It's awesome to see this come back. The longest, and most exciting WCW 2001 scenario I've ever read. What makes it even more so is the fact that it's realistic, you haven't gone and signed AJ Styles and pushed him to the moon, for example.

Mike Tenay actually didn't suck back at this time. He was marveled as one of the top play-by-play mans in the world, actually. Schiavone though, sucked big balls, and I like to shit on him.

Rey Misterio Jr. is a heel, has been since Souled Out in August, been feuding with Kidman (and in turn the Filthy Animals) ever since. Rey's added Chavo Guerrero as a partner within the past month, but to be honest, the angle's been a bit of a bust. I wrote a good match at Halloween Havoc between Rey and Kidman, but the feud itself has been lackluster. I tried something different, and learned Rey Misterio Jr. is not a good heel. .

Nitro is 2 hours, but I thought the length was pretty fine actually. I had over 35 minutes of wrestling, which is pretty good for WCW. And show ended up near 20 pages in Word, so I thought it was fine. You're just an enhancement talent, what do you know? j/k <3

Adams is actually injured. I wouldn't waste a fake injury angle on someone as low-level as Brian Adams

It was 20 pages? Wow. It must've been that I was just so engrossed in the show that the time just flew past.

I'm glad Adams is injured. Like Schiavone, he sucks balls. I don't remember much of Tenay when he was in WCW, I just remember, he annoyed me then too. Just not as much as Schiavone.

Yes, I do know that in-BTB time, this is before the Nitro already posted. I don't care though. . This is part 1 of a 2 part mini-series of segments.

Ric Flair called the house of Steve Borden from his cell phone, yet again. Flair has been calling Borden for the past day, repeatedly trying to convince him to come back to WCW, as an owner and wrestler. Yes, Flair and Borden were longtime best friends, everyone knew that. But that is a friendship that was rapidly deteriorated over the past few months; friendship is not why Flair calls for Borden to come back. Need and necessity is what makes Flair call Borden. Without Steve Borden, WCW loses 1/3 of its ever decreasing funds, thanks in part to loss of sponsorships because of the backstage turmoil that has leaked to the representatives of some of the sponsors. Borden’s money would be a huge asset to WCW, especially if the company continues to lose sponsors, or fails to get any new ones that could supply the company with the income they were getting. After several rings, Borden picks up his house phone.

Steve Borden: Hello?

Ric Flair: Steve, it’s Ric. How’s it going man? Have a good past two days?

Steve Borden: Ric, don’t waste my time with sugar coating anything. What do you want?

Ric Flair: C’mon, Steve, don’t be like that. I’m just looking to chat, man. Not everything has to be about business.

Steve Borden: I’m not a fool, Ric. You’re lying, and you know it. You don’t care about just ‘talking’ anymore. You’ve become cold, Ric. You’re not the person you were before you helped buy WCW, and you’re not the friend you used to be either. All it ever is, is business for you. I’ve seen who you’ve become, and that’s such a big reason why I’m out. Yeah, I couldn’t stand all that fighting between you and Bischoff and it drove me over the edge, but I remember the person you were, and then I see the person you are today… those two people are completely different, and I don’t want running this company to change me, not like it did to you.

There’s a long pause, as Flair is speechless from everything Borden just said.

Ric Flair: …Uh… I… you don’t know what you’re talking about, Steve. But, uh… look, this isn’t a conversation about me. It’s a conversation about you. I know Eric screwed up after Mayhem and started that big, not needed argument, and everybody wants you to stay in WCW. And, uh… besides… we kind of need you.

Steve Borden: Whose we, you and Jeff?

Ric Flair: You’re an-

Borden cuts Flair off.

Steve Borden: Well it’s obvious the “we” isn’t you and Eric. You don’t talk to Eric, and you’re too damn stubborn to come to any sort of peace agreement with him. Hell, you’re hatred for Eric blinds you so much, you can’t even admit you played a role in any of the hardships for WCW. Oh yes, Ric, I know you’ve told pretty much anyone who will listen that you’re deal with Jarrett helped the company, and you didn’t really do anything wrong, I know. And I know you’re still ‘buddy, buddy’ with that piece of slime too. But worst of all, you can’t admit that you’ve changed into this horrible person, a horrible friend, and the biggest reason as to why I walked out of WCW.

Ric Flair: Steve, I…

Steve Borden: Save it, Ric. You’ve wasted enough of my time already. I’m not going to continue to listen to you try and BS your way to bring me back. Yeah, I want to come back to WCW, I love WCW, but there’s no way in hell I’d come back for you. You’re one of the very last people that could bring me back, at least, now you are. Goodbye Richard Fliehr, or whoever you may be now.

