Some more additional comments, I personally think that the title match is very strange for 2001. WCW should be trying to escape basing the main event round the old guys. I'd love to see the pushed heel Misterio J.r make it to the main event.

Also, I hope that we never see Ric Flair/Hogan again after tonight lol, just because it has happened to many times and is another old boys match.

Lance Storm's push will demand he goes over in the tag match I think, but I smell that he will join the nWo, but I don't think he would fit in.

Your last Nitro before the PPV was awesome, and I know this PPV will rock. Can't wait to review it, good luck man.

Default Re: WCW 2001- The Trio Ownership

Cyborn, the reason that the World Title match is Jeff Jarrett vs. Kevin Nash, more or less, is to shit on Jeff Jarrett's Title reign. He and Flair fucked over The Trio, and all of WCW, to get the Belt on Jarrett, and now, he's being made to look weak in the majority of his feuds. And also, this is my way of trying to show that yes, this is still WCW. The veterans will be there, but they're not going to simply dominate WCW. They'll get their crack at the main events, but if they can't hack it, then that's that.

Looks like I will be recapping the other two matches, so the PPV will be up this week most likely. The rest of it is in great quality me thinks, and hopefully will more than make-up for the two matches being recapped.

Winner Gets Guaranteed World Heavyweight Title Shot At Starrcade
The Super Cage
Booker T vs. Scott Hall vs. Scott Steiner vs. Sting 7

It's an understatement to say that you've been fairly underutilising STing in your thread. IMO this can lead to a great program, 1997 all over again, a NWO heel champ gets beaten cleanly by Stinger at sTarrcade, and then you can play out a jealousy storyline between Booker T and Sting for the title. Never seen before feud and it'll be worth a read.

WCW World Heavyweight Championship
Singles Match
Jeff Jarrett © vs. Kevin Nash 5

I don't take Nash as a serious threat and I hope to God I'm right.

WCW North American & Tag Team Championships
Six-Man Tag Team Match
Lance Storm © & The Young Lions © vs. Mike Awesome & KroniK 4

Storm needs a win to further cement his face run. Would be a nice victory for the young lions too

WCW Cruiserweight Championship
Three-Way Elimination Match
Shane Helms © vs. Super Crazy vs. Teddy Hart (w/Jack Evans) 1

this will be the match where you pull the trigger on Helms' heel turn. Perfect time to do it. I see Helms getting rolled up or something by Hart because he was getting distracted by Crazy and then Crazy goes over Hart which leads to Helms attackng and beating down Crazy. If you haven't booked it, book it again, now.

If Ric Flair Loses, He’s Fired
2-on-1 Handicap Match
Eric Bischoff & Hulk Hogan vs. Ric Flair (w/Arn Anderson & Cal Anderson) 6

OH boy, difficult to predict. I can't see you firing Flair unless you plan on giving him a few months off, play a storyline where a new gm is placed and Flair can return. In these kind of matches, 9/10 the guy who risks getting fired doesn't lose. You got respect from me if you let Flair lose here, will get me captivated for sure.

Grudge Match
Tag Team Match
Filthy Animals (w/Tygress) vs. Rey Misterio Jr. & Chavo Guerrero Jr. 2

A cruiserweight feud who is pretty well developed I must say, despite the awfull promo skills from all men involved (maybe bar konnan). As for the winner, it's a tossup. Either Chavo and REy get put over cleanly to make them a serieus unit or you can turn konnan on Kidman to bury TFA once and for all + you can have an all mexican lucha stable.

Grudge Match
Italian Street Fight
Big Vito vs. Johnny Stamboli 3

Don't care to much about this match really. Two close to being jobbers put in a loser leaves town match. Who cares. Stamboli wins though seeing you obviously have plans for him.

