Default Re: WCW 2001- The Trio Ownership

Title Hype And Shots-Great promo here with Ric Flair cutting a great one man promo, nice build up to Halloween Havoc and tonight's 6-man tag team match is defiantly going to be interesting.

Flying Harts vs. Shane Helms and Super Crazy (w/Sugar Babies)-A good debut match for the Flying Harts over who I think they will face at Halloween Havoc.

A Feud To Let The Matches Do The Talking-Nice short promo by Rey Misterio Jr. building up his feud with Kidman before he gets chased off by Billy Kidman.

Big Poppa Pump In The House!-Another great signle man promo, this time with "Big Poppa Pump" Scotty Steiner. I love that he is staying a loner as I think it is the perfect spot for him. My guess is that at the next PPV we get Steiner vs. Flair.

The Return-Wonder what’s returning? Hah, this is WCW, so don’t get your hopes to high folks. LOL!!! Super Cage? My gues is a Triple Cage, though I barely even know much about that. Looking forward to it as it seems exciting.

The Stinger Issues An Open Challenge-The Stinger hypes up an open challenge, my guess is Vampiro, only due to the history they had in the past.

Sucka, Let’s Hype Our Match… Brother!-Great promo by Hogan and Booker T geting some final minute build up in for this feud.

Big Vito (w/Johnny The Bull) vs. Hugh Morris-It finally happens! Now let's see these two wrestle at a PPV soon, I want this match so badly and would mark out if it happened. I beg that we get this at Halloween Haboc or Mayhem.

Simply The Best-Nice promo with Storm saying he doesn't care what he has to do to prove he is the best.

Jeff Jarrett, Curt Hennig, & Lance Storm (w/Eric Bischoff) vs. Ric Flair, Sting, & Cal Anderson (w/Arn Anderson)-Great match, nice spot having Lance Storm take down both of his opponets for the triple threat for Halloween Havoc. Nice finish having Flair steal Jarrett's finisher for the victory.

Overall: 8/10 for another great episode of Nitro, something took away from the show, but I think it is probably just the headache I got from the smell of alchol and smoke that I had to endure so I could watch my football team kick ass. Looking forward to Halloween Havoc.

Thanks again for the reviews guys. Halloween Havoc is the next show, which will take a while to do because well, it is a PPV, and they take a while to begin with, and even more when I don't have a lot of free time.

So yeah, I'll try and work on it dilligently, and possibly have it up in around 2 weeks time. It all depends on how I am feeling (currently battling an illness), my motivation to write, and the free time I get to write.

I'll put up a preview and oredictions contest at some point too, so my loves can have their contest. And as always, there is a reward. This year, it is to see the participants in the upcoming Super Cage (which is the Triple Cage used from Ready to Rumble/Slamboree 2000, but I may make some changes), or again, book any match for the following Nitro.

Sounds good Szumi. I'll review Havoc to make up for my sad drunk attempt at a Nitro review.

BTW, Why can't I say V@nill@ Midgetz here without it getting turned into godly wreslters?

Default Re: WCW 2001- The Trio Ownership

Well i've never read this thread before, so you dont owe me a review... until now .

Title shots and hype: I thought this was a great way to start off the show. For the most part Flair was portrayed brilliantly, and it explained the main current storyline for me . The one thing i didn't like though was how much Flair was praising Steiner.

Flying Harts vs Helms and Crazy: Fast paced matches are a good way to start off a show, so this was a good choice for the first match IMO. Big win for the Flying Harts, but i felt the low blow was a bit overused.

A feud to let the matches do the talking: Intresting that you have Mysterio as a heel. The promo did its job of hyping up their ppv match, though it wasn't really anything special.

Big poppa pump in da house: LOL, i loved how Steiner insulted Flair so much, after Flair praised him earlier. Pretty good promo in general, and i'm intrested in seeing how this storyline progresses.

NWO vs Palumbo, O Haire and Steiner: Nothing special about this match, but i thought it was a good move to have Steiner dominate the NWO. It adds to Flair's comments earlier about him. (Saying that Steiner was the man who could save WCW).

The Return: The super cage match should be very intresting, good move and way to start hyping it.

