Tony Schiavone: Hello everybody, and welcome, to Wednesday Nitro! I’m Tony Schiavone, joined once again by ‘The Professor’ Mike Tenay!
Mike Tenay: Thank you Tony, and again, welcome to WCW Wednesday Nitro. We are just 3 days removed from Souled Out, and Tony, what a pay per view event it was!
Tony Schiavone: It was a sick and disgusting event, but never the less, it was still an action-packed pay per view extravaganza!
Mike Tenay: At Souled Out, in a big shocker, Eric Bischoff turned on Ric Flair and Sting in the tag team main event, breaking a guitar over the head of ‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair. Bischoff showed his allegiance with Jeff Jarrett, Mike Awesome, and Scott Steiner, and also gave Flair a concussion!
Tony Schiavone: Because of the actions of Bischoff, Steiner, Jarrett, and Awesome, Ric Flair will not be in The Pavilion, here at Villanova University!
Mike Tenay: He’s not the only one however, as Booker T also will not be in attendance tonight, who was injured by the hands of ‘Big Poppa Pump’ Scott Steiner, both during and after, their match at Souled Out.
Tony Schiavone: Eric Bischoff has shown just what kind of man he truly is by screwing over Ric Flair, and he has continued to show the pathetic excuse of a human being that he is by booking Sting in a match against Scott Steiner tonight, right here on Wednesday Nitro. Without Ric Flair and Booker T, this new alliance is sure to gang up on the Stinger!
Mike Tenay: Sting still has Arn and Cal Anderson, but it will still be 4 on 3, Tony!
Tony Schiavone: And Arn can’t even wrestle! It’s basically 2 on 4!
Mike Tenay: It’s a terrible, terrible, situation for Sting, Tony, but we have to get things rolling here on Wednesday Nitro. Coming up after these commercial breaks, Billy Kidman, a man who was betrayed by his best friend, Rey Misterio Jr. at Souled Out, will go one-on-one with Yang! Don’t go away folks!
Billy Kidman (w/Tygress) vs. Yang
Yang was already in the ring as Nitro returned, but without Kaz Hayashi. Have the Yung Dragons split up or something? WCW booking at its finest, folks. Anyways, Billy Kidman came out to the ring as Nitro returned, anger filling his face. Kidman sprinted down to the ring, and then attacked Yang right away before the bell could even be rung. This match was all about Kidman. Commentary hyped up the Tag Title match from Souled Out, Rey Misterio’s shocking return to WCW, his even more shocking turn on the Filthy Animals, and Kidman’ rage at being betrayed by Misterio. Kidman dominated the early goings of the match, laying into Yang with stiff right hands and forearms. After getting the crowd going with a snap hurricanrana, Kidman almost scored the victory with a Shooting Star Press, but Yang rolled out of the way. The former (?) Yung Dragon member was able to briefly work over Kidman with a ground attack, but Kidman was too irate to be worked over. Kidman soon reversed out of a Yang vertical suplex, rolling out of the suplex and landing behind Yang. Kidman connected with an inverted swinging neck breaker, and then the Kidman Bomb, his version of the Sky High. The Shooting Star Press followed, and Billy Kidman was victorious. After the match, Billy got right into the camera, and shouted at Misterio, promising to get revenge on him, and make him regret what he did at Souled Out.
Billy Kidman defeated Yang at 4:28
Star Rating: ** (73, 57, 89)
Tony Schiavone: Professor, Billy Kidman is not a man to be messed with!
Mike Tenay: Not in the slightest, Tony Schiavone! Rey Misterio Jr. betrayed his long-time friends, Kidman and Konnan, at Souled Out, and Billy seems like he is ready to make sure Rey forgets doing it!
Tony Schiavone: We still don’t know why Rey Misterio turned on the Filthy Animals at Souled Out, but we will find out later tonight because Gene Okerlund will interview the six-time Cruiserweight Champion. However, we have to keep things rolling, as ‘The New Enforcer’ Cal Anderson will take on Disco Inferno!
