***Before the official show, a recap of The Great American Bash plays***
---Gregory Helms retains his Cruiserweight Title by defeating Super Crazy using The Vertebreaker---
---JBL and Mr. Kennedy retain their Tag Team Titles by defeating London and Kendrick. After the match, both teams are assaulted by The Pit Bulls---
---The Big Show chokeslams Matt Hardy off of a ladder and through a table to win a brutal Tables match. After the match, Show continues to assault Hardy until Rey Mysterio makes the save.
---Finlay uses a shillelagh and a steel chair to win the United States Championship from Bobby Lashley.---
---Undertaker finally vanquishes The Great Khali out of the WWE by winning the buried alive match.---
---In one of the most anticipated confrontations of the year, Batista battered and bloodied Mark Henry to pick up the huge win and become the #1 contender to the World Heavyweight Championship at SummerSlam.---
---“The Rabid Wolverine” Chris Benoit returned and went after Mark Henry. Benoit said he will make Henry’s life miserable and will take him out like Henry did to him---
---Kurt Angle kept up his 6 month World Heavyweight Title reign by defeating King Booker and Rey Mysterio in a triple threat match. During the match, The Big Show came down to ringside and took out Rey Mysterio with a HUGE chokeslam on the outside. With Mysterio taken out, Booker and his Court tried to take out the World Champion but Lashley would have none of it, as he came down to the ring to brawl with Finlay. Eventually it came down to just Booker and Angle in the ring. Despite the best efforts the King, he was forced to tap out to the devastating Ankle lock.
***The first match for SummerSlam is set. August 20. Boston, Massachusetts. Dream match: Kurt Angle defends his World Heavyweight Championship against the man who never lost the title, Batista.
The SmackDown! Intro plays. We then cut into the arena as the fireworks and pyro goes off as the fans in the go crazy.
Joey Styles: Hello everyone and welcome to Friday Night SmackDown!. I’m Joey Styles here with former ECW Champion Tazz. Coming off of a hell of a Great American Bash Pay-Per-View, we have a hell of a show lined up for you here tonight.
Tazz: Huge matches. Two guys who came up a little bit short at The Great American Bash Pay Per View, Mark Henry and Rey Mysterio, will go one on one in what should be a rocket buster.
Styles: Also tonight, the World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle will take William Regal in what should be a great technical contest.
“Royalty” hits to tremendous heat from the audience. King Booker and Queen Sharmell make their way to the ring. Booker has an angry scowl on his face as he looks at the sold out audience. Sharmell grabs a microphone from ringside and hands Booker the microphone.
Booker: At The Great American Bash……I lost my World Heavyweight Championship triple threat match to one Kurt Angle.
The audience cheers for Angle’s name. After a couple of seconds the audience begins a “YOU TAPPED OUT!” chant.
Booker: But you see, that is where you…my loyal subjects are wrong. I did not tap out. It was just like the Montreal Screw job. That racist peasant Teddy Long screwed me out of MY World Heavyweight Championship. But Thaddeus is not the only one to blame. My loss is also the reason of another peasant. A peasant named…..Bobby Lashley.
The crowd gives a loud pop for Lashley’s name
Booker: You see Lashley, when you ran down the ring during my match you distracted me long enough for Angle to put on his Ankle Lock. You are just jealous because Finlay whupped your ass and took your title. (Booker starts to get upset and begins to talk more in his “Booker T” persona) Lashley, me and the court are gonna whip your punk ass. You Dig?! We gonna find you in a dark alley and we’re gonna wear your ass out.
The crowd gives Booker heat until…..
“MacMillitant” hits to a decent face pop. Teddy Long makes his way out on the ramp with microphone in hand.
Long: Booker, did I hear you right? Did you say that you want some of Bobby Lashley?
Booker: Yeah that’s what I said.
Long: Did I also hear you say that you were gonna find Lashley and take him out.
