Breaking News: WWE Folds ECW Brand

With only six weeks left until the Triple Threat Brand Supremacy Match at SummerSlam, it seems that the match will now turn into a One on One Match seeing as ECW will no longer exist. There are many reasons being rumored as to why ECW has folded and one was first off the contract with Sci-Fi was ending at the end of the month. WWE could not come to terms with Sci-Fi and did not wish to seek other options as to whom could take the brand and run with it. It's looked at as a rather disappointment despite the fact the brand did do rather decent in the first six months that it ran.

However Mr. McMahon didn't seem to see the brand going anywhere and this is why he has decided to go ahead and fold the brand. It is thought that Velocity and Heat could see their returns made soon to keep the superstars on the smaller shows but as for now WWE has no interest in having a "third major brand" at all. Mr. McMahon was reached about having the Brand Supremacy Match still occuring at SummerSlam and he did say that the match will still occur and that despite Paul Heyman and ECW being now defunct, the losing brand's GM will still be fired! Mr. McMahon says that despite ECW being gone he is confident that the superstars of ECW will be able to find enough time on TV over on Raw and Smackdown as he has seen it work before.

ECW General Manager Paul Heyman could not be reached for contact but a source has said that Heyman is rather distraught about the closing of the ECW brand and says that he had thought a lot was going for the brand including the return of Bobby Lashley, the new ECW Champion in the Great Khali, the feuds between Kane and Mark Henry, and a whole lot more which seemed to be shaping up rather well for the Third Brand. The source said that Heyman will still most likely remain with the company but wil take an off-screen role for now on.

According to Mr. McMahon there will be a special draft held over on Smackdown this Friday (to try and boost ratings for Smackdown since most Drafts are held on Raw) and that many of the ECW Superstars will have new homes come this Friday. It comes at a rather weird time for McMahon to end ECW with the Great American Bash only one week away so one must wonder what is going to occur with the new superstars that will be heading to Raw? There's only one way to find out and that is this Friday on Friday Night Smackdown in the special ECW Draft!

*********

Ok well as you can see I had many plans for ECW but clearly writing two shows is hard and three is even harder. I hate to end ECW as I think it worked well but everything regarding ECW will be cleared up on Smackdown this week. I wanted to wait until SummerSlam to end this but really I don't know if I'll ever get there by writing three shows so clearly this was the option to go ahead and end ECW right now. I'm sure I'm going to release a few superstars from ECW but there will be a decent Draft this Friday bringing the superstars over to their brands so look for that Smackdown soon. Also Raw is done and will probably go up tonight and I might even put Smackdown up with it. If that is the case I'll have a Great American Bash preview up probably tomorrow and try to have the Bash up this Sunday.

Either way I'm ready to get to SummerSlam and I know everybody else is.

Okay mate overall i think it is a good idea to close ECW now you can just have Raw and Smackdown and hopefully produce even better stuff

Also i don't know what is wrong with Heyman but Lashley and Khali and Kane and Henry and he said it was going good. UUGGGHHH please, the closing was a good thing. Anyway good luck i will be reading

Hey KOP,

I think folding ECW was a good decision. You didn't really have anything to gain from a third brand, especially with The Great Khali as its world champion. BTW, when you are going back to full shows?

Monday Night Raw – July 16, 2007
Amarillo Civic Center – Amarillo, Texas

Raw opens tonight with Eric Bischoff on the titantron. Bischoff says that for the past few weeks he has had his WWE champion and the two number one contenders wreck havoc here on Raw and well that just can’t be done! That is why tonight he is putting all three of them into a six man tag match where they MUST team together tonight in a six man tag team match against Bischoff’s handpicked opponents of Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch, and Paul Burchill! Bischoff reminds Triple H, Batista, and Chris Jericho that he’s just about sick and tired of all this fighting and it ends tonight because they have to be on the same page and if either Triple H, Batista, or Jericho are pinned and lose the match, then Bischoff has a rather big surprise waiting for them at the end of the match.

The night kicks off with Chavo Guerrero taking on Santino Marella for the Number One Contention for the United States title. Guerrero and Marella wrestle a decent match but Marella was mainly acting his normal foolish self to try and throw off Guerrero. Marella was already deemed the number one contender BUT if Guerrero wins tonight he gets Santino’s spot in the match. Guerrero had his bodyguard Bam Neely interfere and attack Santino on the apron while Guerrero distracted the referee! Marella was knocked out with a big punch from Neely which gave Chavo to chance to hit the Frog Splash from the top and secure the victory! Chavo celebrated his victory with Bam Neely as Santino laid in the middle of the ring aware that he no longer is the number one contender. JR and King talk about how Santino has been screwed over and that now it’ll be Guerrero vs. Matt Hardy at the ‘Bash.

After the break Todd Grisham catches up with Mickie James, the number one contender for the Women’s Championship, and interviews her concerning her match this weekend at the Great American Bash. Mickie says she’s fought long and hard to get herself another title match and that she knows it is her time to shine. It’s been nearly a year since Mickie has held the title but Mickie knows she’s got in her to win the title at the ‘Bash this week and defeat her former “friend” in Beth Phoenix. Mickie criticizes Beth stating that she really ever wonders if Beth was her friend or if she just wanted protection to try and hide her title from Victoria? Mickie says she’ll find out this Sunday when she puts an end to this.

Mr. Kennedy is in action next as he goes one on one with Joey Mercury in a rather decent match. Mercury gets some offense in on Kennedy but of course the match was mainly for Kennedy to dominate heading into the ‘Bash this Sunday. Kennedy wins via the Mic Check before he points to the sky as his mic comes down from the rafters. Kennedy talks about how he’s got the biggest match of his career this Sunday but that he’s not going to back down from a challenge. Kennedy said he’s been on Raw long enough to realize that Cena easily has the biggest ego this brand has ever seen and that Mr. Kennedy must do something about it (ironic?) Kennedy says he won’t waste any time this Sunday making John Cena bleed to end the match as quick as possible and prove to all the fans just why he is the most talented superstar on Raw and that his name is Mr. Kennedyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!! Cena ambushes Kennedy from behind as Cena throws some hard punches at Kennedy but Kennedy finally escapes through the crowd as Cena and Kennedy have a staredown.

