Shame that Matt Hardy lost at the Rumble, you seemed to habe buried him the last few months from what I have seen. Everyone bar RVD retaining was a good move as you didn't really need any changes when the titles matches aren't the spectacles of the night. I would have liked to seen RVD win at the 'Rumble and then Edge steal a victory at No Way Out. I see a big feud for RVD soon, I hope he doesn't get jobbed at 'Mania though. Christian turning up on Smackdown was a big inclusion for the brand and I am sure you will make this work and with Edge and Christian both winning the main event at 'Mania (with a tantalising HHH/Cena encounter) should be awesome as they can both work well. I liked Matt dumping Jeff out of the Rumble instant heel heat and that has to be a match at 'Mania. (TLC plz) Cena winning the Rumble was expected but I would have liked Umaga to have made more of an impact. 'Mania should have an awesome card with a possible Rock/'Tista match and also Taker/Lesnar.

Sorry if it wasn't in chronological order, I just wanted to jot a few notes down for your recaps.

FD, first off it's good to see that you have returned to this thread. Over the past week, I've read through the recaps in this thread, and it seems like the buildup for Mania is going to be great. As a fan of Matt Hardy, I'm kind of disappointed that he lost the title, but he lost it to another great wrestler, Triple H. As a fan of both Matt and Hunter, I hope that Matt is booked in a great match at Mania. As far as the other storylines in this thread, everything seems to be booked well. While the Edge v. Christian storyline has been done before, it should be interesting to see how you make this feud more original.

Here's the first match announced for Wrestlemania, along with the accompanying details about the feud leading up to the match. The next match should hopefully be posted tomorrow.

World Heavyweight Title
Edge (C) w/Lita vs. Christian w/Tyson Tomko and Maria

• After Edge defended his title at No Way Out, and Christian won the fatal 4 way to become the number 1 contender, this match was set in stone as Smackdown’s main event for the ppv.

• The two had previously had some interaction on Smackdown before No Way Out... Christian debuted on Smackdown by interrupting an edition of the Cutting Edge to state that there is a new revolution on Smackdown. At the time he congratulated Edge on winning the title and for turning over a new leaf, and we even saw a reunion of Edge and Christian when they teamed up to take on Rob Van Dam and Randy Orton.

• After No Way Out there was more heat between the two of them, yet they both remained face to begin with. Christian cut a promo about how great it felt to once again be going into Wrestlemania to challenge for the title, and made the point that last year he won a world title and that Edge lost a world title. Edge came out and told Christian that although it happened last year, history will not repeat itself. Edge told Christian that they may be brothers, but that won’t stop him kicking his ass if that is what he has to do to keep the title. Christian said the same about Edge and although they shook hands, there appeared to be some tension between them

• Week 2 saw Edge and Christian continue their war of words. Edge started the show by showing a series of home videos of Edge and Christian as children and then when they started wrestling together. The videos showed that although they were close, it was always Edge that got the win in the matches they had. Edge then talked about their careers in the same way... he was the first to win a title, the first to win a World title, the first to main event a PPV etc. He says that this is why he will retain the title at Wrestlemania, because he has always been the better brother.

• Later in the show Christian was scheduled to face Rob Van Dam in the main event, which he won after hitting him with the Unprettier. Edge then came out and applauded Christian before offering to shake his hand. Christian accepted and the two of them locked eyes with each other

• Week 3 saw Mick Foley announce a series of matches for Saturday Night Main Event, one of which would be Christian and Maria against Edge and a partner of his choosing. This led Edge to cut another promo on Christian, talking about how Christian no longer sees Edge as his best friend... that is now Tyson Tomko. Edge continues to try and make Christian seem like the bad guy in this, until Christian points out that Edge abandoned him first, and said that Tomko was there when Edge wasn’t

• Saturday Night Main Event saw Lita make a re-appearance as Edge’s partner. Lita, who left the WWE to work with her band, returned to the WWE and scored the pinfall over Maria in the tag team match. Edge and Christian were brawling outside the ring when this happened.