The Stinger issues an open challenge: Fro what i've seen of Sting, this promo was very in character. I cant wait to see who accepts his challenge. As it's being made by a big star on a ppv, you know someone shocking is going to accept it .

Sucka, lets hype up our match brother: This was my favourite part of the show. I loved how Booker actually told Hogan what he was going to do, ad then mixed their catchphrases at the end. It could have ended with a bit more of a bang though (such as a brawl, but Mysterio and Kidman did that earlier, and i can understand if you didn't want to overuse it). LOL major overkill of the word "pay per view" by the commentators afterwards.

Hugh Morris vs Big Vito: I guess the marmalukes have broken up, i wonder if they'll have a match at Halloween Havoc? Not the greatest of storylines, but it's better then making Vito wear a dress :P.

Simple the best: Intresting that you put this promo this late in the show. Normally you'd expect one of the big stars to have one here, which suggests to me you want to push Storm even more. The promo itself was good, very in character once again.

Main Event: Wasn't really anything special, but it did its job of hyping up the PPV. Flair using Jarret's finisher against him was a good twist, and i expect he'll attempt it again at HH.

Overall i thought this was a very good show, i love how realistic your promos are, and it hyped up the PPV brilliantly.

Default Re: WCW 2001- The Trio Ownership

I just couldn't bare not to read this thread seeing as it has returned, so I decided to review Nitro.

WCW Rules' Review of Szumi's Monday Night Nitro

Title Hype and Shots: A lengthy and excellent promo from the Nature Boy to start off the show. Woooo, some major announcements concerning the WCW World Championship, involving Flair and Jarrett, as well as Scott Steiner! The Main Event scene is definitely heating up, and what a brilliant way to do so. Kudos to a wonderful start to Nitro.

Flying Harts Vs Helms/Crazy: Interesting start to Nitro, with the Flying Harts making their in-ring debut it seems, and against Helms and Crazy. A pretty fast paced match, with some straggling in between, but overall, no major flaws indicative here. The Flying Harts, as expected, get the victory, culminating in some interest for their future.

A Feud to let the Matches do the Talking: I remember their little Tag Team stint in WCW. Mysterio seems to be the Heel in this feud, am I correct? Interestingly enough, Kidman comes out. Their match should be off the charts, and hopefully, you can write a damn good one!

Big Poppa Pump in Da House: Typical Steiner, his character was really captured well. What made this promo even more enjoayble was having Steiner absolutely insult the hell out of Flair, even after Flair praises him so in the Opening promo. It made me laugh a bit... Looks like he is alone in this fight, nice to see a loner in the midst of a faction war.

nWo Vs Steiner, Palumbo, and O'Haire: Very slow match, with a bit of straying. You lost me in this match, it wasn't all that bad, but it wasn't very good to say the least either. Still, it managed to show off some interesting power moves and such, so no loss there. Pretty short match, but perhaps its a gift. Decent overall. The Young Lions and Poppa Pump pick up the win, giving Steiner the momentum.

The Return: Super Cage returning seems interesting! Very good hype added to the narration, and the setting seems befitting of Mayhem. Looking forward to it!

Sting issues an Open Challenge: Very cool promo by The Stinger. I'm a huge fan of Sting, so this comes as no surprise that I was interested in this promo. Sting belittling Bischoff and the nWo makes it all the more interesting, seeing as Bischoff and the nWo could be up to something involving the Six-Time WCW Champion. Can't wait to see whats in store in the Main Event tonight, and at Halloween Havoc!

Sucka, lets Hype up our match Brother: Entertaining Promo by Booker T and Hulk Hogan throughout the length. Your promos are simply excellent, and I could learn a thing or two from you. The promo flowed intricately, and there was no indication that anything said could not have been said by the men, which adds to the realism of their character. I enjoyed their back and forth remarks to eachother, should be interesting as their feud has reached the pinnacle of its standing.

Big Vito Vs Hugh Morris: Nothing really special about this match, seeing as it was a filler. But, the storyline surrounding this match could be something of worth. A match of their standards at a PPV? Should be interesting!

Simply The Best: Looks like you gave Lance Storm some measure of spotlight on Nitro, and rightfully so. Some more hype to be added to Havoc, which is already looking amazing right about now! Storm was bank on with his comments.