As if Sting won't come back. My guess is, Flair and Bischoff sugarcoat their differences to get him back.

Pardon my lack of reviewage. Next show, imo.

Bittersweet phone segment. Nicely written ... but hopefully, Ric Flair sends Sting to hell for his sacrilege.

Ric Flair, he was a changing man, everyone who knew the man, could notice it. Power, greed, ignorance and stubbornness, all playing a role in corrupting the man. Steve Borden could not be persuaded to return to WCW, as a wrestler and an owner, by a man he called friend for a long time. But Eric Bischoff didn’t care about that. If Ric couldn’t do it, then that just means there’s an even better chance Bischoff can. Well, that and the fact that he realizes how much they need Borden (and his money). Because of that, it is Bischoff who calls Borden this evening, backstage at the University of Alabama for Wednesday Nitro, desperately hoping to lure Sting back.

Ring-a-ding-ding bitches.

Steve Borden: Hello?

Eric Bischoff: Hey Steve, it’s Eric. I’m in Alabama for Nitro right now, and I just wanted to, you know, give you a call. I won’t dick away your time; I know you want to spend time with your family, and I respect that, so I’ll be as quick as possible.

Steve Borden: Alright.

Eric Bischoff: Look Steve, I want you back. But not just me, everyone. We all miss you, Stinger. Steve, you’re the backbone of World Championship Wrestling. Without you here, we crumble. You’re an icon to the fans, but most of all, you’re a role model and an inspiration to the boys in the back. They idolize you, Steve. We all miss you, and to be honest, I think you miss WCW too.

Steve Borden: And you’re right, Eric. I do miss it, but that doesn’t mean I’ll come back. Sure, I love WCW; it’s my home. But all of the drama and the BS going on now a days, I don’t know if it’s worth it. And I see the man that Ric has become, Eric, the man he’s become ever since we bought WCW together, and I become afraid. I am afraid that the power that I help wield, will corrupt me, and make me like Ric. I don’t want that, Eric, not at all. I’m staying home with my family. Look, we’re about ready to sit down and have lunch, so I’m going to go.

Eric Bischoff: ….I’m sorry.

Steve Borden: What… I… uh, what did you say?

Really, Borden didn’t know what Bischoff said. It sounded like an apology, but cynical pricks like Eric Bischoff never apologized, for anything. Right?

Eric Bischoff: You know… I’m sorry. I apologize, for all the shit I put you through with my arguments with Flair. I hate the guy more than I’ve ever hated anyone, and it doesn’t change anything. I helped run you out just as much as Ric did, and I’m sorry. I may hate Ric, and I may be blind and stupid at times because of it, but I can admit when I’m wrong. You helped showed me that, in one way or another.

There’s a long silence between the two men before Borden says anything again.

Steve Borden: Wow, Eric. Thank you. Coming from you, Eric, I know that it means a lot. You did what I expected from Flair, but never got.

Borden takes a long pause, contemplating his next move,

Steve Borden: Alright…. I’ll do it. I’ll come back.

Eric Bischoff: Really!? I knew we could count on you, Stinger.

Bischoff is clearly ecstatic, while Borden still has some news to deliver.

Steve Borden: …as just a wrestler, and on my own terms.

And the joy and giddiness leaves Bischoff like a baby through a birth canal.

Eric Bischoff: Wha…. What?

Steve Borden: As just a wrestler. I told you, Eric, I don’t want myself to change from who I am today, all because of this company. I don’t want WCW to run my life; I want to be in control of my life. I am right now, but if I stay with WCW, and run it like I have been, maybe I’ll end up like Ric has. Maybe I’ll end off even worse.

Eric Bischoff: Maybe you won’t even change at all. Hell, maybe you’ll be an even better person.

Steve Borden: Eric, that’s a risk I’m not willing to take.

Eric Bischoff: But Steve, you more than anybody knows the predicament we’re in here. If the financial situation with the sponsors continues, we’re dead meat. This company needs you, Steve, and more than just as a wrestler.

Steve Borden: Eric, this company can survive without me. The sponsors, they can be replaced. The rest of the business decision, you can do easily. As long as you and Ric can work together, WCW will be fine without me. Money will be tight, yes, but if you guys work hard, I have faith in you.

There’s another pause between the two.

Eric Bischoff: You mentioned you’d only come back on your terms. So, uh, what are they?

Steve Borden: My terms are…

Dun-dun-dun~!

WCW Wednesday Nitro Preview- November 28, 2001

World Championship Wrestling will host its next primetime edition of Wednesday Nitro on NBC this Wednesday night at 8 PM EST from the University of Alabama, at the Coleman Coliseum, in Tuscaloosa, Alabama! Join “The Voice of WCW” Tony Schiavone and “The Professor” Mike Tenay for another two-hour, action packed edition of World Championship Wrestling!

