WWE Great American Bash 2006
Sunday July 23, 2006
Washington, D.C.

We open up with the WWE: The Power is Back Video before we see an American flag being raised by the troops of the United States. Flashing images of the troops saluting the flag are shown.

Narrator: The desire to be free has brought them here tonight….

Past images of the WWE’s trip over to Irag and Afghanistan are shown. The superstars are shown with the troops smiling and playing around.

Narrator: A great American tradition that continues to this day….

Past images of the Great American Bash the past two years WWE held it with a few clips of WCW’s era of the Bash thrown in.

Narrator: Continues on through all the hearts and minds of the superstars…

Rey Mysterio, Chris Benoit, Kurt Angle, JBL, and others are all shown posing on the top turnbuckles.

Narrator: And tonight, that desire has brought them to one place…

Images of the White House are shown, and other huge attractions in the capital of America.

Narrator: The capital of the United States….

A waving flag is shown with a bald eagle flying across the screen before images of superstars come back on and start to speed up.

Narrator: Welcome to Washington, D.C….

The images start to slow down as the American flag is shown being lifted by the American troops once more.

Narrator: Welcome….

The flag is shown being raised halfway up now.

Narrator: to the….

The flag is all the way at the top with flashing images of the superstars coming back on before they blow up and red, white, and blue stars go everywhere on the screen with a flag flying in the background once again.

Narrator: The Great American Bash!!!

The cameras cut into the arena with the red, white, and blue pyro setting off in the arena to huge pops as the fans are going wild as Enemy by Godsmack plays! The cameras scan all across the nation’s capital building with the fans cheering and getting pumped up before we head over to ringside.

Michael Cole: Wow, what a wild night it is going to be and with a crowd of 18, 000 plus, we are in for one great show!

Tazz: Of course we are Cole; we have four main events tonight! That’s right four huge matches; first off, we’ve got a Steel Cage Match for the US title!

Michael Cole: And if that wasn’t all, what about Undertaker meeting Batista once again tonight, plus Edge and Orton team together to fight Rey Mysterio and Chris Benoit

Tazz: And the main event, which will see two great Americans battling it out with JBL cashing in his Money in the Bank briefcase he won at WrestleMania!

Match #1
Cruiserweight Championship
Jamie Noble (c) w/ Kid Kash vs. Super Crazy w/ Psicosis

For the first time this year on PPV, a Cruiserweight title match is kicking off the show! Though an interesting fact, the Mexicools have opened up all three of Smackdown’s brand only PPV’s this year. Anyways, onto the match which Super Crazy earned a few weeks back against his own tag partner, Psicosis, the right to fight Noble tonight. It turns out to be an evenly well-fought match between both men with the occasional interferences from Psicosis and Kash. An interesting spot takes place in the match with Super Crazy on the ropes looking for a dropkick to take down Noble with but Kash climbs the ropes, and tries knocking Super Crazy off the ropes. Psicosis however, won’t take any of it as he runs into the ring and baseball dropkicks Kash face first into the apron! Kash hits his face first as Psicosis is now brawling with Kash on the outside. Super Crazy gets distracted by this and he sees Noble run at him. Super Crazy jumps over Noble but Noble stops himself from running into the turnbuckles. However, as Noble turns around, he runs right into a Hurricanrana, which sends Noble to the outside. Super Crazy gets back onto the ropes and tells Psicosis to pick Kash and Noble up. Psicosis does so as Super Crazy gains his footing and does a Moonsault to the outside of the ring! Super Crazy got some high air as Psicosis helps him back to his feet and right back into the ring. Super Crazy has no trouble standing as he landed right on Kash and Noble and didn’t miss. Super Crazy goes for a quick cover but somehow, Noble gets a shoulder up. Super Crazy gets back to his feet and grabs Noble before whipping Noble into the ropes. Noble runs right back at Super Crazy but Super Crazy leaps over Noble, and Noble stops before Super Crazy comes back. Noble grabs Super Crazy and hits a huge neck breaker! Noble goes for a cover but only gets a two count, before he slaps the mat in fury. Noble gets back to his feet picking up Super Crazy, looking for the Tiger Driver but Super Crazy slides off the shoulders into a DDT! Super Crazy grabs Noble’s leg and hooks, but gets 2 and 7/8’s on the count! The fans are cheering on Super Crazy in this great attempt of his to rid Noble of champion but Super Crazy can’t do so as of right now. Super Crazy now gets back to his feet and pulls Noble back up before Kash climbs back onto the ropes. Kash argues with the ref but Super Crazy walks over and hits Kash with a hard right. Super Crazy turns around right into a low blow from Noble and the ref never detected it! The fans are booing as Noble grabs Super Crazy and hits the Tiger Driver for the win!

