Re: WWE Unleash the Fury

Pretty good opening to the show. And Szumi says my sentence structure can be sloppy
Still, was a good promo, a little meh'ish at times, but got the point across. Would've been better had a face been involved, but it seems like Rated RKO will both head into WM as champs, but neither will walk out imo. Maybe Orton.

Kash getting the win, I hope Noble loses the CW title at Mania. Not a fan of this tag feud, as they're all cruisers and it's been done for ages IRL. Still, Kash is great.

MVP is full of it. Nice promo, very much like MVP. Mmm Kristal. Keep plz. MVP could have a good run if he's in the Rumble match. Can't see him winning though.

JBL/Teddy was alright, didn't feel the JBL/Chavo promo though. Chavito needs to stay away from the mic. I wonder who he's gonna face though, hopefully someone who's gonna beat him coz Chavo doesn't belong near the top dogs.

Matt going over Kennedy is cool. Either man winning was gonna be acceptable, since they're at each other's level anyways.

Good Batista promo, Batista as a badass heel is the only way for him imo in BTB. Mac does it well, and you can do it just aswell (without the copied Wolfy layout). imo.

CM PUNK! It'd be great to see him get a Rumble spot. I'd mark. Good squash win for him here, get him over, and give him the US Title after Mania plz.

Lmao @ Kenny. Fucking jobber. He's got no chance. Kristal,

Kane beating Chavo, thank you. Wise decision. Kane in the rumble = ratings. I look forward to you not mis-using Kane in the future.

Kennedy getting a tag match next week? I can see a Hardy/Kennedy match at the Rumble or possibly at Mania actually. Either way, intruiging.

Kurt Angle heading towads the title again? I can see it maybe, although I think Edge will drop it to someone else come Mania. Good ending to the show though.

Sorry it was rushed, distracted by Szum & Mac on MSN tbh. <3.

Re: WWE Unleash the Fury

It's been a while since I've been able to review one of your shows KOP. Great way to start the Smackdown of 2007, thread time, with the World Champion, Edge. Edge is in character as always and his guest is the...WWE Champion from Raw, Randy Orton. This was a real good segment despite the fact that it was two heels, who are somewhat similar in their gimmicks. Should be interesting to see who will win the Battle Royal later on to face Edge for the World Title at the Rumble.

Kash v. Kendrick was a good match. Kendrick loses and it seems that Kendrick has been on a losing streak in some BTBs, IMO. With that said, also it seems that Noble and The Notorious K.I.D., Kid Kash are in a group, though a possible feud between the two might be taking place in this thread soon, IMO.

MVP's Promo was great as usual. MVP=Ballin'!

JBL as Smackdown GM=Ratings! JBL is golden and while Teddy, IMO, can be used in a better role, I have a feeling the feud between the two isn't over yet.

Not surprised that Kennedy and Matt put on another great match against each other. However I am surprised to see Matt get the win over Kennedy. Great match once again.

It's been a while as I mentioned at the top of this review, but is Batista a heel in this thread? With that said, great segment from Big Dave. Also, PUNK IS MAKING HIS DEBUT NEXT IN THIS THREAD!

As expected, Punk gets the win! Great match between the two, and I hope that Punk gets a good push in this thread, to help keep his credibilty over with the fans.

Kenny's promo was well written and it seems that Kenny has a "Ladies Man" type gimmick in this thread, which if booked right, can work well for him.

Not surprised to see Kane win the Qualifying match against Chavo. However I still have a feeling that Chavo will somehow get into the Royal Rumble match.

Not surprised to hear the announcement from JBL to Kennedy concerning next week's show. With that announcement it's almost a guarantee that Matt/Kennedy for the US Title at the Rumble is going to take place.

Great way to end the show. The Battle Royal was well booked, especially the final part of the match, with the way the eliminations took place! Angle vs. Edge at the Rumble in an I Quit match is going to be excellent. Great way to give Edge the momentum by mocking Angle's catchphrases to end the show!

Overall Comments: While I haven't reviewed your shows lately, I have been reading them, and it's good to see that you're writing full shows once again in this thread. Looking forward to Raw and the rest of the Road to the Royal Rumble in this thread.

Re: WWE Unleash the Fury

Gerweck.net News and Notes

WWE has announced that the official theme song for the Royal Rumble will be "Drones" by Rise Against. This is the first time WWE has used a song from the band Rise Against. WWE once again wants to thank Rise Against for the use of their song "Drones"

Plans are being thrown around for No Way Out which is going to be an inter-promotional PPV. Currently there are no plans for a title match but most champions will be on the show and in matches. WWE is looking at No Way Out now as more of a buildup to WrestleMania than ever before and feels that they don't need a few rushed title matches. There is the possibility of one or two lower card title matches but nothing has been confirmed.

WWE has been in talks with former ECW wrestlers The Sandman, Balls Mahoney, Justin Credible, and many others. WWE already has a few former ECW wrestlers on roster such as RVD, Sabu, Stevie Richards, the Mexicools, etc. However the feeling is that if RVD goes to ECW it won't be for very long as they feel he is "too" big of a star to be on ECW now. Of course this all depends on what is decided with ECW and if it comes back after 'Mania or not.