A video package hyping SummerSlam airs stating that it is only about six weeks away. Right after that we get a small video package stating that next week the Raw participant in the Triple Threat Brand Supremacy Match for SummerSlam will be announced where all three General Manager’s (barring Mick Foley as co-GM) will be on the line come SummerSlam.

We get a preview of the Bash this Sunday as one half of the Gold Standards in Shelton Benjamin takes on one half of the World Tag Team Champions in CM Punk. This is Punk and Benjamin’s first singles match against one another despite this feud having been on and off for the past four months. Either way Punk and Benjamin give it their all and really impress the fans in the end and it was Benjamin that got his team the victory after catching Punk off guard with a nice T-Bone Exploder Suplex before covering Punk and getting the victory. Benjamin slid outside to celebrate with Burke and his manager Theodore Long before Kendrick brought the titles in consoling Punk before their big tag team Ladder Match this Sunday at the ‘Bash.

Backstage Matt Hardy runs into the new number one contender for the United States title in Chavo Guerrero. Guerrero has Neely with him as Guerrero tells Matt that the title will soon be his. Matt says that he has to disagree because he’s fought long and hard to keep this title and he just can’t let somebody take it from him. Guerrero says that he’s never held a major singles title but now that he’s here on Raw everything is about to change. Guerrero and Neely walk off as Matt Hardy shakes his head in disgust at the arrogance of Guerrero and Neely.

After the break Paul Burchill is standing by backstage in front of the interview area. Burchill talks about how he issued the challenge to the Undertaker this Sunday at the Bash and how nobody understands what he is doing. Burchill says he’s got business to take care of tonight in the main event but that he has more important business to take care of come the Great American Bash. Burchill says “I did it” and now I’ve got them coming after me to which Burchill leaves it at that. But as he gets ready to walk off he says some more eerie words in “I must end it, I must end it all” as Burchill makes his way out of the interview area.

Our fourth match of the night is a divas match which sees the Women’s Champion Beth Phoenix in action against Candice Michelle. Candice gives Beth a good fight as it seemed that the much improved Candice stood a chance at the upset but Beth caught Candice off guard with a nice clothesline knocking her back down onto the mat. Beth quickly picked up Candice hitting the Glam Slam to earn the victory tonight heading into her match with Mickie James at the ‘Bash.

Backstage Santino Marella is looking down after losing his first match in his career tonight before he runs into Mick Foley. Foley encourages Marella and tells him not to get down on himself and just look at the positive in that he has came a long way in only four months. Marella agrees and says that he’s had a great run but it’s only getting started. Foley says that since he did name Santino the number one contender but Chavo beat him, he will get a title shot next Monday on Raw against the winner of the Matt Hardy/Chavo Guerrero match. Santino thanks Foley and walks off with a big smile on his face.

The main event kicks off as Triple H, Chris Jericho, and the WWE Champion Batista are forced to team together tonight against Lance Cade, Trevor Murdoch, and Paul Burchill. Cade, Murdoch, and Burchill weren’t used as jobbers in the match at all really as Cade and Murdoch seemed to be relied on as the tag team that could do a bit of punishment and that is why they were booked into this match. Cade and Murdoch worked over on Triple H tagging in Burchill a few times as Batista seemed to enjoy it. Triple H was finally able to break free and come at Batista with the tag but Batista dropped off the apron as usual. Batista laughed at Triple H as Triple H was in pain but was able to tag in Jericho! Batista looked on from the outside as Triple H dragged himself towards the outside of the ring. Jericho fought off the odds of Cade and Murdoch before Burchill pushed him into the corner. Batista jumped onto the apron quickly tagging himself in rather arrogantly as Burchill got thrown to the outside by Batista quickly. Batista shoved Jericho telling him to “Get out of his way” as Batista double clotheslined Cade and Murdoch before Military Pressing Murdoch to the outside. Batista quickly threw Cade underneath his legs as Batista hit the Batista Bomb as Jericho looked on from the outside. Batista got the pinfall victory and right after Batista’s music hit Triple H and Jericho stood up as if they were going to double team Batista but the music of Raw Co-General Manager Eric Bischoff hit around the arena! Bischoff promised there would be no fighting here tonight and said there won’t be. Bischoff says if somebody hits one another right now they forfeit over this spot at the match this Sunday and that it all ends just like that. Triple H, Batista, and Jericho are left in the ring talking trash to one another with nothing to do since they cannot hit one another. Batista throws the WWE title on the mat as Triple H and Jericho look down on it as Raw comes to a close.

Friday Night Smackdown – July 20, 2007
Laredo Civic Center – Laredo, Texas

Smackdown kicks off with a video package highlighting the first ever VIP Lounge last week where the new World-Heavyweight Champion MVP had himself as a guest on his show before Edge tried to crash the party. MVP’s new bodyguard Ezekiel Jackson held Edge back though before JBL banned Edge from the arena for the night. Christian is shown in action next against Marcus Cor Von winning in a hard fought match before discussing just how much he’s had enough of JBL abusing his General Manager powers. The last thing shown is Mr. McMahon making his presence known and stating that he will not strip MVP of the title since Edge did not want that done. McMahon also announces that Edge will announce his title rematch here tonight on Smackdown before McMahon talked about the Brand Supremacy Match at SummerSlam where the losing brand’s GM is fired! JBL and Finlay are left in the ring to ponder just who they are going to pick for the match as last week’s Smackdown came to a close.

Michael Cole and Tazz (making his return to Smackdown) hype tonight’s big Smackdown with Finlay taking on the Big Show, a WWE Tag Team title match between the champs Jesse and Festus against the former champs, the Mexicools, Edge’s announcement on his title rematch and much, much more!

