Smackdown Feedback

JBL has got the tape, what an awesome way to kick off the show.

The saga of everyone hating Helms continues and I think it is going to end with a big cruiserweight open of some sort. Good start to the show though nothing to criticize yet

Backstage interview with Hardy was a smart decision it gives us some info in to what Jeff Hardy is thinking and well he seems to just be looking forward to the contest. I personally hope you heat up this feud though and get some heat between the two instead of them just loving each other.

The Peep Show and well anytime you get Christian on the microphone is awesomeness. Him along with Show ;nagging’ about title shots is dare I say it a bit heelish and I would have expected them to slag JBL instead of bitching and moaning. JBL comes out and the tag match for Summerslam seems okay and I don’t have a clue who the returning star is. My only worry is that Show could make the match stink a little.

I am quite the fan of Kingston and Masters so I am pretty glad to see you bringing them in however having two debutants against each other would have no crowd reaction and I would have much preferred for this to be a dark match before the show or something.

Shawn Michaels thinking it is JBL means it definitely was not JBL who attacked him. I can not wait to see who it is, the anticipation is building.

No one can stop Haas ey? Well I tell you one thing I pray that Albright or Carlito stop him or else me and you will have serious issues… Well not to serious because I like Haas its just I favor the other two much more. Fuck London though

Did I ever tell you that Jesse and Festus as tag champs is kind of lame. I am sorry but the gimmick they have is terrible and stale and tiring and Morrison better be taking the gold off of them shortly.

HBK was attacked by RIC FLAIR. Geez talk about a shocker… Never expected this, I guess this sets up a match against the two for Summerslam and KOP this PPV is going to be epic, the card already just has that feel to it.

Very nice main event, MVP and Edge not even on the show until the main event was a bit of a let down but oh well, I guess you need to push your mid card and shizz. Edge picking up the win over Finlay is smart on all accounts (champion not being defeated, challenger keeping momentum) However I liked MVP getting the last laugh due to Big Zeek.

Hey KOP nice recap and the thread is getting on a roll heading into what is looking to be a EPIC Summerslam. Keep it up bruv.

Default Re: WWE 2007: UTF - The Inevitable Return

Sorry it took so long to get around to you, been lazy this week.

So, we’re off with a bang. JBL gets the tape he’s been waiting for, and it looks like Michaels attacker WILL be revealed this evening. Big time news … but this would’ve been better to have been built up from last week and added some intrigue to the big reveal.

Helms continues his war on the Cruiserweight division in what is coming across as a really interesting angle. But has Helms explained what his problem is with the cruiserweights or is he just looking to eliminate all his competitors??

Well, Jeff sure is fired up for SummerSlam. No worries on his part if the match is going ahead, he definitely wants it. Should be epic, and I expect some sort of twist in the coming weeks as there just seems to be something lined up to throw this one over the edge.

Seems a bit of an odd SummerSlam match, and frankly, looks really out of place on a loaded card. Just looks like a match to get some upper midcarders / main eventers on the show, as this one seemed to get announced with no prior build up. Only thing interesting for me here is that someone is coming back to Smackdown. Direction for Christian please .

Kingston over Masters in the battle of the debutants. One of them isn’t going to survive the cull imo. Too many mid carders on the show for both to be able to stick around.

So, Michaels seems convinced that it was JBL behind his attack last month. I guess with Layfields relief at the finding of the video, he’s not the culprit.

Best of the mid card get to go at SummerSlam, and I cannot wait to see how that one turns out. Loving the Paul London push, and even despite the loss tonight, I can see him becoming Intercontinental Champion somewhere down the road - but probably not at SummerSlam. Glad to see the best athletes on the show all battling out for the I.C Title, reminds me of the glory days in 2000.

Bit of a nothing segment between Morrison and the tag champs. I guess we’ll either be seeing the reintroduction of Mercury or Miz to join him for a by the numbers tag feud. Probably the best place for Morrison at this point, as the mid card scene is extremely crowded for him to get a proper look in.

Wow. Ric Flair, huh?? That was certainly a surprise, and a heck of a reveal. Despite the reveal hitting the target, you still need to hit a home run with Flairs explanation next week or you’ll suck the life out of this feud. The explanation needs to hit the mark for the feud to succeed and get over properly imo. If it’s by the numbers Ric Flair - ‘I want one more run, and need to be the dirtiest player in the game’, I’ll be disappointed. I want a big reason - one that’ll make me go ‘Oh fuck’ in a good way. Make it happen KOP, make it happen!!

Loving MVP as the champ. I’m certain you’re the first to go there, and it’s refreshing to see a new face in the main events. Jackson as his bodyguard is the perfect fit, and I hope we see Porter as champion for a long run. Hardy with the win here to add some momentum towards SummerSlam, but the big story and final moments go with Edge and MVP, and a strong finish to the show, with Porter making the most of his big bodyguard. How will Edge overcome that disadvantage?? He wont

WWE Monday Night Raw - July 30, 2007
Tucson Arena - Tucson, Arizona

Triple H def. William Regal; WWE Champion Batista watches on at ringside

In preparation for the big “Student vs. Teacher” WWE Championship Match at SummerSlam in less than a month, Triple H was thrown into a match with one of Raw’s newest superstars in William Regal who came over from ECW after the brand folded. Regal gave Triple H a good fight during the match but it was Triple H that came out victorious in the end after hitting the Pedigree and covering Regal for the victory. Triple H and Batista had a brief stare down afterwards with both men exchanging words after Batista’s comments earlier in the night during an interview. Batista was quoted as saying that “he will expose his former mentor at SummerSlam and show just why Hunter can’t win another major championship” Batista also reminded Hunter of his comments that “he WAS Evolution” back when it was together. Triple H seemed to laugh off these comments apparently as it brought him victory here tonight on Raw.