WWE is very excited for the future of Smackdown as they have many top stars over on the roster right now and many young up and comers. Management is certainly happy with CM Punk, Kenny Dykstra, and the Cruiserweights. The cruiserweights have been getting pushed for nearly a year now despite Noble having a stranglehold on the title for that year.

Speaking of cruiserweights, WWE is hoping to put them in a big feud leading into WrestleMania. Nothing is confirmed but WWE wants to reward a few of the Cruisers for their high risk style and put them on the big show.

At this past weekend's house shows, Raw had one superstar qualify for the Royal Rumble in Umaga. Smackdown had Mark Henry and Kenny Dykstra join the fray. Now this brings the total count up to 6 with Raw having 3 so far and Smackdown 3 as well.

Apparently the Randy Orton/Edge thing on Smackdown this week was a one off thing and nothing is expected to become of it.

In an update on the JBL/Theodore Long situation, Long has been expressing his feelings to "step down" as JBL's assistant on screen for a while and possibly become a manager in the near future. Nothing is certain as of right now but Long feels he can do better as a manager role as he has done in the past before with many a superstars.

The plan all along has been for Angle to win the Battle Royal. Angle is without a doubt the biggest face on Smackdown right now. Now that this will be their third match, Creative feels Edge and Angle can work something special come the Royal Rumble in the I Quit Match which hasn't been seen in WWE in a few years.

There are rumors going around that if ECW does indeed come back that WWE might end up bringing a few lower mid-carders back that they released. A few names are being thrown around that could be contacted to come back but nothing has been announced for sure.

Expect a new WrestleMania 23 video in the near upcoming weeks.

Ok thought I'd get a bit of news up before I post the Raw preview most likely either tomorrow or Thursday. Um, I've got a few reviews I need to do now in LegendofBaseball, Legend, PARANoIR, Reney, and kid. I'll work on those very soon whenever I get a chance but I'll be away for this weekend for a bit. So please bare with me. Anyways look for Raw maybe before the weekend is here.

Re: WWE Unleash the Fury

M’kay KOP. Again sorry, but hey, I told you I’d get it to you. Just like you said when you reviewed me, it’s been probably two years since I reviewed you. So understand the fact that I’m not up to speed…

Monday Night Raw

Opening commentary was decent enough. I’m one to always comment on commentary btw, as you may notice. I think it’s important. Otherwise, why the fuck write it? Tbh.

First off, everyone calls you the realism buff, which may become more apparent as I continue to follow. But to start off, RVD as the champ from Mania through year’s end is not realistic. Also, RVD & Sabu playing the “feuding with WWE Champion and his monster partner” type role is certainly not common. Kudos for that KOP. It’s a rather refreshing top dog scene, which eliminates any negative perceptions I had coming in…for now.

Coach was decent enough on the mic, although your sentence structure was wordy and bordering on run-on at times. Two qualifiers is cool, and Coach’s contractual obligations for Raw are interesting. McMahon coming out and vetoing Coach’s announcement kinda stunk actually, since I thought it made for an interesting stip. Giving Coach an ultimatum and all that though was okay. Looks as though this will certainly lead to Coach losing his job as GM, which is totally cool with me.

Hardy over Masters for the Royal Rumble is just fine. What the hell is the master slam though?

Cryme Tyme segment was good overall. Few minor wording flaws early on, but the Melina line was classic. And for god sakes, write out the word ASS! The way the promo ended, by creating an obvious start to a tag team angle with Flair/Haas was pure though. Gave the whole thing purpose, which is the way it should be. Being a Flair worshiper though, I am not sure what I think of him and Haas yet. Any explanation of why and how?

Burke + Benjamin = GOLD. Awesome team, and loving the fact that you seem to be emphasizing some tag team shit tonight. Burke over jobber = shitty booking tbh. It’s not the way to get him over, as this isn’t 1987, it’s 2007. Triple threat tag title match?

You really should add more to words imo. “Welcome to Raw is Jericho” just does not give to me what “Welcome to … RAAAAW … IS … JERRRICHOOOOO!!” Not even that exaggerated, but come on, you know what I mean. That said, Jericho was on point in this. HBK as guest was good, and Jericho editing out HBK was pure awesomeness. HBK and Jericho having another match is fine by me. Good call by Coach there. This segment could have been GOLDEN. But it was good enough for what is was to accomplish. Jericho was far better than the very bland and dialogue reduced HBK.

Melina over Candice = right decision.

Very, very intriguing phone conversation involving Orton. Someone is coming.

WrestleMania commercial was entertaining, and rather creative on your part. Made Umaga look like an absolute buffoon.

Triple H over Val Venis? Come on with that. Glad to see Hunter in the Rumble, although the matches tonight have been highly weak tbh.

Flair promo had a couple meh’ish paragraphs tbh, but it was a solid message overall. Pity he will lose next week. At least it’s to a decent enough wrestler. The end of it was good, and I love the “Suplex Specialist” name for Haas.

RVD’s bland non-promo’ish ass may have just cut the best promo of the night for me. I feel that maybe Sabu is gonna turn! Not sure. We’ll see though.

