Raw Review

Opening Promo - McMahon's opening things tonight. Should be good. Anything with him is usually very entertaining. Ultimatum? Uh. Bringing the contract into it I don't really like. I don't know why. Title Shots vs. Contracts. Sounds like a really big match especially with the high caliber wrestlers in this match. I think this makes it look more like a Team HBK win because losing out on 4 wrestlers is huge. Especially 4 quality faces on Raw. The ending was rather abrupt and out of nowhere, which is slightly good. I'm quite surprised none of the other guys said anything. But yah, great concept to the match, and a decent enough way to open up Raw. Things flowed okay, but I felt the promo was rather generic. Bringing in other voices could have helped. Like HBK being the voice of the team isn't that right especially when contracts are on the line. Meh. Once again, good enough way to open the show.

Hardy vs. Striker - Sounded like a very entertaining match. Having Test at ringside and watching Hardy win is good, but I think there should have been more between the two after the match, as I didn't like the quick switch.

McMahon/Coach Promo - Good promo here. Coach was the wanting bitch that he is, and McMahon is the "powerful" one. Christian vs. Austin sounds good, and the 3 on 1 against HBK sounds really random and lopsided. Lol. I think it's too much, but it definitely is a good way to get over the feud. Good stuff.

Haas/Shelton Promo - "Look what the cat drug in!" sounds awkward. Promo kind of foreshadows the team reforming to me. I see it definitely happening, but then again, Shelton might just feud with Haas, which is just as good. Not a bad promo. I felt the interruption from Shelton came to early though.

Benjamin vs. McAllister - Wasn't surprised to see Benji pick up the win especially since he was just in a promo and he's the IC Champ. Good stuff. Random opponent though.

Carlito/Booker Promo - Carlito's Cabana! I think Carlito should have said more about Booker T and his "guest" before introducing him. It was rather quick how he just introduced Book and definitely could have used some length. Lol @ Carlito. I expected him to say something different other than ebonics though. Rest of the promo seemed rather rushed, and could have been lengthen. So much possibilities in this one, but it didn't end up as good as I expected. The feud looks good though. Hated that Carlito barely spoke throughout the promo when Book was there, but whatever. Okay promo here.

3 on 1 Match - I kind of expected this to be the main event or at least after Christian vs. Austin. Meh, I guess there's a good point to why this is here. Michaels seemed to be coming back before a random chair shot from Edge. I guess it's about taking Michaels out, not beating him, which I can understand. Cena and Flair make the save before things get worse, which is good. I like the booking there. Good stuff.

Cryme Tyme Promo - Not bad. I liked the concept. Your really putting them over as being comedic and "black" though. I kind of like that in a way. Good stuff here. Really creative.

Christian Promo - Lol @ Maria. Everyone uses the "Austin is too old" type promo when doing a promo against him nowadays. Odd reason for Christian wanting to beat Austin, but I'll take it. Christian definitely was good for character. Could have been better. Flow was okay, could have been better also. Good promo though.

Christian vs. Austin - Brass knucks ftw. Hah. Not bad. Don't know why Christian had to really use it. Didn't make much of a difference to me.

Contract Signing - I like the words from both men. Jericho was inspiring, well, king of, and RVD was defensive in a way. Good job there. The ending wasn't that great. I expect something more. The fight at the end was okay. I was expecting something over the edge in excitement though. I think my expectations are too high.

Overall - Solid show. Promos, I kind of felt were weaker. Probably because they were rushed or something like that. Matches were okay. The placing wasn't to my liking. Overall booking is good. Good stuff KOP. Keep it up. I decided not to review SD because it's a recap. I'll read through it though. And here are some predictions...

WWE Championship
Rob Van Dam (c) w/ Sabu vs. Chris Jericho w/ Chuck Palumbo

Van Dam, while winning the championship back at Mania and having a great run as champion in this thread, I have a feeling that Summerslam is the time that Y2J once again becomes WWE Champion.

World-Heavyweight Championship
Triple Threat Match
Kurt Angle (c) vs. JBL vs. Mark Henry

In a feud that has been built quite well, I have a feeling that JBL will beat Angle or Henry and leave the new World Heavyweight Champion.

Steel Cage Showdown
Team McMahon (Triple H, Christian, and Rated RKO) vs. Team Michaels (Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Ric Flair, and Stone Cold Steve Austin)

Probably the biggest match that you have build up over the past couple of months, looks like Team Michaels winning with Michaels getting the win over Hunter.

Last Ride Match
The Final Encounter
The Undertaker vs. Batista

Both men have looked strong in this feud and have gotten some huge wins over the other, but I think that this is Taker's match to win.