Chris Jericho and Kane def. Randy Orton and Mark Henry, Orton gets last laugh

Despite Jericho and Kane getting the victory thanks to a big Chokeslam from Kane to Mark Henry, it was Randy Orton that got the last laugh after he punted his opponent in the Hell in a Cell at SummerSlam in the head! Orton got down onto the mat as Jericho was attended to and you could hear Orton whispering rather sadistically into the ear of Jericho the words “Now is the time Jericho…now is the time” Orton has been sending these rather creepy messages to Jericho over the past few months ever since Jericho won the WWE championship at WrestleMania! Orton’s seemed to have found a new “strange” side that just might make him “feel at home” as he said last week on Raw in the Hell in a Cell match.

The Undertaker def. Paul Burchill, Mr. Kennedy presents a formal challenge to ‘Taker

In a match that was supposed to occur at The Great American Bash, The Undertaker fought off the “Ripper” Paul Burchill and got the victory via Tombstone Piledriver. It didn’t take long for the arrogant Mr. Kennedy to come out and remind the fans the roll he’s been on recently. Kennedy quickly reminded fans of his big victory over Cena at the ‘Bash but quickly showed us video of last week where he presented himself as the man that “supposedly attacked” The Undertaker in the parking lot a few months ago. Nobody is sure as Paul Burchill had made the claim it was him but it seems ‘Taker put Burchill to rest. Mr. Kennedy did not hesitate to challenge ‘Taker to a match at SummerSlam as Kennedy stated that “he needs to put closure” to the fact that he’s only on the brink of being the next WWE Champion! One more big win and he’s finally there! Undertaker accepted the challenge not backing down as he of course said that Kennedy’s “days are numbered”

Santino Marella talks to numerous superstars backstage, seems to be down on himself

After last week’s loss to United States Champion Matt Hardy, Santino Marella stumbled around backstage stating that he’s lost two in a row and that he’s lost all hope. Many superstars tried to cheer one of Raw’s newer superstars up including the divas! Santino walked off though saying that he’s got to get a victory and it’ll make all things better! Can Santino pull out a victory in his next match on Raw?

Kenny Dykstra w/ Kelly Kelly def. Hardcore Holly; Cryme Tyme make Dykstra “pay” up

Raw’s newest couple Kenny Dykstra and Kelly Kelly both made their way into the ring tonight as Kelly Kelly helped her boyfriend Dykstra pull out a victory over the hard nosed veteran Hardcore Holly. Holly was clearly pissed after the match due to Kelly Kelly tripping him up and helping Dykstra get the victory. Dykstra made his way up the ramp but Cryme Tyme who made some comments about Kelly Kelly last week in their “welcome” to Raw for the couple met Dykstra and Kelly Kelly at the top of the ramp! Cryme Tyme chased Dykstra down towards the ring as Dykstra slid in and got a beating from Holly! The fans enjoyed every second of it as Cryme Tyme held Kelly Kelly back as she had to look on at her boyfriend getting a beating!

John Cena interviewed on Raw, announces his estimated return date

John Cena who was injured by Mr. Kennedy in the First Blood Match at The Great American Bash was interviewed on Raw via satellite by Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler. Both asked Cena some questions and Cena made it clear that when he returns his first goal is to rid Raw of Mr. Kennedy and then of course to get back to the top and be WWE Champion. Cena said right now that we are looking at a possible return in October if all things go well but he might be back even earlier than that possibly in September! Cena said he’ll take it day by day and see how things go but he makes sure that he mentions Mr. Kennedy’s name and reminds him that he’ll see him when he’s back.

Mickie James vs. Beth Phoenix for Women’s Championship at SummerSlam announced

The ensuing feud between Mickie James and Beth Phoenix dates back a while but it seems these two divas have another big match ahead of them at SummerSlam. The new champion in Mickie James has to defend her title at SummerSlam due to Beth Phoenix having another rematch in her title clause that she has yet to use. Mick Foley ok’d the match and now Raw’s top two divas will meet with the gold on the line at SummerSlam in what will be the first Women’s Championship Match at the Biggest Party of the Summer since 1999!

Rob Van Dam makes special appearance, talks to both GM’s about possibly coming back to Raw

Rob Van Dam has less than a month to decide his fate in the WWE as the coveted free agent must have his mind made up by SummerSlam! He was first fired from ECW after Night of Champions only to see the brand come crashing down in front of his eyes less than a month later. Now RVD must choose either Raw or Smackdown and Mick Foley and Eric Bischoff both tried their best to coerce Van Dam back to Raw which he was previously on earlier in this year! RVD said that it’s going to be a hard decision for him but he’ll be on Smackdown this week to talk to Smackdown GM JBL and see what Smackdown can offer for him once again. Foley and Bischoff thank the former WWE Champion for coming in and Foley tells Bischoff he’s almost positive he can talk to Van Dam and bring him in.

