Default Re: 2007 & Beyond - It Ain't Over Yet, Motherfuckers

Thanks for the reviews Legend and Pat. Hopefully the two of you get around to posting shows on a regular basis soon enough.

Monday Night RAW - August 20th, 2007;

“And it’s gonna happen, it’s gonna happen in a TLC MATCH FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP, and after tonight, I can’t wait ONE MORE SECOND to see that lousy BASTARD Randy Orton get what’s coming to him!!!!!”

Goodnight

Raw opens up completely cold, with Lillian Garcia in the ring, holding a microphone.

***SEXY BOY*** The crowd erupts into a mixed reaction, as ‘The Heartbreak Kid’ Shawn Michaels steps out onto the stage, ready to go.

1 - Shawn Michaels vs. Sabu

Attempting to send Rob Van Dam a message just six days before he wrestles him, Michaels decides to attempt to embarrass Sabu. First, HBK out ‘quicks’ him, using a jab and his quick feet to keep the ECW alumnus off balance, before attempting to go to his more traditional offense, but Sabu doesn’t go down easily, putting up a hell of a fight, and manages to keep Michaels on his back foot for quite a bit of the match with his unorthodox offense. The finish comes, however, when Michaels manages to avoid the Air Sabu in the corner, and then swiftly takes Sabu’s head off with Sweet Chin Music! HBK then covers him rather laxly, even yawning as he covers the far leg for the three count.

Winner - Shawn Michaels via pinfall at 6:21.

Jim Ross: What more can you say? Even if you hadn’t ever heard of Shawn Michaels before tonight, I think that match right there said it all. He’s cocky, he’s obnoxious, he’s arrogant … and he’s very, VERY good. One of the greatest WWE Champions of all-time, and this Sunday, he’s gonna be in a match that could very well end up stopping the show; HBK versus Rob Van Dam.

Jerry Lawler: Michaels won their match at Backlash in a classic that went twenty minutes. RVD took the rematch here on Raw in another tremendous twenty minute match up. If those are anything to go by, and if Shawn looks as good as he does tonight, we can expect one hell of a match up at SummerSlam.

Jim Ross: Later on tonight, we’ll see how good RVD looks when he takes on Shawn Michaels’ former tag team partner, Marty Jannetty of the Rockers, later on tonight on Monday Night Raw. But right now, our first of three interviews with all six of the SummerSlam Summer Games Gauntlet competitors. Todd Grisham is standing by!

*Backstage - Interview Area*

Todd Grisham, with microphone in hand, stands by with Carlito, dressed in his cabana wear, apple in hand, and Montel Vontavious Porter, who’s dressed in a black suit, accompanied by his Playgirls and Luther Reigns.

Todd Grisham: Ladies and gentlemen, I’m here with Carlito and MVP and they’ll both be in the Summer Games Gauntlet this Sunday night live at SummerSlam! And, Carlito, what will it take for you to leave the Continental Airlines Arena with a shot at the WWE Title?

Carlito: Ca-

Montel Vontavious Porter:
He knows it doesn’t matter what he brings to the table! Because Carlito isn’t stupid, he’s a brainy man, so he knows damn well that he doesn’t stand a shot of beating Montel Vontavious Porter come this Sunday night.

~ The crowd boos in the background, while Carlito looks at the “new” guy, and Porter’s Playgirls applaud and cheer.

Carlito: You’ve been making a habit of interrupting Carlito lately.

~ MVP lets out a smirk.

Montel Vontavious Porter: Well… when you’re the highest-paid wrestler in the entire company, half-man, half-amazing, you don’t wait, people wait on me. And why in the hell am I havin’ to share interview time anyway? All the money I’m makin’ this company with my mere presence, and I have to share a mic with this ditz and ‘fro bro’ over here? I don’t think so.

Carlito: Well, ‘da fact is, you’ve been here for a cup o’ coffee. Carlito’s been here for three years now, and Carlito’s title shots have been few and far between.

Montel Vontavious Porter: An-

Carlito: So if Carlito’s gotta go through you, and Kenny, and Angle, and ’da big guy, and Mr. Hairspray, then ‘dats what I’ll do.

Montel Vontavious Porter: Lemme-

Carlito: And ‘dat … ‘das cool.

~ Crowd pops

Montel Vontavious Porter: (Backing out of screenshot)Ain’t happenin’, playa, ain’t happenin’.

~ MVP and his entourage head out, while Carlito watches with a scowl on his face. With Montel gone, Lito takes a bite of his apple, and exits screenshot as well.

Jim Ross: Ladies and gentlemen, this Sunday night, there will be no match more anticipated than the WWE Championship war between Edge and Randy Orton in a TLC Match. The two megastars of this brand have been at each other’s throats for the last eight months now, and they will finally meet one on one for the gold at SummerSlam. Let’s show you how this all came about…

*Video Plays*

- At New Year’s Revolution, the WWE Champion Edge and Randy Orton are the last two members of a Six Man Elimination Match. The Rated R Army come down and distract Edge, allowing Orton to hit the RKO and pick up the victory and become the NEW WWE Champion!

Jim Ross:
Not this way! Not this way damn it! We’ve got ourselves a new WWE Champion and it’s that damned Randy Orton!

- After the match, Lita is forced to watch as Edge’s group goes to town on their former leader, beating and bloodying him at the behest of Orton.

Jim Ross:
Enough is enough! Edge is bloody mess.

- After a couple of months on the shelf, and a couple of more months chasing the WWE Title, Edge finally gets a shot at Orton and the WWE Championship at WrestleMania 23 - in a Three Way Dance also involving Shawn Michaels.

Jim Ross:
Edge has definitely got a choice to make tonight. Does he want the WWE Championship or does he want revenge? Because when you’re dealing with two athletes the caliber of Michaels and Orton, there’s no way he’ll be able to take the title if he’s not completely focused on that.

- Edge hits the Spear on Shawn Michaels, and pins him, leaving it down to just Orton and Edge.

Jim Ross:
This man had everything stripped from him in January at New Years Revolution when Randy Orton stole his WWE Championship, stole his Rated R Army and took his blood but he’ll have to choose between Orton’s blood and the title tonight.

- Orton and Edge put on an incredible display of athleticism, but in the end, it’s Orton who retains, countering a potential top rope Spear with a leaping RKO!

Jim Ross:
RANDY ORTON HAS JUST PINNED EDGE!!! ORTON IS STILL THE WWE CHAMPION!!!

- Shot of Orton raising the belt above his head, followed by a shot of dejected Edge.

Jim Ross:
That man right there, “The Rated R Superstar” Edge has absolutely NOTHING to be ashamed of. Both he and Shawn Michaels gave it absolutely everything, and a inch here or there meant the difference in this match up.

Jerry Lawler: Edge managed to put his personal hatred of Orton aside for the sake of the WWE Title, who went for broke on that last move, but it bit him in the keister. No shame on his part for going for it all.

Jim Ross: I can tell you this … you better believe it’s not over between Edge and Orton, not by a long shot.

- Orton holding the belt up the following night on Raw.

Edge:
I know you’re the real deal now, Randy. I know you’ve got it in you to stand in this ring with me, and believe me, there’s nothing more I’d rather do than be the one to slap that sh*t-eating grin off of your face.

- Edge and Orton face to face on that same Raw.

Edge:
This is no longer about getting revenge. Getting revenge doesn’t pay the bills, getting revenge solves nothing, and it sure as hell doesn’t get me what I want. And what I want … is the WWE Championship!

- Edge has an opportunity to earn a title shot by teaming with Ken Doane, to take on Orton, Chris Masters and Joey Mercury, but Orton pins Doane, effectively dashing the hopes of The Rated R Superstar. The Legend Killer earns the right to face anyone he wants for the title.

Randy Orton:
Edge, I don’t like you … or even respect you, but I respect the WWE Championship … I respects what it represents, and that’s why I only defend it against the most deserving - the very best. That’s why next week, right here on Raw, I’ll be defending the WWE Championship … one on one … against Lita.

- After Edge effectively saves Lita from an Orton attack, the Edge-Orton feud becomes convoluted with Angle, Michaels and RVD joining The Rated R Superstar in the title picture. That changes the Raw before Vengeance.

Randy Orton:
(In Lita’s face)Even though [Edge and I will be] teaming together for the first time tonight, Vengeance will be a sight all too familiar for Edge. It’ll be the exact same as WrestleMania 23, it’ll be exactly the same as Backlash, and every other time I’ve put this belt on the line. I’ll be holding this title up, and Edge will staring up at the lights. And Lita, (Orton rubs her face, but she snatches away)that’s not arrogance … it’s destiny.

- Orton and Edge’s hatred for each other carries over into the tag match, costing them victory against Kurt Angle and Shawn Michaels.

- Later that night, Orton takes the feud up to new heights, PUNTING EDGE in the head, and knocking Edge out cold. Lita cries over Edge as The Legend Killer stares down coldly.

