Friday Night Smackdown
February 17, 2006
Reno, Nevada

The show opens up with the World-Heavyweight Champion, Edge, making his way down the ramp to the ring to start the night off. Edge tells us that his championship reign has been looked on as a fluke and that he had to cheat to win the title off of Batista back at the Royal Rumble when he ended up using his Money in the Bank Contract. Edge tells us that at No Way Out, Batista stands no chance at getting the title back but then Batista interrupts. Batista then says that he has the perfect opponent in mind for Edge tonight and that Edge knows him real well. Batista then says that Edge will be going one one one with....Matt Hardy two nights before No Way Out and Edge looks shocked! Edge starts to panic and walk around the ring not knowing what to do about later tonight's match.

The opening match turns out to be Johnny Nitro representing MNM as he is taking on Paul London two days before their Tornado Tag Elimination Match at No Way Out. London does the high flying in this match as normal while Nitro slows it down a little. Both men pull out all the stops during the match trying to impress the crowd and they do. The ending for the match takes place whenever Melina has the referee distracted and Mercury slides Nitro the title belt. Nitro grabs the title and charges at London who nails him and Nitro slides the title to the outside to Mercury. Nitro then calls the ref over and he makes the count, One...Two...Thre...Kendrick breaks it up! London then rolls through on Nitro, One...Two...Three!!! and London gets the win tonight heading into No Way Out

Backstage, we see JBL and Jillian Hall talking about this Sunday at No Way Out whenever JBL meets Lashley one on one. JBL says that Lashley is a Wrestling Fraud while himself is indeed a Wrestling God! Jillian agrees and says that she has gotten Theodore Long to agree to a match tonight for Lashley and that JBL will be at ringside watching it. It will be Lashley facing his biggest test to date yet as he goes one on one with "The World's Strongest Man" Mark Henry!

Back from the commercial and Ken Kennedy is in the ring for one on one action as he takes on Funaki tonight on Smackdown. Kennedy demolishes Funaki during this match and then finishes him off with ease with the Green Bay Plunge before getting the three count. Kennedy then gets his mic and taunts the crowd before saying he doesn't have a match at No Way Out. Kennedy then issues a Open Challenge to anybody backstage that thinks he can beat Mr. Kennedy and that they will face each other at No Way Out, Kennedy then does his normal mic taunt and then leaves

In an interview backstage, Booker T and Randy Orton are talking about their brilliant plan that they both have had for the past few weeks. Orton says that at No Way Out, Benoit is going to be paying for what he has done to Booker T for the last few weeks. Booker then tells Mysterio that tonight, he is going to ware down Mysterio even before No Way Out and that will give him a even better chance to walk home with the United States Championship back around his waist. Booker and Orton smile and then head back to their lockerroom talking about later tonight

We then see Christian talking backstage with his "Problem Solver" Tyson Tomko about his match later tonight against Undertaker. Christian wants Tomko to take Undertaker out early even before No Way Out so his chances for winning the match are even better. Christian then tells Tomko that after he helps him win this Sunday, Tomko is going to go back to the dumps as he calls it, Raw! Christian then smiles as Tomko doesn't look too happy and Christian then continues on talking with Tomko about their matches both tonight and Sunday

Back from the break and The Mexicools are taking on William Regal and Paul Burchill tonight with Juventud at ringside for the Mexicools along with Finlay for the UKliq. A good match with the Mexicools bringing the fast paced action to the ring and Regal and Burchill using more submission moves than anything during the match. The ending for the match happens whenever Psicosis gets pulled off the ropes by Finlay after Finlay clotheslined down Juventud. Psicosis gets stuck in the apron while Finlay clubs him and Regal is down with Super Crazy coming off the ropes for a Moonsault but he misses as Regal rolls away. Burchill then comes into the ring and nails the C4 amazingly grabbing Regal's hand and placing it over the fallen Super Crazy for the three count

Backstage, Kid Kash is looking for Jamie Noble wanting to talk to him about something. Kash then comes along the Cruiserweight's Champion's door and then stands there breathing heavily before knocking and Noble tells Kash to come in. Kash then apologizes once more about last week when he cost them the shot at the tag titles. Kash then continues on and Noble realizes what Kash wants. Noble then says that he knows Kash wants a shot at the Cruiserweight Championship and well, that he can get a shot at the title this Sunday at No Way Out! Kash smiles knowing that this could be his shot at getting back on top of the wrestling world and Kash walks off smiling

Lashley takes on Mark Henry next and JBL is at ringside during the match on commentary. JBL is rambling on about Lashley and how he is going to beat his ass come Sunday. Lashley has trouble during the match facing the much bigger and stronger Mark Henry during the match. The ending happens whenever Henry tosses Lashley onto the mat and comes off the ropes going for a Big Splash but Lashley rolls away. Lashley then gets back up and so does Henry whom Lashley amazingly picks up with some trouble but nails a modified version of the Dominator for the three count and JBL looks worried heading into No Way Out. Lashley comes over and looks at JBL who starts backing up the ramp with Jillian not wanting anything to do with Lashley tonight

The Bret Hart 2006 Hall of Fame video plays once more with it then announcing afterwards that this Sunday at No Way Out, a new inductee will be announced into the Class of 2006 Hall of Fame joining Bret Hart. Cole and Tazz then rundown the card for No Way Out but mainly focusing on the bigger matches such as Christian/Undertaker in a #1 Contender's Match, Randy Orton vs Chris Benoit, United States Championship and the main event, Edge defends his newly won World-Heavyweight Championship against the man he took it from, Batista! Afterwards, Tazz and Cole then say that the second inductee of the 2006 Hall of Fame will be announced at No Way Out!

