TheAngle33's Summerslam Review

Grading for Matches:

Perfect = *****
Amazing = ****
Excellent = ***
Good = **
Needs Work = *

Opening Video

Pretty solid with some nice images to start off the show.

6 Man Tag

For starters, the match flowed extremely well until the end. The brawl caused me confusion in the reading and made me stop and go over once again. Also, there wasn't much variety of moves. Lots of striking and some signature moves like the Samoan Drop for Benjamin but not enough for the match. Also, it didn't feel like 9:45. I know you went by 150 a minute but it just didn't feel that long. It could have gone even longer though, even by the 200 WPM standards. This match had potential and could have been alot better:

Rating: **

Rey/Hardy Meeting

Everyone was spot on in character and it hyped the Rey vs Big Show match. Can't wait for that to start.

Chris Beniot vs Mark Henry

A spelling error in the opening paragraph hurts the opening flow. Commentary also hurts the flow for me. Can't stand it. More spelling errors cause triple readbacks and hurt the flow. Beniot is strong as oak and all but there is no way in hell he could hit Mark Henry with a Superplex. I'm barely believing the German Suplexes on the guy. He's huge and a good match with him is almost impossible. I didn't come into this match expecting a gem but there where a bunch of errors that could have easily been fixed and made this a three star with Beniot's guidance. Luckily, this match felt more like 10 minutes. Overall, this was a pretty dissapointing bout.

Rating: *

Triple H Promo

Pretty comidic way to fill the gap between matches. This also teases the fact that D-X could break up tonight!

Ric Flair vs Cactus Jack

Jesus Christ. There was a spot in every paragraph. The match was way too short for all of these spots. It should have been around 25 with a slower pace if you wanted to keep it going. It's like they would get hit with a sick move and rise to their feet instantly to get another sick move. Brainbuster threw a table? From Flair? I don't see it happening anytime soon. I know it was a Hardcore Match but why didn't you use the Figure Four at all? You could have done something innovative for it like apply it while Cactus lies on thumbtacks. This match had the potential to be great but you rushed right on threw it and hit a spot in every paragraph.

Rating: **

Big Show Interview

You got right into Heyman's sadistic asshole character and it came out perfectly. Can't wait for Big Show vs Rey. It looks to be good.

Big Show vs Rey Mysterio

Much better! Flowed very well and hit a pretty good variety of moves. Good time for the big man/small man match and I liked the Powerbomb on the outside. Much better than what you where putting on display before.

Rating: ***

John Cena Promo

The promo was going great for you until you brought in Kennedy and JBL. Simply Cena talking would have been good enough but the Kennedy and JBL thing complicated it and made this worse.

First Blood Match

The match had a lot of potential to be great. The first part of the match was extremely well written, had excellent flow but just moved way too fast. Cena and Orton could have brawled for a lot longer. This match should have been around 20 minutes at 200 WPM. Not only was it short but I don't understand why you have JBL & Kennedy. They are a tag team with a huge match later. The ending was well done though. Could have possibly gone to four stars with a little more length.

Rating: ***

McMahon Promo

Extremely well written piece of material. It well hyped the WWE Title match tonight and added conflict between Triple H and Shawn Michaels. Will Triple H turn heel tonight? We hope...

Woman's Title Match

Great match. Perfect length for the Diva, great flow and there was a large variety of moves. One problem though, where did Victoria come in? And how didn't Nitro get Melina DQed? Excellent match otherwise.

Rating: ****

Teddy's Office

Interesting, a new star comes to Smackdown soon? Nice! King Booker was very much in character, which is good, he's funny. JBL and Kennedy are being used again?

Ladder Match

Great match. Great flow, good length, loads of spots! The spots with the tables where insane. It might not have been extremely realistic but it was still fun.

Rating: ****

DX Duo

Interesting. You're clearly trying to make us think D-X will break up... which means they won't.