The night kicks off in action with a rematch from last week pitting the Intercontinental Champion Brent Albright taking on Carlito. Carlito and Albright get a bit more time this week than last week and this week Charlie Haas entered himself into the fray by interfering and costing Albright the match giving Carlito the victory via the Back Stabber! Carlito celebrated his victory over the champion before Paul London hit the ring kicking Carlito from behind with a big dropkick knocking Carlito to the outside. London seems to have gotten his revenge on Carlito who interfered in his first ever main event match last week on Smackdown against Jeff Hardy costing London the match by DQ! Haas and Carlito made their way up the ramp staring down Albright and London in the ring as we went to a commercial break.

JBL is backstage talking to Carlito after the break and Carlito says that he deserves a title shot now at SummerSlam. JBL seems to agree and says that two other men have stated their cases for the title recently in their performances and that’s why JBL’s booking a Fatal 4 Way at SummerSlam for the Intercontinental title with Brent Albright defending the gold against Carlito, Charlie Haas, and Paul London! Carlito looks angry that London (his rival) is getting a chance to be in the match but says that he’s not at all concerned about little old Paul London.

The second match of the night is Jesse and Festus putting their WWE Tag Team titles on the line against the team of Psicosis and Super Crazy, the Mexicools! The former champs in the Mexicools put up a good fight but due to former Cruiserweight Champion Gregory Helms interfering, the Mexicools lost the match to Jesse and Festus by DQ after Helms grabbed a tag title and struck Super Crazy across the back with it! It seems Helms was trying to get inside of the head of the Cruiserweight division as he had been doing the past few weeks and to try and send a message to them. Regardless Jesse helped the Mexicools up (since Festus was out of it of course) and shook their hands as we headed backstage.

The Big Show is being interviewed backstage by Maria and talks about how ever since he came back in May that there seems to be a little bit of disrespect being shown towards the World’s Largest Athlete. JBL clearly isn’t taking advantage of having one of the biggest superstars on his roster and Big Show says if JBL won’t take advantage of it, then I’ll have to. Big Show says that it’s great to be back and all but it’s been nearly three months. Big Show then says if he can’t earn respect right now, he’ll have to go out and get it tonight against Finlay.

Shawn Michaels is shown sitting down in his locker room backstage before Ric Flair approaches him. Flair is in a nice suit tonight as HBK is in his ring gear getting ready for a match next. Flair asks Michaels if he is okay and how he’s feeling after the attack. HBK says that it’s been nearly three weeks but he still feels like it was just yesterday. He says he will never be able to forgive whoever attacked him backstage and that whenever he finds out, he promises that this person will regret having messed with one of the greats in the business. Flair wishes HBK good luck and says he’ll be watching his match here tonight rooting on the Heart Break Kid!

The third match of the night sees Shawn Michaels in action as he takes on Deuce. Michaels and Deuce wrestle a small match with Deuce pretty much of course jobbing to HBK. HBK runs through his normal moves trying to show he’s back into his game now despite the backstage attack three weeks ago and finishes off Deuce with Sweet Chin Music. Cherry and Domino roll Deuce to the outside as HBK celebrates his victory in the ring. Ric Flair is shown backstage looking on from a monitor with a smile on his face clapping for the Heart Break Kid.

MVP is backstage in his nice personal locker room which of course has his name on it, bottled water sitting on ice in the corner, a nice black carpet with his name and logo printed on it and a nice MVP chair with the logo as well that he is sitting in. MVP has his gold on his shoulder as he is talking to Ezekiel Jackson, his newly introduced bodyguard. MVP thanks Ezekiel for taking up this offer and MVP reminds Ezekiel that he’ll get back to his agent to talk about the dolla’ bills coming Ezekiel’s way! Ezekiel says “No problem” as MVP says he’s a bit concerned about Edge’s announcement here tonight thinking it might be next week but MVP says Edge can’t be that stupid to want to get his ass beaten down this early by the new champion. Ezekiel tells MVP to calm down and the camera leaves after that allowing MVP time to rest before the big announcement later tonight.

JBL is talking backstage to Finlay discussing the big match tonight (no pun intended) against the Big Show. Suddenly a knock is heard as in walks Jeff Hardy. JBL smiles as Jeff Hardy is certainly the person he wanted to see. JBL is preparing to ask Hardy of a huge favor as Jeff seems ready for it and JBL asks Jeff if he is willing to represent Smackdown in the Brand Supremacy Match! The fans go nuts as Jeff says he has to think about it. JBL says “There’s no thinking about it Jeff! You’ve got to be the man! You’re perhaps one of the hardest superstars to understand and this will help me, I mean Smackdown at SummerSlam. So what do you say? JBL does have a point though in that Hardy definently has many different traits about him that would make him a nice recruit to represent Smackdown. Hardy says he’s never really cared much for JBL but that he’s willing to represent Smackdown at SummerSlam! Hardy leaves the room as JBL smiles saying “Well that’s taken care of….” As we head to another break.

John Morrison is in action next as he takes on Shannon Moore. Morrison pretty much is given this match to showoff his new gimmick and all and does just that as he runs right through Moore before dropping Moore with a nice Moonlight Drive to get the victory tonight.

Backstage Edge is showing arriving to the arena as a limo pulls up letting Edge out of the limo as Edge makes his way in street clothes towards the arena.

Gregory Helms is interviewed concerning the attack earlier on the Mexicools and says it’s just another stage in proving just how “pathetic” the Cruiserweight division is. Helms says it’s been a joke day in and day out and will remain that way. The fact he even held the title embarrasses him and he’s glad he chunked it into the Gulf. Helms is glad that he did not only Smackdown but the entire WWE fans a favor by getting rid of the title. Helms says if any Cruiserweight has a problem with him then they can take it up with him next week in that very ring.

