very solid Women’s Title match! I always enjoy a well written women’s match and yours was indeed a very well written match. You managed to keep the suspense up with a lot of near falls and both women kicking out of their respective signature moves. But Mickie gets the win after all, good job yet again.

Nice hype-up video of Angle-Tista II, this should be a classic, cause truth be told, in BTB, Batista can be made good!

That wasn’t…that couldn’t be? Oh it’s Stone Cold alright!

Now the next contest is going to be hard. You’ve got Taker, one of the biggest legends, you’ve got Show the biggest athlete, but not that good in the ring. To top that, Heyman is in Show’s corner! I have no idea who’ll pick up the win, but I hope this’ll be an action packed match! Wow, amazing how good of a contest you managed to pull out of these two! Show dominated most of the match even hitting two signature moves! But Taker overcomes the odds and nails him with the Last Ride to advance to the finals. Taker/Benoit should be a classic!

Rated R Army? Sounds catchy but Rated R-my would’ve worked better imo . Good promo though and I have to believe one of them will win the title tonight.

I can honestly say I have no clue who bill alfonso is . And it looks like RVD has developed some sort of new character? Well, it suits him well tbh, so I don’t mind. Good promo

A six-pack elimination match, involving THOSE superstars, that can only mean one hell of a match! Well the first part of it was already full of action, with Masters being the first one to get eliminated! And then Masters goes wild with the steel chair and RVD is eliminated! Great spot! The match goes on for a good while between Carlito and Mercury who seem to have some sort of chemistry. But then Doane takes advantage of the Superplex, wonderful! Great way for Mercury to get eliminated as we’re down to the last three! The match starts to get really interesting as all three men kick out of near pin falls. And then we get down for some dirty work. Melina wants to hit Carlito with the title, but hits Nitro instead! Doane, being the opportunist that he is, takes advantage and nails both men with his signature leg drop, eliminating Nitro! There WILL be a new champion, but who’ll it be? Doane takes out Nitro and Melina but is met with the Backcracker! And Carlito wins as it’s all over! Carlito’s the champ and I can honestly say I never saw it coming!
Oh and it looks like there’ll be a face turn for Melina and Nitro. A nice Doane-Nitro feud seems to be in the making and I can’t say I’m not excited about that .

BY GAWD, KING, STONE COLD, STONE COLD, STONE COLD! He’s back, and I love it. Best promo of the night so far, without a doubt. The searching for his middle finger was hilarious! Now I only wonder what’s in store next, for the rattle snake?

Good promo by Vinnie Mac(no pun intended ) as well. He seems to call it down the middle, but he’ll always be a Mcmahon and everything points into the direction of Edge winning the match!

And now the legend vs. legend killer and you’ll have to believe Flair won’t be taking this one.
Wow Orton amazes me with keeping up with Flair on the technical part, but surpassing him on the cheating part! . This match was better than I expected and I salute you for it. Orton hits the RKO but he lets go of the lateral press?! And then the Texas Cloverleaf, surely Naitj will submit! BUT HE REACHES THE ROPES! Flair is still in this one, but is met with the RKO. Orton gets the expected victory. Good match.

A match for Raw being made on a PPV? Rare, but it’s going to be a good match, so I’ll let it be this one time .

Oh My God! Breath-taking, simply breath-taking promo right here. Umaga PWNS Foley, those two retards and mister no-pop! Umaga stabs Duggan in the throat with a broken piece of wood? THAT’S VIOLENT! And three Samoan Spikes and a Powerbomb through the announce table later, Foley is left a broken man and Umaga stands tall. Oh my god, simply…wow!

Taker-Benoit, like I said before this should be a classic! And it was a classic, a pure beauty…for what it lasted . I expected a 15-20 minute match out of these two to be honest and I’m a tad bit disappointed these two only went for 12 minutes. Apart from that I enjoyed every read of this, a technically sound match-up between two of the best ever! And Taker gets the win, becoming the new number one contender. And now I can only wonder if he’ll indeed make his way to the top once again…

MOTN MOTN, without a doubt! Terrific contest from a wrestling point of view and an entertainment point of view! This match got me hooked from minute one to minute eighteen and I have to take my hat off for you, WELL DONE! Mcmahon is consistently on Edge’s side, but suddenly there’s Triple H to even the odds! But Michaels gets the victory with Mcmahon down and out this has to continue tomorrow night on Raw!