Cal Anderson (w/Arn Anderson) vs. Disco Inferno
So for the second straight match in a row, we get ourselves a squash match. We also get a commercial break during the match, but that’s not till later. The two men put on a nice series of standing chain wrestling to start the match off, but Cal was the better wrestler, out-wrestling Disco and eventually taking him down to the canvas with a singe leg take down. Cal worked over Disco on the ground with an array of amateur style maneuvers, as well as some simple holds. Anderson dominates the match for the most part afterwards, slamming Disco around the ring. Cal focuses mainly on the back of Disco, attacking it relentlessly. The strategy of Cal worked nicely, as Disco became weak soon enough, falling prey to the Anderson Spine Buster. Cal covered and got the pin fall victory. After the match, ‘Double A’ Arn Anderson gets into the camera, and yells at Eric Bischoff, promising that he and Cal were going to take the fight to him and his cronies.
Cal Anderson defeated Disco Inferno at 4:19

Tony Schiavone: Cal Anderson is one heck of a blue-chip prospect, Professor!
Mike Tenay: He’s a great up and coming wrestler, that is for sure, Tony. He seems to be a great brawler and all-around technician. He sets his sights on one body part, and goes right to work on it until he beats his opponent into the ground.
Tony Schiavone: He’s tough, he’s rough, and he will beat you.
Mike Tenay: Yeah, just ask Alex Wright or now, Disco Inferno.
Tony Schiavone: Cal Anderson is a future World Champion in my books, and if I were Eric Bischoff or his group of friends, I’d be watching my back when Cal Anderson comes around. However, we have to send things backstage now, as ‘Mean’ Gene Okerlund is standing by with Rey Misterio Jr.!
Mike Tenay: This should be interesting!
The Return of the Luchadore
Gene Okerlund is backstage, standing by with Rey Misterio Jr. Rey-Rey is in his wrestling gear, and once again, has a lucha libre mask on. Okerlund starts the interview.
Gene Okerlund: Rey Misterio Jr., I think the question that everybody wants to ask you is, why did you turn your back on the Filthy Animals last night!?
Misterio looks at Okerlund, and shakes his head.
Rey Misterio Jr.: Gene Okerlund, the Filthy Animals are complete and total crap! For two plus years now, I’ve been stuck, and held back, in a faction that was going nowhere. Konnan, Billy Kidman, Tygress, they all loved being in the Filthy Animals. But not me! They loved the Animals because it gave them my name power! The Animals had the talent of Rey Misterio Jr.! I don’t need the Filthy Animals, and I’m not going to let them hold me back anymore!
I am a wrestling all-star, Gene. I am a god in Mexico! Konnan thinks he’s the biggest star ever in Mexico, but truth be told, K-Dawg, you ain’t nothin’ compared to me! And Billy Kidman, you think you’re the best talent here in WCW? Billy, I am! Rey Misterio Jr. is fifteen times the talent you are! You both held me back for over two years! I am a six-time WCW Cruiserweight Champion, but do you know how many times I’ve won that Title since being with the Animals, Gene?
Gene Okerlund: No, not at all.
Rey Misterio Jr.: Twice, Gene, twice! And you know what!? The last time I held that title was over two years ago! August 19, 1999! It’s been over two years since Rey Misterio Jr. has been a true star! And I blame all of that on the Filthy Animals! Because of Konnan, I lost my mask! Because of Konnan and Kidman, I haven’t won the Cruiserweight Title in over two years! Konnan and Billy Kidman, you have ruined my career! But you know what, Gene!?
Gene Okerlund: What, Rey?
Rey Misterio Jr.: It’s not too late for me to redeem myself! I have cut all ties with the Filthy Animals, and now, I am going to become the true star I was born to be! I am Rey Misterio Jr., an icon and pioneer of the cruiserweight division! And as of Souled Out, Rey Misterio Jr. is back, the real Rey Misterio Jr.! And the real Rey Misterio Jr. is going straight to the top! But, but before I do, I need to take care of some unfinished business.
Gene Okerlund: And just what is that!?
Rey Misterio Jr.: Destroying the Filthy Animals!
Gene Okerlund: And just why in the heck do you have to do that!?