Booker: You damn right! That’s exactly what I said!
Long: Well Book, I’ll….
Booker: KING BOOKER!
Long: Well King Booker, I’ll make it real easy for you to find him. Tonight its King Booker vs. Bobby Lashley!!! Holla! Holla! Holla!
Booker and Sharmell throw a fit as the audience erupts in cheers.
Styles: Huge match announced for later tonight. King Booker vs. Bobby Lashley right here tonight.
Tazz: That’s a huge main event but coming up next we see the debut of a new superstar, Chris Sabin.
Styles: Sabin makes his WWE debut against the longest reigning Cruiserweight Champion in history, Gregory Helms. Helms vs. Crazy. NEXT!
“Hail Sabin” hits to no reaction as this is the first time this music is being played to a WWE audience. Sabin walks down the ramp hyped for his WWE debut. Sabin slaps the hands of the fans as he walks down the ramp.
Tony Chimel: The following contest is a non-title match and it is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, weighing in at 215 pounds, CHRIS SABIN!
Tazz: I’ve seen this kid Sabin in a couple of matches he’s very impressive but I want to see what he does against major league competition.
Styles: It doesn’t get any more major league then the Cruiserweight Champion. The longest reigning Cruiserweight Champion in history, Gregory Helms.
“Fire Storm” hits to decent heel heat. Gregory Helms makes his way down the entrance ramp with his Cruiserweight Title over his shoulder. Helms enters the ring and puts his championship write in the face of Sabin.
Chimel: And his opponent, also weighing in at 215 pounds, he is the Cruiserweight Champion of the world, GREGORY HELMS!
Styles: Tazz, Helms had a hell of a match up with Super Crazy at The Great American Bash.
Tazz: That match could have went either way on several occasions. It took Helms pulling out the Vertebreaker, a move he hadn’t uses in God knows how long, to pull out the victory.
Styles: We’ll see if he can pull out the victory against this newcomer.
Chris Sabin vs. Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms
Sabin and Helms start the match off by circling each other. Helms and Sabin tie up in the middle of the ring. Helms backs Sabin up into a corner. Helms immediately begins to throw right hands at Sabin, trying to send a message to the SmackDown! newcomer. Sabin fights back out of the corner and hits the CW Champion with several hard forearm shots. Helms tries to hit a clothesline but Sabin ducks, jumps up and snaps off a beautiful huracanrana. Sabin pumps his fist in excitement and then lifts up Helms. Sabin shoots the champion into the roped. Sabin gets set too early and Helms makes him pay by drilling him with a swinging neck breaker. The champion tries to capitalize by covering Helms.
Sabin gets a shoulder up! Helms lifts Sabin off of the mat and hits him with a right hand. Sabin counters with a right of his own. And then another. And one more. Sabin Irish whips the CW Champion into the corner, Sabin follows up by drilling him with a running, jumping forearm right to the face. Sabin then takes Helms and shoots him into the opposite corner. Sabin charges into the corner and jumps but Helms comes out of the corner and hits Sabin with a dropkick to the sternum. Helms goes for the cover after the impact move.
Sabin kicks out of the cover. Helms gets back up to his feet and sets in the corner, waiting for Sabin to make it to his feet. Sabin slowly begins to make it back up to his knees. Helms charges out of the corner and attempts to hit The Shining Wizard. Sabin ducks and kicks Helms in the gut. He then grabs Helms and puts him on his back. Helms attempts to cross Helms legs but the Cruiserweight Champion fights out of it. Helms grabs Sabin and shoots him off the ropes. Helms gets set too early and Sabin tucks his head in between his legs. Sabin then lifts him up, runs forward and drills him with a running sit out power bomb. Sabin has the cover.
(WINNER: Sabin at 9:23)
The audience pops as the newcomer, Chris Sabin, wins his debut match in the WWE.
Styles: Wow that was a hell of a win for Chris Sabin. He just beat the Cruiserweight Champion.