- With all of Orton’s antics, he can’t stop Edge at Vengeance, and with two spears on The Legend Killer, EDGE REGAINS THE WWE TITLE.

Randy Orton: EDGE!! You’re nothing but a fluke, a paper champion. You’re not a Rated R Superstar … you’re a Rated R Fraud!
Yeah, the second that you grow a set and step into this ring with me again, the second you put that belt on the line, one-on-one, no hangers-on stealing my glory, no washed-up icons looking for one more run, no pothead piece of crap in my way, I guarantee you, and everybody within the sound of my voice, that the WWE Championship will come back to ME!!

And that’s not arrogance … it’s quite simply … destiny.

- Edge and Orton face to face later that night…

Edge: Get it through your head, Orton. The One Man Dynasty … is OVER! And the Rated R Era has once again BEGUN!! The look on your face right now … the one that knows that he is gonna have to CLAW his way back into the title picture, inch by agonizing inch … over challenger after challenger … through hell and high water, fighting former champions, monsters, savages, young upstarts, hardcore wrestlers, gold medalists, and icons makes it all worth it!!

And, Orton, that’s not arrogance… …it’s payback, you little bitch.

- Orton goes through a rough patch following the loss of his title, taking pinfall losses to both RVD and Carlito, but does get back on the right track, using manipulation to win the number one contender’s battle royal and earning a rematch against Edge.

Edge:
So now, you get what you finally get what you wanted; a shot at me, a shot at the WWE Championship, one-on-one at SummerSlam. Oh, Orton, one more thing. I hate to be the one to tell ya this … Per my contract … for my first WWE Title defense … I get to choose the stipulation! Three little letters will determine what happens at SummerSlam … but they won’t be R - K - O, oh no. They’ll be … T … L … C. You, me, SummerSlam … in a Tables, Ladders, and Chairs Match!

- Various clips of insane TLC Match spots play.

Edge:
August 26th, East Rutherford, New Jersey, in front of 15,000 fans, you and I enter MY playground. We step into my comfort zone. The match that made me who I am today, the match that gave me my start, the match … that I have never lost in, a match … that you have never even been in ... T … L … C!

- More clips of TLC play, but focus on Edge’s tremendous involvement in the matches, capturing gold several times; An Orton smirk.

Randy Orton:
… No matter what circumstance … no matter what stipulation … no matter what situation … the best always comes out on top. And it gets no better than the One Man Dynasty, the next WWE Champion, ‘The Legend Killer’ Randy Orton!!

- Clips of Orton’s brutal destruction of some poor bastard in TLK’s first TLC Match. Two punts to the head, a brutal amount of chair shots, and a Spear through a table, before Orton climbs the ladder, and pulls off the paper, which reads “ ‘THE RATED R SUPERSTAR’ EDGE - R.I.P. - AUGUST 26, 2007”

- Shots of Orton and Edge at each other’s throats for the last eight months, brawling at each and every opportunity…

Jim Ross:
Oh my God!! TLC!! A Tables, Ladders and Chairs Match for the WWE Championship at SummerSlam!!

Jerry Lawler: Tables, ladders and chairs, oh my!!

Jim Ross: Randy Orton gets a shot at the WWE Title he held for five months without rest!! He gets it, he’s got his nemesis, ‘The Rated R Superstar’ Edge at SummerSlam, but he’s got to beat Edge, in Edge’s Match to do it!! My God, what a SummerSlam this is gonna be!!

- Final shot of Orton and Edge face to face with The Rated R Superstar holding the WWE Championship above his head.

*End video*

*Back to ringside*

The crowd cheers as Torrie Wilson and Maria stand in the ring with T-shirt guns, shooting them into the audience. Everybody’s having a good time (waste of), until…

***OBSESSION***

The crowd lets out a mixed reaction as the WWE Women’s Champion Mickie James skips out onto the stage, title over her shoulder, dawned in a white top and pink skirt. Mickie is joined by her … friend, Beth Phoenix, who wears her usual black wrestling outfit and even more usual standard scowl. Maria and Torrie look on rather confusedly as Mickie slides into the ring, while Beth climbs the steps and enters the ring. James gives the two divas an excited wave, during which Phoenix grabs a mic from ringside. Beth hands the mic to a smiling Mickie while the music dies down.

Mickie James: Maria, Torrie, how are you!?

~ Torrie and Maria both kinda shrug their shoulders with nervous smiles.

Mickie James: Now, as the both of you may know, at SummerSlam I have a match with … “her”

~ Mickie seems to disgust herself with the mere thought of Victoria, scrunching her face up and pausing … before smiling again.

Mickie James:
So, I figured you guys could help me tune-up tonight in a tag match!! What do ya’ say!?

~ The excitable Women’s Champion is just that, though Maria and Torrie aren’t thrilled, pointing out to Mickie that they aren’t dressed to compete.

Mickie James: Come on, guys … I’m asking nicely. Pretty please?

~ James bats her eyes with a wide smile, but Torrie and Maria still object for obvious reasons. The smile on Mickie’s face begins to fade away … and a angry scowl arises.

Mickie James: What are you two trying to say? (Begins inching closer to the divas)I’m not worthy of being in the ring with you!? Is that what you’re saying!? I shouldn’t bother wasting my time training because … “she’s” gonna beat me anyway!? Is that what you’re getting at!? HUH!?

~ Mickie seethes with anger as she stares at the two nervous divas and Beth watches with a subtle grin.

Mickie James:
You bitches picked the wrong day to be cocky.

~ James ROCKS Maria with a right hand, knocking her down!!

The crowd boos as Mickie then mounts the young interviewer, and begins to rain down hard right hands!! Torrie attempts to get involved, but she’s soon grabbed by Phoenix and tossed to the ground like a rag doll!! The crowd begins a “VIC-KIE” chant, but no go on that, Instead…

???: Hold on a second! Hold it!

~ Mickie stops beating on Maria, allowing the interviewer to roll out of the ring, while Torrie does the same. The attention of all four divas turn to the stage, as Jonathan Coachman steps out to a plethora of boos.

Jonathan Coachman: What we just saw was a disgrace!! And no way for a couple of WWE Divas to behave!!

~ A portion of the crowd begins to cheer, perhaps thinking that Coachman is going to do the right thing. Dumb-asses.

Jonathan Coachman: I’m completely disgusted … with Maria and Torrie refusing a direct challenge like that!

~ Boos from the audience while Maria and Torrie looked quite shocked.

Jonathan Coachman: My Raw superstars, male or female, can not be cowards! That’s why up next … it’s gonna be Torrie Wilson and Maria … against Beth Phoenix and the Women’s Champion Mickie James!

~ More boos erupt for Coachman, but Coach pays them no mind, giving Beth a bit of a wink … to which she pays no mind. Maria and Torrie are dumbfounded by the goings-on, while Mickie’s eyes tell her emotions, locked on her upcoming opponents, with evil thoughts justa’ flowin’.

2 - Diva Tag Team Match
Women’s Champion Mickie James & Beth Phoenix
vs. Maria & Torrie Wilson

Beth works the opening minute, give or take, of the match, dominating Torrie, but once she tags in Mickie, Phoenix is more than happy to let James get some work in six days before her showdown with Victoria. The Women’s Champion is in rare form tonight, definitely looking as good as she has in a long while, completely DOMINATING her inferior opponents. Mickie finishes off Maria, who somehow got into the match, with a Mickie DDT, and picks up the easy win.

Winners - Mickie James & Beth Phoenix at 3:04.

Jim Ross: Believe me, the last thing I want to do is get on Mickie James’ bad side, and no offense, but Maria and Torrie Wilson are hardly in the same class of wrestler that Victoria is. If she thinks that match is gonna help her beat Victoria, she’s got another thing comin’!

Jerry Lawler: You never know, J.R. As we’ve seen lately, Mickie’s confidence has been wavering in recent weeks, and that’s caused her performance to suffer. Maybe this kinda thing can get her back on the right track. I hope so. We know that Victoria is gonna be there - there isn’t a more focused wrestler around - but if Mickie can focus, she’s still one of the best - if not THE best - in the business, and has been for SIXTEEN months now.

While Torrie checks on Maria, Beth begins to talk to a deranged-looking Mickie, pointing towards the two divas. Phoenix and James finish their side conversation and soon walk towards Torrie and Maria!

Beth grabs Torrie by her long, blonde hair and yanks her up to a vertical base, only for Mickie to deliver a sharp, spinning side kick into her stomach!! Beth lets go as Torrie keels over in pain, but Mickie isn’t done. She lifts Torrie up, holds her face, glares into her eyes for a bit, THEN GIVES HER THE GOODNIGHT KISS~! While the men in the audience react as one would expect, Mickie is all business, quickly delivering a SHARP SPINNING BACK KICK to the skull, turning Torrie’s lights out!!

Jim Ross:
Now, what the hell did that prove? Not a damn thing.