Main event matchup was perfectly booked, with the champ and challenger not coming into contact, and with the heel champion ending up wielding a chair in the end. DQ finish and Orton’s stare down of RVD were awesome. Royal Rumble is up in the air atm, which is good. RVD aint winning though. I still say Sabu turns on him, and they go at it in WrestleMania 23. Also, Orton takes the title to the main event of WrestleMania. Whether he loses or retains is totally unclear at this point though.

Good Show KOP. I’ll be getting to Smackdown probably in two days or so man, no time tonight.

Re: WWE Unleash the Fury

KOP's SmackDown! Feedback

OMG, I actaully think that was the smuggest opening heel segment I have ever read Ha ha, it was great to see Edge and Orton toasting themselves as the creme de la creme of the WWE right now, completely establishing the dominance over Rated RKO over both brands of the WWE. Edge's lead in was great, and the way he interacts with Randy is always good fun. Interesting to note that when Edge was listing the guys in the Battle Royal tonight that "I don’t give a DAMN!" about, he didn't mention Kurt Angle. Kurt's the guy getting the shot though imo. Solid opening.

Blimey, so now Jamie Noble is going after the WWE Tag Team titles as well? Awesome. There has been no one else {other than Kid Kash} who deserves to take the CW belt off him, so I hope his reign goes past a year. Londrick are much better as challengers chasing the belts in all honesty, so i hope they drop them soon. Deuce and Domino plz.

MVP is now a completely cemented fixture in the WWE and this thread, unlike the last time you posted a show in full Nice little interview with Porter, but as i said in Mac's thread, he needs a feud. I don't think he'll win the Battle Royal tonight, but i would definately mark.

JBL ... drinking beer? No, no, this is a man of class now; not a member of the APA The business with Long as JBL's assistant just seems a bit TOO similar to what is happening in the 'E' right now i'm afraid, and JBL wasn't entertaining at all. He should be gold as the GM. The Chavo Guerrero segment got me hoping that he might be in line for a push, but judging from JBL's reaction, it looks as though Chavito will be getting jobbed out.

With a Hardy/Kennedy feud I really struggle to know who to root for, since i love them both. Hardy getting the win makes for an excellent U.S title match in the future. I hope if it's at the Rumble you still keep both men in the RR match, as they could do with big performances there.

Nice little promo from Big Dave. Everyone who's anyone doing a WWE thread seems to be turning 'Tista into an intense, monster heel ... but you did it first Major props for that. I love angry Batista as a heel, as it makes his promos enjoyable. I doubt he'll win the Battle Royal tonight {although he make it into a Triple Threat}, but I can see him playing a MAJOR role in the RR match and setting up a feud.

Nice video package for Punk, and it's great to see him FINALLY debut in this thread. I remember you hyping him last year and he never came Great that he's using the Anaconda Vise too, as submission finishers > all.

I know you mark for Kenny, KOP, as i remember your banner from ages ago. He's pretty bland on the mic, but this was a solid promo. "“Ladies Man”" is a fairly horrible gimmick, but it's a gimmick nonetheless, and that's what Dykstra needs. You mark for him, so a push is obviously coming.

Yup, as I thought really, Chavo just gets jobbed out to a bigger guy than actually looking like someone worthwhile. Obviously Kane will be in the Rumble, but i doubt he'll do anything.

Wierd segment from Kennedy. He's a chickenshit heel, so why the hell would he want to put his title on the line against Hardy? Just seems a tad odd is all. Matt and his partner will obviously win that match next week. I'm hoping for a KK/JBL alliance.

Decent Battle Royal Main Event, but I must admit, I really hate it when the Cruiserweights get thrown out first. Guys like Kenny, Kash, Londrick and Noble should have looked more credible in my opinion. Lol @ MVP and Hardy eliminating each other; they're clearly meeting at the Rumble. No real surprise to see Angle getting the win, as he has been feuding with Edge one and off for the better part of half a year. Nice little closing speech from Edge {although I didn't like Angle's pointless input}, although, much like the Kennedy scenario, why would Edge {a chickenshit heel} want to face a nut like Angle in a "I Quit" match? It will be awesome, no doubt about that, but it just seems like some wierd booking is all.

Overall this was a vey solid show, KOP, and only your second full one in this thread for a LONG time. There were some good promos {opening} and feud advancement. Some odd booking let it down though, as I have expressed above. Good job though

Re: WWE Unleash the Fury

WWE Monday Night Raw Preview
Monday January 8, 2007
St. Louis, Missouri

Hometown Hero?

This week Raw rolls into St. Louis which is interestingly the hometown of WWE Champion Randy Orton! Orton has told us that this week he will be having a big Hometown Welcome Party and everyone is invited. Orton has said that many guests will be on hand for this party and a few surprises will be there too. What all does the champ have planned for his hometown welcoming party?