Intercontinental Championship
Shelton Benjamin (c) vs. Jeff Hardy

With the way this feud has been going and how Hardy has been pushed in this thread, I say Hardy wins and becomes the new Intercontinental Champion.

United States Championship
Mr. Kennedy (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
Special Referee: Matt Hardy

Kennedy retains the title, after Hardy accidentally costs Mysterio the match, and the Hardy and Mysterio begin a feud against one another.

Grudge Match
Carlito vs. Booker T

Despite Booker running from Carlito back on the final Raw, Booker picks up the win at Summerslam due to some cheating on his part.

Grudge Match
Bobby Lashley vs. Finlay

Lashley looks to be getting a push in this thread, and a win over Finlay looks to take place at Summerslam, and a possible continuation of the feud between the two.

Overall this is a great card and I'm looking forward to it.

KOP's SmackDown Feedback

I seem to be saying this to everyone of late, but I'm sorry for the lateness of this review

~ Now THIS is what I've been waiting for for weeks now with the build towards the Batista/Undertaker match at SummerSlam. I actually think Big Dave has very underrated mic skills, especially when he is playing the monster heel character that you have him as. Intensity can do a hell of a lot for a promo, and from the recap 'Tista sounded intense as hell. Nice heel touch with the video package as well, but the aftermath with the appearance from The Undertaker is the thing that really got me excited about this feud now. Is this the first time we have actually seen 'Taker in person since the Great American Bash? I think it is. 'Taker actually actually seems to get the better of Batista in this little flurry, which kind of surprised me on the very last show before SummerSlam, because I am expecting 'Taker to go over. However, after this, and all of the exposure you have given heel Batista of late ... could we see a surprise?

~ I'm still a little gutted that the Cruiserweight match wasn't featured at SummerSlam, but it was still one HELL of a way to kick of the show tonight. Despite the recap you wrote the description at a fair old pace to bring in realism, although it did kind of sound like a Tornado Tag Match, with the Mexicools and Pitbulls teaming together. No real surprise to Noble retain, continuing what has probably been the best reign of this thread. A solid 8 months is it now? Personally I can see Kid Kash pinning one of the Mexicools to win the belt at some point, although that would suggest another Noble/Kash feud, and that seemed to have run its course at No Way Out and Wrestlemania.

~ This feud between Finlay and Bobby Lashley has improved a lot over the last few weeks. This is proper hype, unlike the rather silly comedy sketches we have been having over the past. Just a simple, intense promo from Finlay, followed by a squash of a veteran Hardcore Holly. Finlay is being built up very well now, and he even left Lashley a bloody mess at the end. Heh heh, I had the same kind of thing in my thread. It's great fun having Finlay batter Lashley Looks like Bobby will be going over at SummerSlam though, which is fine, since I can see the feud carrying on to a gimmick match at No Mercy.

~ Ah,Kennedy promos make me happy. I am nearly 100% certain that there is no way that Kennedy is dropping the U.S title at SummerSlam. He only just won kit at GAB, and I can see you giving him quite a long reign (unlike the ones Booker and Lashley got) because he is, quite frankly, the most entertaining person on the show I don't actually think Matt Hardy will play a role in the match until the very end when he costs Rey the match or something along those lines. Everything seems to point to a feud bewteen those two, and I think I agree.

~ Good win for Paul Burchill tonight over Steven Richards. I hope he keeps this momentum up, because his feud with MVP is rapidly sending both men, both new to the world of singles competition, right towards the United States title.

~ I used to love those promo videos that Mark Henry always put on, so I liked this one. Oddly, I actually have my fingers crossed that Henry gets the title at SummerSlam, mainly because I want to see something really original happen. I've never seen anyone give Henry the gold before.

~ You have to understand, KOP, why I've been seeing this JBL business as kind of confusing. You said he wasn't feuding with Teddy Long, yet we continue to get these segments with him. No Mercy will undoubtedly feature Angle/Henry for the title, and I can see JBL moving over to commentary or some other role.

~ We finally get the big tag team match up between the Hooligans and the Bluebloods. These two are basically the only teams in your division right now, so throwing them into an instant feud was the only thing you could do. I expect the same kind of treatment for Cryme Tyme on Raw with MNM. No real surprise to see Regal and Taylor get the win, as I'm sure they'll earn a title shot by No Mercy.

~ Heel Batista is so much better. Maybe I should turn him heel he my thread? Hmmmm... Also, when wrestlers beat up random workers it makes me happy.