The referee attempts to hand Mickie her title belt, and tell her to leave the ring, but Beth snatches Mickie’s title, and then shoves the ref on his ass. Owned.

The crowd begins to buzz … then cheer rather loudly, as Beth hands Mickie the Women’s Championship. The audience continues to ROAR, as Beth raises Mickie’s hand up, and James shows off the Women’s Title to the three sides of the arena filled with cheering fans … and then towards the entrance side…

… where VICTORIA WAITS at the bottom of the ramp!!!!

Jim Ross: Victoria is here in the building!! Business has just picked up!!

Jerry Lawler: SummerSlam’s here early!! Oh no!

Dressed in a pair of jeans and a top, Vickie also wears a scowl as she stares into the ring at Beth, who doesn’t look all that impressed, and Mickie, who clutches her Women’s Title closely against her bosom (yes, I said ‘bosom’).

Vickie moves right against the ring, and Beth charges forward, looking to reach over the top and grab Victoria by her hair, but Vickie quickly reaches under the ropes, grabs Beth by her feet, and yanks her from the ring!! Mickie watches very closely, as Beth and Victoria square off on the outside. Vickie is the first to attack, throwing a right, but Phoenix blocks it, and delivers a hard knee to the gut! Mickie smiles wildly, even pumping her fist, with Beth gaining the upper hand. Phoenix doesn’t leave it there, however, and goes to IRISH WHIP VICTORIA INTO THE STEEL STEPS … BUT VICKIE COUNTERS, AND SENDS BETH IN SHOULDER FIRST, KNOCKING OVER THE STEEL!!!

The arena is a rockin’, cheering the #1 contender on, as Victoria turns her attention from Beth, and towards Mickie, who stands in shock, still clutching her championship. Vickie lets out a smile … and then makes a throat-slashing motion with her index finger, mouthing “It’s over” to James, who’s eyes light up.

Quickly, MICKIE TURNS TO RUN … BUT MARIA GRABS MICKIE BY HER ARMS!!! The crowd cheers for the usually bubbly interviewer, but it doesn’t take long for Mickie to FLING poor Maria to the ground! Mickie once more tries to run, but VICTORIA GRABS HER BY THE HAIR!!

The excitable brunette can do nothing as Victoria turns her around, and glares into the eyes of the scared Women’s Champion. Mickie shakes her head and Vickie smiles … before she leans down … AND KISSES MICKIE SQUARE ON THE LIPS!!!

As the men howl wildly, Victoria then takes a completely stunned Mickie and simply tosses her down to the canvas!! Vickie looks down at Mickie with a sly smile, and once more reiterates “It’s over”, before she turns and leaves the ring … heading right past a recovering Phoenix … and back up the entrance ramp.

{Mac Note: Vicky might be the baddest thing on two legs. Srsly.}

Still in shock, James reaches over and grabs her Women’s Title once more, though her eyes haven’t moved from Victoria…

*Backstage - Interview Area*

Ranjin Singh stands by with a mic alongside Ken Doane, and John Morrison, who’s accompanied by Melina. While Melina and Morrison are dressed rather spiffily in a dress and a suit, respectively, Doane is dressed in his plain white T-shirt and jeans.

Ranjin Singh: At SummerSlam, live on pay per view Sunday night, both Ken Doane and John Morrison will be in the Summer Games Gauntlet which will crown a number one contender for the WWE Championship. With all of the history between the three of you, Melina included, what is the thought process heading into this match up?

Melina: Thought process? (scoffs)Please. This Sunday night, at SummerSlam, the truth becomes apparent to each and to all. And the truth … is simple; John Morrison, The Guru of Greatness, The Shaman of Sexy, The Monday Night Delight … is fully evolved. He’s passed the point of simple wrestler, like he was when he ran with simpletons like Ken Doane … and he’s now … a full-blown … deity.

~ Morrison poses, while the crowd boos in the background, and Doane shakes his head.

Melina: And, Kenny, how ironic it is that the two of you end up in a match where after Morrison beats you … for the second time, he’ll move onto a wrestler who’s had more success, more title opportunities, and is just better than you. And, no, I’m not speaking of anyone in particular, because they’ve ALL had more success than you.

~ Melina and Morrison smirk, while Doane rolls his eyes, and then brings the mic toward himself.

Ken Doane: Actually … the ironic part is … that Johnny over here has gone through a lot of trouble to become anew; a new hairstyle, a new wardrobe, a new moveset, new nicknames, a whole lot, but yet … he’s still the same gutless coward that lets his woman do the talking for him that he left as.

~ Morrison scowls angrily, while Doane smirks.

John Morrison:
You worthless punk, do you have the faintest idea who you’re talking to!?

~ Kenny turns his attention from Morrison to Singh.

Ken Doane:
But this isn’t about me and John, it’s about SummerSlam, and it’s about a shot at the WWE Championship. (Turns to Melina)And, Melina, you’re right; I’m not the most highly-decorated wrestler in this match, and I’m certainly not the highest-paid. I don’t have gold medals, or a new look, a fancy manager, entourage … or a whore for a girlfriend-

~ OH!; Morrison fumes with anger, while Melina looks disgusted.

Ken Doane:
But I am the most focused. I’m not worried about proving I’m tougher than a monster. I’m not worried about ratings or buyrates. And I’m not worried about being “fully evolved,” whatever the hell that means. All I’m worried about, all I care about is stepping into that ring this Sunday night, going through five other superstars, and leaving with my shot at the WWE Championship!

~ Crowd pops in the background while Melina and Morrison shake their heads.

Ken Doane:
Whatever it takes.

~ The fashionable duo scoff in disgust and head off, while Doane nods a bit, ready for SummerSlam.

*Backstage - Hallway*

The WWE Champion Edge, dressed to compete in his red tights, leather coat, shades & title belt on his shoulder, and Lita, dressed to compete as well, confidently walk down a corridor, and soon turn to their right, but a loud cough emanates from behind them, causing the couple to turn around. The looks on their faces soon darken … as ‘The Legend Killer’ Randy Orton and his RKO Army, Chris Masters and Joey Mercury, approach them. All three wear “rKo Army” shirts, while Orton is the only one dressed to compete. The WWE Champion lets out a smirk, but Orton is the first to speak.

Randy Orton: How do ya feel, Edge?

Edge: A little sore, but hey, it’s nothing compared to what you’ll feel at SummerSlam.

Randy Orton: You know what? You and I … we’re a lot alike … Or, at least… we used to be. You’re cocky … I’m cocky. You’re one of the best wrestlers around today … I’m one of the best to ever lace up a pair of boots. I’m young … you’re … still young … somewhat.

Edge: That’s cute, Randy, and quite the entertaining little speech.

~ Orton lets out a slight smirk … but soon straightens up, cold.

Randy Orton: But that’s where the comparisons end … because when it comes right down to it … you’ve changed … and not for the better. When I came back at Vengeance 2006, the same night you won the WWE Championship, ironically, you and I … we couldn’t have been more alike. But somewhere down the line … The Rated R Superstar ceased to exist … and he was replaced … with the man that stands before me.

~ Edge rolls his eyes, bored… or at least pretending to be, but Orton continues.

Randy Orton:
Somewhere, “the people in the arena” … became “my fans.” Somewhere, “the hot piece of ass that I took from Hardy” … became “my girlfriend.” Somewhere, the WWE Championship stopped being about the prize & ego … and started being about respect. “Anything it takes to win” … became “as long as I try my best.” And the boos from the fans … became cheers. The snarls from the boys … became smiles. The disgust from management became … became respect.
And look at ya …. you think you’re a better man for it … a better champion for it … but you’re not. … You’re weak. The Edge one year ago would completely wipe the floor with this Edge. That Edge would do whatever it took to win, no matter what the cost; the ends justify the means. That Edge was the king of the TLC. That Edge became a multi-time champion. That Edge didn’t care about being cheered or respected, as long as at the end of the night, he could say that he was the best!

~ Edge looks up at Orton, emotionless, while Lita, Masters, Mercury and Orton all look at the champion for a reaction. Not getting one, Randy wipes his mouth and continues

Randy Orton: But that Edge isn’t gone … he’s still here. He-

~ Edge breaks out into a smile.

Edge: Oh, that’s beautiful. Are you gonna say that that Edge is still inside of me?

Randy Orton: No.

~ Orton takes a couple of steps closer to Edge, getting into his ‘personal’ space.

Randy Orton: That Edge … is now … ME!!

~ Edge and Orton stare at one another, both wearing grimaces of intensity on their faces. Orton continues…

Randy Orton: I don’t give a crap what it takes each and every night, and this Sunday, will be no different. I will beat you to a pulp … I will put you through a table … slam you in the head with a chair … hit you with ladders … punt you in the skull for hours on end … if that’s what it takes. I will hurt myself to crush you, Edge. I’ll take three blows to give one. I’ll go through four tables to put you through two. And I’ll do it with a smirk on my face … because I don’t care about my pain, as long as I inflict yours.