Winner and STILL Cruiserweight Champion: Jamie Noble

Noble grabs his title as he barely escaped with it tonight, as he holds it high and the fans boo the hell out of Noble and Kash’s tactics. Noble and Kash make their way to the back as Super Crazy is coughing in the ring, with Psicosis checking on him, to see how he is doing. The fans applaud Super Crazy for this great attempt tonight and he has been the closest so far to almost get rid of Noble as the champion from his seven-month reign.

Backstage, William Regal is with Finlay. Regal says that him and Finlay have had their differences and he knows that they both do hate each other. But Regal wants to put that aside tonight and go out there, take out Burchill, and then the best man win! Finlay says that he isn’t going to make any deals or bargains with anybody because he didn’t come here for that. He came just to get into a fight and that is what he is going to do tonight. Regal shakes his head in disgust at his former tag partner as Finlay makes his way to the arena for their match.

Michael Cole: And coming up next, the story of three former friends and tag partners, which has led to a huge travesty.

Tazz: All three men have been wanting to rip each other’s heads off and tonight, they finally get that chance in the nation’s capital.

Michael Cole: They all have legitimate beef with one another and tonight, whoever wins is sure to get their name out there.

Tazz: And really, if you have ever wanted to see a very aggressive match, then this is going to be the one to watch tonight.

Match #2
Triple Threat Grudge Match
Finlay vs. William Regal vs. Paul Burchill

This turns out to be a ground and pound match between Finlay, Regal, and Burchill. All three members have been at each other’s throats since Ukliq broke up in late May and it comes to a culmination tonight. Finlay and Regal team together for a little bit but that is quickly broken off as both of them go at it. Finlay and Regal exchange blows for a little bit until underneath the ring, a mysterious leprechaun grabs the leg of Regal and trips him up. Finlay starts kicking the leprechaun pushing him back up under the ring. The fans watch as the leprechaun slides Finlay his shillelagh from underneath the ring as Finlay chops Regal in the back of the leg with the shillelagh as the ref has no clue about this. Finlay quickly slides back into the ring, going back to work on Burchill but as he does, “Pirate” Paul catches Finlay with a Belly-to-Belly Suplex. Burchill quickly goes to grab Finlay but as he does, the leprechaun runs into the ring. The ref jumps back as the leprechaun is running around the ring but the referee is trying his best to get the little midget out. Regal now slides back into the ring holding the back of his leg with Finlay’s shillelagh. Regal grabs the shillelagh looking to hit Finlay with it but he misses and instead hits Burchill! Finlay quickly kicks Regal and grabs the shillelagh before clubbing Regal right across the head with the shillelagh. The referee turns around as Finlay calls him over and he gets the cover, One…Two…Three and the win. Finlay celebrates as he slides to the outside of the ring. Finlay grabs the leprechaun and hoists him into the air as they make their way to the back.

Winner: Finlay

We head backstage to see Miz catching up with Finlay. Miz asks what the little fella’s name is and Finlay tells him its Hornswoggle. Finlay lets Hornswoggle go as the camera follows Hornswoggle running around backstage. Finlay takes off trying to chase Hornswoggle as Miz is left standing there; wanting to further interview Finlay but it’s too late.

We now get a brief video recap of the tag feud between Rated RKO and Mysterio (was supposed to be with Benoit but due to the tragedy, we’ve replaced Benoit with Matt Hardy. Hardy was supposed to feud with MVP and have a match at the Great American Bash against MVP but since that wasn’t announced and there was little build anyways, I decided to team Mysterio and Hardy. There wasn’t another face that could have teamed with Mysterio anyways. I’m sure everybody will understand.)

Michael Cole: This feud has surely been intense and now tonight, Mysterio and Hardy must try their best to overcome Rated RKO.

Tazz: These two teams have been nearly at each other since early June and I must say that tonight is the culmination of something big.