Jeri-Tron No Longer

There is no Jeri-Tron anymore. But that is the least of the concerns of Chris Jericho as he finds himself heading into tonight's Raw with one goal. Revenge. Jericho and Michaels haven't meet one on one since Vengeance of last year but Jericho says that he can see himself headlining WrestleMania in the near future. However first he must get past the one and only Heart Break Kid which won't be an easy task? Can Jericho get the win or will HBK roll into the Royal Rumble in three weeks with a major win?

"Flair for Gold"

The World Tag Team Champions Ric Flair and Charlie Haas both might have their toughest challenges yet. In there way of keeping the titles are two men, Shelton Benjamin and Elijah Burke. Though Burke is a relative newcomer to Raw he has proved that he is one impressive athlete in the ring. The former boxer can do just about anything and was impressive in his win last week. This week though if Benjamin and Burke can walk away with two wins in singles matches this week, then Benjamin and Burke will receive a future tag title shot.

Ok I'll share some thoughts and comments on both Raw and Smackdown.

On Raw, yes Hardy is still the Intercontinental Champion.

Paranoir, yes I did mean that Orton "ditched the ring" Completely my fault there.

Onto NatureBoy. The Master Slam is very similar to the MasterLock (basically a Full Nelson Slam) Eh, normally i type out ass but for some reason decided not to. Don't ask me why lol. Ok onto Flair! Haas had tag team sign ups back in September (thread time) Well Haas had trouble winning singles matches so therefore he had sign ups. Nobody signed up but Flair offered to sign up. They went on to win the tag titles and have been champs since Unforgiven. It's kinda like a protege storyline. Eh I thought of the name Suplex Specialist myself! Thanks!

Now onto Legend for Smackdown.

I saw where you mentioned MVP needs a feud and all. Well that will be settled after the Rumble but as you know msot of the times people don't have feuds going into the Rumble. However trust me that will become of soon after RR. Eh look for something more from Chavo. It wasn't a one time thing. Kenny is the man. Face it.

Ok about the Kennedy thing. It was supposed to come across in that he is so desperate to get his hands on Hardy that he'd even put his title on the line. Guess that didn't come across as that to you.

I had thought about having Angle ask for the match but basically Edge was wanting to prove to the fans that he can beat Angle in any environment. He's yet to beat Angle one on one so far to my knowledge in the thread so he needs to prove himself and what not better than to beat the holy hell out of Angle and make him say "I Quit"

We'll thats it. Ok I got the Raw preview up so look for that maybe as early as tomorrow. However now I've got a few more reviews to do to return so be looking for those this weekend. Once again thanks.

Re: WWE Unleash the Fury

Monday Night Raw
Monday January 8, 2007
St. Louis, Missouri

Raw kicks off tonight with the Doctor of Thuganomics in the ring as he talks on the mic for a bit about how after he gets into the Royal Rumble match that he is going to win it all and walk right into WrestleMania 23 and headline the biggest event of the year once again. Cena gets ready for his match as down comes the monster Snitsky. Snitsky gets into the ring and both men put on a decent match but it gets very little time, as Cena was able to overcome the attack of Snitsky. Cena quickly finished Snitsky off with an F-U after Snitsky missed the Big Boot and Cena advanced onto the Royal Rumble in grand style.

We take our first break and we come back we see Maria standing by with the Women’s Champion Victoria. Maria asks Victoria how it has been being the Women’s Champion for six months. Victoria says it’s great but that she needs someone to step up and actually give her a challenge. Maria says she can’t think of anybody that Victoria hasn’t defender her title against but Victoria gives Maria a smug look. Victoria then says “I haven’t defended it against you” as Victoria walks off and Maria looks a bit worried but kind of excited that she might have a title match.

In Burke’s only second match here on Raw he gets to play with the big dogs as he takes on one half of the tag champs, Charlie Haas. Haas and Burke get a decent amount of time in the ring to showcase their skills and the “Suplex Specialist” Haas was able to use his wide array of suplexes to catch the rookie off guard. Haas caught Burke with the three Germans before he got back up ready to hit a Fisherman’s Suplex. Burke however was quick to knock Haas down with a kick to the back of the head and then followed it up by hitting the Elijah Experience right in the middle of the ring. Burke quickly covered Haas after Haas made a mistake and Burke gets the win in his second match on Raw. We quickly see Benjamin watching on the monitor and smiling backstage.

We cut backstage once more this time to see Jeff Hardy talking backstage with his brother Matt from Smackdown! Matt says that this week he’s got a tag match on Smackdown and that he needs a partner! Matt is trying to hint at Jeff to be his partner and Matt finally asks him. Jeff says of course that he’d do anything for his brother. And the commentators hype up the fact that the Hardy’s reunite again this week on Smackdown.

We come back from the break once more and this time we see the number one contender in the ring, Rob Van Dam! RVD takes on Test tonight in a match that gets a decent bit of time to mainly hype the title match for the Royal Rumble. Matt Striker tries to interfere towards the ending but instead RVD hits a swinging dropkick using the ropes to send Striker flying back into the barricade back first. RVD then turns around to see Test charge at him but RVD rolls around Test and rolls him up but gets only a two count. Test then gets back onto his feet to charge right back at RVD again who this time hits a Spinning Heel Kick. RVD then quickly launches himself onto Test with the Rolling Thunder and follows it up with the Five Star Frog Splash for the win! RVD celebrates with the fans as JR and King hype the title match at the Royal Rumble.