~ Orton’s cold eyes pierce through Edge as the challenger continues.

Randy Orton:
Because at the end of the night … it’s not about cheers from the fans … it’s not about respect from the boys … it’s not about the spectacle of it all like the suits say it is, it’s about saying that I am the best in the world, I am The Legend Killer, The One Man Dynasty, and you people should KNEEL before me!!!

~ The eyes of Orton burn with fire as he glares at Edge, who isn’t nearly as intense as The Legend Killer…

Randy Orton: I was gonna tell ya that you should find that Edge … and bring him to SummerSlam … because you can’t win without him … but the fact is, (shrugs shoulders)it wouldn’t matter anyway…

~ Orton lets out another smirk.

Randy Orton: …neither of you could beat me.

~ The Legend Killer and company take off down the hallway, while Edge stands and stares with anger.

3 - World Tag Team Championship; Texas Death Match
The Redneck Wrecking Crew
vs. America’s Most Wanted w/Gail Kim

All four members dress up for the occasion, all wearing jeans and T-shirts, adding to the ‘street fight’-like environment being portrayed here tonight. The opening of the match plays like one would expect it to, with the two brawling taems … brawling with one another. Eventually, the action breaks down, and quite a few weapons become involved. Nothing too violent with a pay-per-view coming up in six days, but it does end up with both tag team champions busted open, Cade from a stiff super kick to his jaw, and Murdoch from a steel chair shot.

The finish sees both Murdoch and Storm brawling on the outside of the ring, while Cade and Chris Harris duke it out on the inside. With a chair set up in the middle of the ring, Harris lifts Cade up and into position for the Catatonic… but Cade fights off of his shoulders, while Murdoch drills Storm with a low blow, and then tosses the poor bastard over the fan barricade and into the crowd! Inside the ring, Cade throws a right, but Harris ducks it, kicks him in the gut and goes for the Irish whip. However, Cade counters and sends The Wildcat in… SWEET ‘N’ SOUR!!! Harris gets flattened by the bloodied tag champion as they both fall on top of him, making damn sure there’s no kicking out of this pin

Winners - RWC via pinfall at 12:54. RWC retain the World Tag Team Titles.

Jim Ross:
The Redneck Wrecking Crew victorious over AMW in a hellacious tag team battle here tonight, firmly establishing themselves as the team to beat. And after this brutal match, you’ve gotta wonder what’s next up for both teams… especially Storm and Harris.

Jerry Lawler: I think we’ve just about seen the last of these two rejects, J.R. AMW came into the WWE on fire, but they fizzled out faster than a firecracker in the sea.

Jim Ross:
I don’t know if I’d go that far, King… but who knows…

The crowd gives a nice pop as the #1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship, Charlie Haas, steps out onto the stage, dressed in a T-shirt and jeans. Haas continues on down the entrance ramp, climbs into the ring, and is soon handed a mic by Lilian Garcia.

Charlie Haas: You’d be shocked what you can do once you get off your ass, right?

~ Haas lets out a bit of a smile, while the crowd cheers a bit.

Charlie Haas:
After years of mediocrity in this company, months of being treated second rate, and weeks of complaining like… well, like a little bitch, I managed to get my career right back on the right track in what seems like a split-second.

~ Haas nods.

Charlie Haas: Now … I’m not ready to throw myself a parade just yet, but this Sunday, I get what I wanted, what I always wanted, what anybody could possible ask for … a shot. An opportunity. Just a chance … And I get that chance this Sunday at SummerSlam, when I go one-on-one for the Intercontinental Championship … against John, Bradshaw, Layfield.

~ Boos from the crowd for the despised Layfield.

Charlie Haas: JBL, a few weeks ago, on this very program, I came down to this ring and told you that I was coming for your Intercontinental Title. That same night, I made you TAP … OUT!!!

~ Crowd cheers, while Haas brings the mic down a bit to look around the arena. A “You Tapped Out” chant starts up, and Haas nods along, until their finished.

Charlie Haas: Last week, I pinned you in the middle of this ring, 1... 2... 3!

~ More cheers.

Charlie Haas: So now, after all the insults, after all the cheap shots, after all the parties, celebrations and the like, we’re gonna meet in the ring for the gold you carry around on your shoulder this Sunday in front of 20,000 people.

~ Haas lets out a bit of a breath, ands shakes his head with a smile before he continues.

Charlie Haas: JBL, I’ve never been one to make predictions, or guarantees, or the like … but I will tell ya this. Sunday night, I will give you everything I have; every single suplex, every submission, every single drop of blood, sweat and tears in my body, and I’ll do it all to get the Intercontinental Championship within my grasp, and-

***LONGHORN***

An immense amount of heat immediately engulfs the entire arena, as John Bradshaw Layfield, the Intercontinental Champion, steps out onto the stage, dressed in a gray suit, his massive white hat, and the title belt draped over his shoulder. Angelina Williams, Layfield’s manager, follows him out, and continues to follow as JBL continues on down to the ring. JBL is none too happy, scowl on his face, as he steps into the ring, and demands a microphone from Lilian. She soon hands him one, while his music dies down, and Haas watches.

John Bradshaw Layfield: Well, isn’t that cute? Isn’t that just wonderful? Charlie Haas has gone from the Brooklyn Brawler to The Rock all in one month.

~ Haas lets out a smile as he shakes his head, while Layfield continues to look stone cold.

John Bradshaw Layfield:
Look at ya, boy, you’re out here with your chest all puffed out, talking like you’re Mr. Big Stuff. But let me remind you and all these idiots of something-

~ Crowd boos

John Bradshaw Layfield: You ain’t one any-damn-thing! Nada! You ain’t one JACK!!

~ JBL glares at Haas with intensity, but the former WGTT member doesn’t back down an inch.

John Bradshaw Layfield: So what, you made me tap out. I tapped out because I knew you would let go like the coward you are, and I didn’t feel like getting my suit dirty!

~ A few members try to get a “Bullshit” chant started, but Layfield quickly talks over them.

John Bradshaw Layfield: Yeah, you beat me last week … with a rollup. And now you think you’ve won something!? You’ve won NOTHING, because I still have the Intercontinental Championship!! I’m still the best wrestler in this business today!! And I am still, WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT, the WRESTLING GAWD!!!

~ Big-time heat for JBL’s most arrogant catchphrase.

John Bradshaw Layfield: You got lucky, but this Sunday, you’ll be the most unlucky person walking the face of this planet. But hell, I don’t blame you for this little spurt of confidence you’ve had, everybody gets it when they get … a little one over on JBL.

~ Layfield backs up with a bit of a smirk.

John Bradshaw Layfield:
The Undertaker, Booker T, The Big Show, your mentor, Kurt Angle, Carlito, at one point or another, they all thought they had my number, they all thought they would be the one to dethrone John Bradshaw Layfield. They all thought they were special, but then … the big match came around, and just like I had predicted, I trounced every … single … one of them.

~ Haas … drops his head a bit, while JBL moves in a bit closer.

John Bradshaw Layfield:
(Bringing his voice down a bit)Son … you don’t stand a chance. Do you honestly think that you’re gonna walk in to one of the biggest pay-per-views of the year, after not being on a pay-per-view all year, and beat the longest reigning WWE Champion of the decade, a GRAND SLAM Champion, and the greatest Intercontinental Champion of all-time?

~ A “Charlie” chant actually gets started, but the man being represented by the chant seems to be losing confidence by the moment, as JBL gets right into his face (or the top of his head really; Haas’s head is down)

John Bradshaw Layfield:
Son, you’ve gotta look deep into yourself, and ask, do you honestly think that you can do it with it all on the line?

~ Layfield backs up, while Haas lifts his head up and stares around the arena a bit. The crowd cheers the challenger on, before Haas brings the mic up.

Charlie Haas: ………Yes.

~ The crowd lets out a loud cheer, while Haas stares confidently into the eyes of a somewhat shocked JBL. Angelina puts her head down and shakes it with a bit of a smile while Haas continues.

Charlie Haas:
You can think whatever you’d like, but I’m comin’ to wrestle this Sunday. And, John, you’ve gotta look deep into yourself, and ask, do you honestly think that when the time for talking stops, you can step into the ring … and prove everything you just said?

~ JBL’s look of shock turns to one of anger and disgust, maddened by the gall of Haas.

Charlie Haas:
See ya Sunday.

~ Haas drops the mic, and gets a nice pop from the crowd as his music hits. He then takes off past Layfield, and leaves the ring, while leaving JBL and Angelina in the ring, left to prepare for a focused Haas at SummerSlam.

*Backstage - Interview Area*

Just like the two times previously, an interviewer, this time Todd Grisham, stands by to do an interview. But unlike before, the camera pans back to reveal a dozen or so security guards flanking Grisham, as … KURT ANGLE and UMAGA & Armando Alejandro Estrada stand on opposite sides of the security. The Wrestling Machine seems to be more composed than usual, eyes locked on Umaga, while The Samoan Bulldozer returns the glare, and Estrada wears one of his awesome faces.