Shelton Benjamin def. US Champion Matt Hardy (Non-title match) ; The Gold Standards beatdown Hardy afterwards; Hardy’s brother and opponent at SummerSlam (Jeff Hardy) makes the save

After last week’s vicious attack on the United States Champion Matt Hardy after his match, the Gold Standards were able tonight to thrust themselves into the running for the United States Championship. Prior to the match Eric Bischoff announced that if Benjamin won, both Benjamin and Burke would compete in a Triple Threat Match next week on Raw for the United States title with Hardy. Benjamin was able to sneak out a win thanks to Burke and shortly afterwards the Gold Standards did a number on Hardy again for the second week in a row. But it was Matt’s opponent at SummerSlam and his own brother Jeff that made the save. This was Jeff’s first appearance on Raw since being drafted to Smackdown and Jeff made it clear that despite the fact he’s representing Smackdown and he wants to win the match for Raw, he wants to keep his brother protected and that he wants a fair match at SummerSlam with Matt being 100 percent. Matt nodded and agreed as both of the brothers shook hands and shared a hug in the ring.

World Tag Team Champions Punk and Kendrick confronted by Priceless

The new duo of Priceless (Cody Rhodes and Ted DiBiase) stated that despite the fact they’ve only been on Raw for a month now, it’s evidently clear that they are the BEST tag team that not only Raw but the entire WWE has to offer. Rhodes says that their dads made a mockery out of their careers but that there is no need to worry because Ted and himself are ready to make a name for not only themselves but to cover up their Dad’s names! Punk and Kendrick both said that at any time these two want a match they can feel free because Punk and Kendrick are fighting champions. Priceless nodded as the cocky duo walked off with Punk and Kendrick left to talk with their tag team titles around their shoulders.

*********

So yeah I wanted to try out this popular WWE.com style of doing recapped shows. I found it a lot more enjoyable than the old style of recaps. It seems like it worked out fine and it's easier to do. But just get back with me and tell me how it worked and I might do it for Smackdown this week too.

Raw Feedback

Triple H getting nothing more then an elementary win against William Regal. Nothing really to brag about. The war of words continue between the two with some nice quotes by Batista as he continues to try and get into the head of Triple H however I can not see it working. Really don’t know what else to say just seemed like another week to build up the rivalry although I am hoping it heats up more and more as we keep going.

Kane getting the win over Henry was good as it keeps both Orton and Jericho going strong in there feud. Your finally introducing the more sadistic side of Randy Orton to us and I personally think that is a good thing because in my opinion sadistic Orton > cocky Orton.

Well Burchill after what looked like he was finally getting his big push he just gets brushed aside on a weekly show and I must say that is quite disappointing I was really looking forward to a push for him. Anyway Kennedy vs Taker at Summerslam should be off the hook and your Slam card continues to look amazing.

I can see Santino getting a dirty victory turning himself heel soon because he just can’t seem to get a win at the moment.

Kenny Dykstra continues to get the wins however I don’t like the fact that he is associating himself with Holly and Cryme Tyme, they are jobbers and Kenny can do better imo. I guess I am going to have to see where you go with this but at the moment I am not to sure.

Cena will be back at Summerslam to cost Kennedy his match with Taker stop trying to trick us But seriously the Cena/Kennedy fued continuing is majorly good.

Mickie James going against Phoenix is majorly FTW. Both girls know how t go and that means we will get a decent divas match at Summerslam.

RVD deciding what brand to sign with is going to create some more nice drama with the brands I can not wait to see what unfolds.

Shelton Benjamin going over Matt Hardy meh okay I thought you would want to make Matt Hardy look strong but anyway after the match Jeff Hardy comes out to make the save and I have to say this is slightly disappointing I don’t want to see a face vs face match I want one of the Hardys to turn heel damn it

Pirceless getting involved with the tag champs is perhaps a tad early so I can see them not winning for a while which would slowly make them lose credibility so I am not sure if this is the way to go.

Overall the show sounded like it would have been good however I personally do not like the whole WWE.com results thing it just makes it harder for me to get into.

A good show overall. I always prefer recaps, and I thought this was a good read. Is it an ideal form of recap? I dunno, but it's not bad, not bad at all. One thing though, the WWE post their shows in descending order of events because that's how they update their page. Once a match is done, they add the info to the page, so the match before gets bumped down. Don't do this in your BTB. When I see you made a new post I'd like to able to start reading in chronological order.

Orton's 'new side' intrigues me, and I hope it delivers. It'd be a shame to just watch a glorified cage match when Orton is allegedly going to be 'unleashed' so to speak. I'm liking this feud, actually more than the main feud, and I have a feeling that it will steal the show at Summerslam.

Despite them getting along now, I can see you making the Hardys actually feud with each other, so I hope Matt relinquishes the title next week. I'd rather see it on Shelton, and possibly have him and Burke feud.

I was very disconcerted at the Santino angle. Seems very unusual for him to act like this, and especially to have people console him (I don't remember much else aout him in this thread, so if he's a face, disregard this). I assume you're going for a face turn, although I think Santino is so good in his current role that a turn might not be a good idea. But I want to wait and see what else this angle has to offer before really making any judgement on it.

I didn't get why Holly beat Dykstra. I'd understand him hitting Kenny with his finisher, but a beatdown seems like an overreaction.