Six Man Tag

Second six man tag of the night? And why didn't the partner show? The match itself was pretty good. Making it the second six man tag wasn't bright but this was better than the first. The match itself was pretty good but you oversold the strength of Lashley. It took a Scissors Kick, two Book Ends, and a Huston Hangover to beat him. Not cool, dude. Booker looked week. The aftermath was pretty cool but you used JBL and Kennedy again... The Rock's return was awesome though. His promo was also extremely well done.

Rating: ***

Rated R Army Promo

Pretty good to just fill some time.

WWE Championship

MOTN. Length was great, flow was great and realism was great. The Rated R Army looks to be a huge fraction, having them all come out during the match is foolish. It was pretty cool to see Michaels win and D-X stay together. I see Edge vs Shawn Michaels next with Triple H turning heel sometime during the feud.

Rating: ****

Batista vs Kurt Angle

My dream match is here. The main event is here! Great match. You hit most of the catagories except length. Pretty lame ending though. Jack knife pin? Shades of NWO 06. I guess it helped Batista go over the end and turn though.

Rating: ***

Overall Rating: ***

Great show!

One problem though, where did Victoria come in?
That was a typo.

And I used JBL and Kennedy too much but I had a good reason.....

I'm a huge JBL and Mr. Kennedy mark. Thanks for the review.

Re: WWE 2006 & Beyond by ddmrko

SummerSlam Review by Kennedy2.......2!!!

Great opening video package to start the show off. The pictures were a nice touch.

Match #1: Rob Van Dam, Carlito, Joey Mercury vs. The Rated R Army: 6 man tag team match to kick off the show. Great exchange between RVD and Shelton Benjamin in the beginning. The match somewhat slowed down in the middle with Masters, Nitro and Benjamin taking over. Rob Van Dam picks up the win due to the arrogance of Shelton and hit’s the Five Star Frog Splash. This was the right match to kick off the night with. Fast paced with crisp action. The only problem was the length but that’s understandable because of the stacked card. Carlito was an afterthought in this match.
Match Rating: ***/5

Rey Mysterio-Matt Hardy segment: Hardy wants Rey’s spot and Mysterio refuses to give it up. I could definitely see Hardy costing Mysterio his match with The Big Show later on tonight. A Hardy heel turn would probably be for the best.

Match #2: Chris Benoit vs. Mark Henry: Benoit dominates the opening minutes of the match with his “rabid” intensity. Henry uses his raw power and strength to make a comeback. You booked both men really well here and this feud still has some life in it. Benoit puts Henry in The Cross face and he refuses to submit but finally succumbs to the pain of Benoit’s finishing submission hold. Good match. You book Henry’s losses greatly because he never comes out looking too weak in the end. The aftermath was great. Henry keeps his bad ass character by flipping Benoit off. But Benoit makes him pay for it by trying to break his arm! Nice commentary from Tazz afterwards, explaining the injury.
Match Rating: ***/5

Triple H-Mr. McMahon: Great stuff! This was your greatest promo ever. You had both Triple H characters down. The goofy DX character and “The Game” character and you perfectly mixed them into one. The Hunter-Michaels dynamic in that match should be fascinating to watch. McMahon comes in and tries to stir things up. Great line with the diapers and “I’m not ugly.” McMahon gets the laugh last by bringing up the Montreal Screw job. Interesting stuff.

Match #3: Ric Flair vs. Cactus Jack in a Hardcore Match: Sick match. Really brutal stuff. Jack going through the table earlier was pretty good. You used the chair really well with Jack and Flair both using it in an attempt to put the match away. The Piledriver on the chair was particularly disturbing! Eventually, Flair gives Jack a brain buster through the announce table and picks up the win! That was a good finish but I think the potential finish you told me about before was better. Still a great match.
Match Rating:***¾/5

Paul Heyman promo: Decent promo from Heyman here putting over the dominance of The Big Show. I think Show has the win locked up.