And there’s Taker! Ooh babeh, I can’t wait for their encounter whenever it is (I presume Survivor Series)!

Overall : GREAT SHOW! I can hardly name bad things about this Pay per view but a sort of major flaw was the length of the number one contender’s match. You had one terrific match, the main event, and two awesome promos, filled up with good to great matches and promos.
Really, man, kudos to you for producing a top-class show, keep up the good work!

Re: WWE 2006 & Beyond by ddmrko

Unforgiven Review

The opening was great. The commentators added to the show really well, and the opening video was excellent.

JBL v Benoit: Wonderful way to start the show. I thought this match told a great story, and it was exciting to read. Disappointed to see Benoit get the victory in the end, as I love the way you do JBL. I liked the finish though, as it ensures that the feud will continue past this match. Hope there's more matches to come between these two, possibly with a title involved.

Good promo with Orton. In character from the start, which put over his match with Flair nicely. Good stuff.

Mickie v Trish: Women’s matches always duds in my opinion, but this one was fairly enjoyable. Trish and Mickie make great rivals.

The No Mercy promo was amazing. Perfectly timed. How do you do those wonderful posters?

Big Show v Undertaker: Nice match; one that told a story. Realistically short because these two guys can't go that long anymore. I liked the ending with the 500 pound Last Ride, as 'Taker never really comes across as that strong. Good match overall, but both face victories for Taker and Benoit?

Nice stuff with the backstage segment with the Rated R Army. I can see potential troubles for Nitro and Doane.

The 6 pack challenge was amazing; this kind of matches are my personal favourite and you stacked it with killer performers. RVD getting eliminated so early was a surprise, but he had already eliminated Masters which makes him look good and was pinned after a chair shot. RVD/Masters rivalry brewing? The Doane and Nitro conflict was fairly obvious but a good way to break them down. I was surprised to see Doane eliminate Nitro but I was kind of expecting Carlito to win following RVD's exit. Great match. MOTN so far!

Stone Cold/JBL, without a doubt the biggest excitement thus far. The JBL promo was cool, but Austin was a total shock. Please tell me you’re not building towards an Austin/Bradshaw feud, because I was hoping for JBL to get into the title scene with Benoit. The commentary was good, you handled JR really well.

The Edge/McMahon promo plants the seeds of doubt for the Main Event. What will Vince do? Though I'm still expecting and 'heroic' HBK victory.

Orton v Flair was a wonderful match and the right man won. Flair refusing to go down had me worried for a moment, which is a great skill of yours. Flair was like a real brawler. Excellent match. Your Randy Orton is really becoming the Legend Killer he promises to be.

Quick segment for Raw. Decent.

Umaga destroys a hardcore legend! Loved it! Excellent use of power moves here! This not only furthers the image of the Samoan Bulldozer but also would bring him and AAE some serious heel heat for destroying Foley. Great stuff.

Benoit v Undertaker, hindered slightly by them both being faces, but 'Taker's status is always a little dubious anyway. Exciting match. Benoit comes across as the underdog which really gets me rooting for him. Taker wins, but Benoit does not seem weak at all. Great match again. Would like to see a rivalry between these two involving JBL and the title.

Edge v Michaels. Obviously Michaels was going to win, and I thought that HHH might pop up at some point,BUT NOT LIKE THAT!. I was expecting a more predictable outcome, but you really kept me going. Where was the 2nd referee, I kept asking myself, but no. Excellent finish to the match, which probably continues the feud with DX vs. the Rated-R Army a possibility. McMahon will still have a part to play no doubt.

In conclusion, an excellent show. Good grammar, good punctuation and good structure. You made it nice and easy to read and really showed your skill as a storyteller. Very well done mate. Great stuff.

Check out my BTB: WWE Redemption. It's brand new and lacking reviews.