Once the match is over we head backstage to see Armando Alejandro Estrada hyping up Umaga backstage. Estrada says that all twenty-nine men have been put on warning that Umaga is here and he is here to win the Royal Rumble. Estrada says that there is no reason for any of the other twenty-nine men to even show up because of the fact that Umaga will simply manhandle them! Estrada then says that at the Royal Rumble the fans will be witness to Umaga’s destruction first hand. Estrada points to Umaga but the lights flicker on and off for a bit. Estrada and Umaga ignore them as they walk off.

We head backstage after the break to see Randy Orton preparing and on the phone with many people trying to prep himself for his welcome home party tonight. Orton bumps into a few people “friends” on TV as Orton simply shakes their hand and walks off. He walks into his locker room and picks his phone up to see “one missed call” on the screen before he dials the number and then proceeds to dial the number. Orton talks to this person whom we can only assume he talked to last week and Orton says that he’s not needed tonight. Orton hangs the phone up and walks back out of the locker room as we head into the arena.

In the fourth match of the night we get another Royal Rumble qualifying match that pits MNM against Cryme Tyme. The match doesn’t get that much time considering the fact that we’ve still got two matches to come and then the party. MNM quickly works over JTG and Mercury takes advantage over Cryme Tyme after kicking Shad off the ropes as MNM both pair up and hit the Snapshot to secure their spots in the rumble match in three weeks.

We come back from another break to see Triple H backstage. Hunter talks about how he’s heard enough tonight about who is going to win the Royal Rumble but the rest of the WWE needs to face the facts. Hunter says that he’s got the odds in his favor because he’s endured a Royal Rumble match unlike many other superstars that will be in there. Hunter says sure there will be others that have won but that there is only “One Game” in there and that is him. Hunter says that come the Royal Rumble it will be “Time to Play the Game.”

The fifth match pits Ric Flair against Shelton Benjamin in which turns out to be a rather exciting contest. However it gets pushed back in time considering the fact that the main event needs a bit of time as Flair and Benjamin get about eight to ten minutes in the ring. They work their magic though with the small amount of time given and in the end it’s Benjamin that was able to reverse the Figure Four Leg Lock and get back up and roll Flair up by grabbing the tights and the ropes to win the match and give Benjamin and Burke a tag title match at the Royal Rumble.

We take another quick break before Maria interviews Jericho briefly asking him about his match next. Jericho says that payback is a bitch and that HBK needs to be worried about Jericho. Jericho says that HBK made a big mistake last week and that he messed with the wrong guy. Jericho walks off after staring down the camera.

The main event takes place in which it pits Chris Jericho against Shawn Michaels in a grudge match. Both men get a decent amount of time in the ring. Palumbo got kicked out from ringside very early on in the match after he tried to help Jericho but the refs didn’t want anything to do with Palumbo here tonight in this big match. Jericho was able to take a big advantage in the match after Michaels missed a Diving Elbow and Jericho proceeded to then work on the back of Michaels. Jericho did everything he could to wear down HBK and it came into full effect whenever Jericho was able to lock in the Walls of Jericho. Jericho was so close to forcing HBK to tap out but in a last ditch effort HBK was able to grab the ropes and continue the match. Jericho got HBK back onto his feet and sent HBK into the corner. Jericho charged in but HBK quickly moved and as Jericho came out of the corner, Michaels dropped Jericho with Sweet Chin Music before falling flat on top of Jericho for the win!

The night ends with the Randy Orton “Welcome Back” party. Orton has a big party with food, guests, and many friends in the ring with him. Orton says that it feels great to be back in St. Louis after having to travel and stay in many shitty cities across America. Orton talks about how tonight he’s got a few guests. First off he introduces his dad Bob Orton! Bob Orton comes down and talks about his son’s title win back at Survivor Series and how proud his son has made him. Bob ends up in tears (obviously faking it) saying that he wouldn’t ask for a better son than Randy! Randy thanks his dad and gives his dad a seat as next to come out turns out to be the World-Heavyweight Champion Edge! Edge comes down and says that it’s great to be back here on Raw. Edge talks about how his partner and friend Randy was able to help Edge and both men became world champions at the same time. Edge says that he had a gift put together for Orton and it shows a video of Orton decimating his opponents and closes out with the win in the Elimination Chamber for his title. Orton thanks Edge as Orton then finally says he has one more guest. Orton then introduces out the former owner of ECW? Paul Heyman? Heyman comes down the ramp sharing a smile with Orton as Orton and Heyman give one another a handshake. Heyman says that back when he was GM on Smackdown that he had tried his hardest to get Randy to come to Smackdown but Randy never could. Heyman then says that he’s very proud of the accomplishments that Randy has done on Raw and Smackdown and congratulates Randy on coming back to his hometown. Paul then says that just like Edge he has a surprise for Randy. Randy wonders what it is and Heyman points to the ramp as down comes a bunch of former ECW wrestlers in Sabu, Balls Mahoney, The Sandman, Justin Credible, Al Snow, and many others come down the ramp to crash the party as Randy ditches the ring. Orton heads out of the ring as Heyman says that last week Randy tried to attack RVD but that for now on Randy better be careful because now ECW is BACK!!! The fans cheer as Heyman announces ECW making its fore coming return as the show comes to an end. RVD comes down and celebrates with all the originals as the show closes.

