Default Re: WWE 2007: Unleash the Fury

Not sure if I will get enough time to do a review for Smackdown before you post SS, so just in case, here's my predics for Summerslam

WWE Championship - Student vs. Teacher
Batista (c) vs. Triple H
It's been building to this point. If not this month, it'll be next. Batista is set to pay for his attack on Shane methinks, and he'll not need the title for that feud. Whether Shane shows at this show or not doesnt matter - Trips wins the belt

Hell in a Cell - First HIAC in 19 Months
Randy Orton vs. Chris Jericho
Orton seems like a better winner for this one. The momentum for his character seems to be greater than that for Jericho, and he should wrap up this feud with the win inside the Cell.

World-Heavyweight Championship
MVP (c) vs. Edge
A DQ loss for MVP wouldnt surprise me. He cant lose the belt so soon, he needs at least 5 or 6 months with the belt to be deemed a worthy main eventer, so a loss to Edge here wouldnt kill his push.

Grudge Match - Former Friend vs. Friend
Shawn Michaels vs. Ric Flair
Flair has just turned heel, and needs to get some credibility back. A cheap win over HBK allows for a rematch down the road, and that's what I think we'll get here. The feud is only kicking off, so we need a heel win early on.

Brand Supremacy Match - Losing Brand's GM Is Fired!
Matt Hardy vs. Jeff Hardy
Matt wins, and JBL is forced to get back in the ring. He has a ready made feud waiting for him with Jeff, so it all makes sense to me.

Special Challenge Match
Mr. Kennedy vs. The Undertaker
If he wins this, you've got a new top tier superstar. No one (to my knowledge) has ever beaten Cena and Taker in back to back PPV events. THAT could be his equivalent to Jericho talking about beating The Rock and Austin on the same night, or to a lesser extent Christian beating Taker 4 months in a row in my thread. Hoping this is what happens, but y'never know.

Grudge Tag Team Match
Christian and Big Show vs. Finlay and Umaga
I actually dont care. This match reeks of a Smackdown main event, and seems to be here to get four more guys on the card. Could've done with out it.

Women's Championship
Mickie James (c) vs. Beth Phoenix
I'd actually like to see this, but I think Mickie wins. If Beth could go over, it'd be terrific, and would allow the feud to continue for longer as they trade the belt again, just a month after Mickie won it.

Intercontinental Championship - Fatal 4 Way
Brent Albright (c) vs. Carlito vs. Paul London vs. Charlie Haas
No idea. Just hedging my belts on the champion retaining against the odds. Any one of these four could win the belt.

PLUS - RVD Chooses his new brand!
Both rosters seem stacked, so it's hard to see where he fits in on either.

Smackdown Feedback

JBL’s opening promo was quite nice the mentioning of pushing Jeff Hardy to the extreme just makes me feel that perhaps some kind of heel turn is going to happen and you are going to go with Jeff as the heel. If you did this I would love you as it rarely/never gets done. Anyway the handicap match should be quite brutal and well its happening now. Nice opening to the show nothing to special but nothing bad either.

Jeff Hardy getting the win over JBL and Finlay was kind of depressing I just don’t feel even though he is the GM that JBL and a quality wrestler in Finlay should be put down this bad. Anyway I guess you want some more momentum for Hardy and Summerslam and Matt Hardy attacking was not what I wanted to see. Don’t get me wrong I wanted to see some aggression and I am glad we got that no more of this lovey dovey shit but I would have preferred if you tried to make Jeff heel for once. Also heel turn feels kind of pointless doing it one show before SS unless there feud is going to some how continue.

Big Show promo I thought was just a boring filler at one stage but once Umaga got involved it instantly became something I liked. Ok maybe I am a little bit biased but who cares Anyway coughing up blood from the thumb of death was a nice touch and it shall be interesting to see exactly what happens at Summerslam.

Jesse and Festus as tag champs is jobber worthy something seriously needs to change with that. Miz and Morrison would be the perfect tag champs so I expect it to happen sooner rather than later. Oh yeah Masters > Kofi in my opinion. I don’t know why but I always liked Masters.

Prototype huh? Hmmm interesting

Matt Hardy as the selfish bastard ay? I like LOL I will mark like a little girl if you bring back Mattitude.

This promo between Michaels and Flair would have been brilliant seriously I would have loved it. Flair pretty much ripped into HBK and no reply from the Showstopper makes me think Michaels may be a bit depressed or confused come Summerslam. I hope not I think these two can go at it and have a great match without anything else helping them get drama into there match.

Gregory Helms is just a smart ass but I love it and I think he will win the Cruiserweight Title and when he does this storyline will really go for all its worth.

