I can't say I am surprised, I have known about this since last week sometime. However, it is always awesome to see one of, if not the best WCW thread come back. I don't think many will complain with that label at all. I have a hard weekends work, but I will drop some comments next week. That, or I will just ester you on MSN and give you them there.

Take care.

I am so happy that this is back. And Mayhem looks insane, and I seriously cannot wait to see what happens backstage after Mayhem.

It is nice to see my favorite WCW thread back.

I am looking forward to review some Nitro's!

Answers:
7. Super Cage- Won by Booker T
6. Ric Flair def. Eric Bischoff & Hulk Hogan
5. Jeff Jarrett def. Kevin Nash
4. Lance Storm & Young Lions def. New World Order
3. Filthy Animals def. Chavo Guerrero & Rey Misterio
2. Johnny Stamboli def. Big Vito
1. Shane Helms def. Super Crazy and Teddy Hart

Worst Match- Jeff Jarrett vs. Kevin Nash- *
Best Match- Super Cage- ****
Yes, someone turned heel, and Shane Helms is the one to do so
Brian Adams takes the fall in the 6-man match
Billy Kidman gets the fall in his tag team match
Super Crazy is the last man eliminated in the Cruiserweight Title match

Now normally, the tie breaker for such a tie would be whoever had the highest show questions, then match predictions, and finally match orders being the last tiebreaker. So Spartanlax or thephenom01 should have beat out Kane01 and Thunderman, with Sparty then beating out thaphenom beause of match predictions. However, since both Spart and thephenom, to my knowledge, are no longer active at WF/BTB, I moved on down the list of 13s, so kane01 is the winner of the predictions contest. I'll PM him shortly so he can make a match for Nitro. And now, I'll post an updated roster ('welcome Paranoir ), to refresh everyone's memory. After that, it will be everyone's favorite, a backstage segment.

The roster and everything else looks good. I'm a reader

Default Re: WCW 2001- The Trio Ownership

The mood backstage in World Championship Wrestling has been tense, to say the least. Ever since Fall Brawl, the members of “The Trio” have been at each others throats, although mainly just Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair. Ric Flair “pulled a Bischoff” in that at the start of the WCW revival in March and April, Ric Flair made a secret agreement with Jeff Jarrett to persuade him to return to the company. Ric promised Jarrett a guaranteed WCW World Heavyweight Title reign, and Flair (thought he) secured the secret clause in a hidden slit of his briefcase. However, Flair’s paranoia of being caught and his urge to get the Belt on Jarrett and get the deal over with caught up to him; Bischoff and Steve ‘Sting’ Borden were able to figure out something was going on between Ric and Jeff, and after setting up a trap for Ric, and Eric finding the hidden clause/agreement, led to the discovery of the plot. It was Bischoff who discovered the evidence, but Borden had already known; after discovering for himself what happened, he confronted Flair, and Ric confessed. Eric confronted both after the show, and proceeded to think Borden was in on it, although the two have since clarified that was not the case. Nevertheless, a fight erupted backstage between Bischoff and Flair after Bischoff shouted to the whole entire roster what had happened. The politics of old had resurfaced in WCW, but it was with the loyal, “company man” in Ric Flair, not the slimy, scheming weasel of Eric Bischoff…

…and WCW has never been the same since. Morale has taken a hit with some superstars, with Booker T taking the biggest hit, obviously. Booker felt cheated by Jarrett and Flair, and rightfully so. But morale can be fixed, the biggest problem… not so much. Major advertisers, such as Michelin and Acclaim, dropped their deals with WCW, taking away a large source of revenue for the company. Acclaim and WCW had reached a preliminary agreement for a new video game for the company, but now WCW lost the money they’d make on the video game, and the money they received from Acclaim as a sponsor. However, just before Mayhem went live, Bischoff got a call from another sponsor, 1-800-Collect, and a representative declared that the company was cutting its deal with the company, effective the end of the month. Another huge blow for WCW, as the company will now lose another important revenue source. At this rate, WCW will start to turn a deficit, instead of a profit. If sponsors continue to drop, the company will lose a very large amount of money, creating a loss in money that the company wouldn’t be able to recover from.