Tazz: He hit a beautiful Liger Bomb to pick up the victory. This Sabin just may be the real deal.
***We cut to the backstage area with Josh Matthews standing by***
Josh Matthews: Ladies and gentlemen, the WWE Tag Team Champions JBL and Mr. Kennedy.
Kennedy and JBL come into screenshot receiving a mixed reaction from the crowd.
Kennedy: Say it again.
JBL: Did I ask you to speak?
Matthews: But he told me…
Kennedy: SHUT UP!
JBL: We’ll take it from here.
JBL snatches the microphone from Matthews as Kennedy gets in his face. Matthews walks away with a dejected look on his face.
JBL: Last night at The Great American Bash, Mr. Kennedy and myself successfully defended OUR Tag Team Titles against…..I forgot. Anyway, that’s not important. The fact was that we won with ease.
Styles: EASE!? That was the most competitive…
Tazz: Shut up Styles.
JBL: But after the match, these two midgets in bondage had the nerve to attack us. Kash, Noble, the two of you walk around with chains around your neck and you bark and you wear leather and then you have the nerve to bitch about how you’re not taken seriously. After last night, you two fruit booties have gotten our attention.
JBL hands the mic to Mr. Kennedy.
Kennedy: Tonight, triple threat. Kid Kash, one of the midgets in bondage, takes on Paul London, one of the midgets in a mask, and they go against the man who can’t freakin’ lose. MMIIIISSSSTTTEERRRR KKKKENNNNEEEEDDDYY…… KENNNEEEDDDDYYYYY!!!
Kennedy and JBL walk off camera to a mixed reaction from the audience.
Styles: Triple threat. Kennedy vs. London vs. Kash. NEXT!
“London Calling” hits to a good pop. Paul London and Brian Kendrick run down to the ring at full speed.
Tony Chimel: The following contest is a triple threat match which is schedule for one fall. Introducing first accompanied to the ring by Brian Kendrick, from Austin, Texas, weighing in at 195 pounds, PAUL LONDON!
Styles: This past Sunday night, Paul London and Brian Kendrick came oh so close to winning the WWE Tag Team Titles. But the real story came after the match when London & Kendrick along with JBL & Mr. Kennedy were brutally assaulted by The Pit Bulls.
Tazz: You mean the midgets in bondage.
“Kid Kash” hits to decent heat. Kid Kash makes his way down to the ring with his tag team partner, Jamie Noble, by his side.
Chimel: And his opponent, accompanied by Jamie Noble, from Waynesboro, Virginia, weighing in at 202 pounds, KID KASH!
Tazz: These Pit Bulls feel disrespected by both teams. They feel disrespected by the General Manager and they did something about it at The Great American Bash.
“Mr. Kennedy” hits to a loud mixed reaction. About 50/50. Kennedy makes his way down to the ring with JBL by his side and his WWE Tag Title over his shoulder. Kennedy throws his title belt into the ring and slides in. The match up quickly gets underway.
Kid Kash vs. WWE Tag Team Champion Mr. Kennedy vs. Paul London
One Fall to Finish
Kennedy goes after Kash to start the match up. The brash up and comer backs Kash up into the corner by nailing him with a barrage of hard right hands. London joins the fray and helps Kennedy attack Kash. Kennedy and London brings him out of the corner and towards the middle of the ropes. The two superstars shoot him off the ropes and hit Kash with a double back elbow. Kennedy then seizes an opportunity and attacks London. Kennedy kicks the young highflyer in the gut and shoots him off the ropes. London ducks a Kennedy clothesline and hits him with a beautiful dropsault. London with the cover.
