SS was solid, Cena beating Christian and then the following night Hardy winnin the title was a shocker, I'm not keen on Matt as a main eventer with the belt, too green on the mic for me. Anyways, solid results all round. Trish > Mickie. And an Undertaker vs Umaga feud could be interesting. Although it worries me that there is no Triple H around and the Tag Belts aren't up for grabs in that Gauntlet Match or whatever it is you've booked...

I'll leave more comments tomorrow.

I thought about it for a while and eventually decided that the heel turn with the MITB was the best way to give him the title, as it doesn't involve him actually having to win the title in a match and so make the previous champion look weak. He might not be the best on the mic, but he's solid enough, and at the moment is feuding with Cena and Christian who can carry some of the work for him.

Triple H is not on the card mainly as I couldn't find an opponent for him... everyone else had their little feuds that needed to be finished, so he got left out. So I effectively gave him a couple of weeks off to rest and then come back stronger (he returns the following night)

Tag titles aren't up for grabs in the gauntlet match because D-Generation X are the tag team champions (I'm sure I mentioned it - if not, they beat Christian and Tomko just before Summerslam to win the belts). The winner of the gauntlet match becomes the number 1 contenders to the belts

Unforgiven 2006

CM Punk def. JBL – JBL was in control of the match for the majority of it, working on the injury he gave Punk on the previous Raw, but Punk battled back and rolled up JBL from nowhere to get the win and to piss off JBL even more. Punk had suffered an arm injury on Raw, and so JBL spent a lot of the match working on the arm, but Punk was strong enough not to have to give up. JBL eventually went for the Clothesline from Hell, but Punk caught him with a knee to the face and then the Shining Wizard. JBL kicked out on 2, but Punk then rolled up JBL and got the 3 count with a win from nowhere

Gregory Helms def. Hardcore Holly – Helms picked up the win over Holly in a short filler match when he hit the top rope ddt to Holly. Holly had put up a decent effort against the up and coming Helms, but could never get into a position to hit the Alabama Slam, and the top rope ddt from Helms was enough to finish him off

Mickie James def. Trish Stratus via DQ – Trish retain the Women’s Title – Mickie won the match, but probably didn’t know a lot about it as it came when Trish nailed her over the head with the Women’s title as she was frustrated that she was unable to pin Mickie, so decided just to get out of there with the title and draw the DQ.

The Undertaker def. Umaga in a street fight – In a brutal street fight, the Undertaker got the win over Umaga when he nailed him with the Tombstone Piledriver onto a steel chair. The match had earlier seen some brutal spots, when Umaga had shoulder charged The Undertaker through a glass window, and then when Taker got revenge by chokeslamming Umaga onto the steel steps, before Tombstoning him onto a chair to get the win. Estrada had also taken some punishment, being chokeslammed outside of the ring. Umaga had hit the Samoan Spike to Taker, but he managed to kick out of it, and then sat up, showing that he is the deadman.

MNM def. Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch, Charlie Haas and Val Venis, The Highlanders, The Teachers and The Mexicools to become the number 1 contenders to the tag team titles – MNM ended up winning the match after hitting the Snapsnot to Super Crazy. Earlier we had seen The Highlanders eliminated by Lance Cade and Trevor Murdoch, who were then eliminated by Charlie Haas and Val Venis, who also took out the Teachers. MNM then beat Haas and Venis, before pinning the Mexicools to win the match and get a shot at the titles

Shawn Michaels def. Rey Mysterio – In a 25 minute classic match, HBK did get the win over Rey Mysterio, hitting him with the sweet chin music as Rey leapt through the air. HBK then pinned Rey to get the win, but even he had to respect the effort that Rey had put into the match. HBK dominated the earlier going of the match, but Rey had battled back until a low blow from HBK turned the tide. HBK managed to connect with a diving elbow to Rey, when Rey was laying on the Spanish announce table and HBK was on the top rope, but Rey managed to kick out on 2. HBK then missed his sweet chin music attempt, and Rey battled back, eventually hitting the 619 and the Hurricanarana, but HBK kicked out at the very last moment. Rey also managed to drop the dime, but HBK kicked out again, as did Rey after a moonsault from HBK. In the end, Rey hit another 619, but as he leapt off the top rope, HBK hit the sweet chin music, which got the 3 count