Match #4: The Big Show vs. Rey Mysterio: Basically a complete squash with tiny offensive spurts from Mysterio. This wasn’t a horrible match but it was the worst of the night. Matt Hardy comes to ringside and takes Show out BUT Mysterio still cant pick up the win. Show chokeslams Mysterio off of the top rope for the win! The aftermath was really good with Hardy showing some slight frustration with Mysterio. You are booking your storylines perfectly. I may be a little biased but I think you have the best storylines on the forums (besides Da Wolf Guy). No pressure. Lol.
Match Rating: **¼/5

John Cena-Mr. Kennedy/JBL segment: This was a great promo from all three men. The intensity from Cena in the beginning was off the charts. Even your use of Maria was dead on (the cowering when Cena got upset and the dumb question.) Kennedy and JBL show up and the tag team champions are comedic gold. Kennedy and JBL completely run down Cena until he snaps. Cena takes out Kennedy but its eventually broken up. I guess we’ll see a Cena-JBL/Kennedy feud soon enough. Great segment.

Match #5: John Cena vs. Randy Orton in a First Blood match: This was another brutal match. Not as good as Jack-Flair but this had some good brawling in it. You used the weapons well and the intrigue was off the charts. Cena puts Orton in the STFU and JBL & Kennedy run to the ring. They jump Cena until The Hooligans make the save. Orton busts Cena open with the RKO on the chair and picks up the win! Damn, he beat Cena twice in two tries. You’re putting him over big time. Cena ends up cleaning house in the end, hitting FU’s on JBL and Orton before leaving. This match was a little too short. The interference worked and we now have an interbrand feud.
Match Rating: ***/5

McMahon-Shawn Michaels promo: More good stuff from Vinnie Mac tonight. Vince continues to try to split DX up. This time he uses cold hard facts. Great promo here but DX is not breaking up…not tonight at least…I don’t think.

Match #6: Triple Threat for the Women’s Championship:
Aside from TheAngle33, nobody appreciates Women’s wrestling. I do and this was a great match. Every diva came out of the match looking stronger, especially Melina. Having Melina use the Twist of Fate and the moonsault to illustrate Lita’s training was great. Mickie steals the win and the feud between Mickie and Trish will probably continue. Good match.
Match Rating: ***¾/5

Promo from Teddy Long’s office:
All around great stuff. The tag team ladder match is now a triple threat ladder match! I guess The Pit Bulls are gonna win this thing tonight.

Match #7: Triple Threat Ladder Match for the WWE Tag Team Championship: This was a complete spot fest but it was a very entertaining spot fest! The Hooligans walk away with the tag team titles. Great match and a great line from Mr. Kennedy. “Get The Tables…TABLES!”
Match Rating: ****/5

Triple H-Shawn Michaels segment:
Great promo from the two DX members here. Lots of tension and HBK cuts a heartfelt promo. That’s got to make him the favorite tonight.

Match #8: 6 Man Mystery Tag Team Match: The mystery partner cant make it in time so Lashley and Taker go at it alone. The end of the match was great as Booker just couldn’t put Lashley away. It takes a Scissors Kick, 2 Bookends and The Houston Hangover to put him away! Way to make Lashley look strong.
Match Rating:***½/5

Aftermath: All hell breaks lose! JBL, Kennedy, Big Show, Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio and The Hooligans all come down to ringside. Show dominates until THE ROCK shows up and cleans house. Great promo from Rock and Booker and that feud is looking pretty good.

Rated R Army segment: I guess no one else caught the chemistry between Doane and Melina in that segment. Very interesting…

Match #9: Triple Threat match for the WWE Championship: MOTN. In fact, MOTT (Match of the Thread). Great match up. From Hunter and Michaels arguing in the beginning, to them coming to blows. Edge gets a Pedigree but then Triple H gets hit with some Sweet Chin Music! MICHAELS IS THE NEW WWE CHAMPION!
Match Rating: ****½/5

Aftermath: DX looks like their gonna break up but then they embrace. They beat the crap out of Edge and DX gets the last word.

Vince McMahon-Coachman promo: I guess someone’s going to SmackDown!

Match #10: Main Event: Kurt Angle vs. Batista for the World Heavyweight Championship: Let me start off by saying that the opening video package was sick. Absolutely great stuff. Batista and Angle go back and forth, using their different styles to gain the advantage. The ending to the match was great with them both hitting each other with everything they got. Angle wins with a jackknife cover to retain the title.
Match Rating: ****/5

Aftermath: Batista hands Angle his title BUT THEN BATISTA DESTROYS HIM! Great job not hinting at a heel turn at all as it was much more shocking that way. Great ending to a great PPV.