The main event goes on next as The Big Show takes on Finlay in a rematch from a few weeks ago. Finlay and Big Show wrestle a decent match but really it’s nothing impressive. Finlay was able to pull off the win after Hornswoggle distracted the referee allowing Big Show to be struck with a shillelagh (shock ending huh?) and pull out the victory. Finlay was getting ready to leave whenever Christian ran down to the ring attacking Finlay from behind. Hornswoggle tried to interfere but Christian kicked Hornswoggle to the side as Christian and Finlay rolled around brawling! JBL came down throwing Christian off of Finlay as JBL said he had business to take care of now with Edge’s announcement coming up next and that Christian WILL NOT be allowed out here during the announcement since there might be another distraction.

Edge’s announcement goes on next as Edge makes his way down to the ramp. JBL and Finlay are in the ring already and JBL threatens Edge that if he touches JBL that he will be stripped of his title shot. MVP comes down with Ezekiel Jackson as MVP and Edge have a brief stare down for a bit. The two bicker over the controversial way that MVP won the title by stealing Rey Mysterio’s MITB briefcase literally and knocking Edge out with the briefcase before winning his first World title. MVP brags of course on becoming one of the quickest superstars to win the World-Heavyweight title and then talks about how it doesn’t matter when Edge picks his rematch, he’s going to lose no matter what the situation is. Edge talks a bit discussing when he could have his rematch but he thinks there is no better place than the Biggest Party of the Summer, SummerSlam! JBL had a contract in his hand as MVP signed the contract first before Edge signed it next! The match is on! Edge versus MVP at SummerSlam for the World-Heavyweight Championship! It’s set! Edge left the ring to end the show with MVP looking at Edge rather cockily as JBL and Finlay are left standing in the ring as well.

I realized I said I was going to do an ECW Draft on Smackdown but I decided to not do so and just post the Draft Picks here plus a few releases to cut back the roster a bit.

To Raw:

Kane
Kelly Kelly
Kenny Dykstra
Mark Henry
Michelle McCool
Tommy Dreamer
William Regal

To Smackdown:

Chris Masters
Eugene
Jamie Noble
Juventud
Kofi Kingston
Matt Striker
Test

World Wrestling Entertainment has announced the releases today of former ECW superstars Ashley Massaro, Balls Mahoney, Big Daddy V, Sandman, and Stevie Richards along with Raw Superstars Joey Mercury and Snitsky plus Smackdown superstar Sabu. The WWE wishes these superstars the best in their future endeavors.

Also as you can see I did not draft Lashley or the Great Khali to a brand due to the fact that I have no plans for them right now and they are simply going to remain on an unassigned brand. They might not be used in my thread again at all but as for now I do not need them so no reason to waste a roster space with them just sitting there.

Raw Feedback

Bischoff laying down the law sick of all the fighting between the champion and number one contenders match so puts them in a big six man tag match. Pretty logical booking nothing to special but I think its kind of weird that I am hoping they lose to hear what Bischoffís surprise is

Good to see Chavo getting the win as at this stage Marella Is only good for comedic value and he did not deserve to beat Chavo.

Mickie and Phoenix former friends now enemies and what not and they really have had a roller coaster ride and I think it will end with Mickie winning the title at the Bash

Kennedy going over Mercury and I am afraid that Mercury may become a jobber. Stick him in a tag team with someone until he is built up a bit more to be a singles star. Kennedy Cena continues to be great and the attacks continue to show the hatred between the two.

OMG I can not believe Benjamin actually got a clean victory over Punk. First off this would have been an awesome match but I just did not expect it. However I am glad it happened and I just have no idea who is going to win the ladder match at the Bash.

Backstage interaction between Hardy is good other wise there match would be based on nothing and I expect Hardy to win because it seems like Guerrero was thrown at Hardy at the last minute.

Interesting stuff to see what your doing with Burchill end what? I really have no idea but putting him in a match against the Undertaker much mean some kind of push which is not a good thing itís a great thing

Thank god you made Beth beat Candice. Much improved my ass Candice probably botched every move she did to be honest

Santino getting a title shot for losing is a bit silly but I guess thatís Foley for you always going with the faces. Marella will probably win leading to a Marella/Guerrero feud because Hardy has run his course I think.

Nice main event with Batista probably getting the most momentum just because he came in late and got the finish. Bischoff not letting them fight was good and we have a great match ready for the Bash.

Smackdown Feedback

Quite a big win for Carlito going over the IC champ after losing last week he should be happy with that. London and Haas both getting involved and the hype for the fatal four way at Summerslam is good and I honestly can not wait for the match it has a big chance to be match of the night with some great talents

JBL making the fatal four way LOL I already knew about it because I crept down to the bottom of the page. Anyway like I said before going to be an awesome match and Carlito should be worried about London because he has been defeated by him before. But I guess thatís just Carlitoís arrogance.

Nice that Jesse and Festus and The Mexicools all stayed faces and no one had to turn heel to make a good match. I donít know what Helms is thinking but he is just making himself more and more enemies kind of like how he did in 2006 IRL. I also donít know who is going to challenge Jesse and Festus as the tag division on Smackdown at the moment is a bit lack luster

Big Show seems to be a bit lost at the moment but with the interview time your starting to give him and he will go over Finlay tonight I can see big things coming from the big man soon

Nice Flair and Michaels shit and how do we know it was not Flair who did the attack??? How do we know he does not want to be the best again and he tried tog et rid of the competition. Flair/Michaels would be awesome after all.

HBK nice win and even showing Flair clapping I believe I may have picked up on a swerve you are trying to throw. I could be wrong though

MVP I could just imagine him doing the whole kicking back and relaxing thing in his luxury locker room it would simple be BALLIN. I really do love MVP as champ please make him go over Edge.

Hardy being the person representing Smackdown may make Finlay feel a bit neglected LOL anyway the right move I reckon for Jeff as he has been doing well in the mid card to upper mid card and this could be the big match he needs to become a glorified main eventer.

Morriosn against Moore. LOL Never in doubt. Once MVP has his year long reign as champ keep a face champ for a week or so then give Morrison year long reign

Helms making an open challenge and that is a bit stupid its probably going to get answered by about ten different cruiserweights

Lets not lie not the best match to be a main event but it will do and Finlay cheats to get the win and making Big Show is going to become some what of a anti authority hell raiser.

