Re: WCW 2001- The Trio Ownership
WCW Wednesday Nitro Preview- December 12, 2001
World Championship Wrestling will host its next primetime edition of Wednesday Nitro on NBC this Wednesday night at 8 PM EST! WCW is just four days away from the biggest pay per view in wrestling, Starrcade, and tonight Nitro will be live from the Roanoke Civic Center, in Roanoke, Virginia! Join “The Voice of WCW” Tony Schiavone and “The Professor” Mike Tenay for another two-hour, action packed edition of World Championship Wrestling!
WCW Wednesday Nitro promises a huge double-main event so close to Starrcade. First, stemming from actions at last week’s contract signing, ‘The Living Legend’ Larry Zbyszko will team up with the man who will challenge for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship this Sunday, at Starrcade, Booker T, to take on the WCW President, Eric Bischoff, and Booker’s opponent for Starrcade and WCW World Heavyweight Champion, ‘The Chosen One’ Jeff Jarrett! At last week’s contract signing for their match at Starrcade, Jeff Jarrett and Booker T both traded jibes with one another, although Jarrett’s words were as personal as personal could be. A scuffle soon broke out, and in the end, Jeff Jarrett broke a guitar over Zbyszko’s head, and planted Booker through the desk used for the signing with his patented finisher, The Stroke. The second main event, will feature ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair taking on ‘Big Sexy’ Kevin Nash, with ‘Hollywood’ Hulk Hogan serving as the match’s referee! Statistically speaking, there is a two-thirds chance that this match will be thee last match on a Wednesday Nitro for one of the combatants in the match, as this Sunday, at Starrcade, Flair, Hogan, and Nash will wrestle in a triple threat match where the loser of the match must retire from World Championship Wrestling (or New World Order, in Hulk Hogan’s case), while the winner will get a guaranteed World Heavyweight Championship Title Match at any point of their choosing within the next calendar year. These two matches will be pivotal in determining who walks into Starrcade with the momentum, and thus an upper hand, going into the two biggest matches on the card. Be sure to tune into Wednesday Nitro to find out just who will be walking into Starrcade with the crucial momentum!
Last week on Wednesday Nitro, a ground-shaking match was added to the card for the Starrcade PPV, and that match was ‘Big Poppa Pump’ Scott Steiner vs. ‘The Man They Call’ Sting! After seemingly playing mind games with Steiner throughout the entire course of the night, Sting then appeared on the Nitro Tron during a Steiner promo in the ring, and eventually challenged Steiner to the match at Starrcade, much to the delight of The Big Bad Booty Daddy. Tonight on Nitro, Steiner will be inside the Roanoke Civic Center, and plans on addressing his “freaks” in the ring at some point on the show. Steiner is believed to be still very bitter about his night on Nitro last week, and will probably have a few choice words to say to the legendary Stinger. Tune into Nitro to find out just what Big Poppa Pump will have to say tonight!
Just over a week ago, it was announced that at Starrcade, the two former best friends, Rey Misterio Jr. and Billy Kidman, would wrestle one another, although the specifics of this match are still unknown. However, Billy Kidman will be in attendance for Wednesday Nitro, and has already been given time in the ring to address Rey Misterio Jr. and their match at Starrcade. It can be confirmed that there will be a stipulation to their match at Starrcade, but until Wednesday Nitro, that will be a mystery!
Also scheduled for Wednesday Nitro are two big tag team matches! One of those matches will feature two WCW loyalists, the undefeated ‘New Enforcer’ Cal Anderson and the WCW North American Champion, Lance Storm, taking on two members of the New World Order, ‘The Perfect One’ Curt Hennig and Storm’s opponent this Sunday at Starrcade, ‘The Career Killer’ Mike Awesome! Storm and Awesome will wrestle for Storm’s coveted North American Title at Starrcade, and it will be in a tables match! Cal Anderson and Curt Hennig have had problems with each other in the past, and also have been opponents of Awesome and Storm too. These four men know each other well, and you can expect a heck of a fight between these four men tonight on Nitro! In other tag team match, The Flying Harts, Jack Evans and Teddy Hart, will take on the two men who will wrestle for the WCW Cruiserweight Championship at Starrcade, ‘The Insane Luchadore’ Super Crazy and the Champion, ‘Sugar’ Shane Helms! This tag team match could very well be filled with poor teamwork between Crazy and Helms, and a possible betrayal between the ‘partners’, although the two men could very well work together and defeat the Harts. One can only find out by watching Nitro! As always, Wednesday Nitro promises to be an exciting showcase of professional wrestling that you do not want to miss! Be sure to tune into NBC this Wednesday night at 8 PM EST to catch all the action!