Backstage UKliq are all talking to the GM, Theodore Long. Finlay says that they need a match this Sunday and they want The Mexicools! Long starts to think about it but then Finlay says that he better make this match happen because he wants a fight. Long then agrees and says at No Way Out, it will be The Mexicools taking on the UKliq. Finlay looks real happy and so does Regal and Burchill, they all walk off before we head out to a commercial

Back from the commercial and "The Problem Solver" Tyson Tomko is going one on one with Undertaker two nights before the huge #1 Contender's Match. 'Taker uses his power advantage over Tomko during the match and wares him down. Towards the end, Tomko goes for a Big Boot onto Undertaker trying to finish him off but to no avail. Undertaker then charges in the corner and nails a clothesline onto the fallen Tomko. Christian then gets onto the apron trying to distract the Undertaker. Tomko nails a low blow then comes at 'Taker once more for a Big Boot but this time 'Taker ducks and Tomko ends up nailing Christian sending him to the outside. Tomko then turns right around into the arms of Undertaker whom nails the Tombstone, One...Two...Three and 'Taker gets the win

Josh Matthews interviews Rey Mysterio, the United States Champion, about his tag team match tonight but focuses on the United States title match at No Way Out. Mysterio says that he will not back down from Booker T and he certainly won't let Booker take his title. Mysterio then says that since he is indeed a fighting champion, he will put the title on the line whenever somebody wants to face him and Matthews then asks Mysterio about how Orton and Booker have been targeting Benoit recently, will Mysterio be next? Mysterio says that he can get put into 2 on 1 situations because he has been his whole life, but in the end he will overcome them

The tag match is very fast paced with Mysterio and Benoit picking the speed up against Orton and Booker T during the entire match. Orton goes for an RKO towards the end onto Benoit whom blocks it and then tries to lock in the Crippler Crossface but Orton gets out and tags Booker T. Booker comes in and goes for a clothesline but Benoit ducks, nails some chops, and then goes for the German Suplexes which he nails in succesion. Benoit then taunts the end is coming near whenever Mysterio blind tags Benoit from behind to his shock. Mysterio leaps off the ropes for the West Coast Pop but Booker rolls away and rolls through on Mysterio with Orton holding the leg down on the outside, One...Two...Three and Booker has pinned the United States Champion once again!

In the main event, the World-Heavyweight Champion, Edge, goes one on one with Matt Hardy in a non title match between these two fierce rivals. A brawl throughout the whole entire match, Hardy and Edge do anything to wear each other down. In the end though, Hardy does the Twist of Fate onto Edge and only gets a two count. Hardy then leaps onto the ropes and comes off for a Leg Drop but Edge rolls away and Hardy hits the mat hard. Edge then sets up in the corner and he charges across the ring nailing Hardy with the Spear, One...Two...Three and Edge is rolling high into No Way Out. Batista charges the ring afterwards and a big brawl ensues between both men with the camera fading off

Nice opening promo to the show. A nice announcement for tonight's main event.

London gets a good win over Nitro for the opening match before their match at No Way Out.

Won't be the best match of the night ,but its well booked for Henry vs Lashley.

A decent match for Kennedy to get a win over Smackdown's #2 announcer. Can't wait to see who Kennedy's oppenent is.

Good win for Undertaker before he takes on Christian.

A huge win for Ukliq over The Mexicools. I have the same feud going on in my BtB except its two-on-two.

Good promo for Rey Mysterio before taking on Booker T tonight and NWO.

A good win to get Lashley over by beating a much larger oppenent.

A huge win for Booker T once again over the US Champ.

Nice way to end the show with Edge picking up the victory before this Sunday.

Nice to see Edge start the show off, giving his match with Batista a bit more build. Edge vs. Matt Hardy tonight will be a good main event, although Edge will win I think. He gets the win like I though he would, and then Batista comes out afterwards. Will be a solid main event, although I don’t see Edge dropping the belt yet. Good win for London, and they have the momentum going into NWO, but I think that MNM will hold the belts for a little bit longer, maybe till Mania. Good win for Kennedy, and I guess he will win the open challenge at the ppv, which I guess is there to give him another ppv win. Lashley gets the win over Henry with ease, which emphasises how powerful he is. Will be a tough match for JBL, but hopefully he can have enough to pull out a win. Perhaps Tomko is coming to s/down on a permanent basis. Would be good to see, even though he lost to Taker as expected. Taker/CC will be a good match, but I don’t know who will take the win as of yet. UKLIQ/Mexicools will be a nice addition to the card, and I guess it will be used to springboard UKLIQ a bit further. Kash/Noble will be a good cruiserweight match although I see a rematch at mania, and the US title angle progressed a bit further. I think Rey will take the win as he has lost a lot as of yet, and I guess Orton will beat benoit, but I don’t see a mania opponent for him as of yet

Yes to your question. No Way Out will indeed be a full pay per view and hopefully it can help on the road to WrestleMania 22!

The Rumble was awsome. Let's hope NWO can top that and it's not easy topping a Rumble.