Going to be an awesome match up at Summerslam and I think MVP has to go over

Two nice recaps here KOP once again this week I preferred Summerslam a bit more which is weird since Raw has some good stuff to like the title scene and the Kennedy/Cena feud. But I just think at the moment MVP as champion makes me enjoy Smackdown a whole lot more.

* Really liked the build to the main event of the Great American Bash. Although I wouldn't have minded seeing Bischoff's surpise. I'm hoping for a title change at GAB.

* I like how Foley encourages Marella acting like a mentor to the younger folk. I think it was a good move for Chavo to take Santinos place against Hardy, it adds to the prestige of the title, and also makes the match unpredictable heading into the GAB

* The other matches were pretty basic, but served their purpose leading up to the GAB. I am hoping Kennedy gets a big win

* I like Burchill's role, not being scared of Taker or his mindgames.

I haven't followed long enough to know what to expect at the GAB, but I will defintely be reading and reviewing.

Smackdown Review

* Short matches all this evening served their purpose to put over the wrestlers.

* JBL as an authority figure is a brilliant idea, making lots of popular (and some unpopular) decisions

* Like your main-event for SummerSlam, if it is done right, it should surely be the MOTN

Default Re: WWE 2007: UTF - The Inevitable Return

Probably a shorter review than it should be, quick comments...

Interesting main event. The main eventers should walk off the cannon fodder, but with the tension between the three currently, you wouldnt rule it out. I'm guessing if one of them gets pinned they're out of the title picture.

Dont tell me you are turning Marella face?? DO NOT DO IT!!! Surprised to see a switch in the #1 Contender for the U.S Title, but in terms of wrestling ability - Chavo > Santino everytime.

Mickie vs Beth should own. Just about the best womens match out there currently.

Bit of a cowardly thing for Cena to do, ambushing Kennedy?? Little bit off. Kennedy needs to win at the PPV, and it's a match he could easily win with Cena staying strong, not needing to get pinned. Victory for Kennedy could see the birth of a new star, think about it!!!

Ladder match for the tag titles sounds awesome, especially with the talent in the two teams. Loving these two tandems leading Raw, but it's a shame this is likely to end at the Bash. Which teams can match up to the awesomeness of these two??

Odd stuff from Burchill. This push though is good. Something you've always excelled in - pushing new stars, and long may it continue. Looking forward to getting a few answers though. What did he do???

Just a filler win for Beth. Final victory before dropping the title perhaps?? I'll say it again - just about the best womens match going today Mickie vs Beth.

Is Santino just a regular nobody face?? Please no. He needs to be the over the top Italian!!! Nothing else will suffice.

Bit of heat on Batista. Doing very little in the match, but taking the pinfall victory. The build up is simmering nicely for a tremendous triple threat contest @ GAB. It's looking like a solid card too, especially for a brand only event.

*********

Loving the fact that MVP is your World Champion. That OWNS - and so does MVP!!! Does this mean Edge is a face though?? Or are we headed into a heel vs heel feud??

Nice win for Carlito, and with the talent it seems there is on Smackdown in the mid card / upper mid card region, there is an endless ream of top drawer matches at your disposal. Right now I'd assume CCC with this win is next in line for a shot ... and I'm sort of proved right. Awesome fatal four way set up for Summerslam, worthy of the event, with four of the finest athletes up and coming on Smackdown battling it out for the IC Title. Potential showstealer already.

Raws tag team division > Smackdowns tag team division. If this is the best it has to offer, it's something that needs to be rectified soon.

Going down the route of disrespect?? It's been done, but it's a good one to turn to, it's always going to come around, and who better to seek respect than a nasty 500 pound monster. Not a fan of the Big Show, but I've seen him used well in some BTBs, hopefully you'll add to that list.

Whodunnit angles are always excellent, as long as the reveal isnt a total joke. HBK is just about the best guy to go with in an angle like this. After all, whose had more enemies and made more trouble for people in the past than Michaels?? Could be a great angle if executed properly, especially with Michaels now having turned the corner in his life, making a revenge plot for past misdemeanours a great piece of karma. Early indications would be a Flair heel turn to reveal, but that might be too obvious.

Ezikeil as Porters bodyguard = GOLD. Perfect fit, and MVP is definately someone that could flourish with a big burly bodyguard doing his dirty work.

So, it's a big responsibility for Hardy @ SummerSlam. Expected JBL to announce one of his allies instead, as he'd know they have his interests at heart. It's a win-win for Hardy, if he wins, he wins, if he loses, JBL is gone, strikes me as odd that Layfield wouldnt pick someone who would bust his ass for JBL. Maybe there will be an added incentive down the line.

Dont like the Morrison gimmick. But I do like Morrison. I dont know which outweighs the other though, tbh.

Helms vs Cruiserweights looks an interesting feud. Helms trying to abolish the CW is a nice angle to go in, but I think ultimately CW division wins out. Why get rid of a flourishing division??

Surprised Finlay went over Big Show, even if it was by cheating. Christian needs to have more of a role in the thread imo. Maybe it was just a slow week for him, as obviously I havent exactly been religiously following in recent months, but he appeared like an afterthought tonight.

MVP vs Edge @ Summerslam. That's cool. It has to be a win for MVP though, as he needs to pile up wins as champion to gain his credibility. Still early days for him, and a loss this early could be disastrous.