Maria won the diva fashion contest, just because she is so over with the fans, and because Christian and Tyson Tomko came out ahead of the WWE Title match

Matt Hardy def. John Cena and Christian to retain the WWE Title – Hardy managed to retain the title in a long contest, pinning Christian after Cena had planted him with the FU, Hardy hit the top rope leg drop to get the win. Cena hadn’t got the strength to make the cover after earlier being put through an announce table, while Hardy snuck back into the match to make the cover. The match began with Hardy wanting to duck out of the match and hiding on the outside, but Christian and Cena kept throwing him back into the ring, beating him up a bit, before Hardy escaped again. Eventually the alliance between Cena and Christian collapsed and the two of them started to brawl across the ring, both of them scoring near falls on each other, before Hardy returned to the ring, only to get thrown straight out. But Hardy took Cena out with him and then started to brawl with him around the table. Cena took control and went to FU Hardy through the table, but Christian stopped him, and then helped Hardy double suplex Cena through the table. Christian and Hardy then went back on the ring, and Hardy almost scored the win with the side effect. He then went for the Twist of Fate, but Christian countered it and hit the Unprettier, only for Shannon Moore to pull the referee out of ring. The crowd booed, but Tyson Tomko then took out Shannon Moore, doing his job as the problem solver. Matt Hardy then hit Christian with the WWE Title and covered him, but John Cena recovered and broke up the count. The crowd erupted as Cena started the fightback, nailing the 5 moves of doom to Matt Hardy, and then planting him with the FU, but Christian broke up the count this time. Christian then hit the Unprettier to Hardy, but Cena broke up the count before it could be finished. Christian and Cena then battled it out, and Cena managed to hit the FU to Christian, but he couldn’t make the cover, as Hardy hit the top rope leg drop to get the 3 count, just before Cena could break it up

CM Punk def. JBL at 9:29
Gregory Helms def. Hardcore Holly at 3:39
Mickie James def. Trish Stratus via DQ at 8:21
The Undertaker def. Umaga in a street fight at 15:56
MNM won the tag team turmoil to become number 1 contenders to the tag team titles at 12:30
Shawn Michaels def. Rey Mysterio at 27:01
Maria won a diva fashion contest
Matt Hardy def. Christian and John Cena to retain the WWE Title at 30:27

No Mercy Build Up

RVD was now a champion for the first time, and spent the first couple of Smackdown’s celebrating this fact. He and Paul Heyman started to run the show on Smackdown, not letting anyone get near to a title shot, but unfortunately half the roster started to come after him. In the end, it was the Rock who became the number 1 contender, winner a battle royal when he eliminated Brock Lesnar to get the title shot. RVD was appalled that he would have to face the Rock at No Mercy, especially as the Rock said that it was time for the title to finally come back to him. The Rock pinned RVD on 2 occasions going into the ppv, but RVD got his revenge on the last Smackdown when he put the Rock through the announce table with the 5 star frog splash, showing that RVD can take out the Rock

The man who lost his title at Summerslam, Batista had a score to settle with Randy Orton, the man who cost him the title. Orton again cost Batista a chance in his rematch for the title when he caused a DQ, saying that he was tired of guys like Batista getting title shots just because they are friends with Mick Foley. Orton said that he wanted to teach Foley a lesson, and that just happened to be by costing Batista the title. Batista was pissed off at set about destroying Orton, and mentioned the fact that when they were in Evolution, it was Batista who was always being groomed for stardom, and Batista who has had the better career. He mentions that Orton has only held the title once, and messed up every chance he had. It was set that they would meet at No Mercy, but there appeared to be a lot of hatred between the two.

Brock Lesnar was the surprise new US Champion after beating Carlito at Summerslam, but that didn’t stop Carlito coming after him as he wanted to prove that he belongs in the same league as the likes of Lesnar. But Lesnar eliminated him from the battle royal, and then pinned him in a rematch the following week. Lesnar told Carlito that he was nothing more than an idiot with stupid hair, which appeared to light a huge fire inside Carlito, as he destroyed Lesnar’s dressing room, and then his car. Lesnar was forced into wanting to take on Carlito again at No Mercy, and once again the US title would be on the line.