Rey Misterio Jr.: Because I can, and because I want to! I want to destroy everything related to my horrible and miserable slump, and who better to destroy than Kidman, Konnan, and Tygress? Those are the three who screwed me over the most, and the reason for my slump! So Tygress, over time, you’ll get yours. Konnan, your time, is next week! I want you in a match next week! And Billy, Billy, you and me, we’re going to settle everything on pay per view. But not just any pay per view… we’re going to do this at Fall Brawl!
Misterio Jr. looks into the camera, the camera catching hate in his eyes. Rey-Rey then walks off screen, leaving ‘Mean’ Gene to wrap things up.
Gene Okerlund: Well there you have it ladies and gentleman! Rey Misterio Jr. is a changed man, and he wants Kidman at Fall Brawl, and Konnan next week on the return to primetime edition of Nitro! That is all from me for tonight, everybody! Mike, Tony, back to you!
Segment Rating: 80%
Tony Schiavone: Ugh, how disgusting!
Mike Tenay: That about describes my thoughts to, Tony! I cannot believe the words that were coming out of Rey Misterio Jr.’s mouth! How could he blame the Filthy Animals for his so called slump!? I don’t think Rey was in any kind of slump at all! But even if he thinks that he was, he only has himself to blame; not Billy Kidman or Konnan!
Tony Schiavone: I am appalled by Rey Misterio Jr., Professor! Billy Kidman and Konnan are great athletes, and are not even close to being the cause for Rey’s “slump”.
Mike Tenay: Well, why Rey Misterio Jr. has had this severe change of attitude is beyond me, but I do know that we have to take a commercial break, Tony! However, don’t go away ladies and gentleman because coming up next is the main event! Sting versus ‘Big Poppa Pump’ Scott Steiner!
When Nitro returns, Scott Steiner is finishing making his way to the ring, accompanied by Midajah. Steiner is receiving quite a bit of heel heat still, despite jobbing to Booker T cleanly last night, and looking like a total pussy. Steiner gets into the ring as “Seek and Destroy” by Metallica hits. The Stinger walks out to the ring, the crowd screaming and cheering for him, solidifying him as the company’s top face. Sting walks down the entrance aisle, his wielding a new baseball bat, that he points at Steiner. Sting gets into the ring, and the match is about to get underway.
Scott Steiner (w/Midajah) vs. Sting
Main event time, folks. The crowd was yet again, red hot for the WCW main event, but the match itself was not very good. The crowd was hot to begin with, but became even more hot when “Back in Black” played, bringing out Eric Bischoff, Jeff Jarrett, and Mike Awesome to ringside, just as the opening bell rang. So now, Sting was going up against a 1 on 5 disadvantage, which became the story of the match; Sting overcoming the odds. Sting was able to gain an advantage in the early goings of the match with right hands and other brawling tactics, but the number’s came into play; Jeff Jarrett tripped Sting up at ringside. This led to a quick altercation between Sting and Jarrett, the two men exchanging words. This altercation gave Big Poppa Pump enough time to recover, and then hit Sting with an overhead belly-to-belly suplex. Steiner controlled for almost the entire rest of the match after this, slowly working over Sting. The Stinger tried to make several comebacks during this time, but the numbers once again came into play, preventing Stinger from ever regaining control of the match.