Match #3
Rated RKO vs. Rey Mysterio and Matt Hardy

This turns out to be a pleasant surprise as both teams put on one hell of a match tonight, with Hardy and Mysterio putting up a big fight. But it starts to go downhill for the Mysterio/Hardy team whenever Edge and Orton have to use their normal tactics, that of cheating to gain an advantage. Edge and Orton have Mysterio isolated in the corner as both men take turns kicking the hell out of Mysterio, bruising his ribs, which have been injured earlier this year by Batista at Judgment Day. Mysterio was on the sidelines because of this for nearly six weeks. Anyways, back to the match! Orton and Edge try to rip the mask off Mysterio’s face trying to reveal the “fraud that he is” according to Orton as they yell that out across the arena. Hardy is trying his best to get the fans to get behind Mysterio but Edge quickly runs over and knocks Hardy off the apron. Edge and Hardy go at it on the outside now with the referee trying to restrain some order in the ring right now. This gives Orton time to quickly place Mysterio on the ropes. Orton is possibly looking for a Super RKO but Mysterio, with all his might kicks Orton away from him. Mysterio quickly regains his footing and leaps off the top rope with a crossbody. The ref runs over but only gives a two count. Mysterio gets back to his feet as he runs off the ropes and hits Orton with a Spinning Heel Kick. Mysterio quickly leaps onto the shoulders of Orton looking for a Hurricanrana but Orton throws Mysterio back down onto the mat. Mysterio lands on his feet but as he turns around, he drops Mysterio with an RKO! Hardy sees this as he tries running into the ring to break the count but Edge holds the leg of Hardy as the ref counts and gives the win to Rated RKO!

Winners: Rated RKO

Rated RKO escape with the win as they both celebrate in the ring as we head to the back.

Backstage, Batista is sitting down in his locker room thinking about his match later tonight. Kristal walks in trying to get a word with the former champion but Batista doesn’t say anything and simply ignores her. As Kristal goes to ask another question, Batista simply walks out of the room with Kristal still standing there, dazed and confused.

We head backstage once again this time to see MVP walking around backstage before bumping into Theodore Long. MVP greets T-Lo as he calls him and says that this week on Smackdown, MVP is heading on a mission. A mission that is going to create him as one of the biggest superstars not only Smackdown has seen, not only the WWE has seen, but the entire world of sports-entertainment. MVP continues on before T-Lo agrees to this Open Challenge. Long says that MVP can challenge anybody and everybody from the WWE. MVP states that there isn’t a man out there that can, or will beat “The Franchise” MVP on Smackdown this week.

Michael Cole: Normal MVP there but as for right now, we’ve got a huge tag title match in our hands as the champs, London and Kendrick fight the FBI.

Tazz: This is going to be one great match between both of these teams that are compromised of all cruiserweights and I love the cruiserweights

Match #4
WWE Tag Team Championships
Brian Kendrick and Paul London (c’s) vs. The FBI

An exciting cruiserweight tag match for the tag titles showing that the cruiserweights can be believable teams. First off, London and Kendrick catch Guido and Mamaluke off guard by hitting Double Planchas flying over the top ropes! This gets the fans into it immediately as they are behind London and Kendrick. London throws Mamaluke into the ring as he quickly goes to work on one half of the FBI. Mamaluke however is able to counter the attack by tripping London face first into the mat before tagging in Guido. Mamaluke bends London over his knee before Guido leaps over the top rope with a leg drop onto the throat of London. Guido and Mamaluke now go to battle against London, trying to isolate him from Kendrick. Guido and Mamaluke attack London repeatedly trying their best to take out one half of the champs. Mamaluke quickly hits London with a huge dropkick before grabbing him and bringing him back to his feet. However London is able to fight back with some rights before running off the ropes and hitting Mamaluke with a flying fist. This gives London time to quickly jump over and tag in Kendrick! Kendrick quickly jumps into the ring and first thing he does as he leaps over the ropes is hit Mamaluke with an amazing Headscissors! Kendrick runs at Guido who comes running into the ring but he quickly dropkicks Guido back to the outside. Kendrick now runs off the ropes and hits Mamaluke with a flying crossbody but only gets a two count! The fans continue to get behind the fan favorites as Kendrick grabs Mamaluke trying for the Sliced Bread #2 but Guido tries grabbing Kendrick’s foot as he runs up the ropes. However London quickly runs along the aprons and shoves Guido off the turnbuckle onto the barricade! Kendrick is able to connect with Sliced Bread #2 before tagging in London who hits the 450 Splash and gets the win for his team!