Main Event: Wasn't the best of ME, but certainly no where near bad by any means. I suppose Tag Team Main Events are just getting so stale and psuedo, damn you WWE! Anyway, the match was exciting nonetheless and furthered the feuds for Havoc and such. Couldn't of had it any other way, to be honest.

Overall Score: A marvelous show by you, Szumi. The matches were decent to interesting, and the promos, were excellent! I can't wait to see what Halloween Havoc brings, it looks solid! 9/10

Default Re: WCW 2001- The Trio Ownership

It’s been a long time since I read this thread, but I will do my best to try and remember everything that was happening in it

Good promo from Flair to start the show hyping up his title match, and also the WCW/NWO rivalry that is going on here. Steinar has to choose soon which side he is on, and I guess that will happen at the ppv

Flying Harts get the win on their debut, and it looks as if they are going to get a nice push in the tag team division towards the titles. Maybe a rematch next week to compensate for the cheap win

Rey cuts an okay promo, but then he starts to brawl with Kidman, hyping the fact that these two hate each other. Going to be a great match for sure

Strong promo from Steinar, and I guess he is going to win his tables match at the ppv this Sunday. He still appears to be a neutral in the war between the two sides, and eventually, he will have to commit to either side, but he could carry on the fight on his own

Steinar stays in control, and dominates the 6 man tag match to get the win, and put one over on the NWO before the matches that happen at the ppv. He is the hottest man in the thread at the moment

Don’t know much about the super cage, but it looks to be one hell of a structure

Sting issues an open challenge to anyone on the show for Havoc, and it will be good to see who he faces, and whoever they are, they will end up with some link to the new world order

Good promo between Booker T and Hogan, and that match is going to be a great one in terms of build up, as both men are looking so strong at the moment. Cant see either man losing to be honest, which leaves a no contest looking like the finish to have

Hugh Morris gets a win to allow him to get over a bit more, in what was not much more than a filler match really

Storm cuts a solid promo, and I cant see him losing the belt this Sunday to be honest

The faces get the win in the main event, and it looks good for team WCW at the moment, but I have a feeling that it wont be the same after the ppv, as I think Jarrett may be able to keep the title, by some way, although it wont be clean

WCW Halloween Havoc Preview

The date is Sunday, October 28. The year is 2001. The place is the Bi-Lo Center, in Greensville, South Carolina. The promotion is World Championship Wrestling. The show is Halloween Havoc. The setting… Pay Per View! WCW returns once again to Pay Per View this Sunday, with Halloween Havoc! Join ‘The Voice of WCW’ Tony Schiavone and ‘The Professor’ Mike Tenay at ringside for all of the great WCW action! But first, here is a rundown of your WCW Halloween Havoc card!

WCW World Heavyweight Title- Jeff Jarrett © vs. Ric Flair
WCW North American Title- Lance Storm © vs. Cal Anderson vs. Curt Hennig
WCW Tag Team Titles- Chuck Palumbo & Sean O’Haire © vs. KroniK
Grudge Match- Booker T vs. Hulk Hogan
Tables Match- Mike Awesome vs. Scott Steiner
Open Challenge- Sting vs. Mystery Opponent
No Count Outs- Billy Kidman vs. Rey Misterio Jr.
Grudge Match- Flying Harts vs. Shane Helms & Super Crazy

Jeff Jarrett © vs. Ric Flair

If you search the WCW roster, you will not find two other men who hate each other as much as The Nature Boy and The Chosen One. Ric Flair and Jeff Jarrett have been at each other’s throats ever since the re-launch of WCW in May, clashing several times in singles action. Ric Flair defeated Jeff Jarrett back at Slamboree with a crafty roll-up, and then again on Nitro in September, in a bloody cage match. Now, both men are hoping third time’s a charm. Jeff Jarrett wants to get that first win over The Nature Boy, while Flair is hoping a third win over The Chosen One will land him a 17th World Heavyweight Title reign. However, for Ric Flair to do that, he is going to have to do more than just beat the current World Heavyweight Champion! He is going to have to defeat the entire New World Order!