Summerslam is shaping up nicely, and Raw was very good. If you like this style of writing your show, keep it. I think it's good.

Hey KOP. I've been catching up with your thread lately and I figure I might as well leave some feedback on your recapped RAW. I must say first of all, that this format seems to deliver the most important happenings of the show which does it good justice. Whatever works for you man, is good.

Looked like a pretty competitive match between Regal and HHH, and it was pretty obvious that Trips was going to get the win here. Batista/HHH should prove to be fantastic come Summerslam and I really like what you've been doing with this feud so far. I have a feeling that the "teacher" Triple H may just master the "student" Batista in this contest, but it could go the other way also. Hoping this keeps heating up in the weeks to come.

Orton getting the 'last laugh' on this edition of RAW seemed pretty fitting with the way you've been developing his character as of late. I of course am fond of Orton, and enjoy his 'psychotic' nature so this build up to the Hell in a Cell match at Summerslam should be fantastic. By the way, kudos to you for not using the Hell in a Cell for 19 months in this thread. That's pretty damn hard for most bookers not to use a specific gimmick match,of course it's also pretty damn hard to stick with this thread as long as you have.

Kennedy challenging The Undertaker is a big step up in Kennedy's case and if he gets a victory I could see many bigger and better things for him in the future. I'm looking forward to see where you take this feud as most Undertaker feuds involve a lot of crazy shit happening, and this one could prove to be no different. My interest is pretty high in seeing where it all goes.

Could definitely see Santino keep his losing ways going, until at least late August. Wouldn't be too shocked if he won next week though.

Dykstra always seemed to have potential and usually the inclusion of a manager/valet means big things for those who get them. Don't expect anything to really come out of this interaction and Kenny will probably get put into a feud with some mid-carder and go over on him when the time comes.

After reading this, Cena to screw Kennedy at SSlam plz. I kinda like that you're keeping this feud going as well, should be noted.

Really looking forward to Mickie/Beth at Summerslam. They're two of the best in the game currently and hopefully you pull out a good match between them, which I know is in your power.

Ah, good to see you're keeping RVD around although that's probably not that much of a big surprise. Looking forward to seeing what brand he chooses and he will probably find himself appearing on both shows now leading up to Summerslam.

Good win for Shelton Benjamin, and this Brand Supremacy Match should be very, very intriguing. Can't say I don't have a definite answer as to who I think is going to win thus saying I don't have a definite answer as to who's getting fired. Should be fun to see one's demise come Summerslam though.

Priceless OWN so I'm glad to see you're using them but it could be early for them to get involved with the Tag Team Titles. This of course could possibly be a tease as they need a little bit more of a build up imo before they go for the Tag gold. Nonetheless I hope sooner or later you put it on them, since I'm kinda a fan.

Good stuff as per KOP. This thread is still going very strong and Summerslam is looking very nice. Expect me to be more of a frequent reader.

Friday Night Smackdown – August 3, 2007
US Airways Center – Phoenix, Arizona

HBK vs. Ric Flair Set for SummerSlam; Flair explains his actions

Ric Flair made his return to Friday Night Smackdown tonight after “just happening” to be sick last week. It was revealed last week via an exclusive tape in the locker room that showed Ric Flair was the one that bloodied up Shawn Michaels over a month ago on Smackdown. Apparently this had been leading up due to the fact way back at Judgment Day Shawn Michaels had Flair as his partner in a tag match and HBK accidentally struck Flair and then HBK later on cost Flair the World Heavyweight title accidentally at Night of Champions. Flair cut a great speech talking about why he did it and stated that “he had to do it not only to show the fans but to show himself that he’s still got something in him” Flair stated that he’s Ric Flair, he knows he’s better than every superstar back there and that he’s still got something in him! Flair also stated that “he sat back and rode behind Michaels since he came to Smackdown last April and that he couldn’t handle it anymore” Flair knew that the egotistical Shawn Michaels was back, the selfish side of HBK was here and Flair knew he had to do something about it. The Nature Boy continued on describing his actions as needing to happen and then he challenged Michaels to a match at SummerSlam! HBK’s music hit but Shawn Michaels didn’t make it out past the stage due to Smackdown GM JBL stopping him at the top. Security quickly grabbed Michaels as Flair looked on from the ring.

John Morrison def. Festus; Miz makes Smackdown re-debut helping Morrison

John Morrison was able to pull a victory out over one half of the WWE Tag Team Champions in Festus and whenever Miz (formerly of Raw) came to the ring and helped Morrison put a beat down on Jesse and the “knocked out” Festus; Miz and Morrison made a statement towards the tag team division on Smackdown. Miz told the fans that he got out of his contract on Raw as it had just expired and that John Morrison called him up “wanting” The Miz to tag team together with Morrison. The cocky Morrison and Miz both explained that they were both destined to be tag team partners and soon champions with one another due to the fact that they are both great, both good looking, and mainly both filled with talent!

Umaga def. A Local Jobber in his return to Smackdown

Umaga was revealed by Smackdown GM JBL as the mystery opponent and tag partner for Finlay at SummerSlam against Big Show and Christian. Shortly after with JBL watching on, Umaga rolled through a local jobber finishing him off with the Samoan Spike! Umaga had Armando Estrada at his side in his return to action in his first match since April. Umaga’s manager Armando Estrada then proceeded to put everyone on notice on Smackdown but pointed out Christian and Big Show as the first two targets that Umaga has his sights set on.