Winners and STILL WWE Tag Team Champions: Brian Kendrick and Paul London

We see a video package start playing for SummerSlam, the 19th annual summer bash. The video highlights the superstars of each show, as it’s the Biggest Party of the summer! The video highlights all of the main superstars from Raw and Smackdown, mainly the champions before cutting to a halt. It closes off with “Now that the summer is coming to an end, we’re going out in style” The video speeds up before the video ends with the SummerSlam logo being shown on a beach.

We now head backstage to see Kristal standing by with the United States Champion, Bobby Lashley. Kristal asks Lashley upon his Steel Cage Match about his feud with Kennedy. Lashley reminds Kristal that this feud has been brewing since the night after WrestleMania 22 and that tonight, it comes to a halt! Lashley says that Kennedy had to cheat to win at Judgment Day that but tonight, there won’t be any cheating. Because they are both locked inside of a steel cage with nowhere to go, and nowhere to hide. Lashley says that this will be Kennedy’s last chance ever at him, and that if he wants HIS title, he better beat the hell out of him, because Lashley promises a win tonight.

Michael Cole: And we can tell right now that Bobby Lashley is pumped for the Steel Cage Match tonight and of course, he must have the advantage going in.

Tazz: If I was Kennedy, I’d be scared out of my boots right now.

Michael Cole: Kennedy has tried getting into the mind of Lashley and it worked at Judgment Day but tonight, well that’s a different story.

Tazz: Lashley has only been champion for nearly a month but I don’t see that reign coming to an end tonight, as Lashley is too pumped to lose tonight.

Match #5
United States Championship
Steel Cage Match
Bobby Lashley (c) vs. Mr. Kennedy

A brutal, grueling, and aggressive steel cage match that gets a fair share of time tonight which in return makes the United States title look good and important. It just goes to show you how important this title is for these two men. Very important. Lashley busts Kennedy open halfway through the match after throwing Kennedy into each side of the cage. Kennedy now holds his head in pain as Lashley throws Kennedy into the turnbuckles. Kennedy quickly moves as Lashley charged into the corner but Lashley stops himself. Kennedy then is able to dropkick Lashley into the steel cage back first. Kennedy takes this opportunity to try and escape out the cage but he isn’t able to do so as despite being thrown into the cage, Lashley is able to pull Kennedy off. Lashley has Kennedy in an Electric Chair position. Lashley quickly rams Kennedy back first into the cage before dropping him onto the mat with the Electric Chair Drop! Lashley now makes his way over to the corner, looking to get out of the ring. Lashley makes his way up the cage and gets about halfway up before Kennedy, climbs up the ropes and grabs Lashley by the trunks. Kennedy tries pulling Lashley back down but he isn’t able to as Lashley tries to push him off. However, Kennedy quickly hits Lashley down low causing Lashley to fall down to the mat. Kennedy feeling a little bit tired tries to regain his strength as he is still standing on the ropes. He looks up to the cage, looking to make it out but he realizes Lashley is moving around in the ring constantly. Kennedy has to do something to take out Lashley before trying to win the match. So Kennedy quickly leaps off the top rope looking for the Kenton Bomb but he misses, as Lashley was able to roll away. Lashley looks now at Kennedy down on the mat as Lashley has a hard time pulling himself back up but he is able to. Kennedy is pulling himself up on the ropes in the corner as Lashley quickly charges at Kennedy and hits a huge Spear causing Kennedy to hit the cage back first hard! Lashley now watches as Kennedy falls down in between the ropes and blood is coming from the back of Kennedy. Lashley makes his way over to the cage door but out of nowhere, the cage door is slammed in the face of Lashley! The camera cuts over to reveal it being, FINLAY! Lashley was one step away from making it out of the ring but Finlay has interfered. Finlay’s little troll Hornswoggle has ran down to the ring but is back hiding under the ring again. Security tries pulling back Finlay but he gets into the ring and starts beating Lashley down with the shillelagh repeatedly. Finlay continues beating the hell out of Lashley until the blood starts to trickle from the head of Lashley. Finlay realizes that Kennedy is over in the corner and he decides to go over and help drag Kennedy over to the corner. Finlay drags Lashley over to the opposite corner of the cage away from the door before wielding Lashley with the shillelagh again. Finlay now runs over and pushes Kennedy out the door as Lashley is sitting in the bottom corner of the ring and has just lost his title! Finlay is standing in the ring, strong with his shillelagh having blood on it. Kennedy is a bloody mess on the outside of the ring and the referees are helping him back up, handing him his newly won United States title!