~ Nice little interview from Matt Hardy and Rey Mysterio next. The way these two have been with one another of late has been almost like a tag team, they are almost TOO friendly. I personally think that all of this comaraderie we are seeing is setting them up for a bif fall come SummerSlam.

~ Great Main Event to really give the U.S title division some hype. MVP sounded excellent during this match, as he sold his 'leg injury' all the way. I can't believe Paul Burchill actually came down for no reason other than to cost MVP the match. This feud is really hotting up. I had thought that Rey might pin Kennedy, but I guess that might take too much momentum away from Double K.

~ Ha ha, Miz is such a dork, I can't believe you actually gave him mic time You really seem to love these face to face interviews to close the final shows before PPVs. First the contract signing on Raw and now this. JBL seemed to carry most of the promo but Henry and Angle had some godd input as well. No real surprise to see JBL assault Angle but have it backfire immediately. The way you wrote it seemed to suggest that it was a level playing field at the end of the night, but I actually think that Angle came off the strongest ... just ...

Overall this was a pretty good recap to head into the 2nd biggest PPV of the year with. Not only did all of the SummerSlam feuds get exposure (I love Batista/'Taker) but you made it perfectly clear that after SummerSlam the feuds leading to No Mercy will be equally good. Great job, bud

WWE Championship
Rob Van Dam (c) w/ Sabu vs. Chris Jericho w/ Chuck Palumbo

Van Dam has been on an absolute role in this thread, and whilst I very badly want Y2J to get the gold, I don't think he will be getting it at his first shot. With this being RVD's first reign, I think you are not going to have him drop it until around Unforgiven or Survivor Series.

World-Heavyweight Championship
Triple Threat Match
Kurt Angle (c) vs. JBL vs. Mark Henry

I know it's boring of me to think that there will be no major title changes at a big PPV, but I honestly can't see you taking the belt off Angle. Not only do you seem to love him as the Champion on either brand, but JBL is on the way out, and I don't think you like Henry enough. I hope I'm wrong though.

Steel Cage Showdown
Team McMahon (Triple H, Christian, and Rated RKO) vs. Team Michaels (Shawn Michaels, John Cena, Ric Flair, and Stone Cold Steve Austin)

I basically going off what I THINK should happen. Looking at Team McMahon, they have three young guys that need the rub from this, whilst Team Michaels has three old veterans and John Cena. Plus, the last few weeks has been a succession of Superkicks for Rated RKO and Christian.

Last Ride Match
The Final Encounter
The Undertaker vs. Batista

I don't believe I actually put that, but I can see Big Dave going over 'Taker this Sunday. Batista has not won a match in this feud next, but I reckonhe is being built up for this baby. Could someone interefere and cost 'Taker the match? It's highly possible.

Intercontinental Championship
Shelton Benjamin (c) vs. Jeff Hardy

Here's our new champion. I've been fairly certain of this for a while now, that Shelton's long reign is ending. I think Charlie Haas may interfere though.

United States Championship
Mr. Kennedy (c) vs. Rey Mysterio
Special Referee: Matt Hardy

I don't even think this one needs explaining. Kennedy hasn't had the belt long. Mysterio had a four months reign as U.S Champion earlier in the year. Hardy will accidentally screw his friend.

Grudge Match
Carlito vs. Booker T

I think that Carlito SHOULD go over because he is younger and needs the push, but I think, judging from the last Raw, that Booker T will get a controversial victory.

Grudge Match
Bobby Lashley vs. Finlay

Lashley will most likely be stepping up towards the World title soon, so odds are he'll be pushed faster than Finlay. Plus, Finlay beat the crap out of Lashley on the last SmackDown, so that speaks for itself.

Great card. Awesome booker. Fantastic match writer. This should be off the chart, KOP

~

King of Painís SMACKDOWN Comments.

Mate, Iím sorry that Iíve been non-existent in here of late. Iíve taken a bit of a break from reviewing for a while, life has been flat out, Iíve still been reading so Iím not out of touch with whatís going on at least. This may be a little brief due to the show being recapped, but never the less here we go.

There are a few people doing Undertaker v Batista at the moment in BTB. Itís good though, because of the three threads I read that are doing it (This thread, Legends and Kid O Macís) each and everyone of you put your own different swing on it to make it original, different and entertaining. Anyway, enough dribble, solid opening promo from Batista here. I dig him as a heel. His passion, drive and intensity really shone through here and if you can do that with Batista in his promos you generally capture my attention despite the fact he can be relatively bland. Anyway, Taker comes out, getting the better of Dave in their brief exchange which is a bit of a shock because I canít see him losing at Summerslam. Although perhaps Batista will go over and he may head into a title feud with Angle? Who knows?