The nWo is back on top and running the show here in WCW, and Jeff Jarrett is at the front of the charge. And if he gets in trouble in this match, his lackeys will surely be there to help him. Curt Hennig, Mike Awesome, and KroniK all will be ready to obey WCW President, and nWo Leader, Eric Bischoff’s orders. Flair will certainly have his own back-up, as the legendary ‘Enforcer’ Arn Anderson will be in his corner come match-time! However, both men are going to have to put up their ‘A’ game if they want to win this Sunday. Who is going walk out of Halloween Havoc with the WCW World Heavyweight Title held high? Find out this Sunday!

Lance Storm © vs. Cal Anderson vs. Curt Hennig

Lance Storm has been on top of the WCW North American Title scene for almost 6 months now, and he has looked very impressive throughout that time. After winning the now defunct-United States Title against Hugh Morris at Slamboree, the two feuded in a bitter USA versus Canada war, and ended with the North American Championship debuting in WCW. The two fought for the Title at Souled Out in a ladder match, and the crafty Storm was able to leave with the Title. After another victory last month at Fall Brawl against Morris, this time in an ‘American Brawl’ street fight, Lance is now ready to show the world that he is indeed the best wrestler in the world. After picking up a victory in his ‘International Open Challenge’, Storm faced off with the undefeated Cal Anderson. Both men put on a great match, but before a winner could be decided, nWo member Curt Hennig intervened, attacking The New Enforcer. Storm took exception to that, and attacked Hennig, leading to the match here at Halloween Havoc. All three men have something to prove in this match, making each man want to win it all the more! Cal Anderson wants to continue his undefeated streak, while Curt Hennig is looking to bring home more gold to the nWo. Lance Storm is out to prove he can beat Cal Anderson, as well as showing he is the best wrestler in the world. It will be an impeccable battle come Halloween Havoc for the North American Championship, so order the PPV to see who can walk away with the victory!

Young Lions © vs. KroniK

They have fought each other countless times now, and every time these teams do fight, no one knows who will win! ‘The Young Lions’ Chuck Palumbo and Sean O’Haire and KroniK have a rich, albeit bloody, history with another, and both have dealt each team blow in the loss column. Blood has been shed, bones have been broken, and tears have been wept when these two teams battle. And now, they will fight one more time, for the greatest prize a tag team can fight for, the WCW Tag Team Titles!

Chuck Palumbo and Sean O’Haire were riding high in WCW at the re-launch of the company, but at Slamboree, their success came to a sudden halt at the hands of Brian Adams and Bryan Clarke, who defeated Palumbo and O’Haire for the Tag Titles. KroniK dominated the tag team division, while the Young Lions faltered, losing to Totally Buff at Souled Out. However, Palumbo and O’Haire got back on the right track, and won the Tag Titles for a second time together when Palumbo pinned Buff Bagwell. Now, KroniK is looking for their rematch, and only added more hatred to the fire by attacking the Young Lions from behind on the 10/10 edition, and joining the New World Order. Now, it is another battle in the long WCW vs. nWo war, with momentum swinging in the balance. Who will walk away this time with the victory in this brutal tag team match? Order the PPV to find out!

Booker T vs. Hulk Hogan

Hulk Hogan’s return to WCW was supposed to be a light at the end of the tunnel for WCW. However, the tunnel was crushed by a Leg Drop, courtesy of Hulk Hogan. ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair had intended on bringing in Hulk Hogan to help WCW in the fight against the New World Order. Hogan returned to the company just before Fall Brawl, and seemed to be aligned with WCW and Flair. However, when it came time for the War Games match at Fall Brawl, Hogan had mysteriously been attacked. Going into the match with a disadvantage, WCW was already getting beaten down by the nWo, when Hogan showed up. However, it wasn’t the American Hero, it was Hollywood. Hulk took out each member of Team WCW with a Leg Drop, and revealed to be a member of the nWo.

One man who was the least pleased with this was Booker T. Because of Hogan’s turn on WCW, Booker T ended up losing the World Heavyweight Title to Jeff Jarrett in the War Games match. When Booker T made a shocking return on the 10/10 edition of Nitro, he attacked Hogan from the crowd, and made his message clear; he wanted Hogan. After both men took their shots on the microphone, Booker T was able to goad Hogan into a match this Sunday at Halloween Havoc. Now, two great wrestlers will battle in the squared circle in a match of pride, and revenge. Only one man can walk away with the victory, but you’ll just have to order Halloween Havoc to find out who!