Edge hosts Cutting Edge with Special Guest Christian, MVP and Ezekiel Jackson crash the party

Edge held a special edition of the Cutting Edge with his brother Christian as the guest but it didn’t take too long for the World-Heavyweight Champion MVP and his bodyguard Ezekiel Jackson to crash the party. MVP made the most of the opportunity of reminding Edge about Ezekiel punching Edge’s lights out last week literally as Edge ran into a big right hand from Big Zeke. Edge had been interviewing his brother about his big tag match at SummerSlam with Big Show against Finlay and the returning Umaga but it was MVP’s interruption that caused a big brawl between the two brothers and the champion and his bodyguard. Smackdown GM JBL wasted no time announcing a tag team match that would take place right then and there.

MVP and Ezekiel Jackson def. Edge and Christian; MVP declares the Tour of Greatness to begin

Thanks to the work of Big Zeke, MVP was able to get his first clean pin fall victory over the former World-Heavyweight Champion Edge. Big Zeke knocked Edge’s lights out for the second week in a row and this week it was MVP that was victorious after losing last week in a tag match to Edge and Jeff Hardy. Christian tried breaking the pin fall up but thanks to the Samoan Bulldozer Umaga, Christian stood no chance of getting back into the ring and saving his brother. MVP had his title handed to him and shortly after hyped himself up as the “Greatest Wrestler Alive” and then proceeded to announce that starting next week the MVP’s Tour of Greatness kicks off in Ohio! MVP says he won’t give away any plans other than that it’ll be big things poppin’ and little things stoppin’.

RVD Makes Special Apperance, Talks About Possible Return to Smackdown

After having appeared on Raw this past week, the free agent Rob Van Dam decided to appear on Smackdown and weigh his options to see how he would be seen on Smackdown. RVD DID NOT get to speak with GM John Bradshaw Layfield due to the GM being busy but RVD was interviewed and did express interest in coming back to Smackdown for the first time since 2005. RVD has until SummerSlam where he will make his decision on what brand he chooses!

The Big Show and Umaga meet for the first time backstage

The Big Show was in the middle of an interview before the Samoan Bulldozer Umaga came in and broke up the proceedings. Armando Estrada sent the interviewer away as Umaga and Big Show both met face to face for the first time ever! Armando Estrada yelled at the Big Show daring him to try and mess with Umaga at SummerSlam. Armando Estrada tells Big Show that Umaga is doing this as a favor for JBL and that once he finishes off two of Smackdown’s biggest “dummies” in Christian and you (Big Show), Umaga will be free to go after the World-Heavyweight Championship.

Gregory Helms states that he “was the best Cruiserweight” but there is no division any longer; Helms gets beaten down shortly after

Gregory Helms continued his crusade against the Cruiserweight division stating that it was a joke and that there is no need for a pathetic title being here on Smackdown. Helms told the fans that he has tried to bring in a more prestigious title but has failed in every attempt so far. Helms gets interrupted by his fellow cruiserweights that attacked him last week as all of the Cruiserweights circled around the loud mouth Helms. The Mexicools, Jimmy Wang Yang, Shannon Moore and Funaki all gave Helms a beat down that he would likely remember for a while. When will this Cruiserweight chaos finally come to an end?

Brent Albright def. Carlito (Non-title match)

Brent Albright was able to pick up a big win on Smackdown over Carlito meaning that each participant in the Fatal 4 Way has picked up a victory in the past four weeks and it has been over a different opponent in each match. This means that each superstar has one loss and one win in the past four weeks and it really looks interesting heading into the Fatal 4 Way at SummerSlam! Carlito had tried his best to make it another win for him but Brent Albright quickly caught Carlito off guard and hit a nice German Suplex combo before catching Carlito with the bridge and Carlito had no time to kick out at all. Albright has proven himself to be a fighting champion but can he keep the title as SummerSlam is only a few weeks away. His other opponents in Paul London was on commentary as Charlie Haas sat backstage sitting in the locker room watching on and paying very close attention.

Jamie Noble meets up backstage with a mystery person

Jamie Noble came out of the locker room after meeting with someone and nobody at all had a clue who he could have met up with. It seems though that Noble and this “mystery person” certainly got along real well but one must wonder who was behind this door. Will the former ECW superstar tell us who he was talking to?

The Prototype Coming to Smackdown

A video hyping a new superstar coming to Smackdown nicknamed “The Prototype” was shown on Smackdown but nobody has a clue who this superstar could be. Many numbers and letters flashed across the screen before the letters formed “The Prototype” and shortly afterwards said “Coming to Smackdown”

Jeff Hardy def. Finlay; Hardy receives a "lesson" afterwards

Jeff Hardy was thrown into a match tonight with JBL’s lone back up now in Finlay in a “punishment” against Hardy for appearing on Raw this past Monday with no permission from the Smackdown GM JBL. JBL said that Hardy disobeyed the GM’s rulings and that he will pay tonight. Little did JBL expect that Finlay would not be on top of his game as Hardy fought Finlay to one hard match and caught the Fighting Irishman off guard with a Twist of Fate before finishing it up with a big Swanton Bomb! Jeff Hardy celebrated his victory but did not have much time thanks to the GM JBL intervening himself into the beat down! JBL had Finlay hold Hardy up before JBL hit a Clothesline from Hell on the representative from Smackdown for the Brand Supremacy Match and afterwards stared at Hardy asking Hardy “if he learned his lesson?” Matt Hardy came rushing down to the ring looking for a fight but JBL and Finlay ditched the ring. Matt (from Raw) checked on his brother as Smackdown came to an end. A rather strange ending happened on Smackdown and what will be the next step in this saga between the two brothers and opponents and their respective General Managers?