Quick Results:

Royal Rumble Qualifying Match: John Cena def. Snitsky
Elijah Burke def. Charlie Haas
Rob Van Dam def. Test
Royal Rumble Qualifying Match: MNM def. Cryme Tyme
Shelton Benjamin def. Ric Flair
Shawn Michaels def. Chris Jericho

Friday Night Smackdown
Friday January 12, 2007
Peoria, Illinois

Smackdown opens tonight with Smackdown GM JBL coming down the ramp. JBL talks about how already three of Smackdown’s superstars have been determined for the Royal Rumble but that two more will be decided tonight. JBL first hypes tonight’s Contract Signing and then decides to bring someone down to the ring. JBL introduces his assistant Theodore Long who comes down to the ring and JBL talks to Long. JBL and Long get into an argument for a bit about how JBL has treated Long for the past two months since he was appointed Smackdown GM and JBL said that he has had enough! TEDDY LONG IS FIRED! Long says that is fine as he walks right out of the arena as JBL then says that he has just taken out the garbage here on Smackdown! JBL then closes out the segment by talking about the future of Smackdown and says that now Long is gone that Smackdown will rise to greater heights than ever before!

The first match of the night takes place as CM Punk wrestles in only his second week on Smackdown against Funaki. Punk puts up a good fight against Funaki who never really got a chance to get into the match as Punk was able to hit the Flying Clothesline and then follow it right up with the Running Bulldog. Punk then quickly proceeded to hit the GTS and then lock in the Anaconda Vice for the submission win once again this week.

After the match we head backstage to see Mark Henry being interviewed. Henry talks about how at the Royal Rumble he will decimate the competition and that he will prove to each and every one of these Smackdown fans that he really is “The World’s Strongest Man” Henry talks about how he is going to finally become the king of the jungle and rise to the top as the “Silverback of the Smackdown Jungle”

We take a break to come back and see MVP backstage. MVP talks about how tonight he will become the richest man in that ring at the Royal Rumble. MVP reminds all of the fans that he has only been on Smackdown for seven months but in those seven months that he has quickly shot to the top and made a name for himself. Porter talks about how big his name already is but that once he wins the Royal Rumble they might as well enshrine him into the Hall of Fame then because he will be big! MVP closes it out with “ballin” as he walks off.

The second match of the night takes place as it’s Paul London and Jamie Noble going one on one after Kash snuck away with a win last week over Kendrick. Kendrick and Kash both got into it at ringside but Kendrick and Kash get into it once again which leaves Noble and London to fight it off in the ring by themselves. Noble makes a big mistake as he tries for a Tiger Driver but instead London was able to kick Noble in the back of the head and drill him with a DDT before heading to the top and hitting the London Calling! London quickly pins Noble. We suddenly get word that Smackdown GM JBL has booked London vs. Noble next week for the Cruiserweight title in Noble’s anniversary of his one-year title run.

After the match we head backstage to see “The Ladies Man” Kenny Dykstra walking around and wooing the women. Dykstra bumps into Ashley Massaro backstage and Dykstra and Ashley flirt for a bit. Dykstra tells Ashley that he’d love to have her at ringside with him next week and Ashley says that she might just have to consider that offer. Dykstra walks off as Ashley smiles as the fans wonder what has gotten into Ashley.

We then quickly cut backstage this time to see JBL talking once again to Chavo Guerrero. Guerrero begs JBL for another chance but JBL says he can’t do that. About this time in walks the United States Champion Mr. Kennedy! Kennedy says he is yet to find a partner and JBL says he has an idea. How about tonight Chavo and Mr. Kennedy team together to take on the Hardy’s. Chavo and Kennedy have never teamed together but both men shake hands with one another as they known that they are on a common bond here on Smackdown.

Our third match takes place as MVP takes on The Miz in a brief Royal Rumble Qualifying Match. Miz gets a bit of offense in but misses big time with the Modified Running Corner Clothesline. MVP then quickly grabbed Miz and pulled him off the ropes before dropping the Miz in the middle of the ring with the Playmaker and then getting the win. MVP therefore now has qualified for the royal Rumble match in three weeks time. MVP taunts the fans as he slaps the mat and does his little walk forward before doing the “Ballin” taunt as he walks out of the arena afterwards.

We head backstage after the break to see Batista walking around. Batista walks over and Kristal stops him. Kristal asks him a few questions and asks Batista how he is feeling heading into his Qualifying Match next week. Batista says that he is on a mission to prove that he doesn’t need the fans. He is here for one reason and that is HIMSELF! Batista says that next week he will run right through his opponent whomever it may be but that they have now been warned.