WWE The Great American Bash
July 22, 2007 - San Jose, California - HP Pavilion
Official Theme Song - "Church of Hot Addiction" by Cobra Starship

WWE Championship - Triple Threat Match
Batista (c) vs. Chris Jericho vs. Triple H
Batista retains here, but probably loses to The Game next month at the biggest party of the summer

First Blood Match
Mr. Kennedy vs. John Cena
If Kennedy is going to transition to main events, he MUST win here. Cena can afford a loss in a match he doesnt need to get pinned. A win does little for Cena - a win does everything for Kennedy

World Tag Team Championships - Ladder Match
CM Punk and Brian Kendrick (c's) vs. The Gold Standards
Just going for the longer lasting team. I can see Punk maybe moving on following this to the US Title hunt

Women's Championship
Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Mickie James
This feud needs to run for a bit, so the champion retaining in shady circumstances is a good starting point

The Undertaker's Return
The Undertaker vs. Paul Burchill
Why the hell not?? Burchill looks to be on the cusp of something here, and a win sends that into the stratasphere

United States Championship
Matt Hardy (c) vs. Chavo Guerrero
Chavo isnt winning with so little build up

Default Re: WWE 2007: UTF - The Inevitable Return

Well yesterday was the THIRD anniversary of the thread as I started it in 2005. It's came a long way and I appreciate all the loyal viewers that have read it over the past three years. I was going to post the 'Bash yesterday in honor of the three years but my Internet was down as I switched companies but either way here's the Bash.

WWE Great American Bash - Sunday July 22, 2007
HP Pavilion – San Jose, California

The Great American Bash kicks off tonight with a video hyping the rich tradition of the PPV from years gone by including WWE’s bringing back of the PPV in 2004. The video focuses on the summer tradition of celebrating America’s independence and all that good stuff while also showing clips of the military overseas. The video then refers over to the feuds focusing on the Triple Threat Match, Kennedy/Cena, and the return of the Undertaker tonight! The video ends showing the American flag being raised high on a flag pole as we are welcomed into the arena for the first time that Raw will host the Great American Bash! JR and Jerry Lawler hype the matches on the card tonight going over all six matches that are going to take place here tonight.

Match #1First Blood Match
Mr. Kennedy vs. John Cena

Surprisingly the ‘Bash kicks off here tonight with one of the main events tonight. Seeing as there is only six matches it seems WWE is depending on kicking the night off with this very big match. Kennedy and Cena both dominate one another a lot during the match as many weapons are used such as a steel chair of course, a table was brought into play which Kennedy threw Cena into plus finally the end of the match came whenever Cena brought in his chain (he still wears it in this thread) and came running at Kennedy with it but Kennedy ducked tripping Cena face first into a steel chair. Kennedy then proceeded to grab the chain from Cena before beating Cena repeatedly in the head almost in a demented way with the chain as finally Cena was opened up and started bleeding giving Mr. Kennedy the victory here tonight in this hard and long fought battle.

Winner – Mr. Kennedy @ 18:57

The referee had to get help pulling Kennedy off Cena as security came running down as the relentless Kennedy wasn’t going to just give up. Kennedy repeatedly beat Cena as more blood came out and finally doctors came out to check on Cena. Cena had a big bandage wrapped around his head as Kennedy looked on carrying the chain with him and looking at the blood that is left on the chain as Kennedy made his way to the back escorted by security (agents).

Backstage Todd Grisham interviews the former WWE champion Chris Jericho concerning the Triple Threat Match tonight. Jericho said he’s waited patiently since losing the title at Night of Champions last month and tonight is his night. He’s realized that Batista and Triple H seem too busy with one another that he could just sneak in and win the title and well he just might have to do that! Jericho says that tonight he finally is the one that is able to “tame” the Animal that is Batista and earn his WWE title back!

Match #2Singles Match – United States Championship
Matt Hardy (c) vs. Chavo Guerrero w/ Bam Neely

Guerrero and Hardy wrestle a rather good match as these two seem to work together really well. Hardy dominated the match from the beginning but Guerrero came fighting back in the middle and got the big advantage thanks to a little help from Bam Neely on the outside. It was Bam for the second time in a row that attempted to help Chavo (Bam helped Chavo earn the number one contender’s spot on Raw this past week) but this time it went against Chavo because Bam came over towards Matt before Matt elbowed Chavo and then proceeded to hit Chavo with the Side Effect followed by the Twist of Fate for the victory!

Winner and STILL United States Champion: Matt Hardy @ 12: 28

Guerrero is going nuts at ringside as Hardy looks on from the outside rather happy. Hardy’s celebrating with his title all the way to the back as the champion continues celebrating another big victory as we are sent backstage.

Theodore Long is backstage hyping his boys up for their big Ladder Match. Benjamin and Burke state that tonight “They do this for all the colored people that have been held down” and that they will win their titles back. Long says ignore what the cracka’s say. Tonight is their night and they will indeed get their titles back.

Match #3 World Tag Team Championships – Ladder Match
CM Punk and Brian Kendrick (c’s) vs. The Gold Standards

The two teams cap off their feud with a rather scintillating tag team ladder match that turns out to be a great attraction and help boost the tag team division in the process. Punk and Kendrick both fought off Burke and Benjamin throughout the entire match and it seemed like the Gold Standards stood a good chance at retaining their gold they lost last month whenever the big “Bayou Beast” Rodney Mack interfered and took out Kendrick throwing him off the ladder and down onto the mat. But Punk responded by knocking Mack down before dropkick Mack out of the ring. This gave Benjamin a chance to grab a ladder and jump off the ropes dropkicking the ladder right on top of Punk as Punk fell down onto the mat. Burke quickly grabbed a ladder trying to climb towards the top and it took Burke a while to get towards the top but as he reached up he couldn’t grab the titles. Burke tried to grab the title but it was Kendrick that fought his way back up after being thrown down earlier by Mack. Kendrick and Burke brawled at the top before Kendrick gave Burke a good shove as Burke fell off the ladder and Kendrick grabbed the titles bringing them back to the champions as Theodore Long looked on from the outside in disbelief.

Winners and STILL World Tag Team Champions – CM Punk and Brian Kendrick @ 22:31

Kendrick threw Punk’s title down onto the mat as Punk and Kendrick celebrated their victory in the ring. Punk and Kendrick leave ringside as T-Lo helps Burke and Benjamin back to their feet as Mack walks over. Long talks to all three as Punk and Kendrick celebrate at the top of the ramp their victory here tonight.