Smackdown Comments

The Flair/HBK situation is looking nice as Flair had a good motive as to why he did what he did, which leads to the feud now becoming even more personal if possible because Flair believes he is right. Miz and Morrison as a tag team on Smackdown is something I am keen to see as they will be the hottest tag team on the show now. How long until they get the straps do you think? Umaga back and immediately put into a fairly high profile match for Summerslam is great news for me and I hope he stays as an unstable monster. MVP getting the win for some momentum and I like how invincible you are making Jackson out to be. Gregory Helms and the cruiserweights division continues to impress me I can not wait to see the big match for Summerslam. US Title situation is coming along very nicely I must say. Starting something interesting with Noble I see, I will definitely be intrigued to see where it goes from here. Who is The Prototype wasn’t that a Cena gimmick or am I mistaken? Jeff Hardy beating Finlay to continue the momentum and once again Matt Hardy did not hurt Jeff, was not happy with that result at all.

Overall things are progressing nicely would like to see you go back to normal show format though. Anyway see ya for Raw.

Default Re: WWE 2007: UTF - The Inevitable Return

Straight off the bat - please drop the wwe.com style recaps. Not liking the style whatsoever tbh. I like the more free flowing ‘show’ feel, rather than a bulletin.

Triple H and Regal would’ve been a solid main event. Probably the best of the recent main event vs. mid card main events you’ve had recently on Raw. Trips goes over as you’d expect. The comments from Big Dave set the scene nicely for Summerslam, with the question being asked; ‘Can The Game win the title again??’. Didn’t think it would be possible, but I’m quite keen on seeing these two square off at Summerslam. Hard to call where it is going too, which is always a plus.

Was that the first time Orton has utilised the punt in this thread?? If so, it’s a good time to debut such a sadistic move, right before the most sadistic type of match. Negative though - Jericho is obviously going to be part of HIAC, so it means he’ll only sell the effects of the punt for a week or two. The move should be put over as it has been in real life recently imo - a weapon for putting someone on the shelf. It loses it’s impact if Jericho turns up in the next few weeks.

Not terribly into the Kennedy - Taker feud if I’m honest. Doesn’t really feel too epic to me, but if Kennedy goes over cleanly, or even relatively cleanly, it will be a massive moment for Kennedy - as he will surely become an instant main event star. Not many guys will be able to say they beat Cena and Taker on consecutive months - but I think Kennedy will. The build has been quite odd (what was the point in Burchill and his claim to be behind the attacks??), and fairly average, but you can wipe that from our memories with a momentous result at Summerslam.

Not sure what to make of the Santino bit. Is he set to become the jobber comedy gold act we know and love?? Or is he going to be a competitive component on Raw?? I’d prefer the comedy tbh, lol.

Hold on, Dykstra takes a two on one beating, with his girlfriend held captive … and HE’S the heel?? It’s not a good way to build a face team imo, and it’s a worse way to make a promising heel look good. Not only does he get beat up, but the fans might even feel sorry for him, considering it was pretty much unprovoked. The segment last week hardly made this attack seem acceptable. Would’ve rather seen Cryme Tyme embarrass the pair via a promo, and piss Kenny off, but beating him down, and making his girlfriend watch seemed like a despicable heel worthy act.

Thankfully the Cena / Kennedy feud is going to keep going, and hasn’t been dropped, despite the injury to Cena. The feud oughta get HAWT once Cena returns and turns the intensity up a few notches.

The Summerslam card looks really stacked, and I’m assuming it’s a four hour event, otherwise it’s overly stacked. Could’ve even held off on the womens title match for another month, as it’ll get lost in the shuffle given the matches on this shindig. Saying that, Mickie vs. Beth is just about the top feud for the women, and a big event like Summerslam is a fitting venue for them to clash.

Not much to comment on with RVD. Both rosters look loaded at the moment, so it’s tough to see where he’ll fit on either show.

As expected, Jeff makes the save for Matt after a double team beating from the Gold Standards. Tag match to follow soon methinks. Needs to be something of interest added to the Matt vs. Jeff match at Summerslam, whether that be a heel turn, or some sort of prize for the winner too. Seems like the fact it’s two brothers fighting is taking a bit of a backseat to the Raw / SD element of it. This one has much potential to be the biggest thing at Summerslam, and I just hope the ship doesn’t sail on the chances on making it the biggest thing at SS.

Looks like a new feud for the tag champions. I like the Priceless tandem, and it’s good to see them in this thread. I just hope they don’t take the titles in this feud, as it seems way too early for them to take the belts, and too soon for the new champs to lose them. Eventually, Cody and Ted should be the team to win the titles, but not for a while imo.

Anyway, I'll get around to Smackdown at some point tomorrow, after I dish out the rest of the reviews I promised to do.