Show Questions:

What will be the worst match – rated due to overall match rating in *’s? Bischoff & Hogan vs Flair is gonna stink it up
What will be the best match – rated due to overall match rating in *’s? Super Cage
Will Halloween Havoc see anyone(s) turn from face/heel to heel/face? Yes
If Yes – Who is/are going to turn? Shane Helms
Who will be pinned in the 6-Man Titles match? Bryan Clarke
Who will score the pin in the 2-on-2 Tag match? Mysterio
Who will be the last man eliminated in the Cruiserweight Title match? Teddy Hart

'Allo poppets. Here is a thing of internet reports to choke on while I start to conclude Mayhem. Since I will be recapping the three matches I have not wrote, all I need to do is work on the promos and commentary, and Mayhem shall be finished. The recaps for those matches will still hopefully be rather lengthy, but not a full write-up as usual. Some may call the below reports a lot of fluff, some may look way too far into these. But they're here, take them for what they are.

~Many are currently expecting The Super Cage match at Mayhem this Sunday to get a large amount of time, and “The Trio” are having very high expectations for what the four men can do in the match. Whether or not Booker T, Scott Hall, Scott Steiner, and Sting, can make the Super Cage live up to those expectations remains to be seen, but clearly, The Super Cage match is the selling point for this Mayhem PPV. Fall Brawl, September’s PPV, relied heavily on the War Games PPV, and it had a very acceptable buy-rate for WCW standards, beating the other buy-rates from the 2001 WCW PPV’s. WCW has to be hoping for that to happen again with Mayhem and the Super Cage, this Sunday.

~A match, however, that many are not looking that forward to, is the Italian Street Fight between Big Vito and Johnny Stamboli. The former team called The Mamalukes were on a losing streak for months, and this match at Mayhem is going to abruptly end their feud. The contract between Big Vito and WCW expires at the end of this month, and it is expected that Vito will not be coming back to WCW, as the company has no further usage for him.

~Curt Hennig, who has been off-screen for the past couple of weeks, is set to return at the Mayhem PPV in some capacity. Hennig was first dropped on his head and suffered a concussion in his triple threat match at Halloween Havoc, and then broke his nose at a house show the next night. Hennig has been taken off the road for these past few weeks to recover, but he is expected to make his return, as the nWo member that he’s been, this Sunday at Mayhem.

~Curt Hennig is not the only man who is rumored to be returning to WCW at the show, however. To follow up on the possible Natural Born Thriller angle with Johnny Stamboli, former NBT members Mike Sanders and Mark Jindrak are both scheduled to be at Mayhem. Also, the former valet of Shawn Stasiak, ironically another former NBT member, and also the former Miss Hancock, Stacy Keibler, is expected to be returning to WCW at Mayhem. The blonde beauty has been off-screen ever since the original WCW re-launch in March. Keibler has been doing photo shoots for WCW, as well as appearing in a few acting roles as well. Her future role in WCW, however, is unknown at this time.

~After the Fall Brawl PPV, it was heavily reported throughout the IWC that a scuffle broke out backstage between two of the WCW Owners, Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair. While details are still sketchy on the full reasoning as to why the fight did break out, it was originally rumored to be about Jeff Jarrett becoming the WCW World Heavyweight Champion at Fall Brawl, which rumor had it, Eric Bischoff was heavily against. Now, as rumors continue to circulate as what had happened, it is continuing to be reported that their scuffle broke out over Jeff Jarrett becoming World Champion, but also because of some sort of secret alliance between Jarrett, and surprisingly, Ric Flair, to insure Jarrett became the WCW Champion. Again, these are just rumors and speculation as to why a fight broke out after Fall Brawl between Ric Flair and Eric Bischoff, but there is more support to prove why this could be.

~Ever since Fall Brawl, the on-screen (and off-screen) rivalry between Eric Bischoff and Ric Flair has been turned up a notch, to the point where this Sunday at Mayhem, Ric Flair will take on Eric Bischoff and Hulk Hogan, with the stipulation that if Flair loses, he will be fired! Some rumors making the round is that Flair actually will lose the match at Mayhem this Sunday, in an effort to isolate Flair from the WCW company. However, this is just a rumor, albeit heavily reported rumor. The problem with this though, is that if Flair were to be ran out of WCW, on-screen and off, it would take away one-third of WCW’s funds. If that were to happen, WCW would have an incredibly hard time staying in business, as funds aren’t large for WCW as is, especially with several sponsors dropping out of the company in the past two months.