Kash breaks up the pinfall. Kash lifts London up and shoots him into the corner. Kash charges at him but London gets both his feet up and drives them into Kash’s face. Kash gets hit and turns around. Before Kash can recover from the shot he is hit with a NASTY Kennedy clothesline which sends him for a loop. London comes out of the corner and hits Kennedy with a couple of hard forearms. London shoots the arrogant Mr. Kennedy off of the ropes. Kennedy attempts a sunset flip but London rolls out and hits Kennedy with a dropkick to the face. London covers Kennedy.
Kennedy kicks out! London lifts Kennedy back up to his feet and shoots him into the turnbuckle. London then charges at Kennedy in the corner and attempts a splash. Kennedy catches London in mid air and throws him onto his back. Kennedy prepares to hit a Kamikaze but London fight off of Kennedy’s back. Kash gets back up to his feet and attacks Kennedy. London and Kash work together and hit Mr. Kennedy with a double suplex. London and Kash then face each other and begin to brawl. Kash whips London into the ropes. London comes back with a big clothesline taking Kash down. Kash gets back up to his feet and is taken down by another London clothesline. London lifts Kash up and shoots him off of the ropes. London gets set too early. Kash quickly wraps his arm around the head and neck of London and plants him with a hard DDT! Kash drags London towards the corner and sets him up to his liking. Kash climbs to the top turnbuckle. Kennedy, who has recovered, goes over to the corner and nails Kash with a shot to the gut. Kennedy then climbs the turnbuckle backwards facing and gets Kash in position for his finisher. Kennedy jumps off, flips and hits Kash with the Green Bay Plunge. London grabs Kennedy and throws him out of the ring. London then covers Kash.
(WINNER: Paul London at 14:35 via pinfall)
Styles: London did it! He won this match up.
Tazz: Yeah but Mr. Kennedy did all the work.
Styles: What do you always say Tazz? By hook or crook, Paul London picks up the victory.
***We cut to the backstage area with Kristal Marshall standing by***
Kristal: Ladies and gentlemen, the winner of the Tables match at The Great American Bash, THE BIG SHOW!
The Big Show comes into screenshot, receiving a ton of heat from the sold out audience.
Kristal: Big Show, I have to ask you, what are your thoughts on everything that transpired at The Great American Bash this past Sunday night.
Show: Instead of me doing the talking, how about you speak to my new and my former agent….Paul Heyman.
Heyman comes into screenshot receiving a mixed reaction.
Heyman: Kristal, what you need to understand is that The Big Show is the most dominant being, not just on two legs, but on legs period. On Sunday night, The Big Show took Matt Hardy’s carcass and dumped him 20 some odd feet off of a ladder and through a table.
The audience gives Heyman heat.
Heyman: This 500 pound giant took Rey Mysterio and single handedly crushed every dream that the man ever had with one, ONE, chokeslam. You see, Rey Mysterio made a mistake. Rey Mysterio got involved in the business of The Big Show, which means from this point forward, Rey Mysterio must pay. Mark my words, The Big Show will put Rey Mysterio in a hospital bed right next to his buddy Matt Hardy.
Show and Heyman both smirk and walk off camera to incredible heat from the audience.
Tazz: That was big but Styles don’t you have something to tell the people at home.
Styles: Four words. Kurt. Angle. Is. Next.
Chimel: The following contest is a non-title match scheduled for one fall.
“Medal” blasts over the P.A. System and receives colossal ovation. The World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle comes out from behind the curtain and the tremendous ovation gets even louder. Angle shoots his pyro off but it can barely be heard over Angle’s ovation. Angle makes his way down the ramp and into the ring. Angle goes to all four turnbuckles and holds his World Heavyweight Title over his head.
Chimel: Introducing first, from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, weighing in at 237 pounds, he is the World Heavyweight Champion, KURT ANGLE!
The crowd continues to cheer loudly as Angle looks focused in the ring.
Styles: This man defeated Rey Mysterio and King Booker at The Great American Bash. He has defeated the Undertaker, Mark Henry, The Big Show, Chris Benoit and Randy Orton during his 6 month title reign. But at SummerSlam in over a month’s time, Angle may have his greatest challenge yet when he takes on the former Champion, Batista.