Mike Awesome vs. Scott Steiner

Mike Awesome is on a mission; take out Scott Steiner. However, Scott Steiner is on a mission as well; win the WCW World Heavyweight Title. After getting kicked out of the nWo just after Fall Brawl for demanding a World Title shot against Jarrett, Steiner set his sights on winning the Title. Steiner had a chance on the 10/03 edition of Nitro, but because of Awesome, and the rest of the nWo, he failed in the chance. Then again on the 10/17 edition of Nitro, Big Poppa Pump wrestled Ric Flair in a number one contender’s match, but once again, Steiner was denied by Mike Awesome, on Jeff Jarrett’s bidding. Now, Eric Bischoff is hoping Mike Awesome can finish Steiner off for good at Halloween Havoc, when the two lock horns, in a tables match! It will be a brutal match when these two step into the ring, as both men can slug it out with the best of them. Will Mike Awesome’s experience in a hardcore surrounding lead him to victory, or will the sheer intensity, and rage of Scott Steiner help him put Awesome through a table!? Find out at Halloween Havoc!

Sting vs. Mystery Opponent

Sting is an icon in this industry. He’s won countless World Titles, and has been a figurehead of WCW for a decade. But despite all of this, the Stinger has not been booked on the card for Halloween Havoc. Sting let out his frustrations this past week on Nitro, angry that Eric Bischoff and the New World Order are trying to hold him down. To get himself on the card this Sunday, he has issued an open challenge. Any person, man or female, child or adult, can show up to wrestle the Stinger, and they can be from anywhere in the world, from any company. Who will answer the Stinger’s challenge this Sunday, and can this mystery opponent knock off the Stinger!? Find out by ordering!

Billy Kidman vs. Rey Misterio Jr.

Billy Kidman and Rey Misterio Jr. have a long history together. They’ve been opponents, they’ve been a tag team, they’ve been champions, but most of all, they’ve been best friends. And when Billy Kidman and Konnan, his Filthy Animal running buddies, ‘didn’t show enough concern’ for Rey Misterio Jr. after he was injured by KroniK at Slamboree, Misterio ended up turning on the Filthy Animals, costing them the WCW Tag Team Titles at Souled Out. Ever since, Kidman and Misterio have become bitter enemies, and wrestled against another at Fall Brawl. Both men fought hard, but Billy Kidman was clearly the better man in everyone’s eyes, except Misterio. Rey walked out of the match, claiming he had proven he was the better man, although taking a count-out loss. Kidman clearly wasn’t happy with the result, and got a re-match for this Sunday against Misterio. However, this time, there are no count-outs! All other rules apply, but the two men can fight in any part of the building, so long as the pin takes place in the ring. There will be no running for Rey Misterio Jr. at Halloween Havoc this Sunday, but can Billy Kidman get the victory, and his revenge, on Misterio!? Or will Rey prove what he says; he is better than Billy Kidman. Find out this Sunday!

Flying Harts vs. Shane Helms & Super Crazy

Teddy Hart and Jack Evans are the new representatives of the Hart Family in professional wrestling, and are looking to make a big impact in WCW! To do that, they attacked the best cruiserweight in the company, the current WCW Cruiserweight Champion, Shane Helms. However, Helms was able to get help from an unlikely source, Super Crazy, the man Helms defeated to retain the Cruiserweight Title at Fall Brawl. Nonetheless, Crazy is looking to help Shane Helms defeat the Flying Harts this Sunday at Halloween Havoc, while Shane Helms looks to have no desire to team with Super Crazy. Will the combined efforts of Super Crazy and Shane Helms be enough to knock off the young rookies, or will the lack of chemistry lead Crazy and Helms to failure!? No matter what, it will be a great high flying match that you’re not going to want to miss! So order the PPV to watch it!

*EDIT* The last question has been changed. I never changed it from when I used to use EWR with it. It has now been changed. And for the reminder, * ratings are common. The lowest would be a DUD, and the highest any match can have is a ***** rating, which is very common. Also, a match can have a star rating of ** 1/2, or * 1/4, etc. The fractions will always only be 1/4, 1/2, or 3/4 of a star. Never anything more complex. Any questions, feel free to ask.