Maria is standing by with Kenny Dykstra and Kelly Kelly. Dykstra talks about how it’s a shame ECW ended but now Raw gets to be graced with the presence with the hottest couple of the year in Kenny Dykstra and Kelly Kelly! Dykstra says Raw’s never seen such a power couple as these two and it’s going to be revealed in the next few weeks just how “deadly” these two are. Kelly Kelly gives Maria the eye as if to say “Stay out of my way” as Dykstra and Kelly walk off.

Eric Bischoff and Mick Foley are both sitting in their office discussing how the night has went so far. Bischoff is laughing about how Smackdown picked Jeff Hardy and Bischoff says he’s got the perfect idea for who can face Jeff Hardy at SummerSlam. Foley says he’s got a good idea too and Bischoff stops Foley. Bischoff says that it’s his job on the line and that he will pick who represents Raw. Foley doesn’t say anything as Bischoff says he’s already talked to this person and he’s going to have his decision for Bischoff tomorrow night on Raw.

Paul Burchill cut a short promo talking about how “The time is near” and that he’s “deeply sorry” that he has to do what must be done prior to the match. Paul Burchill waited as the lights went off and the Undertaker’ music hit…but no Undertaker? The Undertaker didn’t make his way down to the ring as the lights came back on. Suddenly they went back off again….but still no Undertaker?

Burchill stops this as he tells the stage crew to leave the lights on. Burchill says that he’s the man that is responsible for putting the Undertaker on the shelf. He’s the man that knocked the Undertaker out of action and that for the past few months he’s been “haunted” by the evil that is the Undertaker. Burchill said he did nothing to deserve this and that he won’t take it anymore. Burchill says that he MUST end what is the Deadman’s legacy and do whatever it takes to do so that way the haunting can stop. Burchill was about to leave before the music of Kane hit. Kane said if his brother Undertaker isn’t here…Kane will gladly do his brother’s dirty work for him!

Match #4Singles Match
Paul Burchill vs. Kane

Burchill and Kane brawled for a little bit as the match really didn’t get anywhere at all. The referee was forced to call it off finally about five minutes or so in thanks to…

Winner – No Contest @ 5:14

The Deadman’s return! The music of the Undertaker finally did hit and the Undertaker made his return to ringside for the first time in nearly three months! The Undertaker came down wrecking havoc on Paul Burchill as Kane and Undertaker “went to town” on Burchill teeing off on the Burchill. Burchill finally ditched the ring saying “I must end it” as Kane and Undertaker have a staredown with one another in a rather eerie segment. JR and Jim Ross hype the return of the Undertaker but also talk about how his brother Kane is here from ECW and a member of the Raw roster once again! JR and King only wonder what it will be like with the two brothers on Raw now!

Backstage Todd Grisham catches up with Triple H, the second half of the Triple Threat Main Event Match tonight for the WWE championship. Triple H responds to Jericho’s comments where Jericho stated that “Triple H and Batista seemed to have forgotten about the third person in the match” to which Triple H says he hasn’t forgotten. Triple H reminds Jericho of their history and Triple H says he’d love nothing more than to beat Jericho but he says that somebody’s got to get the title off of Dave Batista. Triple H says he wouldn’t mind Jericho as champion again, (well actually he then says he would) because the Game knows he is long overdue for another title run.

John Cena is shown in the doctor’s office as he’s asking the Doctor if he’s going to be okay and all that. The doctor tells Cena he might have had a concussion and that he needs to take tomorrow night off of Raw. Cena says he can’t do that but the doctor says that he will make sure Cena is NOT at Raw tomorrow because it is for the best.

Match #5Women’s Championship – Singles Match
Beth Phoenix (c) vs. Mickie James

Beth and Mickie get a rather decent amount of time to work tonight due to Burchill vs. Kane going REAL short. Beth and Mickie both prove just why they are the women’s division though as both women put on a good match. But it was Mickie that was able to pull off a big win tonight to seal her second Women’s Championship by catching Beth off guard with the Mick Kick after Beth confidently thought she had the match ready to end. Mickie quickly covered securing her second championship since she made her WWE debut in October of 2005.

Winner and NEW Women’s Champion: Mickie James @ 11:19

Beth can be heard yelling “It’s not over Mickie” as Mickie has a smile on her face as she celebrates her title victory with all of the fans. Mickie holds the title high in the air as the fans look on happy that Mickie pulled off another victory for her second title.

Backstage Batista is interviewed right before the main event as it’s showtime! Todd Grisham reminds Batista he interviewed the other two participants earlier tonight and they are rather confident that they stand a good chance at winning the title tonight. Batista begs to differ as he feels that he’s the one that will finally shut both Triple H and Jericho up. Batista says that he’s already shut Hunter up since he’s proved that the Game can’t win another title and that he’ll gladly do it again here tonight. Batista walks off leaving it at that.

A video package hyping the main event shows (to pass time by mainly) as we get ready for the big match.

Match #6 WWE Championship – Triple Threat Match
Batista (c) vs. Triple H vs. Chris Jericho

All three of these gladiators all stare one another down as it seems tonight that this war is finally going to end as these three men are all ready to take one another out. The match goes for nearly thirty minutes or so due to the fact that there was only five other matches before this but regardless Batista, Hunter, and Jericho make the most out of the time they were given. They make sure the fans won’t forget this match as with it being a Triple Threat anything goes. Batista speared Triple H through a table set up in the corner before Jericho broke it up. Jericho brawled with Batista a bit before Batista was smashed in the head with a chair by Jericho. Jericho went for the pinfall but Triple H found a way to break it up. These three men continued battle for even longer as it seemed Jericho was ready for the match to end after he had knocked Triple H out of the ring. Jericho proceeded to lock in the Walls of Jericho on Batista as Batista tried to fight it but the former champion had the move locked in! Jericho had Batista on the verge of tapping out before Randy Orton slid into the ring dropping Jericho with an RKO! Orton got on the mat staring into the eyes of his rival Chris Jericho (Jericho “injured” Orton in their Steel Cage Match in June) giving Batista time to recover as Batista crawled over making the cover and getting the victory.