Todd Grisham:
I’m standing by with Kurt Angle and Umaga, two men who will be in the Summer Games Gauntlet at SummerSlam this Sunday, and I’ll start with you, Kurt. With Umaga coming in last, what is your strategy heading into the matchup?

Kurt Angle: You wanna know what my strategy is? The same strategy I have for every match: Destroy.

~ The crowd pops in the background.

Armando Alejandro Estrada:
That strategy didn’t seem to work too well in the last match, me amigo. Haha!

Kurt Angle: (Scoffs)You know what? I hope I enter the match number one. Yeah… the very first entrant. Just so I’ll know that these two clowns are back there watching me completely OBLITERATE each and every person in that match … Angle Slam on Morrison, Belly-to-Belly on Porter, German to Doane, Ankle Lock on Carlito … and then, after I’m done with them, I’ll expose Umaga for the overhyped, protected talent that he actually is. He may have gotten one over on me last week, but it’ll NEVER happen again. Oh, it’s true. It’s DAMN true!

~ More cheers from the crowd, as AAE shakes his head in disgust.

Armando Alejandro Estrada:
Kurt, haha, me amigo, overhyped? This monster is undefeated. Completely CRUSHING anybody who stands in his way, and he’s done it for over a year! It’s not hype, Kurt, it’s fact. And ju’re gonna find out this Sunday at SummerSlam just how real it is, when you step into the ring with the SAAAAAAAMOAN BULLDOZER UUUUUUUUMAGAAA!!! HAHA!!

~ The crowd chants along, and then gives a mixed reaction, while Angle lets out a bit of a smirk.

Kurt Angle:
Time for talking is just about over, don’t cha’ think? See ya Sunday,

Armando Alejandro Estrada:
I think ju’re right. But I also think, ee may see ju Sunday, but afterwards, me amigo, ju won’t remember anything, haha.

Umaga: AHHH!!!!

~ Angle looks at The Bulldozer, and scoffs, before he slowly backs away, keeping his eyes on Umaga the entire time, while AAE pulls his monster away, both sides saving it for Sunday.

4 - Rob Van Dam vs. Marty Jannetty
*Shawn Michaels on commentary*

While some of the older fans are a bit responsive to Marty, it’s of no comparison to the immense amount of adulation that Van Dam receives throughout the matchup. And, much like Michaels was earlier in the night, RVD is in top form tonight, completely outclassing HBK’s former tag team partner. The finish of the match sees Van Dan avoid the Rocker Dropper before taking Jannetty’s head off with a spinning back kick! Marty gets up dazed & confused, and RVD scoops him up before hitting a body slam. Van Dam quickly follows that up with a Rolling Thunder and then the Five Star Frog Splash for the win.

Winner - Rob Van Dam via pinfall at 5:11.

Shawn Michaels: (While letting out faux applause) Oh, what a win for Van Dam. Oh beautiful moves, J.R, wouldn’t you say? Won’t amount to a hill of beans come SummerSlam, but impressive nevertheless.

Jim Ross: You wouldn’t happen to be underestimating Van Dam, would you, Shawn?

Shawn Michaels: Absolutely not. I expect the toughest (looks at watch) six minutes of my life come Sunday night at SummerSlam. It’s gonna be a hell of a match.

RVD climbs a turnbuckle and raises his arms into the sky, receiving a huge ovation, while Michaels leans back in his chair, tosses his feet up onto the announce table, and simply watches, unimpressed.

Once we return to the broadcast, ‘Whine Up’ by Kat Deluna, the SummerSlam theme, begins to play.

Jim Ross: Ladies and gentlemen, you hear the music in the background … Whine Up by Kat Deluna, and that is the official SummerSlam theme song. And what a night it’ll be in the Continental Airlines Arena this Sunday night on pay-per-view.

Jerry Lawler: And a special start time, J.R.; 7:30 on the east coast. It’s a three and a half hour edition of SummerSlam, so if you show at 8, my friends, you’ll be missing quite a portion of the action. 7:30 this Sunday, mark it down.

Jim Ross: Absolutely, the hottest party of the Summer, SummerSlam, with a special start time, and we’ve got a whole lot of special matchups for ya this Sunday. Oh, we’ve been waiting for this one since they tied up the series at one apiece, and at SummerSlam they’ll settle the score. It’s ‘The Showstopper’ Shawn Michaels versus ‘The Whole Dam Show’ Rob Van Dam in the rubber match!

Jerry Lawler:
It’s gotten more and more personal in recent weeks, but on Sunday night, both men will only be able to rely on their incredible God-given talent to get the job done in that squared circle. That match may very well stop the show this Sunday, no pun intended.

Jim Ross: Lots of pride and bragging rights on the line in that one, but when John Bradshaw Layfield takes on Charlie Haas this Sunday, they’ll be more than pride on the line, JBL’s Intercontinental Championship will be up for grabs!

Jerry Lawler: Haas is in the head of JBL. He’s pinned Bradshaw, he’s made him submit, and with his newfound confidence in his ability, the Intercontinental Title reign of the Wall Street Warrior just may be coming to an end.

Jim Ross:
Six men, one prize, a WWE Championship Match down the road for the winner of the Summer Games Gauntlet!

Jerry Lawler:
Kurt Angle, John Morrison, MVP, Ken Doane, Carlito and Umaga battle it out for a shot at the richest prize in the game. And with the undefeated Samoan Bulldozer having the final entry into the gauntlet style matchup, he’s got to be the odds-on favorite by FAR.

Jim Ross: No doubt about that. The most anticipated rematch for the Women’s Title in WWE history, and the most anticipated women’s match … since the first one! The dominant, but intimidated, SIXTEEN MONTH Women’s Champion, Mickie James, takes on the incredibly skilled, focused, and ready, Victoria at SummerSlam!

Jerry Lawler:
With all outside parties banned from ringside, Victoria has the perfect opportunity to right the wrongs of WrestleMania 23 … but she’s only got ten minutes to do it! If time runs out, or Mickie manages to retain, Victoria can NEVER get another opportunity at the Women’s Championship. I can’t wait for that one.

Jim Ross: Our SmackDown colleagues, Joey Styles, Michael Cole and Tazz are waiting by in WWE studios, ready to give us all we need to know about SmackDown’s matches in this historic event. Guys, take it away.

~ Cut to studio.

Joey Styles:
Thanks, J.R. Raw has some tremendous matches lined up for SummerSlam this year, but SmackDown’s matches far and away blow the ‘red brand’s’ card out of the water.

Michael Cole: No doubt about that, Joey. Some of the most eagerly anticipated matches of the year come from SmackDown.

Joey Styles: For the United States Championship, Matt Hardy defends against ‘The Fallen Angel’ Christopher Daniels.

Tazz:
It started out being for the title, but now it’s gotten downright personal for Matt Hardy. Chris Daniels assaulted his younger brother, Jeff, put him on the shelf, and now, Hardy is out for payback. But will he do it at the expense of his United States Title?

Michael Cole:
Huge Ten Man Tag Team match up, just signed Friday night. William Regal, Booker T’s New Breed, Mark Henry, and the Cruiserweight Champion Jamie Noble take on CM Punk, ‘The Fighting Irishman’ Finlay, Chavo Guerrero, Rey Mysterio, and the ‘BIG RED MACHINE’ KANE!!

Tazz: Kane made one hell of an impact in his return to Friday nights this past week, but Booker, Regal and company have done their fair share of damage in the last couple of weeks. It’s gonna be a war at SummerSlam.

Joey Styles:
In what in my estimation has been the GREATEST tag team feud in recent WWE history, The Carolina Connection and The Hooligans add another piece to it this Sunday. Two out of Three Falls Match, Shelton Benjamin and Gregory Helms defend the WWE Tag Team Titles against Paul London and Brian Kendrick!

Tazz: The boys from the kakalakis have been calling themselves the best team that the company has to offer for the longest while now, but they’ve got their work cut out for them if they want to beat The Hooligans two falls out of three to retain the WWE Tag Team Championship.

Michael Cole: Forget best friends, these two are almost as close as family, but they’ll be slugging it out this Sunday for the Money in the Bank briefcase and a shot at the World Heavyweight Championship. Mr. Money in the Bank, ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair takes on his protégé, ‘The Animal’ Batista!

Tazz: When most families get into disagreements, a couple of words get exchanged, and that’s that. Flair and Batista are gonna settle it in the ring, and after the match, they’ll both still have each other’s respect, but only one will have a shot at the World Title.

Joey Styles: And, OH MY GAWD, the main event!! For the World Heavyweight Championship, the brash, arrogant and popular World Champion Mr. Kennedy, takes on one of the greatest icons in the history of this business, The People’s Champion, The Brahma Bull, The Great One, The Rock!

Tazz: Rock has taken this thing up a notch, and Kennedy has matched him pace for pace it would seem, but in my opinion, the head games are gonna cease and desist come SummerSlam, when these two lock it up in the middle of the ring for the twenty pounds of gold!