Winner and NEW United States Champion: Mr. Kennedy

Michael Cole: Wow, that is all I can say as we have just witnessed a new champion crowned but why did Finlay attack Lashley is the big question.

Tazz: I really honestly have no clue Cole and I’m hoping something is to come out of it either tonight or hell, maybe this Friday on Smackdown.

Michael Cole: Finlay had no damn business being out here and because he was, he has just cost Lashley his United States title.

Tazz: I don’t think Finlay gives a damn as to what he cost Lashley but whatever his reason was, he got the point across tonight.

We cut backstage after the match to see the Miz catching up to Finlay. Finlay is holding his shillelagh, still with blood on it. Hornswoggle is right behind Finlay. Miz asks Finlay what his reason was for attacking Lashley. Finlay says it’s simple. He heard a rumor backstage that before the PPV, Lashley claimed he was the best fighter on Smackdown. He then says that growing up in the mean streets of Ireland, he was used to beating down boys the size of Lashley. He had a tough life growing up and that’s how it is, and that’s why HE’s the best fighter in the WWE today. Miz says that’s not much of a reason but…Finlay interrupts him. Miz stops him though and asks if he has any alignment with Kennedy. Finlay says he didn’t do this for Kennedy, he did this for himself. He’s out to prove a point, and tonight, he got that point across.

A Video Package plays highlighting the Batista/Undertaker feud that began around February 2006. It shows clips of their WrestleMania match in which Undertaker won. It then shows clips of their more recent stuff happening, before showing Batista bashing ‘Taker in the head with the steel chair back in March. It starts to speed up now and shows highlights of their brawls of the past before ending with sayings from both. Batista says that at the Great American Bash, I’m in my hometown, and I’m not gonna be embarrassed by a Deadman. Undertaker concurs with You Will Rest…In…Peace…as the video ends with a stare down between both men.

Michael Cole: And now is the time, for the WrestleMania rematch that will pit Batista one on one against the Undertaker.

Tazz: And we’ve been waiting all night and hell, four months for the rematch but tonight, something must come to an end.

Match #6
WrestleMania Rematch
Batista vs. The Undertaker

This turns out to be a long, drawn out match like their encounter at WrestleMania was. It turns out to be slow and boring at times but most of the time, it gets very exciting. Batista is able to take down ‘Taker early on in the match by throwing his arm against the turnbuckle pole. This means ‘Taker is going to have a hard time attempting Old School and the Chokeslam plus a few other moves. Batista goes to work now trying to hurt the ribs of ‘Taker, which he did to Rey Mysterio the week before Judgment Day. Batista isn’t letting back as he charges into the corner and hits a huge Spear into the ribs. ‘Taker is coughing in the corner as Batista quickly picks him back up and hits him with a Press Slam, showing off his power. The fans, despite Batista being in his hometown, let out boos, showing their support for the Undertaker. Batista quickly grabs ‘Taker bringing him into the middle of the ring before trying to throw him against the ropes. Batista charges at the Deadman but Undertaker ducks underneath the arm of Batista, comes running right back and hits “The Animal” with a huge Running DDT! Batista’s head hits the mat hard as both men are down and the referee begins a ten count. The referee is warning to count out both men but all of a sudden, Taker sits up at seven. Undertaker quickly grabs Batista before throwing him into the corner. Undertaker quickly hits Batista with Snake Eyes before running off the ropes and hitting him with a huge Big Boot! Batista falls down in the corner now but Undertaker quickly walks over and pulls the Animal back up. Undertaker starts throwing wild punches at Batista as the referee tries to pull ‘Taker off Batista but ‘Taker pushes the ref off. This gives Batista time as Undertaker turns right back around but Batista quickly catapults ‘Taker high into the air causing ‘Taker to hit the turnbuckle face first! Batista now heads over to the corner, looking to tease ‘Taker. Batista now charges into the corner, looking for the Spear but ‘Taker moves and Batista hits the turnbuckle hard with his shoulder! ‘Taker now backs out of the corner looking for a quick breather and as he does, he lifts Batista into the air for the Chokeslam! Undertaker almost gets Batista down but Batista elbows his way out of the move. Batista is now back on his feet, still holding his shoulder but as Undertaker turns around, Batista tries for a clothesline onto ‘Taker but he misses and ‘Taker catches Batista once again. He tries this time for another chokeslam but before he can lift him up, Batista catches ‘Taker with a huge right to the head. Batista now grabs ‘Taker and hits him with a huge Spinebuster but only gets a two count! The fans roar in approval of Batista not winning. He lifts ‘Taker back onto his feet, looking for the Batista Bomb but ‘Taker is able to elbow his way out too. Undertaker sends Batista flying into the ropes, but Batista ducks a clothesline from the Deadman. Batista now charges at ‘Taker and this time hits him with a huge Spear! Batista falls down onto the mat, with very little energy right now to cover and as he crawls over to the ropes, he pulls himself back up. Batista now grabs Undertaker, looking for the Batista Bomb but before he can, Undertaker pushes Batista to the outside of the ring. Batista quickly grabs a chair from underneath the ring and Undertaker is on the other side, back turned taking a quick breather. The referee tries to warn Batista he will be DQ’d but he simply ignores the ref and as Undertaker walks over to the ropes, Batista, from the outside of the ring swings the chair and connects knocking down Undertaker to the mat.