• Edge was booked to face Tyson Tomko this week and suffered a shock defeat when Christian cost Edge the match after hitting him with the title belt. This was in revenge for the fact that Edge had insulted Maria earlier in the show. The war between the two men started to get physical as Christian ended the show holding Edge’s title belt in the air

• The penultimate week before Wrestlemania saw the show begin with a Christian produced video... it had Tyson Tomko as the narrator, while Christian and Maria dressed up as Edge and Lita. Midway through the video Edge and Lita came to the ring and cut off the video, saying this is exactly what you’d expect from Christian. He said that Christian could never take anything seriously and his attitude could ruin Wrestlemania for him. Edge said that this is the biggest match of the year yet Christian is just making unfunny parodies. Christian then came to the ring and said that he is deadly serious about winning the title, and is just trying to add a bit of humour to the show. He shows another home video, this time of Edge never being able to take a joke as a child, while Christian was always the more popular of the two.

• Later in the show Edge and Christian teamed up in the main event against Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton, only for the match to fall apart when Edge accidentally speared. Christian believed that Edge did this on purpose and chased after him, while back in the ring... (this match will be returned to in future previews as something else happens involving Orton and Lesnar)

• On the final show before Wrestlemania, Christian said that last week Edge showed his true colours when he speared him during their tag team match. He says that everyone remembers Edge as the bad guy and last week he showed that this nice guy act is just a ruse. Edge came out and then said that he didn’t mean to Spear him at all, but he’s now wishing that he did it again and again. He says that Christian just showed his true colours... the whiny character who feels he needs to be popular. Edge says that Christian couldn’t take the fact that he was more popular and so he felt the need to assassinate his character. Christian responded by saying that he doesn’t just feel more popular, he knows that he is... to which the crowd cheer as Christian got a bigger pop from the crowd when he asks them. Again, Edge doesn’t appear to like this and tells them all that it doesn’t matter what the crowd thinks, he knows that he will retain the title at Wrestlemania. Christian says he doesn’t think so, as Edge is running scared... he says he will win the title and once again be World Heavyweight Champion, and that’s how he rolls! Christian then walks away from Edge, while Edge looks pissed off in the ring

Street Fight for control of the WWE
Vince McMahon w/The McMahon family vs. Eric Bischoff w/Jonathon Coachman
Stone Cold Steve Austin as special guest referee

• This match has a lot of history behind it. From the on-set on the Monday Night Wars to the hiring of Eric Bischoff as Raw GM, they have never seen eye to eye on anything. Throughout Eric’s time as Raw GM he was constantly upstaged, embarrassed and taken advantage of by Vince McMahon.

• After losing to John Cena back in June, Eric Bischoff was fired as Raw General Manager, only to re-appear after Summerslam.

• Eric Bischoff’s team won a match at the Survivor Series to ensure that he was allowed to appear on Monday Night Raw again, but the following night Eric Bischoff announced that he won’t be exercising that right while Vince McMahon is in charge.

• At New Years Revolution Eric Bischoff appeared and challenged Vince McMahon to a 1 on 1 match at Wrestlemania, telling him that this needs to be sorted out man to man.

• Eventually Vince McMahon decided to address Eric after weeks of ignoring him and the fact he had made the challenge. Vince said he wanted nothing to do with Eric, until Eric started showing up on Raw again, only this time acting as if he was the General Manager. Vince came down to the ring and told Eric that at Wrestlemania he was on... but he wanted to add a few stipulations. Vince told Eric that the match would be a street fight, which was fine with Eric. Vince then said that if Eric loses, he is never allowed to appear on WWE Television again, which again Eric agreed to. But then Eric came in with a counter-offer. If he wins the match, he is re-instated as Raw General Manager, which Vince agreed to. But Eric hadn’t finished, saying that he will re-instate himself as general manager, because if he wins, he wants control of the WWE!