Michael Cole: What an event this is gonna be.

Joey Styles: There you have all the SmackDown matches, back to you, J.R.\

~ Back to ringside.

Jim Ross: Thank you, Joey, Tazz, Michael … but I’ve gotta correct you guys on one thing … Kennedy/Rock is SmackDown’s main event! THE SummerSlam main event comes from Monday Night Raw! For eight months, people have been begging to see these two guys lock it up one on one for the WWE Championship, and this Sunday we’re gonna get it. It’s Edge, it’s Orton, it’s TLC, this Sunday night in New Jersey!

Jerry Lawler: They were in the ring at New Years Revolution … but it was a Six Pack. They locked up at WrestleMania … but it was a Three Way Dance. At Backlash, it was a Six Man Tag. Vengeance, Five Way Match. This Sunday is the first time the two will be the first time in HISTORY that the two meet one on one for the WWE Championship, and it’s gonna be contested under TLC rules at SummerSlam! One of the most brutal matches in our history for all the marbles, Jim!

Jim Ross: It’s gonna be an epic battle on an epic night in the Hottest Party of the Summer! SummerSlam, this Sunday night, folks, a half-hour early, 7:30, don’t forget it, and whatever you do, DON’T MISS IT!!

5 - Main Event; Mixed Tag Team Match
WWE Champion Edge & Lita
vs. Randy Orton & Trish Stratus

After the entrances, we’re treated to our final commercial break, and then taken into the contest. Throughout the match, we’re treated to a history lesson from J.R., who gives us everything we could possibly need to know about the Edge/Orton rivalry, giving us the hard sell for the Raw main event of SummerSlam.

Unsurprisingly, Trish and Lita spend the majority of the time in the ring, showing the reason their rivalry in the early 2000s was adored so much, while the two main event stars wait impatiently on the apron. Eventually, however, the hot tags are made to both Orton and Edge and the crowd EXPLODES as The Legend Killer and The Rated R Superstar meet in the ring, six days before they take each other on in TLC war!

Coming off the hot tag, Edge is on fire, taking Orton down with clotheslines, right hands, back body drops, and even a stiff boot to the face in the following moments. Young Randall is eventually able to put a cover on the fired up superstar, first with a thumb to the eye, and then a modified backbreaker. Orton dominates for a moment or two, but when he goes to put Edge away with the RKO … the WWE Champion manages to counter, shoving the #1 contender down to the ground … and then locks in the EDGECATOR!!

The crowd cheers as Orton screams out in pain, struggling to get to the ropes. After many seconds of being locked in the devastating submission hold, Orton finally gets within arms reach of the ropes … BUT EDGE DRAGS HIM BACK TO THE MIDDLE OF THE RING!! The Legend Killer lifts his arm up, possibly ready to submit … but TRISH ENTERS THE RING AND CLUBS EDGE IN THE BACK!

The blow doesn’t hurt The Rated R Superstar that much, but it does cause him to turn around angrily, letting go of the hold. Trish shakes her head, as Edge begins to approach her … but he doesn’t get to do anything … as LITA TACKLES TRISH DOWN, and begins to rain right hands down on the six-time Women’s Champion!! After the fiery redhead gets in several shots, Stratus manages to shove her off and struggle back up to her feet, holding onto the ropes. Lita gets back up as well, and charges in, only to be dumped over the top rope by Trish!!

On the other side of the ring, Edge lifts Orton up, brings him toward the middle of the ropes, and shoots him off. The Legend Killer comes back, avoids a right hand, THEN GOES FOR THE RKO - BUT EDGE COUNTERS AGAIN, SPINNING INTO A POSSIBLE EDGECUTION - BUT ORTON COUNTERS AS WELL, GOING FOR ANOTHER RKO … BUT EDGE SHOVES HIM DOWN TO THE CANVAS!!

The WWE Champion walks away from Orton and to the corner … getting into position for a SPEAR, while Orton begins to stagger up to his feet. Edge calls for Orton to get all the way back … and eventually, he does, and…

… EDGE CHARGES … BUT … ORTON PULLS TRISH IN THE WAY, AND EDGE DRILLS STRATUS WITH A SPEAR!!!

Even though Stratus is a heel, the crowd boos the cowardly actions of Orton ferociously, while Edge looks down at the crumpled up body of Stratus in shock. Edge gets up, running his hands through his hair with a look of disgust … only to be turned around … AND DROPPED WITH A DEVASTATING RKO!!!

Orton rolls Edge over, and covers him, hooking both legs for effect with a HUGE grin on his face. 1... 2... 3!!

Winners - Randy Orton and Trish Stratus via pinfall at 10:42.

Jim Ross: RANDY ORTON, THAT NO GOOD SON OF A BITCH, HAS JUST PINNED THE WWE CHAMPION!!

Jerry Lawler: Trish Stratus might’ve been broken in half by Edge’s inadvertent Spear here tonight! I mean, we knew Orton would do whatever it took to pick up some momentum for SummerSlam, but-

Jim Ross:
He went over the line tonight, plain and simple, King!! The man is a no-good bastard- and oh, look at this. His two sycophants, his RKO Army, coming down to celebrate what, in my view, was a disgusting act and a disgusting performance by what very well may be our next WWE Champion come after SummerSlam.

As J.R. alluded to, both Chris Masters and Joey Mercury have come down to the ring, and have joined Orton, who stands over Edge. The referee does the right thing, checking on Stratus, but that may not be the smart thing at the moment. The Legend Killer speaks to Masters and Mercury, giving his army their marching orders, before he leaves the ring.

Jim Ross:
Oh, what the hell is this now!? The damn match is over, Orton gets his damn title shot at SummerSlam, and he’s still not done!

Masters and Mercury lift Edge, their former leader, up and begin to tie his arms up in between the top and middle ropes, holding him still in a ‘crucifix position’. Outside the ring, Orton grabs the WWE Championship from the timekeeper and slides it into the ring… before he then turns to his right…

Jerry Lawler: You wanna talk about crossing a line … Orton’s about to spit on the line, and then JUMP across it.

…looking at Lita, who holds her neck in pain as she lies on the floor. The Legend Killer soon GRABS Edge’s girlfriend by her hair, and tosses her into the ring as well!! Orton slides in, like a snake, as Edge begins to come to.

Jim Ross:
Please, God, tell me Orton’s not gonna be as disgusting as we know he can be. This is too much! Somebody get out here, damn it!

As soon as Edge sees both Lita and Orton standing in front of him, his eyes light up, and he begins to move around wildly … but he can’t do anything, as his arms are not only tangled up in the ropes, but being held by both Masters and Mercury!! With his eyes locked on an INFURIATED and ENRAGED Edge, Orton bends down, grabbing Lita by her hair and looks at the terrified former Women’s Champion with a sick grin.

Jim Ross: SOMEBODY GET OUT HERE!!

Jerry Lawler:
(Getting up from his chair)I can’t take this, J.R. Somebody’s gotta do somethin’.

Before King does anything stupid, several road agents, referees, a half dozen wrestlers and even Jonathan Coachman run down to the ring, but before they slide in, Orton yells out for them to “Back the hell up, before I break her damn neck!!”, causing them to stop. The worried onlookers beg for Orton to reconsider, while Edge’s face has now turned from anger, to unadulterated FEAR of what Orton just might do to his girlfriend.

Jerry Lawler: Oh my God, what- what exactly are we gonna see right now?

Orton tosses Lita to the ground, and puts his boot on the back of her head, as he stares at a terrified Edge, who desperately attempts to get free, but is being held by the incredibly powerful Masters and competent Mercury … who don’t look to be too thrilled by the current situation either. Orton then takes his boot off of her … and walks toward the corner, while the crowd has almost gone completely silent, just as scared as everybody else involved…

Lita attempts to crawl away, but there’s not much she can do. Masters and Mercury actually turn their heads from the goings-on, and the officials on the outside all watch with disgust and nervousness. As Edge looks on, damn near out of his mind, fraught with dread and horror, Orton then … CHARGES AHEAD … LOOKING FOR THE PUNT TO LITA’S HEAD…

Jerry Lawler: DON’T!!!

Jim Ross: JESUS!!!

…but…

…Orton stops short.

As Lita cowers on the ground, scared out of her mind, Orton turns his attention from the petrified redhead, to his SummerSlam opponent, who has tears in his eyes at the happenings. The Legend Killer then lets out a smirk … and then … actually begins laughing wildly at Edge’s panic, and humiliation, in his eyes at least.

Jim Ross: …no-good, lousy S.O.B.

The crowd begins to boo ferociously, giving Orton some of the most ungodly we’ve heard in a long time, while EDGE SNAPS, cussing up a storm, throwing out every four and five letter word in the book, as his face becomes overcome with veins of intensity around his eyes, neck and mouth. The Legend Killer bends down and picks up the WWE Championship … and looks at it with lust in his eyes.