Tazz: The most anticipated, the biggest and the most intriguing match of the year takes place on August 20. Kurt Angle vs. Dave Batista at SummerSlam. Who is the true World Heavyweight Champion?
“Royalty” hits to great heat. William Regal makes his way to the ring with microphone in hand.
Regal: Listen to me you rotten scoundrel. At the Great American Bash, you sullied the awesome record of my king, our King, King Booker.
The audience boos Regal and the mention of King Booker.
Regal: So therefore, Mr. Angle. I shall be forced to beat you into a bloody pulp and you will always remember….TO HAIL KING BOOKER!
Regal enters the ring and goes right at Angle.
World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle vs. William Regal
Regal comes at Angle with a left hand. Angle ducks the right hand, goes behind Regal and drills him with a beautiful German suplex. Angle looks at the audience and they give him a huge ovation. Angle lifts Regal up and shoots him into the corner. Angle charges into the corner but Regal gets his boots up into the face of Angle causing him to stumble backward. Regal tries to capitalize on Angle being stunned by running at Angle. Angle recovers, wraps his arms around Angle, pops his hips, and takes Regal over with a belly to belly suplex. Angle pulls the straps on his wrestling gear down and begins yelling at the top of his lungs. The fans go crazy as they realize the end is near for William Regal. Regal slowly begins to make it up to his feet as Angle “stalks” him. Regal turns around and gets kicked in the gut by Angle. Angle drills Sir Regal with The Angle Slam. The fans pop crazy as Angle walks over to the legs of Regal. Angle locks in The Ankle Lock and waits for the inevitable. After a few seconds of excruciating pain, Regal taps out.
(WINNER: Angle at 3:57 via submission)
The audience erupts as Angle lets go of the hold and glares at Regal.
Styles:……oh my gawd! Angle is ready for Batista.
Tazz: Kurt Angle is a wrestling machine. As great as Batista is, at SummerSlam, he runs into a buzz saw known as Kurt Angle.
Styles: Lets take a look at “The Wrestling Machine.” Lets hear what Kurt Angle had to say about his opponent for his upcoming epic match. Kurt Angle on Batista.
***Pre-taped Kurt Angle interview***
Angle: Dave Batista is probably the top power wrestler in the business. But he’s not all power. For a man his size, he has great speed, quickness and explosiveness. He’s extremely intense and he’s extremely smart, which is rare for a guy who‘s been in the business for such a short time. Not to mention the fact that he learned from “The Nature Boy” Ric Flair. Lets also not forget the fact that Batista beat “The Game” Triple H, one of the best wrestlers in the business, in three straight Pay Per View matches. One problem though. I’m not one of the best in the business. I AM THE BEST IN THE BUSINESS! And as much as I respect you Batista, at SummerSlam I will prove that I am the one and only true World Heavyweight Champion. Batista, you don’t have a choice in the matter. The only choice you have is: Angle Slam or Ankle Lock? Because under no circumstances will I lose at SummerSlam. Kurt Angle: World Heavyweight Champion, January 10th through WHENEVER THE HELL I WANT!
The video goes off and Angle receives another huge ovation.
“I Love To Fight” hits to some pretty loud heat. The NEW United States Champion Finlay makes his way to the ring, with shillelagh in hand and title around his waist.
Chimel: The following contest is a non-title match and it is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first from Belfast, Ireland, weighing in 233 pounds, he is the NEW United States Champion, FINLAY!
Styles: The man whom stole the United States Championship at The Great American Bash from Bobby Lashley.
Tazz: Lashley’s gonna be in action a little later on tonight against King Booker but right now Finlay needs to worry about the task at hand.
“How Do You Like Me Now” hits to a decent face pop. Hardcore Holly makes his way down the ramp looking focused for the difficult task at hand.