Definitely better than your GAB but still could have been better. Your promos were great and your storylines are FANTASTIC but your matches should be made longer. Great PPV D-Mac.
Overall: 9.1/10

Re: WWE 2006 & Beyond by ddmrko

Summerslam Review- ORRY420

Opening Video:
Decent opening video, the pictures were used effectively, but in regards of text it was pretty basic. 7/10

RVD, Carlito and Joey Mercury vs. Rated R Army: This was the right to choice to open the show, with 6 very good wrestlers hopefully getting the crowd involved. I think they did this to an extent, but it did not serve its purpose as well as it probally should have been. The match itself was a little on the short side, and the finish was rather confusing, in fact I had to re-read it a few times over to get the jist of what was happening. 6.5/10

Matt Hardy/Rey Mysterio Segment: Solid segment here, it's obvious both men detest the Big Show, which is the main reason why I cannot see Hardy costing Rey the match tonight- it just wouldn't make any sense. I can however see a Hardy heel turn in the near future. 7/10

Chris Benoit vs. Mark Henry: I wuite enjoyed this match, both men's characters were expressed well, in particular Benoit's 'Rabid Wolverine' mindset. After being dominated early, Henry makes a comeback only for Benoit to finish him off in style. The aftermath was pretty cool, and by the looks of things Henry may be out for a while. Decent length, could have been longer. 7.5/10

Triple H/Vince McMahon Segment: Not a bad little segment here to further build the main event, and the possible break up of DX. Some funny lines from HHH, but his intensity was also displayed. 8/10

Ric Flair vs. Cactus Jack: Unfortunately, I didn't like this match much at all. It was far too spotty, far too short, but most importantly far to unrealistic. Nearly every paragraph there was a big spot, and there is no way in hell Foley and Flair could keep up that pace. Flair's lack of signature moves was alos a problem, particulalry the Figure 4 Leglock, and the finish was just....well it was just bad. 5.5/10

Paul Heyman Promo: Good promo from Heyman, he came of looking like a sick jackass, which is perfect Heyman IMO. The match tonight should be good, but I only see it as a filler of sorts to further build the Show/Hardy feud. 7.5/10

Big Show vs. Rey Mysterio: This was decent, far superior to the complete spotfest prior. The dynamics between the big man/little man was expressed well, and the David/Goliath story was definately evident here. In the end, despite interferance from Hardy, Show picks up the win. Hardy's look of frustration was expected, and it looks as of a feud with Rey is building. 7.5/10

John Cena/JBL/Mr Kennedy Segment: This was hit and miss amn. Whilst Cena's intensity and fire was written well, the interruption of the Tag Team Champions not only took away from the promo, but also created confusion. It seems as if Cena/Orton is not as improtant now, which isn't a good thing at all. 7/10

John Cena vs. Randy Orton: This match wasn't atrocious, nor was it off the charst, it was merely very solid. The barwl between the two rivals for the opening couple of minutes of the match suied the atmosphere well, but the interferance of JBL and Kennedy detracted from the overall quality. In the end RKO picks up another huge win over Cena, and a main event push can't be too far away. 7.5/10

VinceMcMahon Segment: Much like the segment with Triple H earlier, this was also enjoyable, with McMahon trying desperately to break DX apart. I'm not sure if it will happen tonight or not, it will be interesting to find out. 8/10

Trish vs. Mickie James vs. Melina: Meh, not a big fan opf womens wretling, it really does nothing for me. The match itself was decent, bvut the finiosh was confusing, Nitro's DQ didn't make much sense. By the way, there has been too much interferance tonight, hopefully this trend stops now. 6.5/10

GM's Office Segment: I thought DX were being overused tonight, but JBL and Kennedy have out done them. Too much airtime for the Tag Cghamps, and their match hasn't even taken place yet! The Triple Threat Match should be great, howver it ould have been better if you had merely booked the match a few weeks in advance. 7/10