Sting never gave up though, and proceeded to try and fight back. The Stinger finally caught a break, evading a Scott Steiner avalanche in the corner. Sting quickly whipped BPP across the ring into the opposite corner, and prepared to hit the Stinger Splash. However, Mike Awesome jumped up onto the apron, trying to prevent the Splash. Sting quickly dispatched of Awesome, knocking him off the apron with a right hand, and then hits Steiner with a Stinger Splash! Steiner staggers out of the corner, and Sting calls for the Scorpion Death Drop. Eric Bischoff then jumped onto the apron to distract Sting, but he took a hard right hand, sending him back down to the concrete floor. Sting then went for the Scorpion Death Drop, but Steiner reversed, shoving Sting into the corner. Sting ducked a clothesline, and quickly capitalized on Steiner’s position, nailing him with the Scorpion Death Drop. The Stinger looked to end things right away, locking in the Scorpion Death Lock. Sting only got to lock in his submission hold for about seven seconds though, as ‘The Chosen One’ Jeff Jarrett got into the ring, a guitar in hand. Sting never saw him coming though, and got planted with the guitar, right in the back of the head! Referee Nick Patrick had seen enough after that, and called for the disqualification, awarding the match to Sting. However, the fight was only beginning…

The Second War
Jeff Jarrett starts laying the boots to the fallen Sting, who seems to be down and out after getting the guitar busted over his head. Jarrett continues to lay the boots until Eric Bischoff, Mike Awesome, and Scott Steiner all recuperate. Awesome and Steiner join in on laying the boots to Sting, while Bischoff and Midajah laugh at the carnage in the ring. As the red-hot Villanova crowd jeers the heel faction, Awesome drags Sting up to his feet. Awesome holds Sting, allowing Bischoff to slap him in the face! Awesome then releases Sting, only for Jarrett to hit the Stinger with the Stroke! The assault isn’t finished though, as Jarrett rolls Sting over, onto his back, while Awesome climbs up to the top turnbuckle. Steiner holds Sting, and ‘The Career Killer’ comes off the top turnbuckle with a Frog Splash! Steiner then looks to finish Sting off, calling for the Steiner Recliner. ‘Big Poppa Pump’ is just about to lock in the Recliner, when “Sprach Zarathustra” hits the sound system in the Pavilion!
‘The Nature Boy’ Ric Flair is in the arena! But he’s not alone, Arn and Cal Anderson are both with him! The fans explode as “Sprach Zarathustra” continues to play throughout the Pavilion, giving Flair the loudest reaction of the night. Flair hobbles down the entrance aisle, his knee in a brace due to the injuries suffered from Souled Out. Flair leads the troops though, ordering Cal and Arn into the ring with him. The three men get into the ring, and a 3 on 3 brawl ensues; Jarrett with Flair, Steiner with Arn, and Awesome with Cal! Flair and Jarrett exchange a flurry of right hands, as do Cal and Awesome. However, poor Arn is dropped by one Steiner right hand. Flair and Cal start getting the upper hand on Jarrett and Awesome, but the numbers advantage for the heels kicks in. As Flair continues to gain the advantage on Jarrett, Eric Bischoff chop blocks Flair’s injured knee! Cal Anderson is hit from behind too, but by a Scott Steiner Steinerline to the back of the head!
All of the faces are down, and the heels have the advantage! Flair holds his knee in pain, while Mike Awesome and Scott Steiner hoist Cal Anderson up to his feet. Steiner connects with a vicious forearm to the face, and Mike plants Cal into the mat with an Awesome Bomb! Jeff Jarrett then hoists Flair up to his feet, looking to finish him off. Scott Steiner also pulls Sting up to his feet, who was showing signs of recovery. Jarrett holds Flair, while Steiner drills Sting with a vicious rotating belly-to-belly suplex! As Jarrett holds Flair, Eric Bischoff slaps Flair, and then spits right in his face! Flair is defenseless though, and gets planted with The Stroke! All of the faces are down, and the fans in the Pavilion are throwing trash into the ring, as well as booing very loudly in disgust. As they do so, Eric Bischoff gets a microphone from a stage hand.
Eric Bischoff: Yeah, that’s right, screw you fans! Throw your trash into the ring! Let it lay in the ring with the other trash like Ric Flair and Sting! Litter their sorry asses with trash!
Bischoff is cut off by another loud chorus of boos from the fans. The fans are hating this faction a lot more now than before due to Bischoff’s turn and alliance with the group. Bischoff just continues to yell into the microphone.
Eric Bischoff: Boo me all you want, I don’t give a damn! Sunday night at Souled Out, I showed you all my true colors! I showed you, that once again, Eric Bischoff was the mastermind of a great alliance! I was the man who brought Jeff Jarrett, Scott Steiner, and Mike Awesome together! It was all me, Eric Bischoff!
The fans are relentless, continuing to boo the hell out of Bischoff and co.