• The following week Vince made an appearance to formally accept the challenge after talking it over with his family. Vince said that the WWE has been his life, and after Wrestlemania he still expects it to be his life. He says that he has been waiting a long time to kick Eric Bischoff’s ass, and that is what he will do at Wrestlemania. Eric Bischoff then showed up and asked Vince why he didn’t show up when he first made the challenge, back in WCW? He says that Vince is scared of him as he knows that he cannot beat him.

• Vince re-appointed himself as permanent Raw General Manager, but Eric Bischoff started to be a pain in his side after he started to bribe the referees to call the match at Wrestlemania in his favour, talking to various wrestlers about how they would benefit from him being in charge of the company. Eric made promises to various wrestlers that they would get title shots etc if they helped him out at Wrestlemania.

• Vince wasn’t happy with this and threatened to fire anyone who was caught speaking to Eric Bischoff, which led to Linda McMahon coming out. She said that although she hopes her husband wins, as the CEO she has to remain impartial. She says that she has decided to strip both men of any power they have until Wrestlemania for the good of the company. She also announced that the match needed to have a special guest referee to avoid any controversy... leading to STONE COLD STEVE AUSTIN RETURNING TO THE WWE. Austin said that he was the perfect choice to referee the match as he couldn’t give a rat ass about either man. He said he was going to call it straight down the middle and if anything untoward happens, he would open up a can of whoop-ass on them. Austin was then appointed temporary GM of Raw

• Jonathon Coachman pledged his allegiance to Eric Bischoff and challenged Vince to a match, saying that Eric was the only man to ever give him any kind of respect in this business. Instead, Shane McMahon made a return to accept the challenge, and later that night he beat The Coach in a street fight. Shane said he would be in Vince’s corner at Wrestlemania, while the Coach would be in Eric’s.

• 2 weeks before Wrestlemania Eric Bischoff cut a promo saying that although they may not like it, he will be a better owner of the WWE than Vince. He recalled all the highlights of his WCW days, before mentioning some of the lower points of the WWE’s history. He then showed a video detailing Vince’s worst bits, including him turning on Shane, Stephanie and Linda at various times. He then appealed to the 3 of them to think deep down about what Vince has done to them. He tells Shane to think about how he put him out of business, he tells Stephanie to think about the I Quit match they had, he tells Linda to think about all the times Vince embarrassed her by making out with other women. Eric then says if he wins, he will give the McMahons 50% of the WWE... as long as they support him at Wrestlemania.

• The final show before Wrestlemania saw Vince talk about his long history with the WWE, only for Eric to be in the sound truck and mix up the videos, showing ones of Vince screwing Stone Cold Steve Austin. He then shows some more videos of Vince screwing over Bret Hart, Hulk Hogan etc and then says that without Vince, the WWE would be a better place to be. He then mentions that out of the list of people that he has spoken to about being in his corner at Wrestlemania, at least one of them has defected to the Bischoff camp. He tells Vince that just like at WCW, he has kicked his ass... and at Wrestlemania, he will kick it out of the WWE for good.

Both of those matches for Mania should be awesome! When are you going to start posting shows in full again, cause i have heard either after Mania for SummerSlam.

99% likely to be after Wrestlemania, although with me nothing can ever be certain

Batista vs. Kurt Angle

• Neither man appeared to have anything specifically on their agenda going into Wrestlemania. Batista had been defeat at No Way Out in the number 1 contenders match while Kurt Angle had been in limbo after losing at the Royal Rumble.

• Kurt Angle has spent some time re-establishing himself on Raw, beating the lower card wrestlers each other, while he was crying out to get himself involved in a bigger match at Wrestlemania

• The night after No Way Out Kurt Angle cut a promo saying that it was a travesty that he didn’t look as if he was going to be at Wrestlemania. He says that he is an American hero and one of the greatest wrestlers of all time, and yet no-one was willing to face him at Wrestlemania. He was interrupted by Batista who came out to and told Kurt Angle that if he wanted an opponent, he had one in him. Batista told Angle that it looked like he had nothing to do at Wrestlemania, but he would be happy to shut Kurt Angle up.