The fourth match of the night takes place as Rey Mysterio meets William Regal in a Royal Rumble Qualifying Match. Mysterio and Regal get a decent bit of time in the ring with one another as Regal came oh so close to qualifying for the match. But things turn bad for Regal after he missed the Power of the Punch as Mysterio was able to hit the Springboard Crossbody and then roll back over to dropkick Regal right into the ropes. Mysterio bounced off the ropes before hitting the 619 and then successfully leaping off the ropes to connect the West Coast Pop to get the win and become Smackdown’s fifth superstar to qualify for the match so far!

After the next break we quickly get back into the arena for the main event that pits the Hardy’s teaming together in an Inter-Promotional Match against Mr. Kennedy and Chavo Guerrero. If the Hardy’s win then Matt gets a US title shot at the Royal Rumble. Mr. Kennedy tries to put up a good fight against Matt to prevent this as Kennedy begged for this match last week and it shows as Kennedy shows no remorse for Matt. Kennedy has Matt backed into the corner as he just sits there and knees Matt repeatedly. Kennedy then quickly drops Matt with a snapmare and then picks Matt up before tagging in Chavo. Chavo leaps over the ropes connecting with a Hilo before grabbing Matt and hitting the three amigos! Chavo heads to the top rope as Chavo leaps off and miss the Frog Splash! This gives Matt time as Matt runs over and tags in Jeff Hardy! Jeff runs in and dropkicks Kennedy off the ropes and Jeff goes on the offense of Chavo. Jeff dropkicks Kennedy once more this time with the baseball-sliding dropkick. Jeff then quickly hits a Twist of Fate on Guerrero before Matt gets down as Chavo falls into he corner. The Hardy’s hit Poetry in Motion before Jeff climbs to the top and hits Chavo with the Swanton Bomb. Jeff then tags in Matt as Matt drops Chavo with the Twist of Fate and gets the win earning him a US title shot at the Royal Rumble!

We close the night out with the Contract Signing for the I Quit Match at the Royal Rumble. Edge comes down first and talks about how in sixteen days time that it will be Kurt being the one that says “I Quit” Edge says that he has never muttered those two words before and that he never will as long as he lives. Edge then finally signs the contract as then JBL brings out Kurt Angle. Angle sits down and gets ready to sign the contract before Edge asks him if he really wants to do this. Edge says Angle has no clue what he is getting into at the Royal Rumble. Angle says correction he does! Angle says that he’s fought everybody in the WWE and that he just might be the craziest SOB that works for the WWE. Angle says that instead it’s Edge who doesn’t know what he is getting into as Angle grabs the pen and signs the contract. Angle then gets ready to leave but as he does Edge ambushes Angle from behind with the title and delivers a beat down on Angle. Edge grabs Angle and throws him into the middle of the ring before he ends up suplexing Angle right through the table. Angle’s body collides with the table as it crashes and Edge shows a sadistic smile as Smackdown comes to a close.

Quick Results:

CM Punk def. Funaki via submission
Paul London def. Jamie Noble
Royal Rumble Qualifying Match: MVP def. The Miz

Re: WWE Unleash the Fury

As promised...

Cena with a predictable win, to qualify for the Rumble match. The one thing that proves to be a drawback on qualifying matches for the RR is that for quite a lot of them, they are very predictable in terms of winners. Anyways that's a big contender for the Rumble slotted in nicely.

You must be thin on challengers for the womens title. Maria is in line for a shot now . Six months for Victoria as champion seems like a strong reign, and certainly one that could run through a few more months, at least to WM.

Burke & Benjamin as a tag team sounds awesome. A feud with Flair and Haas sounds great too. A really great tag team feud to build the division on, with two world class wrestlers, the greatest of all time, and a promising rookie. I see a title match coming imo.

Why do I get the feeling you may be planting seeds for a Hardy Boys feud?? Hard to tell from a recap - it could well just be reuniting for ratings.

Ahh, the memories come flooding back now. Matt Striker the Teacher, managing Test. Awesome stuff Not surprised he lost here though, with RVD getting some exposure ahead of RR.

Umaga to win the Rumble, please . Lights flicker ... hmm ... I wonder ... what could that possibly mean.

Strange little segment for Orton...

MNM > > > Cryme Tyme. Of course they go over. Looking forward to their participation in the Rumble Match.

That could well have been a really strong promo from The Game. Sounded very HHH-esque, which of course is a good thing. I dont think he'll be winning the rumble match though.

Surprised to see another singles match between the tag champions and challengers. This one though gives the challengers a title match at the Rumble, and it all looks to be going swimmingly for them right now.

Interesting pairing of Jericho and Palumbo. Dont suppose you could explain how that one came together?? Michaels with a win to add to his momentum, but again, he doesnt strike me as a potential winner, despite the event coming from his home town.

And I see you went with the ECW return. Well executed here, and Heymans disciples make a big impact, but like I said to you on MSN, just make sure the ECW group doesnt get lost in the shuffle.

Hard to tell how good a show would be via recaps, but despite the odd grammatical error here and there, I enjoyed my first show in this thread in a long time.

Long fired to open up SD. Good. Long as a heel manager > Long as a referee > Long as a wrestler > Long as a GM. Even in an assistant role, he sucks. Giving him the boot from that role frees him up to do something decent now, and means you dont have to follow the real life SD GM angle.