Jim Ross:
…………What has happened to Randy Orton? This kid has always been arrogant, he’s always been cocky … but this … this was just far and beyond anything I can even comprehend someone like Orton doing. I can’t wrap my head around what’s going on with this kid. Taking pleasure in the absolute torment of other human beings.

Jerry Lawler:
I don’t think anybody else ‘gets’ him either, and I don’t really want to. But look at Edge. Edge wants to KILL Randy Orton! He wants to kill him, and I can’t blame him. There’re some fans in this arena right now who want to kill Randy Orton, but Edge is gonna get the opportunity. He’s gonna get the shot at SummerSlam, when Edge and Orton meet over the WWE Championship!

A couple of the referees grow a HUGE set of balls and quickly enter the ring and grab Lita, pulling her out of the ring … but Orton pays them no mind, eyes LOCKED on the WWE Title.

Jim Ross:
Ladies and gentlemen, you wanna talk about taking things up a level, kicking things up a notch, Randy Orton did all of that and more here tonight, and by god, I hope he gets everything he’s got coming to him at SummerSlam! When ‘The Rated R Superstar’ Edge looks across from that ring at Randy Orton, and sees that sickening smile, and remembers what he threatened to do to that young woman here tonight, I can’t even IMAGINE what Edge is gonna wanna do to him!!

Jerry Lawler:
You won’t have to imagine for too much longer, J.R.

With Masters and Mercury holding back Edge with every fiber of their being, and a furious Edge doing everything in his power to get free, Orton is the complete opposite, almost surreal in his stance, as he stares at the championship he held for six months.

Jim Ross:
(Cue awesome J.R. hard sell)This Sunday night on pay-per-view, we’ve waited EIGHT - LONG - MONTHS for it to actually happen, we’ve waited EIGHT - LONG - MONTHS to see these two men lock it up in the squared circle ONE-ON-ONE, no interference, no RKO Army, mano e mano!! And it’s gonna happen, it’s gonna happen in a TLC MATCH FOR THE WWE CHAMPIONSHIP, and after tonight, I can’t wait ONE MORE SECOND to see that lousy BASTARD Randy Orton get what’s coming to him!! Ladies and gentlemen, EDGE VERSUS RANDY ORTON for the WWE Championship, Tables, Ladders and Chairs, AT SUMMERSLAM!!! BAH GOD, IT’S GONNA BE AN EXPLOSION, AN ALL-OUT WAR AT SUMMERSLAM THIS SUNDAY NIGHT ON PAY PER VIEW!!!

The One Man Dynasty turns his head from the belt and to Edge, and we get the final shot on the ‘goodnight’ edition of Raw, a LIVID champion being held in place by his former group, while he stares at a tranquil, but clearly sadistic, challenger, who looks right on back … no fear … no remorse … no regret … just focus. Fade out…

Best Jim Ross comment in this thread, EVER!

Anyway Mac, I'm not going to leave a long-ass review as I don't do that anymore, but I am going to say a few things.

Firstly, I'd just like to say that the Orton/Edge feud has been nothing short of amazing. Not one piece of writing in this thread hasn't been written damn-near perfectly, and I may be going out on a limb here but it could very well be the best feud I have ever read in the BTB forum. The way you've designed Orton as the ultimate heel, Edge as the not-so perfect face who will always keep fighting back, is just great. I especially liked the final promo before SummerSlam and how you cleverly thought about Orton "becoming" the "old" Edge. I also liked how Orton didn't kick Lita's head off, because he didn't have to kick her head off. He knows he hurt Edge, and that's all that matters. The best heel is always the one that makes the face suffer, and bides their time, rather than getting straight to the physical punishment. I can't wait to read the final chapter of this epic story, which I hope, should see Edge finally get beat Orton once and for all.

Meanwhile over on Smackdown!, I want more of the hilarious heel Teddy Long. I love the way you've developed his character, and he actually has a purpose now, rather than simply coming out as the fun-loving, simplistic GM making announcements.

I also like the Batista/Flair situation, and how it's been played out. As someone else mentioned earlier, it's quite realistic in the sense that Batista hasn't completely turned on Flair yet, although I do see it happening.

The only thing I'm not too crazy about is the Kennedy/Rock feud. I don't why, but something just doesn't click. Maybe it's because I'm not really liking Kennedy as the world champion. Maybe it's because of his real-life status, but I just don't see him as good as the Rocks and Cenas and Triple Hs. Even a win over the Rock at SummerSlam (which is what I think you're planning) won't make him look that strong.

Default Re: 2007 & Beyond - It Ain't Over Yet, Motherfuckers

Kicking off the show with a match? I'm expecting some sexual promos throughout the night in that case. Nothing more than a showcase foor ol' HBK though, despite your continual efforts to make Sabu sound credible. This is one glorified jobber who's fast running out of glory, Mac. Loving the heightened commentator interaction to by the way.

Yep, so we're definitely shaping to get Carlito|Porter feuding in the aftermath of SummerSlam. Carly's push = over. Another good segment between these two, following on from the Cabana last week. Despire 'VP's best efforts, 'Lito won this war of words with this little line "So if Carlito’s gotta go through you, and Kenny, and Angle, and ’da big guy, and Mr. Hairspray, then ‘dats what I’ll do." Umaga & Morrison = owned. Quick prediction for the Gauntlet: MVP eliminates Carlito.

Great Video Package. Smart choice to place it on the show, seeing as we're only getting a Mixed Tag Team main event as a final send off. As you well know, I know this thread like the back of my hand, so a recap didn't help me understand this glorious feud anymore.

Ah ha, I thought we might be getting a Women's title segment, what with Edge|Orton, HBK|RVD and the Gauntlet Guys already busy. Pretty nifty stuff to begin with, Mickie OWNING those two talentless bimbos in every way possible. Coach was his usual greatness too. I know I've said it before, but it really is cool how you've stuck the heel GM in a semi-feud with a Diva. It really is something you never see. Very original, Mac, very original indeed. Let's not go crazy with the lesbianism now, eh? Yes, it's fun to see 'em making out, but make it sparing. Loved Vicky's "return" HARD. She really is that bad ass. I'm still hoping for a Mickie win at the PPV though...

You do bad promos anymore? Seriously, who'd have thought that a Ken Doane and Melina|Morrison segment could be this good. Doane shone here especially, which he needed after coming across slightly generic last week on the Cabana. Melina still OWNS though. "And, Melina, you’re right; I’m not the most highly-decorated wrestler in this match, and I’m certainly not the highest-paid. I don’t have gold medals, or a new look, a fancy manager, entourage … or a whore for a girlfriend-" Really good build up for him as the underdog of the bunch; it will get him a lot of support. Glad you brought up history too, and you let Johnny talk. More of that.

Oh WOW. You just topped your Kennedy|Rock and Batista|Flair promos with thisy doozy from Orton & Edge, Really, just ... WOW. The idea of Orton bringing up Edge's heelish ways, the way he used to be when he invented the TLC match, was pure genius. It rings of Foley|Edge earlier this year, with Orton mocking Edge for what he needs to be to win this Sunday ... and Orton is already there. Really tremendous stuff here, Mac. I'm almost speechless. Don't know what else to say.

Great Texas Death Match to appease me and Pat. No surprise at the brutality or the result. It is indeed make or break time for AMW now. If they stay on Raw then they're pretty much doomed. Perhaps a draft looms for 'em?

JBL|Haas promo? Nice. Great to see your undercard getting some much needed love tonight {Mickie|Vick being the other}. I've never thought that Haas is anywhere near as bad on the mike as everyone makes him out to be. He just never really gets the chance to say anything. Short but sweet segment between he and JBL with Chaz moving more and more in that "Kurt Angle" direction with his intense attitude, while Layfield was, obviously, awesome. Charlie still has that "young man, rookie" edge to him almost, portraying himself as the underdog - kind of like Doane earlier. His words to JBL, "You can think whatever you’d like, but I’m comin’ to wrestle this Sunday. And, John, you’ve gotta look deep into yourself, and ask, do you honestly think that when the time for talking stops, you can step into the ring … and prove everything you just said?", make me think that he might snap this Sunday and retain in quite a convincing fashion. Hope that doesn't happen though, as I'd love for Haas to keep on getting stronger and stronger, despite being in a losing effort.

Here we go. The two men that this sunday's Gauntlet match is ALL about: Kurt Angle and Umaga. Angle and Estrada both got shots in on each other with the AWESOME AAE still full of himself after last week. Some rather strange comments from Kurt: "I’ll expose Umaga for the overhyped, protected talent that he actually is." What? Don't know quite what he was getting at there. Whatever the case, one of these two men is winning the Summer Games Gauntlet and challenging Edge for the title down the line.

I would have liked Van Dam to have blitzed Jannetty even quicker, but I'll settle for 5 minutes. Michaels was extremely funny on commentary, I won't deny that; it's just that both you and me know that this match is a foregone conclusion and Shawn is going over on PPV ... again.