JBL/Kennedy vs. Hooligans vs. Pitbulls: Wow nother stipulation match, maybe a little over the top, but it's your thread I guess. The amcth itself was another total spotfest, and did not flow well, but I quite enjoyed the match, despite it's lack of realism. Cool to see new Tag Champs, let's see where you take them. 7.5/10

DX Segment: It's now desperately obvious that DX will not be breaking up...tonight at least. Also, the WWE Champion should have recieved more exposure, because DX have been used too much on the show, which guarentess a Title change.6.5/10

Lashley and Batista vs. Kings Court: Not happy with your decision to have the 6 participant not show up, it makes him look careless, as if he doesn't really want to be there. Lashley was booked way too powerful in this match, and Booker looked extremnely weak. The aftermath was ok, and it was great to see The Rock, but like many parts of tonights show it was a little confusing. 6/10

Rated R Army Segment: Finally Edge recieves some exposure, but it's a little too late IMO- the Championship is going to chang hadns tonight, but to which memebr of DX? 7.5/10

EDge vs. HHH vs. HBK: This was MOTN, it was the first match that really served it's purpose tonight, and it was the most realistic by far. Interferance marred this match, and like I said there has been too much tonight. In the end, HBK picks up a huge win after nailing Sweet Chin Music on the Game! I can see a HHH heel turn, although I ould prefer a HBK. Great ending, and I'm happy to see that HBK is the Champ! 8.5/10

Vince McMahon/Jonathon Coachman Segment: Filler segment, hinitng at someone going to Smackdown. Probally wasn't needed, maybe a video would have been better. 6.5/10

Kurt Angle vs. Batista: There has been no build to this at all tonight, and to be honest I sort of forgot that it was on the card. The match, expecially the finish turned out to be a bit of a letdown, but Batista's heel turn was good, and this feud is not over. 7/10

Overall: Decent PPV, obviously could have been better, but considering it was only your second ever PPV, it was a good effort. Your promos and match length need work, but after remenising on the show, I have come to the conclusion that it was very enjoyable. 142/200= 71%

Re: WWE 2006 & Beyond by ddmrko

Hey man. Sorry it took so long to review. Anyway, here it is. Enjoy.

HBKicon Reviews Summerslam:

Six Man Tag: Great match to start things off on SS. I enjoyed this match with the mid carders mostly in this match. I lvoed how all the fueds were drawn together and the match itself was really good. Shelton and RVD had great interaction and it was a great win for RVD. Also, MNM facing eachother was a good thing. Nice work.

Rey/Hardy Promo: Decent promo. A little too short and maybe out of charecter. Anyway, the match should be great and a heel turn from Matt maybe?

Benoit vs. Henry: Nice match from SD! here. I love how you showed Benoit's rage and aggressiveness. Henry leaving soon? A great thing here. . Anyway, Benoit picks up the deserved win and you did a great job expressing Benoit's charecter.

Flair vs. Foley: Amazing match and MOTN so far. I loved it. It was everything it was expected to be and then some. Fliar picks up a great win for him in a great match. Personally, Foley should have gone over but I'm taking nothing away from Flair. It was a great match none-the-less.

Big Show Promo: To me, it was nothing special. It just got SHow ready for his match with Rey. But the promo should have been replaced with something else.

Big SHow vs. Rey Mysertio: Decent match at best. Sorry bro, but this seemed like a match that should have stayed on SD! I like how Hardy got involved and like I said maybe a heel turn from Hardy. Overall this match seemed like a squash match. I don’t think it did much expect maybe start a Hardy/Rey fued.

Cena vs.Orton: The match was very good, considering the men involved. Just kidding. I am not a Cena or Orton hater, in fact I like both men. This match was brutal. I liked the spots it had as well as the ending, it was unexpected. My only problem is that it was to closely like the Hardcore Match earlier.

Women’s Title: I liked this match. I like diva matches and I wish Trish would have won but Mickie picking up the win is alright. Nice job.