This match should have been on Summerslam. End of story. Iím pissed that it wasnít to be honest. Lol. The build for it has been excellent, definitely worthy of a Pay Per View. Noble wins what was a very well written recap, I really got into it despite it being relatively limited in length. Great to see Noble retain as his title reign lives on. I question whether youíll ever take the CW belt off him? Lol. The only thing I didnít like about this match was the amount of comradary that was shown amongst the competitors. I wouldíve liked to have seen it get a little more spiteful between the Pitbulls, at least.

Hmm. Finlay. I still donít like him. Solid promo though, hyping his match with Lashley, making it look as if itís a tiny bit important.

Finlay squashes Holly. Thatís good because I hate Holly more than I donít like Finlay. The aftermath was cool, made the feud feel really very personal.

Nice promo from Kennedy. I think heíll retain the title at Summerslam via DQ or something and then beat the crap out of Hardy after he Disqualifies him. I canít see Kennedy losing, nor can I see Rey or Hardy turning on the other.

Burchill squashes Stevie. Fair enough. I mark for the C-4.

I hate Henry. I really do. I donít think heíll win the title but kudos in a way to you if you do put the belt on him, because even though I hate him, it will be something different and different is good.

Lol @ Bradshaw. I hope he wins, but I donít think it will happen. I hope to see JBL continue in this thread in some proximity though.

HUGE win for Regal and Taylor, really. It gives them some good momentum and makes them look quite credible. Solid recap here too, very nicely written.

Haha. Batista goes nuts backstage. Thatís cool. Definitely further establishes him as a heel, which is obviously the main objective.

Hmm pretty standard stuff from Rey and Hardy for mine. How things go down at Summerslam remain to be seen but I donít think anyone will be turning.

I found this promo a little hard to get into because it wasnít in full, but oh well. Still it was very effective in hyping the Title match at Summerslam. I really liked the ending of this one purely because no one came out looking weak nor did anyone come out looking like they had a decisive advantage. Good way to end the show and I think the promo was the best way to do it as there wasnít really a way you couldíve incorporated these three into a match. The match at SS could be quite good and Iíve really got no idea as to just who will walk out the victor. I love the result being unpredictable, so all is good.

Overall, a solid recap KOP as we head towards Summerslam which looks to be shaping up as a top show.

Default Re: WWE Unleash the Fury

Wow, I'm back. Wouldn't have thought that I'd be back going solo again but here I am. Hollywood and myself talked it over and well, here I am. Talked to Reney bout it and he OK'd me restarting this back up. Now moving on, I've got a big year coming up as I need to go get a job, etc. and basically I just also want to enjoy being a teen for the last few years I have left. I decided to come back to this thread since it's been ran on and off since December of 2005 now. I've only partnered twice and those lasted three months altogether so really I've only been away from this thread for 3 months. Enough said on that, let me go ahead and give you my plans for this thread.

Whenever I left to go join Hollywood in our partnership, I had 5 matches written for SummerSlam. Well now I have 6! Yay. Haha, but anyways enough of that. That basically means that I'm wanting to have SummerSlam up by this upcoming weekend. I know I can get it done and really I need to because I've been working on the lead up to this show in this thread since literally last summer. Sad I know haha but yeah. So basically, let me lay out my plans for Raw and Smackdown now.

Ok, I'm trying to decide on ideas on how to post shows now. As most know, I've never been the fastest writer. I have great ideas though leading up to WrestleMania 23. But anyways, I'm thinking of say for example Unforgiven is the next PPV, I write Raw in full and SD! in recap. Or I'm thinking of just writing both shows in recap. My recapped shows are normally big enough anyways so they could cover for a written out show anyways. So basically I'm stuck on that idea and I'll think of that later on. But right now I'm leaning more towards the recapping both shows.

And finally concerning SummerSlam, I need to know if you guys want me to post a brief synopsis on each feud just to refresh everybody's minds about the feuds that were going on, etc. If that is desired, then I could have that up by this Monday or Wednesday. Please just feel free to tell me what you all want and I can try to work around it.

Anyways, it's great to be back here in Unleash the Fury and let me go ahead and say that this will be my last project here on WF. That doesn't mean I'm leaving now but if I ever want to leave, I'll "retire" so to speak from BTB with this thread. It's done me good and that's why from now on, I'm going to stick with this.

So finally, look for SummerSlam this weekend and I'm going to try and get back in the swing of reviewing threads next week. Anything that I forgot, I'll just edit back in here.