Well the main event was certainly a pleasant surprise, with a hell of a lot going on. All of the counter wrestling between Orton & Edge has me disappointed that we won't get to see them go at it in a straight, one on one contest one time. Maybe in the future? SICK move by Randy at the end to pick up the win, getting Trish killed by Edge.

The aftermath gets a separate PARAGRAPH~ You know it's good know. That was ... incredible, Mac. You have found the perfect blend of arrogance and insanity for Orton, which makes outbursts like this "attack" of Lita all the more powerful. He expressions as he prepared to strike her, then stopped short and mocked Edge, well they were just priceless. This whole segment was so splendidly written, I honestly don't think ou could've pushed your Raw main event any better. Until I see SD, I'm going to have to say that Orton|Edge is so close to replacing Batista|Flair as greatest feud ever, as the months since Vengeance have just added a whole new dimension to both men. Just a shame that while Flair & Big Dave are just getting started, Edge & Orton's is coming to a close.

Really sensational work this week, Mac. You gave HBK|RVD & the SGGauntlet the subtle backseat to hype the Women's & IC title matches some more, and it really paid off. Don't even think I need to say anything about Edge|Orton other than WOW. MOTY this Sunday.

F.Y.I.: My thread returns Nov. 8th

Raw Feedback

This was the way I figured Raw needed to start, with The Showstopper getting his final tune-up before the showdown with RVD at S’Slam. Glad to see that Sabu wasn’t completely squashed, as he got in some offense, but everyone knew HBK would get the win. The laxidasical cover was awesome, HBK couldn’t be more arrogant heading into S’Slam. RVD should impress against Jannetty later on, as this feud is almost set to conclude in an awesome way.

The Gauntlet interview sound pretty cool, good way for these guys to play a lesser role after stealing the show last week. It’s quite obvious that MVP and Carly will be doing their thing after S’Slam, and the interaction between the two was comical. Hopefully they get some good time in the ring on Sunday, because these two can have a very good feud.

Tremendous video package for the feud between Orton and Edge. One of the best in BTB history, imo. Will all the video packages be like this for S’Slam? The same way they were for WM23? God, I hope so!

Mickie is acting far too happy just six days before she faces Victoria. I loved how she acted real nice and then just started wailing on Maria. Coach coming out and making Maria and Torrie wrestle was so in character … and the wink at Beth OWNED, tbh. No surprise that Beth and Mickie completely dominate, with Mickie picking up the win. It looks like the assault will continue and it does … but here comes Victoria! Vicky just dominates Beth on the outside and then heads in to take on Mickie. GOODNIGHT KISS TO MICKIE~! Two of those in a five-minute stretch … you’d never see that IRL. Victoria looks so good heading into S’Slam … has been on a roll since WM23 … and Mickie has been faltering … and that is why you will pull a fast one … AND KEEP THE BELT ON MICKIE. Just a thought.

Giving Melina the stick is probably best for everyone. Good little promo by her before Doane fires back … first time we’ve really heard him on the mic. These two will obviously continue feuding after S’Slam … and Doane seems to be more ready than Morrison. We shall see.

That speech by Orton to Edge was simply PHENOMENAL. You captured his character so perfectly and he said all the right things to get under Edge’s skin. Talking about the Edge of ’06 compared to the Edge of ’07 was spot on … in regard to Edge’s personality. Orton has all the confidence in the world, as he should, because he is ready for the WAR on Sunday. I guess we will see if Edge is ready later tonight.

Sounded like an awesome match between the two best tag teams on Raw … but it was the right choice for it to be on Raw and not S’Slam. That bitch is just far too loaded. Not very surprised to see Cade and Murdoch pick up the win but AMW put up a hell of a fight. Interested to see where both teams go. Who will challenge the RWC? And was this the last we will see of AMW?

HAAS WITH A PROMO~!! Charlie actually doesn’t sound too bad on the stick … amazing what can happen when he is put into a real feud. No surprise that Haas is confident and is ready to wrap it up before JBL makes his presence known. JBL, arrogant as ever, tries very hard to make Haas lose some confidence and that looks to be the case … but Charlie makes his intentions known. He is going to be at S’Slam and he is going to give his best … no matter what JBL thinks. This feud has been good in the short time we have seen it … hopefully the match delivers this Sunday.

Glad that the interview between Umaga and Angle had the least amount of screen time … everyone knows what these two are all about. Angle talks about Umaga being overhyped but I think anyone who has read this thread would have to disagree. I am almost positive that it will come down to these two in the Gauntlet … just have no idea who will come out on top. The security guards made this segment even better, tbh.

No surprise that RVD dominates Jannetty. I am assuming Marty was released after this match, right? RVD gets the victory in his typical fashion, while Michaels is still as arrogant as he was earlier. Michaels is underestimating Van Dam way too much … and I see Rob getting the win at S’Slam. Not sure where either man goes following the Rubber Match, though.

Awesome final card rundown for the show. Did I mention I am excited? Well … I am.

This was an amazing main event to have right before S’Slam. Lita and Trish are able to do their thing in the ring and keep the crowd entertained early, letting the excitement build for Edge/Orton. Great exchange between the two and Orton pulling Trish in front of him was genius. Orton pins Edge! Cant believe Edge would get pinned before S’Slam! The aftermath made this show one of your best ever, Mac … and that’s really saying something. Orton forcing Edge to watch as he is about to punt Lita … and then stopping short … GENIUS! This feud has been epic for the last eight months and it will be the MOTN, imo. First one on one meeting and it will be in a hellacious setting. Bravo on this final segment … bravo.

Nothing can be said that hasn’t already been. Awesome Raw … look forward to Smackdown! … don’t keep me waiting for S’Slam. Up by mid-November, plz. Insert 10/10 here.

Heyman Deciple’s Raw Review

Shawn Vs. Sabu: This is a match that in their primes I would have loved to see. Good win and Shawn was awesome at the end being such a prick.

Carlito/MVP Interview: Nice interview here with good interaction between the 2.

TLC Video: Sweet video here to hype up the TLC match at Summer Slam. I particularly liked the amount of detail you went in to. Good stuff.

Torrie & Maria-Mickie & Beth: I loved this segment. First let me say though. I never got the whole T-shirt gun on TV deal. I just never liked it. But other than that this was pure gold and I guess it worked as it was a way to have both Maria and Torrie in the ring. The way you booked Mickie James throughout this segment was amazing. She went from super sweet to super bitch and her referring to Victoria as “Her” was good too. The Coach’s reaction to all this really put it over the top though. Man you almost have me missing the Coach. Almost.

Mickie & Beth Vs. Maria & Torrie: Okay women’s action with Mickie & Beth looking dominant as they should but the after match angle would have been absolutely must see. Between Mickie & Beth doing the deal with Torrie. To Beth knocking the referee on his ass. To Victoria coming out and kicking Beth Phoenix’s sweet ass. Yes I said sweet ass. To Maria attempting to take a stand against Mickie but Mickie just throwing her off. To Victoria getting in the ring and just planting one on Mickie. Everything was just awesome and yes Victoria does look like the baddest thing on two legs. Seriously.

Morrison/Doane Interview: Doane’s promo really caught my eye here. I can’t believe I’m actually going to say this but I hope Kenny wins at Summer Slam. There I said it.

Edge-Orton: I got to say the promo’s have really been on tonight and this was no different. Orton sounded really strong here.

Redneck Wrecking Crew Vs. AMW: Texas Death Match. Awesomeness. Good match I was rooting for AMW but whatever. Good win for the Wrecking Crew.

Haas-JBL: From The Brooklyn Brawler to the Rock. Ha. I like that. Good segment here and you have actually got me looking forward to a Charlie Haas-JBL match.

Angle/Umaga Interview: I’m really digging these combined interviews. As they're unique and they add to the tension of the Summer Games gauntlet at Summer Slam. Angle sounded good here but is was Estrada who stole the show. Ha Ha. I miss that. I got to go watch some old OVW Heyman era shows. Ha Ha.

RVD Vs. Jannetty: Poor old Marty. Nice win for RVD. The toughest 6 minutes of my life. That was the greatest line ever. And just to reiterate. Shawn the prick is awesome.

Edge & Lita Vs. Orton & Trish: Good main event. I liked how the ladies started things off and then later on here come the hot tags and it’s Edge and Orton time. The finish was great with all the counters and attempted finishing moves and then as Edge is about to deliver the spear, Orton pulls Trish into the way and she gets hit which makes Orton look like a total ass but also enables him to hit Edge with the RKO for the win. And if that wasn’t enough the after math got ever better with Edge tied up in the ropes by Masters and Mercury and Orton having Lita in the middle of the ring. This whole thing felt uncomfortable but awesome all at the same time. You could really feel the drama.

Awesome show, I give it a 10 out of 10. Summer Slam should be amazing.

By the way, if you want to give my TNA BTB a look that would be appreciated. Thanks.