Re: WWE 2006 & Beyond by ddmrko

ddmrko's Unforgiven Review

Opening video - absolutely stunning, captured the magnitude of the event greatly, and the use of the hourglass and time was very nicely done. The blending of several feuds into this opening package really set the scene to what promises to be a great show

JBL vs Benoit - Great opening matchup, both men using their abilities and a very well written match that kept drawing in suspense. The finish of the end with a typical JBL fight out of submission but Benoit finally getting the tapout was a highlight

The Randy Orton promo was beautifully done, typical Randy promo, set up the Flair/Orton match later on perfectly

Mickie vs Trish was a matchup I'd been looking forward to after reading your BTB since Summerslam, and I must say this match was great, with both women kicking out of each other's finishing moves, the action going back and forth, well balanced commentary, and of course, Mickie winning was a great touch. Hope this feud continues in some form

The No Mercy preview was done almost as good as the opening video package, and this refreshes and enforces the focal point of Angle/Batista II wish should be a great contest. You are truely gifted when it comes to promos

Benoit walking through backstage and sees 'Steve.' Could this be....

Big Show vs Undertaker was the typical contest here, big athletic man vs big slow man. To me the match lagged on a bit, but the finish was very memorable and I remember seeing that happen on TV. Very smart way to have the contest finish

The Rated R Army promo further elevated the tension between Doane and Nitro, something that tells me Melina is doing the dirty behind Nitro's back. Great work. But this promo was overshadowed by the marvellous promo for RVD, and including Fonzy gave me a nostalgic feeling back to the glory days of ECW where RVD was the man. I'll reiterate that your promos are phenomenal

The IC 6-pack challenge was a very long, interesting event filled match, and was enjoyable. The way you had RVD eliminated was great, sets up for a feud between he and Masters. Also, I would of thought the champ should of been one of the last two guys, but his elimination made the match even more intriguing, and to my surprise Carlito got the win, I thought for sure Kenny would of won. The post match deal with Melina still makes me think that something is going on between them two, look forward to Raw for further development on this story

OMG! Not only is Rock back on SD, but Austin is now back on Raw. Again this promo with JBL was fantastic and took me back to the old days Austin with the WHATS and so on. Great to see he is back for Raw on BTB. The addition of humour (with the phonecall) and also acknowledging a hatred of Vince fuels the Austin character

Typical Vince promo with Edge, sets the later match up to basically be a screw job. To me Edge is gonna get the gold back

Orton vs Flair was alot better than expected, and seeing Orton outcheat and out-technique Naitch was well written, and Orton gained the expected victory. But I have to wonder what is next for Orton.

Announcement of the tag team title match was done well, with Jindrak playing the cooler head, but these guys need a manager of some sort to talk for them. I can't picture Jindrak taking on such a vital speaking role

Umaga calling out Foley, and then leaving a path of destruction was very well written, and gave me great pleasure to read (being an Umaga fan). With Foley having destroyed Umaga, and now Umaga returning the favour, something tells me a match between these two won't be far off, and when they do lockup, I hope it's a Hardcore match of some kind, and will look forward to it. Having Foley carried out on a stretcher added to the effect of the beatdown.

Benoit/Taker was a little shorter than their first matches, but still provided great back and forth action, with Benoit going so close, yet so far before Taker got the win. Benoit showed his fighting spirit, but Taker showed his own, and prevails. Nice work again.

OMG what a match. Vince's one-sided refereeing was written superbly, but I would of expected a few more fast counts and some no counting of HBK's attempts at all. I knew HHH would have some involvement, but the way he became involved was truely a highlight and a surprise, not the typical finish you would expect. But one question lingers here, where was the Rated R Army to help Edge out? Would of added something if they tried to keep Edge in the match as well

And then the gong, and the story is set, HBK vs Taker. With both being huge faces, I wonder how this can be booked successfully, and look forward to seeing it transpire, and I can see Taker winning the title somehow

Phenomenal. Summed up in one word really, well worth the 45 minutes it took me to read, and I thoroughly enjoyed the whole event, and with the efforts of Unforgiven, I'm looking forward to No Mercy even more now. ddm, or 'Mac' (if I'm able to call you that) you truely deserve all the accilades you receive for this, it is truely a privilege to read, and you are doing a wonderful job. Hopefully your excellence rubs off onto me and if I can get my BTB to be a quarter of your standard, I'll be a very happy man

Repped for a great event