~With the rumors going around about Jeff Jarrett having some sort of hidden alliance with Ric Flair to become the World Heavyweight Champion, a large amount of rumors have been circulating that the current WCW World Heavyweight Champion is hated, and the word by some, loathed, by numerous of the men and women apart of WCW. Whether these two rumors are correlated or not remains to be seen, but at this point, it is highly likely that they are, and Jeff Jarrett is a hated man on campus, and probably because of an alliance with Ric Flair to secure him a guaranteed reign as WCW World Heavyweight Champion.

~While Jeff Jarrett has been the man hated, the former WCW World Heavyweight Champion, Booker T, has rumored to have been at an all-time low in terms of morale. This is a big rumor to be made, as Booker T is a man who has gone through ups, and many downs, with WCW, to a point where he was on the verge of leaving the company before. Again, the reasoning for Booker’s low morale has been rumored to have something to do with this heavily rumored fiasco with Jeff Jarrett, Ric Flair, and Eric Bischoff, but at this point, is still one big rumor, with no concrete evidence to support it. However, depending on the result of the Super Cage match at Mayhem this Sunday, we could possibly be witnessing the beginning of the end of Booker T’s career in WCW.

~As we reported earlier, within the past two months, sponsors Acclaim and Michelin have dropped out of terms with World Championship Wrestling. Both companies were donating rather large sums of money to WCW, and Acclaim also was in the process of signing a video gaming deal between the two. Whether the sudden loss of these sponsors is somehow related to the backstage turmoil rumored to be going around WCW is related or not is unknown, but if WCW continues to lose sponsors, the company will start to dramatically lose money as the sponsors are a rather large percentage of the company’s funds. This situation will be followed closely over the following weeks, in case anything else is reported or discovered.
That should possibly be it until Mayhem. Again, keep the prediction contests coming if you wish. Show will be up probably Thursday or Friday.

Default Re: WCW 2001- The Trio Ownership

Sorry about the lateness and shitty review, but you know I been busy as of late. I'll make it up to ya.

8 man tag match is a fantastic opening match, and would be quite enteraining, although maybe a bit too overcrowded. However, it serves its purpose of hyping up a couple of PPV matches in one segment, which makes life easier. I like the teaming of Rey and Chavo, hope it goes somewhere. I'm also liking the Shane Helms cocky, heelish turn and I think the 3 way dance will be a good matchup, with Shane beginning to solidify his title run.

Whoa, first time in history that you have had a bad Bisch or Flair segment. NOT! This segment was exceptional, and to my surprise I am interested in this fued. I like how you still have guys like Flair and Hogan still around and still fueding, but stepping down a spot on the card. It balances things out well.

Yes, more Rey and Chavo! Looks like you finally found a way to use the two, and that is as a tag team. If you decide to continue this route, they could be a great choice as tag team champions. They didn't do half bad in this promo either.

Ok, Lance Storm is looking better and better each week, but I am growing tired of seeing him get such a push in every WCW thread I have seen. I know Storm may be the future, but just don't push him too hard. The brawl afterwards was great, and I'm liking the several stages, if you will, of the WCW/NWO fued.

Ok, so the weapon choices were obvious as you pointed out, but I'm glad you added this segment as it was a good one. I like to see Scott Hall stand tall at the end of the segment, it was a certain surprise, but of course, he won't win at the PPV.

Yes! More Rey and Chavo! I like this fued with the 'FAZ', and I'm curious if Rey and Chavo will go over.

Good to see the champ on the show, and a match with Hugh was a good enough choice. Surprise at the end with Big Sexy coming down to the ring and finally we have a WCW title match signed at the PPV. Good addition to the card.

Good main event as well, to cap off a long ass show lol. Of course there was no winner in this match, it just couldn't happen. So, the standoff with the weapons was a cool ending to the show, and a smart one.

Great show Szumi, glad to see you are back. Sorry for the lacking review, but I just got off work homes. 9/10, Mayhem is going to be off the charts.