Default Re: WWE 2007: UTF - The Inevitable Return

WWE Monday Night Raw – August 6, 2007
HSBC Arena – Buffalo, New York

Batista let his actions speak very loud on Monday night as he proceeded to use his former mentor’s and his opponent at SummerSlam in Triple H’s favorite “weapon” to take out numerous things and well people at the same time! The Animal went crazy backstage attacking Triple H’s vehicle even going as far as to knock the glass out of the window and repeatedly beating the car. Shane McMahon happened to be backstage at Raw at the time and came out trying to calm down the Animal but it was too late. The Animal had snapped and Shane-o-Mac found himself in the middle of the wrong situation he wanted to be in. Batista suddenly struck Shane with the sledgehammer knocking the famous son of Mr. McMahon down onto the ground as Batista stood over Shane before walking off and dropping the sledgehammer on the stomach of Triple H’s brother-in-law. Batista was escorted out of the arena by security shortly afterwards as Raw co-GM Mick Foley barred Batista from the arena for tonight! Triple H came running backstage checking on Shane o Mac as Batista was escorted away and you could hear Triple H yelling back at Batista “You son of a bit*h” which was obviously bleeped out.

With his tag partner Brian Kendrick at his side, CM Punk fought off Chavo Guerrero in a rather good match to kick the night off between the two but it was Punk that pulled out the victory when it was needed with the GTS! Punk and Kendrick didn’t have much time to celebrate though as for the second week in a row they were met with words from one of the newer teams here on Raw in Priceless. Both of the second generation superstars stated their desires for gold soon and that they would stop at nothing to get the gold! Cody told Ted that next week Raw was going to be at Madison Square Garden and that well, it would be rather fitting if Priceless were able to win their first match ever at the Garden. Priceless left it at that letting the tag team champions of Punk and Kendrick ponder just why Priceless continue to try and “one-up” the tag champs despite having only been on Raw for a few months.

Kenny Dykstra ran into Hardcore Holly backstage. The fans booed the arrogant Dykstra as he bragged about his victory last week over Hardcore Holly but Holly brought up the fact that Kelly Kelly had to resort to tripping up the veteran. Holly says that the next time he meets Dykstra in the ring he’ll give him a special “rookie beatdown” that Dykstra is bound to never forget.

Beth Phoenix quickly rolled through Michelle McCool pulling out a big victory heading into SummerSlam at the Biggest Party of the Summer. The former Women's Champion celebrated her win as the fans looked on as the cocky diva before the fan favorite Mickie James came out. Mickie and Beth both exchanged glances as the collison course for these two divas is set to end at SummerSlam.

After last week’s victory in which Shelton Benjamin defeated Matt Hardy in a one on one match to earn this title match for the Golden Standards, it was Benjamin that struck gold once again earning the United States title and bringing it home to the Gold Standards. Their manager Teddy Long was kicked out earlier in the match but thanks to a timely Elijah Express from Elijah Burke, Benjamin knocked his tag partner out of the ring showing his true colors before covering Hardy and ending the near eight month reign of the champion. Benjamin quickly grabbed the title celebrating with the gold as he’d never won the US title before. Hardy looked on from the outside as Benjamin celebrated with the gold while Burke tried pulling the title away from Benjamin claiming it was his. Teddy Long came down trying to calm the two down and eventually got them to stop the arguing.

Despite JBL’s wishes to not have Jeff Hardy on the “inferior brand” as JBL has referred to it, Jeff Hardy appeared despite the beatdown he received this past week on Smackdown from Finlay and JBL. Jeff said he understood Matt tried to help him and well he understands he couldn’t get there quick. Jeff tries to console Matt about losing the title earlier but Matt says it's okay. Matt tells Jeff that he’s been having some “problems” recently with the Gold Standards and that next week he’s got a tag match with them. Matt tells Jeff he can’t think of a better partner than his own brother to team with him in “The Garden” next week. Jeff says he’ll be there regardless of what JBL says about it. Jeff says despite the fact they’ve got to wrestle one another at SummerSlam, he’ll gladly team with his brother. The two brothers exchange a quick hug as Jeff walks off with Matt looking at Jeff hoping that Jeff comes through with his promise.

The losing ways of Santino Marella continued as the “Italian Stallion” could not score another victory as Marella fell prey to a new superstar on Raw in Kevin Thorn. Thorn made his official debut on Raw surprising many fans as the vampire scored a nice win over Santino with a move that was referred to as Original Sin. Santino has now lost three matches in a row and it seems that the fan favorite just can’t pull a win out of his bag. Santino paraded around the ring after the match looking angry and acting his normal comical self even going as far as to yell out “Shut upa your face”

After last week’s punt to the head Chris Jericho was not able to appear on Raw this week but was interviewed earlier in the evening via satellite to announce he will be on Raw next week and that he will be hosting a special edition of the Highlight Reel with a special guest that will not be announced tonight! Jericho quickly made it clear that he’s out to get Orton for what he’s done to him the whole entire year. Jericho said the year of 2007 has been living hell for him despite it starting out well. Jericho thought it was going to be his dream year but he was wrong. Jericho made it known that he’s shown a nice side throughout the whole year to all of his Jerichoholics but whenever he steps into the Hell in a Cell in only 21 days, he’ll be a different person. A person that is sick, sadistic, and simply looking for revenge.