Chimel: And his opponent, weighing in at 235 pounds, from Mobile, Alabama, HARDCORE HOLLY!
Styles: Holly could jump right into the U.S. Title picture with a win over Finlay here tonight.
U.S. Champion Finlay vs. Hardcore Holly
Finlay and Holly get face to face with each other to start the match off. The two tough as nails men square off before Finlay rears his right hand back and slaps Holly right across the face. Holly holds the side of his face and then drills Finlay with a right hand of his own in retaliation. Holly and Finlay exchange right until Finlay nails Hardcore with a knee to the gut. Finlay then takes Holly and shoots him off of the ropes. When Holly comes back, Finlay lays him out with a short arm clothesline. Finlay lifts Bob Holly up and backs him up into a corner. Finlay hits Holly with a hard knife edged chop. And then another. But Holly has had enough and reverses positions with Finlay. Hardcore then begins to light up Finlay’s chest with hard knife edged chops. Holly shoots Finlay into the opposite corner, charges and drills him with a clothesline. Finlay falls face first out of the corner. Holly with the cover on the United States Champion.
Finlay aggressively kicks out. Holly quickly gets up and goes to the corner. Holly climbs to the top turnbuckle and waits on the “Fighting Irishman” to get up to his feet. Finlay slowly gets up and Holly flies off the turnbuckle and attempts to hit a flying clothesline. Finlay avoids the contact and ducks the clothesline. Finlay quickly goes over to a weakened Holly and gets him to a vertical base. Finlay then puts Holly in the Emerald Fusion position and hits him with a hard Celtic Cross. Finlay with the cover on Holly.
(WINNER: Finlay at 5:45 via pinfall)
Styles: Whether you like him or you don’t, Finlay is going to be a tough U.S. Champion to beat.
Styles: Well, earlier we head “The Wrestling Machine’s” thoughts on “The Animal”. Now lets here the other side. Batista on Angle.
***Pre-taped Batista Interview***
Batista: Kurt Angle is the best wrestler in the world today. Bar none. Better than The Undertaker. Better than Triple H. Better than Shawn Michaels. Better than Edge. As long as Kurt Angle has that big gold belt on his shoulder it means that Angle is the best in the business without question. There’s only one problem. The belt that Angle carries is around….belongs to me! He never beat me for that Championship. That belt belongs to me. Kurt has been champion since January. He won it the same night that I gave it up and I’ve been pissed off ever since. So at SummerSlam, the situation is reversed. At SummerSlam, you lose the World Title on the same night that I win it. I guarantee it.
The interview ends and the fans begin a loud “BATISTA!” chant.
Styles: Up next……
*Shot of Batista, in a suit, walking towards the ring*
Styles: “The Animal” speaks!
“I Walk Alone” plays over the loudspeaker which receives a colossal ovation from the audience. One of the loudest of the night, if not the loudest of the night. Batista walks from behind the curtain and the crowd gets louder. Batista does his signature entrance and sets off his massive pyro. Batista enters the ring and poses on all four turnbuckles, making the “World Title” motion with his hands.
Styles: The roof just blew off this place!
Tazz: There he is. The #1 contender for the World Heavyweight Championship. Many people feel its his World Title.
Styles: Kurt Angle would beg to differ.
Batista gets ready to speak but a loud “BATISTA!” chant starts off. Batista smiles at the audience. Batista gets ready to talk before a “WE WANT ANGLE!” chant starts up. Batista waits for the chant to die down.
Batista: When I came back from the injured list, I told myself that I needed to accomplish two things. One, was to take out frustration on the man that injured me. At The Great American Bash, I bloodied and defeated “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry.
The audience gives Batista a good pop.
Batista: The second goal on my list was to win back MY World Heavyweight Championship. At SummerSlam, I will complete this goal and become World Champion for the second time.
The audience cheers loudly but a few boos are heard.