JBL is stupid really giving away a title shot like this. I think Christian will somehow get the win over Finlay and then will be the next man to challenge MVP. Since Christian and MVP already interacted the other week they will already have chemistry.

Umaga over Eugene just to show how much of a monster he is.

The IC Title interviews were all good I especially liked Haas’ there doesn’t have to be any talking line it just kind of made me LOL because of how much he sucks out of the ring. Albright OWNS and shall retain. As for Lito and London I am not sure one of them will probably have a crack at Albright in the next few months.

Jamie Noble’s cell phone situation is interesting me.

Oh please Edge ain’t winning the title back…. Right?

Awesome main event to get Edge some momentum however I truly believe it is all for nothing you can’t make MVP lose that quickly. Big Jackson is a freak in this thread though I really love him. Anyway nice way to cap off the show.

Overall an okay show to head into Summerslam PPV must be huge as the thread has not been at its best lately. Good luck.

Backstage SummerSlam News, Notes, and Rumors

It has been said that WWE is looking very forward to tonight's Pay-Per-View as it's going to be a blowoff for many feuds but also ignite and continue on many other feuds. It is being looked at that a few of the top feuds will continue on but that a few of the bigger ones will also end. Creative is looking very forward to seeing where it heads next month as Unforgiven is nearly here.

It has been all but decided that the Intercontinental title will be the kickoff match for SummerSlam. WWE feels that putting the ball into the hands of the young superstars is the right decision.

Rob Van Dam arrived backstage rather early today to go over his promo tonight that will see him choose what brand he will be wrestling on starting soon. RVD has been off WWE TV ever since he was barred from ECW but thanks to ECW disbanding, he has become a free agent. For weeks WWE has played off Van Dam being a free agent as they felt that this would work out well and gather some interest and more buys for SummerSlam.

All eyes are on the Hell in a Cell tonight as the structure has been set up in the arena. WWE hasn't pulled out the structure since January 2006 whenever Kurt Angle defended his WWE title against John Cena at the Royal Rumble. WWE is looking forward to seeing how Jericho and Orton perform in the 14th ever Hell in a Cell Match.

Matt Hardy's heel turn dates back all the way to SummerSlam last year. Hardy was having problems with Rey Mysterio last year but WWE didn't pull the trigger on a possible heel turn. It's going to be interesting to see how WWE handles Hardy on Raw as he might not be a heel for too long. WWE is looking at him as more of a tweener right now but will test the waters and see how it works out.

Edge has worked with MVP on their match a lot as MVP will be headlining his first ever PPV tonight. Whether or not MVP pulls out a big performance tonight could depend on how long he is in the main event scene.

The Fatal 4 Way Match will be rather interesting as it's been difficult for creative to decide who they want to win. They feel that all four are ready to carry one of the prestigious titles after the build that has been given to them recently. It will be interesting to see who is handed the title after the bell rings.

The HBK and Flair match will be rather interesting to see as well as not much time recently has been given to them in the ring. It's mainly been a war of words but the match tonight will look to bring the feud possibly in a different direction but not in an entire way. It will add a twist to it if anything.

The Women's title is another situation that has not yet as of now been decided on. The winner hasn't been determined yet and could not be determined possibly until the match even goes on air!

Finally WWE seems to have a plan as to where they are heading with the WWE title situation soon. It seems WWE is confident with their plans and it seems that WWE finally are looking to head towards their goal of where they are trying to get with their creative plans.

And on one last note, Mr. McMahon is backstage but WILL NOT appear in any form as he will be selling the attack angle that he suffered this past Monday on Raw. Shane McMahon is backstage as well and also will not appear as he will sell the angle. It is possible that Stephanie will appear in place of her father and brother during the Brand Supremacy Match.

Okay I was going to post a preview but didn't get around to it due to work, baseball, etc. So I just threw up some news and notes plus a special flashback to SummerSlam 2006 in my thread. It has just the results of the PPV. Something different I thought that would be a neat little factoid. But look for SummerSlam tomorrow should all things go right!

Default Re: WWE 2007: Unleash the Fury

Looking back at the last Summerslam, it was quite epic and this one, while still looking solid, has got alot to do to surpass the previous edition. Marks for abreviating the Intercontinental Title, as it then makes it the IC Title, tbh.

You released Booker T didn't you? Shame on you.

Notes and such were interesting, although I'd be keen for old yella to fuck off soon, it's quite brilliant people have no problem still using a guy with a moveset that makes John Cena look like a wrestling God, and who's older than black and white TV, yet using Rock & Austin is a no no

All in all, looking forward to the PPV Kop, hope it delivers something

Oh and don't you just LOVE our banner?