And why are these sponsors dropping out? Fall Brawl. Representatives of the respective companies know of the turmoil backstage, and how the owners can’t even get along enough to work as a cohesive unit. WCW has still gotten by, but only because of Steve Borden, an educated person would tell you. Borden is the peace keeper of two hated rivals. Bischoff and Flair had seemingly patched all of their differences up, but “Fall Brawl-gate” has reestablished the hatred between the two. But up until now, Steve Borden has kept The Trio together. Until now.

Bar, The Marriot Inn
1:16 AM

The Trio Ownership, the collective WCW owners of Eric Bischoff, Ric Flair, and Steve Borden, are sitting at a table at the Marriot Inn, recuperating from a long night in which all three men wrestled. As they sit at the table, Flair and Bischoff sit opposite one another, while Borden’s position forms the tip of a triangle. Both Borden and Flair have heavy bandages over their foreheads, thanks in part to a night of heavy blading. Bischoff and Flair both are drinking some heavy liquor, while Borden settles for a simple Coca-Cola. All three are stressed. They’ve sat in silence for the ten or so minutes they’ve been here, none of the three wanting to talk about what they know needs to be. However, it’s be pointless to write this if they stayed in silence, so eventually, Steve Borden is the man who grows a set.

Steve Borden: Guys, we can’t just sit here in silence for ever.

Bischoff bites on his bottom lip, knowing the conversation needs to be said, while Flair simply rolls his eyes, grabs some pretzels in the bowl on the table, munching away. Neither of the other two seem to be in any hurry to have this conversation. Borden’s temper seems to be flaring, but he avoids lashing out. Instead, he closes his eyes and take a quiet, deep breath. Borden then continues on to speak.

Steve Borden: Another sponsor is dropping us guys, our third sponsor within the past month and a half. We can’t afford to let this keep happening. We don’t have a lot of money as it is, not with just the three of us putting money into the company. We have money, but we don’t have Ted’s billions. Sponsorships are our biggest source of revenue, so if we keep losing more sponsors, this company’s a fish out of water. We need to pick it up, and find a way to get new sponsors. The old sponsors won’t be coming back, not after the rumors they’ve heard, and the spin their representatives have added. So, uh, you guys have any input?

Ric Flair: Ask Eric, Steve. He’s the man with the business experience. He knows all about sponsorships… keeping them, pissing them off, losing them…

Eric Bischoff: Yeah, I know all about fucking a star over, causing backstage turmoil, and being the direct cause of sponsors to pull out of the company, and thus create the company’s first upcoming deficit since the three of us bought the company. Yeah, Ric, that’s all me.

Borden dramatically slaps his palms on the wooden table, and starts to tap his foot off the floor repeatedly. Borden’s getting pissed with the constant bickering between Bischoff and Flair. Ric pauses before responding to Eric’s jab, taking a quick handful of pretzels.

Ric Flair: Oh, fuck you, Bischoff. I did what was best for the company, and Jeff’s done nothing but bring the company stable ratings, and success. He’s been a great Champion, and you know it. He’s been the best part of the nWo for the past two months… jealous, are we, Eric?

Borden starts to bite his lip and tap his fingers off the table now, his irritation starting to get the best of him.

Eric Bischoff: Ha! I never knew playing the key role in creating a financial loss for a wrestling company was the best decision for said company. Here I thought that was a pretty fucking stupid decision for the company. What about you, Steve? You think it’s a pretty fucking stupid decision, eh?

Ric Flair: Fuck off, Eric. Steve understands what I was trying to do. Stop trying to but all the guilt on me, Eric. Steve knows you’re full of shit. Hell, you’re the real reason why the sponsors are dropping out of the company. You keep causing all this shit! Tell ‘em, Steve!

Both Eric and Ric look at Steve, expecting him to take each other’s side. Borden closes his eyes, contemplating what he’s about to say. As Flair grabs a few more pretzels, Borden downs the rest of his drink before roughly slamming it onto the table. Finally, Borden kicks at the pole underneath the table, causing the table to rattle. Bischoff and Flair both look confused.

Steve Borden: Fuck it! Flair, you know what’s a horrible decision? Going behind the backs of your two co-owners, especially when one of them is supposed to be your best friend; now that is a horrible decision. But what makes it even worse, is when you make secret guarantees to a certain wrestler, inflate his ego, piss off other boys in the back, and proceed to create a whole bunch of drama that has been the catalyst for sponsors dropping out of their deals and thus causing a mass loss of money! That’s a horrible decision!