Winner via DQ: The Undertaker

The fans boo Batista as he climbs into the ring, with the steel chair hand. He stares down at Undertaker. Batista has a blank stare in his eyes as the crowd is yelling “Batista Sucks” and etc. chants of that nature. Cole and Tazz are yelling at ringside that Batista is psychotic and that he had to get DQ’d because he couldn’t win otherwise.

The camera cuts backstage afterwards to see Angle lacing up his boots and making his way to the arena for the main event.

Shortly after this, we head backstage to see JBL. JBL is standing in front of the screen backstage where interviews are done. He tells Angle that it’s going to be his night. JBL says that when he won the Money in the Bank way back in April at WrestleMania, he knew he was destined to cash it in at the Great American Bash. JBL says not only that but tonight, he’s here also to prove that he truly is the great American out of both of them. JBL mentions that he doesn’t care what Angle has done in his career because after tonight, it won’t matter. JBL is going to reduce Angle to a laughingstock when it’s all said and done. He finally mentions that tonight there is no more playing games, tonight is the real deal. JBL says that tonight is where dreams are made, and where the true wrestling god is revealed. And JBL promises it will be him walking out with those three goals accomplished.

The video package for the main event, Angle versus JBL plays highlight the feud. It first starts out with clips of JBL capturing the MITB back at WrestleMania 22. Shortly after shows Angle making his Smackdown! debut. After that, clips of Angle winning the Six Pack Challenge at Judgment Day to capture the title are shown. Now clips of Angle and JBL in the Great American Challenge where Angle fought Henry and JBL fought Hardcore Holly. JBL won and got the right to pick an opponent for Angle at Saturday Night’s Main Event. That being Mark Henry. Finally, the clips show JBL’s Great American Celebration where Angle interfered and it ends with Angle holding the title up mocking JBL, as JBL looks on pissed.

Match #7
World-Heavyweight Championship
Great American Challenge
Kurt Angle (c) vs. JBL