Eric Bischoff: From the very beginning, I was the mastermind of this little alliance! Back in 1996, I was the mastermind of a little group consisting of Hulk Hogan, Scott Hall, and Kevin Nash! Hulk Hogan wasn’t the mastermind; Eric Bischoff was! When I brought those three men together, we dominated World Championship Wrestling! We just about destroyed the whole damn company! But damn it, we didn’t! Having broken down pieces of shit *bleeped* like Kevin Nash and Scott Hall screwed my plan up! But now, five years later, The Bisch if back!
The crowd continues to boo the hell out of Bischoff.
Eric Bischoff: Now in 2001, I am going to destroy WCW! Last time around, pieces of crap like Ric Flair and Sting were able to help save WCW, but not this time! WCW, you have no one to save you! Your “savior” Sting is laid out! Ric Flair is old and is broken down even more than someone like Randy Savage! Arn Anderson is a cripple! Cal Anderson is a green piece of shit *bleeped* who is only in this company because of his last name! You have no one! Oh, wait… you have Booker T!
The crowd start cheering for Booker T, hoping he’ll show up and fight Bischoff and his cronies. Bischoff and Jarrett, as well as the rest of the group, laugh.
Eric Bischoff: But wait, he’s not even here! We kicked his ass at Souled Out so badly, that he was too embarrassed to show up tonight! Booker T is no savior, and he is no World Heavyweight Champion either! I guarantee you this, assholes, Booker T is losing that Title next week!
The crowd continues to boo Eric Bischoff and the rest of the faction.
Eric Bischoff: This faction right here, will destroy WCW! World Championship Wrestling is a titanic! I’ve tried to destroy this company twice now, but the third time is a charm! The Outsiders couldn’t do it! The New Blood and Vince Russo couldn’t do it! But these men in the ring with me right now, they can!
The fans still are booing Bischoff! At this point, Jeff Jarrett leaves the ring, and pulls a black duffle bag out from under the ring.
Eric Bischoff: World Championship Wrestling is about to enter another war; World War Two! Back in 1996, World War One began! But in 2001, World War Two begins! And this time, the Nazi’s are winning!
Jarrett slides the duffle bag into the ring, and gets back into the ring himself. Awesome and Steiner lay some boots to the fallen faces. Eric Bischoff starts to yell into the microphone with an arrogant tone.
Eric Bischoff: I am Adolf Hitler! And my Nazi’s, my Nazi’s are the New…World…Order!
The fans just about blow the roof off of the Pavilion at the announcement of the return of the New World Order. Jarrett opens up the duffle bag, and reveals the classic black and white nWo t-shirts, as well as cans of spray paint! Jarrett takes a can, shakes it up, and walks over to Flair, who is laid out on his stomach. The fans jeer, knowing what is coming. Bischoff is laughing hysterically, while Midajah hands Steiner and Awesome nWo shirts to put on. Jarrett squats down, and spray paints “N W O” on Flair’s back! Jarrett then is handed an nWo t-shirt from Midajah, and he puts it on. The new, New World Order all celebrate in the ring, as the classic New World Order theme plays in the Pavilion to end Wednesday Nitro!

Tony Schiavone: Oh my God I cannot believe it! It can’t be true! The New World Order is back!
Mike Tenay: I wish it were a lie, Tony, by the deadliest faction in the history of World Championship Wrestling has returned! Tony, we’re in for a war!
Tony Schiavone: The Second War!
Mike Tenay: Well, “World War One” ended without a victory for the New World Order, but it seems like they are hell bent on winning this time! All I know is, is that some of Eric Bischoff’s comments were out of line, and just down right inappropriate!
Tony Schiavone: But nothing can be done! There was no one to stop the WCW President! Ugh, that just makes me sick! The leader of the nWo is the WCW President! That is just not right!
Mike Tenay: Ladies and gentleman, this has been a historic night for WCW; I’m glad you tuned in to watch, even though it has probably given you a sick feeling in your stomach like it has for me! We are out of time though, so be sure to tune in next week! But remember, we are on at a new time next week! Wednesday Nitro returns to primetime, airing next Wednesday at 8 PM Eastern Standard Time! It will be a memorial night, so be sure to tune in! For Tony Schiavone, I am Mike Tenay, see you next week!