Wednesday Nitro has a big main event signed for the show, and it will be ‘Big Sexy’ Kevin Nash going one-on-one with ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair! The match has been booked by the WCW President himself, Eric Bischoff, and one can be sure that ‘Hollywood’ Hulk Hogan had a doing in this match being booked! Both Flair and Nash have long, well-profiled problems with Hogan, and those problems are flaring up again. Flair and Hogan have been having problems with one another ever since Ric Flair brought Hogan back to WCW! Flair brought Hogan back into WCW to help WCW against the nWo in the War Games, but Hogan turned on Flair and WCW in the War Games match, creating in instant revival of the hatred between the two. Nash has wanted a piece of Hogan ever since Hogan cost Nash the WCW World Heavyweight Title in a match on Nitro 3 weeks ago. Both feuds have escalated from there, and now, Hogan’s two biggest enemies will go at it in the ring! However, Flair and Nash have had their fair share of problems in the past, and after all, it was Kevin Nash who played the biggest role in Ric Flair not capturing the WCW World Heavyweight Title at Halloween Havoc. It’s a tale of hatred, betrayal, and longtime rivalries, but only one man can walk away from Wednesday Nitro a winner!

Next week on Wednesday Nitro, there will be an official contract signing between Booker T and Jeff Jarrett for the WCW World Heavyweight Championship match in the main event of Starrcade, but before the two men can get to Starrcade, Booker T will be in attendance tonight at Nitro, and has been given time by the board of directors, not Bischoff, to address WCW, the fans, and Jeff Jarrett. Booker T must have a lot to say, and even more going through his mind after going through a wild past 10 days that involved him winning the hellacious Super Cage at Mayhem, and putting Jeff Jarrett through a table with a Book End to cap off last week’s Nitro! There is a time to fight, and a time to talk; Booker T has the time to talk tonight, but he’ll always be ready for a fight!

Also tonight on Nitro, the Natural Born Thrillers, Johnny Stamboli and Mark Jindrak, will team up for the first time tonight when they take on Billy Kidman and Konnan, the Filthy Animals! Mike Sanders and the NBT will certainly be looking to send a strong message to the WCW Tag Team Champions, Chuck Palumbo & Sean O’Haire, the Young Lions, while Billy Kidman may have to look over his shoulder for Rey Misterio Jr.! Kidman cost Rey the North American Championship last week on Nitro in a ladder match with Lance Storm, and Misterio is none too pleased about that! This is a match of major Starrcade implications, so be sure to tune into Nitro to see this dandy!

Furthermore, there will be yet another battle between WCW and the nWo as ‘The New Enforcer’ Cal Anderson puts his undefeated streak on the line against ‘The Career Killer’ Mike Awesome! Anderson has never been pinned and has never submitted in a match, but Awesome is starting to gather some steam heading into his tables match with Lance Storm for the WCW North American Title at Starrcade!

‘Big Poppa Pump’ Scott Steiner makes his return to WCW tonight, fully recovered from the injuries he sustained in the Super Cage at Mayhem. Steiner was power bombed off the very top of the Super Cage, fell through the roof of the second cage, and crashed into the second cage through a wooden table, leaving him with a severe concussion. Steiner also received several other injuries throughout the match. Tonight, Steiner will take on Bryan Clarke of the New World Order. Clarke is without his tag team partner, Brian Adams, who suffered a ripped bicep muscle last week on Nitro. Will Clarke be able to stand out on his own, or will Big Poppa Pump return to WCW in top form? Find out on Nitro!

Also tonight on Nitro, ‘The Insane Luchadore’ Super Crazy makes his return to the ring following a concussion sustained at Mayhem, at the hands of the WCW Cruiserweight Champion, ‘Sugar’ Shane Helms. Super Crazy will be taking on one of Helms’ former partners, Shannon Moore! As always, Nitro promises to be an exciting showcase of professional wrestling that you do not want to miss! Be sure to tune into NBC this Wednesday night at 8 PM EST to catch all the action!

Confirmed Matches:
Bryan Clarke vs. Scott Steiner (w/Midajah)
Cal Anderson (w/Arn Anderson) vs. Mike Awesome
Filthy Animals (w/Tygress) vs. Natural Born Thrillers (w/Mike Sanders)
Kevin Nash vs. Ric Flair
Shannon Moore vs. Super Crazy

Flair being scum is awesome...because Flair can do whatever the hell he wants! WHOOOOOO! Nothing looks good match-wise for Nitro aside from Nash/Flair, but I'm more interested in the promos anyway of course. I haven't followed much recently, but I know the thread well enough to keep up.