• The match was signed the following week with Kurt Angle telling Batista that although he wasn’t planning on facing him at Wrestlemania, it will do as a stepping stone towards his return to the main event. Angle told Batista that he may be the big shot on Smackdown, but that means nothing to him. Angle reminds Batista that the last 2 years Shawn Michaels and Rey Mysterio have both thought they could get the better of him, only to be proven wrong. Batista tells Angle that he is not HBK or Rey... he is the Animal, and just like Angle he has a point to prove. He says he should be in the main event, but he’s not, so instead he will take it out on Angle. The segment ends with Angle hitting the Angle Slam to Batista, but Batista getting back up to his feet.

• The next 2 weeks sees each man dominate on their own brand, picking up wins against inferior opponents, only for Kurt Angle to attack Batista after one of his matches with a steel chair. Angle beats down Batista and then attacks the ankle of Batista, hitting him with repeated chair shots, before making him tap out to the ankle lock.

• Batista is unable to show up on the following weeks show due to his injury, leading to Angle coming out instead and proclaiming that he has tamed the animal, and then gone onto destroy it.

• Final Raw before Wrestlemania saw Batista show up on Raw and challenge Kurt Angle to come to the ring and face up to what he did. Angle refuses to come out, saying he has proven his point and doesn’t want to injure Batista anymore so that Batista hasn’t got any excuses for his loss at Mania.

• A match is booked on Smackdown as Batista teams with ??? against Kurt Angle and ??? (again, to be revealed later on when that match is announced), ending with Batista hitting the Spinebuster to Angle during the match. Batista then goes for the Batista Bomb, only for Angle to slip out of it and lock in the Ankle lock on Batista, damaging his fragile ankle even more going into the Wrestlemania match.

It's currently looking like being 12 matches. They are 2 that potentially could be cut from the card as they are the weakest matches (including todays match), but I want them both on the card as it gives it a more well-rounded feel (and 1 match has already been cut)

Here's today match... nothing spectacular... but tomorrow's will be... possibly the biggest match on the card outside the title matches (and could even be bigger than them)

Tag Champions vs. Tag Champions
MNM w/Melina (C) vs. Londrick (C)

• MNM have held the WWE Tag Team Titles since beating D-Generation X for the belts in September. Londrick have held the World Tag Team Titles since Armageddon when they beat XXX in a Ladder Match

• MNM claimed that they had beaten every team there is to beat on Raw, offering up a weekly challenge to any team that thought they could win the title, but all of them came up short. After Londrick retained their titles at No Way Out, they offered to accept the challenge from MNM, only to have it turned down as they weren’t on the Raw roster

• Mick Foley though thought it was a good idea, and he used his powers as Smackdown GM to make a challenge to Raw that both brands tag team champions would meet at Wrestlemania in order to find out who is the better team. Londrick were eager for the match to be made official, while MNM seemed a bit reluctant to face Londrick

• After the match was announced, we saw matches between London and Mercury, and Nitro and Kendrick, with London and Nitro picking up the wins, both times due to the interference of their partners

• Both teams also remained undefeated in action of their particular brands, so they looked strong going into the ppv.

• They only met in tag team action once, that being on the final show before Wrestlemania when Batista and Londrick took on Kurt Angle and MNM. They match ended with London hitting the 450 splash to Nitro to get the win and send Londrick into Wrestlemania looking the stronger of the two teams

Current Wrestlemania 23 Card

World Heavyweight Title
Edge (c) w/Lita vs. Christian w/Tyson Tomko and Maria

Tag Champions vs. Tag Champions
MNM (c) w/Melina vs. Londrick (c)

Street Fight for control of the WWE
Stone Cold Steve Austin is the Special Guest Referee
Vince McMahon w/The McMahon Family vs. Eric Bischoff w/Jonathon Coachman

Kurt Angle vs. Batista