Punk goes 2-0. I reckon you'll be pushing this guy hard, but it'll be interesting to see whether you wait until after WM, or go for a push right from the get go.

Mark Henry to win the Royal Rumble and headline WM. Unlikely. I kinda like him though

Not sure what you've done with MVP, but hopefully he's been made to look good. If not, hopefully he begins to get pushed now . Long run in the RR match please.

I love irony. And it would be really ironic if Noble lost the CW title exactly one year after winning it. It would be even sweeter if it's London to do it Should be a decent contest, as you'd expect.

Ahh, push for Kenny. Ladies man gimmick sounds decent. Maybe team him with Val Venis if the singles push doesnt work out. I hate Ashley though.

Okay, question. Why did Matt Hardy ask Jeff to team with him, if there wasnt actually a match already set?? Chances are, I've missed something, but that seems a little odd.

MVP advances, in what I'm guessing was a heel vs heel match?? I'll repeat my line from earlier ... long RR run for MVP

Batista as heel is a lot more interesting than Batista as face. Good call. If I'm thinking rightly, he might've already turned when I was last reading this thread. Glad to see an extended heel run for him.

And Mysterio disposes of Regal to seal his place in the Rumble. Y'know, I havent followed this thread in a long time, so I may be way off, but Mysterio strikes me as a possible RR winner. At least a genuine contender for a shock win.

Oh, think I've figured it now. Matt needed a partner for a match against Kennedy and a partner?? Makes sense to me know. Hardy and Kennedy at the Rumble sure has potential to be a decent undercard match.

Contract signings always end in tears. I Quit Match at the Rumble sounds awesome. Hope the feud has been strong enough to warrant such a heavy gimmick match to support it. Angle and Edge have had terrific matches in the past, and with all hell to break loose in this one, it could well top all their previous encounters.

I'll be trying to drop in as often as possible.

Re: WWE Unleash the Fury

WWE.com News and Notes

"ECW is Back!" Those three words were muttered by Paul Heyman announced the formal return of ECW this past Monday on Raw. Heyman brought a few ECW superstars with him to Raw this week to the disdain of the WWE Champion Randy Orton. Now to update on the ECW situation, we here at WWE.com can confirm that ECW already has sixteen superstars on their roster. These superstars in alphabetical order are: Al Snow, Balls Mahoney, CW Anderson, Danny Doring, Justin Credible, Juventud, Nunzio, Psicosis, Roadkill, Sabu, Sandman, Stevie Richards, Super Crazy, Tajiri, Tony Mamaluke, and Tommy Dreamer. Most notable of these superstars are the fact that Juventud, Tajiri, and Tony Mamaluke have all been resigned by WWE. Also making moves from Raw and Smackdown to ECW were The Mexicools, Nunzio, Sabu, and Stevie Richards.

In the process of the ECW roster being signed, Smackdown lost four superstars. Smackdown's roster has been cut down but there will be a few debuts soon.

In addition to ECW coming back, we can confirm that Mr. McMahon has announced that Paul Heyman has the rights to select one superstar from Raw and one from Smackdown. However Mr. Heyman cannot pick a champion and Mr. Heyman will be able to reveal his picks on the first ECW which will air on Sci-Fi on Tuesday January 30 at 10/9 CT.

We can confirm that a Draft will take place this year after last year's "Open Season" Smackdown's roster has taken a major shaft so far but that looks to all be fixed come the Draft. Most likely the Draft will end up taking place in some time between April and June. It has been rumored that this could be the biggest draft in WWE history.

Plans are being thrown around for WrestleMania 23 and they have just changed a bit due to the fact that ECW is officially back now. It was kept very quiet backstage about this but now it has changed a few plans. However this does not change the fact that there will still be 10 matches at WrestleMania most likely unless something comes up.

Looking at the Raw side of things heading into WrestleMania, their card is pretty much set. The main thing though is concerning what Smackdown will offer at 'Mania in one of their lower card matches. However the biggest problem occurs in what ECW is going to do. There are all types of rumors going around for this match but nothing is set yet. It seems a plan won't be set until maybe after Royal Rumble or possibly No Way Out.

Finally to close out about ECW, it is going to be used as a mixture of breeding grounds/extreme hardcore action. It seems that most superstars that aren't ECW originals that get sent to ECW will get shipped off to bigger and better things after their run on ECW that way to not interfere too much with the purpose of ECW.

Many names are being considering for the winner of the Royal Rumble and a winner has been picked. However there are two people that could win it and anything is possible. It seems though that most likely the person that has been selected will end up winning the match.

Ok, needed to get that bit up about ECW. Here is the plan for ECW. It's been planned for nearly a year or so but I held it back. I had planned for entering it after I did One Night Stand II last year but held it off. Either way once it debuts I'm going to simply just recap promos (since there aren't many) and just do matches as normal and post it with Smackdown. It's only a one hour show and it won't take as much work so I'm really looking forward to it.

Ok look for the Raw Preview up Thursday or Friday and Raw up this weekend maybe. Until then, I'll be trying to dish out reviews.