GM's Office Promo: Sorry, but way to much of DX and Kennedy/JBL. I wasn't into this promo at all, prob because of the overuse of both teams. Anyway, can't wait until their respective matches.

JBL/Kennedy vs. Hooligans vs. Pitbulls: Nice match here. Except it reminded me a little to much of Cena/Orton and Flair/Foley. Too many spot fests. The best part of this is the new tag champs. I can't wait to see where all 3 teams go from here.

DX Promo: ANother DX promo!? I am not into this at all. Edge has gotten very very little air time with DX owning this show. Sorry but it's not for my liking.

6 Man Tag: It was an ok match. I like how you made Lashley look strong at the end. I enjoyed what you did in this match but the mystery parnter not showing up until the end was confusing. The Rock is back though and a fued with the King looks promising. Great job hyping the fued.

Rated R Army Promo: Nice promo, giving the champ some air time. it was placed too late in the show but it hyped the triple threat match. Nice work.

EDge vs. HHH vs. HBK: Great match here. I loved it. The best part is that HBK is champion! Nice work. DX splitting up is good and I see Michaels/HHH at Unforgiven? Personally, I love HBK and I am glad he is champion, but I would still have liked to see Edge retain. MOTN so far.

Kurt Angle vs. Batista: Decent match but it wasnt hyped at all. Everything seemed to focus on RAW's main event. The match itself was decent at best. Im sorry but I wasn't into this match. Tista turning heel is good and hopefully this fued continues and produces top notch matches.

Overall: 8/10. Sorry man but I wasn't all that into this show. SOme things were on, while others were off. There was some poor placement of matches and promos and you used superstars way to much. I wasn't into all the gimmick matches and lack of wrestling matches. Finally, the promos were overdone. Overall, it was a good PPV but I was expecting better. No big deal though, you are a great booker and this PPV should not bring you down at all. I am looking forward to RAW as well as Unforgiven!

RAW Preview
August 28, 2006
Nashville, Tennessee
Nashville Arena

Draft Lottery
Starting this week on Monday Night RAW, the 2006 Draft Lottery will take place. Mr. McMahon announced on wwe.com, earlier in the week, that two SmackDown superstars will be coming to RAW this week. Who will the draft picks be and what kind of an impact will they have this Monday?

The end of the DX era?
Last week on Monday Night RAW, DX collided when Triple H challenged Shawn Michaels for the WWE Championship. The huge match up came to no conclusion when the former champion, Edge, showed up and took out both DX members. So the match up has been made, Triple H will take on Edge one on one. On what may be the last night of D-Generation X, The Game will collide with The Rated R Superstar. Will The King of Kings be able to defeat Edge on, more than likely, the last night of DX? Or will the former champion take out The Game just like he did last week?

Also on RAW, “The Heartbreak Kid” Shawn Michaels defends his WWE Championship for the second time in two weeks. This week on RAW, HBK defends his title against The Rated R Army’s Shelton Benjamin. When these two competitors met in May of last year, they tore the house down. You can surely expect more of the same from them this Monday Night. Will Benjamin be able to take a huge step and capture the WWE Championship? Or will the losing streak of The Rated R Army continue?

Is the third time, the charm?
And it gets no more personal then the match that will KICK OFF Monday Night RAW. John Cena and Randy Orton have been at each others throats for weeks. When the two RAW superstars met on the 3 hour edition of RAW a little over a month ago, it was The Legend Killer who walked away from the battle the winner. A week ago at SummerSlam, Orton and Cena met again. And with help from SmackDown!‘s JBL and Mr. Kennedy, Orton once again walked out with the victory. Will the third time be the charm for John Cena this Monday Night or will the streak of The Legend Killer continue?

Announced for Monday Night RAW:
Draft Lottery
Two SmackDown! superstars come to RAW

WWE Championship
Shawn Michaels© vs. Shelton Benjamin

Triple H vs. Edge

Grudge Match
Randy Orton vs. John Cena

Note: No SmackDown! preview. A FULL RAW and a recapped SmackDown! should be posted tomorrow night.

for the week of September 28th