Randy Orton was not in action tonight but did find himself backstage responding to Jericho’s comments. Orton stated that he’s heard enough from Jericho. Jericho drew the line whenever he stole the title from Orton at WrestleMania but Orton made Jericho pay. Orton says he’s an entire new man as well now. Orton reminds Jericho that Y2J went through a “transformation” earlier in the year resorting back to being a loving, caring, and Jerichoholic that he was known for for many years. Orton says his transformation is not like that. No. Orton says that he’s became a more vindictive, revengeful, and just crazy person. Orton said he’s looking forward to SummerSlam because just like Jericho when he steps into the Cell, he’ll be a completely different person. The fans will not like this side of Orton but they’ll have to deal with it. Orton says that there is only one person to blame and that is Chris Jericho himself!

Eric Bischoff and Mick Foley made some big announcements stating that next week is going to be a HUGE night for Raw as SummerSlam will only be two weeks away but also Raw is heading back to the World’s Most Famous Arena! First off Bischoff and Foley hyped the Hardy’s reuniting next week in tag team action against the Gold Standards, The Highlight Reel’s return, Priceless making their MSG debuts, but then proceeded to announce a HUGE Six Man Tag Team Match. It’ll be the WWE Champion Batista teaming with Randy Orton, and Mr. Kennedy to take on Triple H, Chris Jericho, and the Undertaker! Bischoff and Foley then stated that next week as well Eric Bischoff will have free agent Rob Van Dam on Raw and he will try to get RVD to commit to a contract prior to SummerSlam!

Mr. Kennedy fought Kane in the fifth match and main event of the night. Kennedy and Kane both battled for a while but it was Kennedy that defeated the brother of his opponent at SummerSlam whenever he reversed a Chokeslam and hit a low blow with the referee distracted to finish off Kane with the Mic Check. Kennedy celebrated his victory but suddenly the lights went off! The fans went crazy as Undertaker was bound to be here but a light shone at the top of the arena! The light focused in a bare area of the arena as Kennedy tried to figure out if it was the Undertaker at the top of the arena or not. Kennedy turned around figuring that Undertaker was not up at the top of the arena before he ran right into a big Chokeslam from the Undertaker. The Undertaker stood over Kennedy in an rather ominous way before getting down on one knee and posing.

Raw ended with the Game Triple H talking backstage to Mr. McMahon about the earlier attack on Vince’s son Shane. Mr. McMahon stated that he came here to Raw tonight to try and prepare for The Biggest Party of the Summer in only a few weeks. Vince said that he was here to talk to a few Raw superstars but now he’s got other stuff to handle such as The Animal losing it earlier tonight. Triple H asked his father-in-law what he planned on doing and Vince stated that he’ll have an answer next week here on Raw whenever Raw emanates from the Garden. Vince said he’ll have a few things to address as well on Raw concerning possibly even the future of Raw depending on the Brand Supremacy Match and then tells Triple H that he’ll see him next week. Triple H walks off going his separate way as Mr. McMahon walks off heading towards his limo. Mr. McMahon closes the door of his limo and suddenly someone comes flying back in a vehicle RIGHT after Mr. McMahon closes his door. One second too late and Mr. McMahon could have been ran over! Mr. McMahon opens the door looking at the vehicle as it’s long gone as Raw ends with Mr. McMahon standing there in shock.

Yeah Wolfy I don't think I'm going to use the wwe.com style reports again. I liked them at first but don't really care for them now.

Orton has used the punt before in the thread but it's been sparse. Like this was probably only the second or third time. Now I know it seems like it wasn't a good idea due to Jericho not being able to sell it but he wasn't on Raw this week so that was good in a way but I needed to add another dimension mainly to this sadistic Orton side. It's not as "lethal" of a move right now as it is in real life but eventually will be.

I agree that the 'Taker stuff is confusing. Basically it's a bunch of people, well actually right now just Burchill and Kennedy having claimed stake that they attacked and took out the Undertaker. Basically nobody knows who did it and it's a guessing game of who did it. Many people are owning up due to it being the Deadman of course and wanting to be known as the person who took him out but basically that's the sum of the feud. Kennedy claimed he did it and well, who knows he might actually have?

Yeah the Dykstra part came off wrong. Meant it to be as a "revenge" type thing for Kelly helping him cheat. My bad on that part.

SummerSlam will be 3 1/2 hours pushing to 4. Most likely in between there though.

Finally the Brand Supremacy. Matt's already got a "special incentive" from Bischoff promised if he wins but Jeff doesn't have one. That's because Bischoff plays the type of GM that would give up stuff to save his job, etc. while JBL is just expecting Jeff to win and not get anything in return. That's why JBL beat the living hell out of Hardy in the main event last week on Smackdown (don't know if you caught that or not) but he did it because he didn't give Jeff "permission" to appear on Raw. Now regardless Jeff is going to disobey or the feud wouldn't exist right now but basically it's either "Do it or find out the consequences" for Jeff pretty much. Now the brother vs. brother part really hasn't popped up that match as it's really not about that too much. I know it seems like it would be but it's being played off as if the two don't want to face one another with their GM's jobs on the line regardless of how much they hate them. They know there will be dire consequences if they lose and for that they don't want to be in this position really. It'll hopefully come off a bit better on Raw next week though.