Winner and STILL WWE Champion: Batista @ 28:17

The crowd booed Batista as he took the cheap way into retaining his title as Triple H had to look on from the outside as he couldn’t get in to break the pin fall up. But either way Randy Orton made his feelings felt tonight on Chris Jericho as the Great American Bash comes to a close with Orton in the ring staring into the eyes of Chris Jericho as Batista celebrates on the outside with JR and King going crazy because Chris Jericho was screwed over tonight.

Default Re: WWE 2007: UTF - The Inevitable Return

Great American Bash Feedback

Opening video in recap not much to really comment on. Sounded like it would have looked good though.

Mr Kennedy vs John Cena
Starting off with this match was a bit of a shock and I know you stated you wanted to start it off in a big way, I think this may have been to big. A First Blood match would never open a PPV. Sounds like a jam packed match with heaps of weapons so their were probably a lot of spots. I loved the sound of the ending how Kennedy got the chain around his fist and just kind of snapped. Very nice and very different as Kennedy is usually the cocky guy the after match attack just continued this change of character and hopefully we see a slightly more sadistic Kennedy from now on.

Jericho makes a good point saying that he could just sneak in under the guard and take the title tonight but I highly doubt it. I think he was clearly added to the match to save HHH/Batista for Summerslam.

Matt Hardy vs Chavo Guerrero
Matt Hardy I think was always going to get the win here. I stated in my predictions it seemed as if Chavo was just thrown in to this match out of nowhere with no real hype therefore he was never going to win. Our next US Champion is going to be Santino Marella I wonder if there will be any complications between Chavo and Neely???

Benjamin and Burke FTW please. Let them show the crackas

Okay so I am confused you have Matt Hardy down as the winner of the contest and even in the actual match you have the Side Effect and Twist Of Fate for his road to victory but then you had a segment afterwards with Chavo Guerrero celebrating with his newly won US Title and you mentioned Guerrero a few times so I think you made some typos

CM Punk and Brian Kendrick vs The Gold Standards

Okay so feud is now over and Punk and Kendrick stay as tag champs. I wonder what’s next for them but I more care for what’s next for Shelton and Elijah. This match would have been awesome shame it wasn’t at Sumemrslam really because it would have been awesome to read in full. Anyway everything seemed good except the ending I can not see Kendrick being able to just over power Burke on the top of the ladder. Besides that it’s all good.

You seem to really like Kenny and as much as I like him with Kelly I don’t really like him by himself and I think he is a little bit over rated. Hopefully you make him entertaining.

Bischoff already has person chosen to face Jeff Hardy and I would bet my house that it will be Matt Hardy and that you made a typo and Guerrero was supposed to be the winner of the US Title match. Could be wrong though

Paul Burchill vs Kane
I like the weird thing you got going with Burchill at the moment and Undertaker not rocking up. Please don’t tell me you were pulling our legs. Wait no you weren’t Burchill and Kane start brawling and then Deadman returns and as much as it is a good touch to have the Brothers Of Destruction back together, its Taker’s return he should be by himself.

Triple H seemed very confident here and so he should be he is The Game but unfortunately like Jericho he is not winning tonight

Cena is not going to be at RAW, YEAH and you’re my uncle I think everyone knows Cena is going to attack Kennedy.

Beth Phoenix vs Mickie James
Mickie James gets the win and I am pretty ecstatic about that because Mickie James as champion kind of OWNS. Hopefully she has a long reign as champion, check Macs thread for details

Batista interview and did I mention that he is winning tonight.

Batista vs Chris Jericho vs Triple H
Batista won in a cheap way over Jericho due to the shocking return of Randy Orton and well we already have two awesome matches for Summerslam I guess. Batista/HHH and Jericho/Orton will both be a great read and I seriously can not wait.

Overall a good show man a few little things or slip ups I didn’t like but nothing to over the top. Good PPV and I can not wait to read more

Default Re: WWE 2007: UTF - The Inevitable Return

Monday Night Raw Preview - Monday July 23, 2007
Arco Arena - Sacramento, California

Just twenty four hours removed after one of Raw's biggest Pay-Per-Views of the year, the Raw superstars make the short drive from San Jose to Sacramento as Raw airs live tonight from the Arco Arena. Many things are scheduled for this huge Raw as SummerSlam is only a little more than a month away. First off Raw co-General Manager Eric Bischoff has announced that he will name Raw's representative for the Brand Supremacy Match in which will take on Smackdown's superstar in Jeff Hardy. Bischoff said he's got the perfect person in place for the match but just who might this be?

In the Triple Threat WWE Championship Match last night, we witnessed the return of Randy Orton who was supposedly injured in a Steel Cage Match with then WWE Champion Chris Jericho. Orton seems to have exacted his revenge on Jericho costing him a shot at regaining his title. The question is was this really Orton's motive? Tune into Raw as Randy Orton kicks off Raw explaining to us what he was thinking about during the match.

WWE Champion Batista certainly came out of the 'Bash in good shape as he retained his title despite the interference ironically from a former Evolution member in Randy Orton. For weeks Batista has stated that Triple H has done nothing since Evolution disbanded and questioned Triple H if his head really is "in the game" anymore. Triple H hasn't responded yet "verbally at least." Will we hear from the Game concerning the Triple Threat Match? What will the Animal have to say about his big victory?

The Undertaker made his grand return to Raw after a three month absense in which Paul Burchill claims it was him that "took out the Deadman" Nobody even knew the Deadman was "attacked" but Burchill claims it was him. Was it really Burchill? Well Kane showed up despite Undertaker's music hitting and it was Kane that wrestled instead of Undertaker. But Undertaker showed up during the match (which ended in a No Contest) to attack Burchill but then in a rather eerie moment he stared down his brother. Who was it that supposedly attacked Undertaker? Will we find out tonight?

Plus Matt Hardy defends his United States Championship against Santino Marella, the new Women's Champion Mickie James is in the house plus appearances from many more Raw superstars on this huge edition of Monday Night Raw! Don't miss it on the USA Network at 9 Eastern/8 Central.