Batista: I guarantee, at SummerSlam…
“Medal” blasts over the P.A. for the second time tonight. The World Heavyweight Champion Kurt Angle makes his way down to the ring receiving another incredible ovation from the crowd. Angle enters the ring and glares at Batista. Tony Chimel hands Angle a microphone. Angle begins to speak but a loud “BATISTA!” chant starts up.
Styles: This is the loudest environment I’ve ever been in.
Tazz: The two top superstars, not just on SmackDown! but the whole company in my opinion, in the same ring.
Angle: Batista, I hope you weren’t about to guarantee a victory over me. Because if you do, you’re a God damn liar! Batista look at this belt. (Angle holds his belt in Batista’s face) What name does that say? It says Kurt Angle!
The audience erupts as some members of the crowd boo.
Angle: Take a good look because at SummerSlam its staying with me!
Angle shoves his title a little further in Batista’s face. Batista slaps Angle’s hand out of his face. Angle and Batista get face to face as the audience erupts. A loud “LETS GO ANGLE! LETS GO BATISTA!” chant starts up. “The Animal” and “The Wrestling Machine” look like they are about to come to blows before…..“MacMillitant” hits. Teddy Long appears on the entrance way.
Long: It seems to me that my two top superstars have a little aggression they need to take care of. So next week, right here on Friday Night SmackDown!, the #1 contender, “The Animal” Batista (Loud pop), will team up with the World Heavyweight Champion, “The Wrestling Machine” Kurt Angle (another loud pop) and they will face…..the WWE Tag Team Champions, John Bradshaw Layfield and Mr. Kennedy….Kennedy! Holla! Holla! Holla!
Styles: Oh my Gawd! One of the biggest main events in SmackDown! history takes place next week right here. Angle and Batista team up to face the tag champions JBL and Kennedy.
Tazz: That’s gonna be huge.
Styles: We’ve got something huge coming up right now.
Tazz: You ain’t lying Styles. Up next, “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry takes on Rey Mysterio.
Styles: Henry vs. Mysterio. NEXT!
“Some Bodies Gonna Get It” hits to loud heel heat. Mark Henry makes his way down the ramp with a bandage on his forehead and tape around his midsection. Henry has a somewhat somber look on his face.
Chimel: The following contest is a singles match and it is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, from Silsbee, Texas, weighing in at 400 pounds, he is “The World’s Strongest Man” MARK HENRY!
Styles: Mark Henry did not have a good day this past Sunday. First he was bloodied and beaten by Batista. Then “The Rabid Wolverine” Chris Benoit made his returned and guaranteed to make Henry’s life a living hell.
“Booyaka 619” hits to a great pop. Mysterio shoots out from under the stage with taped ribs.
Chimel: And his opponent, from San Diego, California, weighing in at 165 pounds, REY MYSTERIO!
Tazz: Mysterio didn’t have a good night at The Great American Bash either.
Styles: Thanks to a nasty chokeslam by The Big Show, Rey Mysterio was taken out of the World Title match and now has bruised ribs.
Before the match even begins, Mark Henry begins to wave towards the backstage area. Mysterio looks towards the backstage area for a couple of seconds before….“Crank It Up” blasts over the P.A. system, receiving tremendous heat from the sold out audience. The Big Show makes his way down to the ring with his new manager, Paul Heyman by his side. Mysterio turns back around to Henry and begins throwing right hands in an attempt to not get trapped between the two behemoths. Big Show climbs over the top rope and into the ring. Mysterio starts swinging away on Show. Mysterio then turn around to Henry but gets run over with a clothesline. Henry and Show then begin to dismantle Rey Mysterio. Show lifts Mysterio up to his feet and wraps his huge right hand around his neck. Show then lifts Mysterio high in the air but……“Whatever” plays in the arena to a monstrous ovation. Chris Benoit runs to the ring at full speed and Show drops Mysterio. Show takes a swing at Benoit as Henry immediately leaves the ring. Benoit ducks the huge right of Show and begins to light up the 500 pounder with knife edged chops. Mysterio gets back up and helps Benoit clothesline The Big Show over the top rope. Benoit looks at Henry, who is standing on top of the ramp. Benoit gives Henry the “Throat Slash” taunt as Henry just laughs and walks to the back.