Ric looks like he just got slapped across the face, while Eric cockily smirks. Borden, his eyes flaring, turns his attention to Bischoff. Flair regains his composure, and grabs a few pretzels, again.

Steve Borden: But hey, Eric? You know what else is a bad move? Punching one of your co-owners in front of the entire roster, causing pandemonium throughout the backstage! But of course, you do this only after you yell and shout about the entire ordeal between Flair and Jeff, letting everyone know how fucked up this company was! But yet, Eric, you find a way to screw things up even more by continuing to start bullshit arguments with Ric each and every time we try and sit and talk, or only furthering an argument. But Ric does the same thing, so you’re both a bunch of immature asses!

Borden stops to take a pause, while Ric hesitantly goes to grab another pretzel from the bowl. Borden beats Ric to the bowl, slapping it off the table, sending pretzels scattering everywhere.

Steve Borden: Damn it, Ric! Stop eating the fucking pretzels and pay attention! Go…

Borden almost utters his Lord’s name in vein, but stops himself. Oh those born again Christians. However, Borden still is pissed.

Steve Borden: You know what? I can’t take this shit anymore! I’ve been the fucking peacemaker in this group ever since we bought the damn company! I could handle it then, but not anymore! I’ve sat by and played babysitter and peacekeeper and kept both of your egos in check while you took shot after shot at one another, and I just can’t take it anymore! I am a professional, and I care about this company! I want to see WCW succeed, but you guys obviously don’t give two shits, and I’m sick of working with two guys that won’t even make an attempt to fix their problems! In fact, I refuse to work with two children who can’t get their heads out of their asses long enough to make this company work peacefully and successfully! I love this company and I want to be a part of it, but I won’t help run this company! Not anymore! I’m not going to do everything while you two bicker 24/7; this just isn’t worth it anymore! I quit. I’m taking my third of the remaining money, and I refuse to work for this company anymore. I don’t care how long I’ve been with WCW, I don’t care what I’ve done in this company, and I don’t care what I could do in this company, I’m not putting up with this shit anymore! You run WCW by yourselves! Book whoever and whatever you want, but don’t bother booking me. I truly mean I quit, damn it. I’m done with this company, in every way, shape, and form… you two have just made this not worthy it anymore. Working with you two, nothing is worth anything.

And with that said, Borden rises to his feet, and marches away from the bar, and over to the elevator. Bischoff and Flair look at each other, shocked and stunned speechless, over what just happened. The two uncomfortably stare at each other for several seconds, until Bischoff shrugs his shoulders, and leaves the table. Flair looks around the bar, and notices the barkeeper and the few remaining occupants glaring at him. Ric sheepishly smiles, only to get off his seat to pick up a few of the pretzels and put them back in the bowl. Once several handfuls are back in the bowl, Flair sits back at the table, shrugs his shoulders, and starts to take another handful before munching away…

What a segment right there man! So, what is going to happen next, in this great storyline between the three. I must admit, that this is very realistic in the sense that you mention that WCW's main source of revenue is in the sponsors. Also, the buildup to Sting quitting was perfectly done. Well written segment once more, and I wonder what is going to happen next in this thread.

Great segment, this certainly makes things very interesting now. Your narration, especially at the start, came off as really awkward to me, but of course the content itself was terrific. You can write perfectly realistic dialogue and this was no exception. I have a feeling that Sting will come back into this thread someway or another, I don't see him just disappearing like that. Looking forward to the next segment or show, Szumi; this is definitely the hottest thread in the section right now.

WOW!

This is excellent. I never knew you could be this good SZUM. I mean bot only do you have shows, you also have these little segments which broaden the story up alot. It kind of reminds me of the TNA BTB by AMP. That was one of my favourite threads so Im guessing this will be too

Good job with the Roster update Szumi. .

I'll try and get some comments up on the PPV mate, but no promises. On a side note, the backstage meeting between Flair, Sting and Eric was huge. It definitely gets me asking "What next?". Great segment bud, you captured the passion of Sting in particular very nicely. This is a concept I've been thinking of bring into my btb lately, so damn you for coming back and doing thus making it look like I stole it from you

P.S. AJ Styles feud with Rey Misterio Jr, plz