A great main event that gets good time between both men. It starts out as kind of a chain-wrestling match, which is strange for JBL. In a move similar to the real match at GAB ’06 between Finlay and Regal, JBL and Angle lock up in the middle of the ring and carry the hold to the outside. Both men are trying to jockey for position, and they both can’t get that advantage. Still holding onto one another, both men make their way up the steps before JBL drops Angle on his throat right there before rolling back into the ring. Angle is grabbing his throat now before JBL grabs Angle and Suplexes him over the top rope. JBL hesitates no time quickly covering Angle but the referee signals it was only a two count. JBL doesn’t look too pleased now as the match has been going on for a decent amount of time and he needs every advantage he can get. JBL now rolls right back onto his feet before walking over and pulling Angle back up to his feet. JBL sends Angle flying into the ropes but Angle quickly ducks underneath a clothesline from JBL and as JBL comes running right back, Angle catches with him a Gutwrench Suplex. Angle quickly goes for the cover but he only gets a two count as well. Angle now pulls JBL back up backing the challenger into the corner. Angle rares back to hit JBL with a straight chop. But JBL quickly pokes Angle in the eye. The referee warns JBL and tells him he saw that but JBL shows no concern. This gives time for JBL to quickly run over and hit a Swinging Neckbreaker. The fans are booing JBL, as that could be another chance for him to get closer and closer to winning his second title. JBL doesn’t cover this time but simply instead goes and pulls the champion back to his feet. JBL sends Angle flying right into the corner. JBL quickly comes charging at Angle, looking to hit him with a Big Boot in the corner but Angle moves and JBL misses. JBL stops himself from hitting the turnbuckle but he walks right back into some hard rights from Angle. As JBL turns around, Angle lifts JBL into the air, looking for an Angle Slam but he is able to slide off the shoulders to the outside of the ring. JBL takes a quick breather knowing that could have been it for him right there. JBL now slides back into the ring and goes to hook back up with Angle but Angle quickly grabs JBL from behind and pushes him onto the mat. Angle plays with JBL slapping him on the back of the head as JBL fights it off. Angle now gets back to his feet as he sends JBL flying into the ropes. JBL runs back at Angle as Angle quickly catches JBL with a huge European Uppercut. Angle now grabs JBL lifting the bigger man into the air, hitting the first of the three German Suplexes! The fans are going wild now as he holds on and hits the second of the three Germans. The fans continue to yell in support of the champ as he holds the hands tight for the third and final time, releasing on the third one, sending JBL flying across the ring. Angle starts to pull off the straps but all of a sudden, Somebodies Gonna Get It hits! Yes, Mark Henry’s theme hits! Henry comes walking down the ramp. Angle turns around and is wondering why in the hell Henry is out here. Henry slides into the ring and runs at Angle but Angle quickly catches him with a huge Headbutt sending the giant reeling as Henry bounces off the ropes. But as Henry comes back, he knocks Angle down, nearly decapitating him with a huge clothesline! The fans are booing this as the ref is confused, calling for security to run down to take Henry away. Henry however isn’t done with Angle as he runs off the ropes and hits the World’s Strongest Splash! The fans are booing the hell out of Henry as he walks out of the ring and to the back as security escorts him out. JBL crawls over and throws an arm over Angle and the ref has no choice but to count it. One…Two…THRE!!! NO!!!! JBL looks on in shock as the fans let out huge cheers of joy knowing that Angle could have lost the title there but he kicked out. JBL pulls himself back to his feet, looking to take advantage as he pulls Angle back to his feet. JBL runs off the ropes looking for the Clothesline from Hell but Angle was able to duck. JBL runs back at Angle who catches JBL and lifts him into the air for the Angle Slam! Angle falls on top of JBL somehow and the cover. One…Two…Three! The fans are going wild as Angle has retained just like that and JBL wasn’t successfully able to cash in Money in the Bank.

Winner and STILL World-Heavyweight Champion: Kurt Angle

The ref hands Angle his World title as we see JBL roll to the outside, disappointed that he lost! He can’t believe that all the hard work he put into winning MITB didn’t pay out for nothing. JBL heads backstage now but before he does, Mark Henry makes his way back out! Apparently he broke free of security! Henry comes running down the ramp as JBL goes back into the ring with him. Henry looks at Angle, still down on the mat clutching his title as Henry runs back off the ropes and hits another World’s Strongest Splash! The fans can’t believe it as Angle is coughing in the ring hard. JBL gets Henry to lift Angle back up as JBL runs off the ropes and hits the Clothesline from Hell! The fans are booing, as apparently, JBL and Henry will continue their little “alliance” deal. Henry and JBL both lift their hands into the air, celebrating their “dominance” over Angle tonight despite Angle retaining. Henry watches as JBL turns around and as he turns around, JBL walks right into a World’s Strongest Slam! The fans watch in amazement as Henry just betrayed JBL too. Henry shows that he’s not aligning himself with anybody out there.

Michael Cole: Wow, what we have just seen. Henry betrayed JBL after taking out Angle, and now he took out JBL!

Tazz: This just goes to show you that Mark Henry is a force to be reckoned with and if I was in the Smackdown locker room, I’d know not to mess with this man.

Michael Cole: Henry has just sent a message that he is coming for the World title and that nobody, and I mean nobody can stop him.

Tazz: Well it’s been a wild night Cole. One title change, a huge impact made by Mark Henry, and much more.

Michael Cole: I have to agree Tazz. And we all wish you a good night, and tune in this Friday night for Friday Night Smackdown as the road to SummerSlam officially begins!