Styles: WOW! Things are getting out of hand around here Tazz. Show wants Mysterio. Benoit wants Henry. Mysterio wants Show. Henry doesn’t want Benoit but he isn’t afraid of Benoit. This is nuts.
Tazz: I don’t know what you just said but I’ll tell you what I do know. We have a huge main event coming up next.
Styles: King Booker vs. Bobby Lashley. Our HUGE Main Event is next!
Styles: We have two huge tag team matches set for next week on SmackDown!
Tazz: Next week, because of what we saw a couple of minutes ago, Chris Benoit teams up with Rey Mysterio to take on the massive team of The Big Show and “The World’s Strongest Man” Mark Henry.
Styles: But that isn’t all because one of the biggest matches in SmackDown history happens. The WWE Tag Team Champions, JBL and Mr. Kennedy team up to take on “The Animal” Batista and “The Wrestling Machine” Kurt Angle.
“Royalty” hits to tremendous heat. King Booker makes his way to the ring with his Royal Court (Queen Sharmell, Finlay and Sir William Regal.) Booker enters the ring and looks focused.
Chimel: The following contest is your MAIN EVENT and it is scheduled for one fall. Introducing first, from Houston, Texas, weighing in at 250 pounds, KING BOOKER!
Styles: King Booker blames Bobby Lashley and that “racist” Teddy Long for his loss at The Great American Bash. Booker gets his chance for payback tonight.
“Soldier” hits to a great ovation. Bobby Lashley makes his way down the ramp and towards the ring.
Chimel: Introducing his opponent, from Colorado Springs, Colorado, weighing in at 273 pounds, BOBBY LASHLEY!
Lashley enters the ring and immediately goes after Booker.
King Booker vs. Bobby Lashley
Lashley takes Booker down with a double leg and immediately begins to wail away on the former Booker T. Lashley lifts Booker up and throws him into the corner. Lashley charges into the corner, attempting a spear but Booker avoids it and Lashley goes shoulder first. Lashley turns around holding his shoulder and he gets drilled with a standing sidekick. Booker with the cover.
Lashley kicks out. Booker lifts Lashley up and hits him with a right hand. Lashley comes back with a right hand of his own. Booker and Lashley begin to exchange right hand in the middle of the ring. Lashley begins to gain the upper hand and backs Booker against the ropes with hard punches. Lashley shoots him off of the ropes and drills him with a back body drop. Lashley waits for Booker to get back up to his feet. Booker gets back to his feet and Lashley drills “The Booker Man” with a belly to belly suplex. Lashley then goes over to a corner and waits for Booker to get back up. King Booker slowly starts to get up and Lashley charges. Lashley goes for a spear but Booker hit’s a beautiful drop toe hold and sends Lashley face first into the bottom turnbuckle pad. Booker quickly gets back up to his feet and begins to “stalk” Lashley. Lashley gets up to his feet and Booker kicks him in the gut. Booker calls for the Scissors Kick and goes for it. Lashley avoids it, quickly shoots off the ropes and drills Booker with a HUGE Spear. The crowd goes crazy as Bobby Lashley covers King Booker.
Finlay and Regal enter the ring and immediately jump Lashley.
(WINNER: Lashley via DQ at 7:32)
Finlay and Regal begin to go to town on Lashley. Booker gets back to his feet and orders his court to hold him up for “The King”. Regal and Finlay hold Lashley up as Booker begins to wail away. Booker drills Lashley with right hands over and over. The fans begin to really get pissed until……..*GONG*…..The lights go out.