Edge again believed that he was being screwed out of getting a title shot as Mick Foley banned him from the battle royal for the attack he put on him a few months ago. Edge carried on with this, claiming there is a vendetta against on, only for AJ Styles to tell Edge to shut his mouth, and that he needs to earn an opportunity in the ring. Edge appeared to take AJ’s words to heart, and told AJ that once he destroys him at No Mercy he will deserve a title shot again.

Mr. Kennedy started a new rivalry with Kane out of the fact that Kane chokeslammed him at Summerslam, saying that no-one treats Mr. Kennedy that way, especially not big red freaks like Kane. Mr. Kennedy didn’t seem to want to face Kane at first though, coming up with excuses as to why he couldn’t fight him, only to have Mick Foley tell him to fight Kane or he would be fired. Kane got his hands on Mr. Kennedy eventually and chokeslammed him again, leaving Kennedy wondering what he had got himself into.

Kid Kash finally became the new Cruiserweight Champion, ending the reign of Paul London when he pinned him on the Smackdown after Summerslam, but soon had a new rival in Chavo Guerrero he was fed up of the attitude that Kid Kash had picked up on Smackdown.

XXX turned heel when they attacked Paul London at the end of a 6 man tag match, furious that London had lost them the match. XXX continued to attack London, but eventually he was saved by a returning Brian Kendrick. They set up a tag team match at No Mercy with the titles on the line.

Jeff Hardy would take on Shelton Benjamin at No Mercy as well, with the winner getting a US title shot on the following Smackdown, a stipulation added on the night just to give the match a bit more heat. The two men had earlier started the feud as Shelton was fed up of not being talked about, and Jeff came to shut him up.

No Mercy Card

Rob Van Dam (C) vs. The Rock

United States Title
Brock Lesnar (C) vs. Carlito

World Tag Team Titles
XXX (C) vs. Londrick

Cruiserweight Title
Kid Kash (C) vs. Chavo Guerrero

Randy Orton vs. Batista

Edge vs. AJ Styles

Kane vs. Mr. Kennedy

Jeff Hardy vs. Shelton Benjamin

No Mercy results, and the lead up to Survivor Series to be posted at some point over the weekend

No Mercy 2006

Edge def. AJ Styles when he nailed him with the Spear to get the clean win after a hard-fought match between the two of them. Surprisingly Edge didn’t try to cheat at all throughout the match, and almost fought as if he was a face, even resisting the temptation to do something when the referee was accidentally knocked out. AJ Styles had almost got the win when he hit the Spinal Tap and the Pele Kick, but Edge kicked out on 2, before managing to hit the Spear out of nowhere to get the win.

Jeff Hardy def. Shelton Benjamin when he hit him with the Swanton Bomb off the top rope, meaning that he will get a shot at the United States title on Smackdown. The match was full of high flying moves and high spots, including Shelton hitting a leaping suplex when Hardy went for a Swanton earlier in the match, and Hardy getting his payback when he managed to flip out of a T-Bone Suplex and hit a dropkick in mid-air. This then helped to set up the Swanton, giving him the road

Kid Kash def. Chavo Guerrero with the brainbuster to retain the Cruiserweight title. Kash had managed to avoid all that Chavo had thrown at him, including kicking out of the Gory Bomb, before finishing him off with the brainbuster. He had earlier missed a moonsault attempt, but he recovered to keep his title and prove he is still the best cruiserweight around

Brock Lesnar def. Carlito to retain the US title when he caught Carlito in mid-air and then hit him with the F-5. Carlito had put up another great effort, but just fell short of regaining his title as Lesnar had managed to survive everything that he threw at him, including kicking out of the backcracker. Carlito had also hit Lesnar with the title belt at one stage, but Lesnar kicked out after the referee had recovered from being knocked down. Lesnar hadn’t managed to dominate this match like he did at Summerslam, and Carlito was in control of the match when Lesnar caught him with the F-5 to end the match and Carlito’s dreams

Mr. Kennedy def. Kane when he hit him with the microphone that lowered from the ceiling while Kane was going to chokeslam him. Kennedy had earlier failed in all of his attempts to take down Kane as he couldn’t hit him with the Green Bay Plunge, and nothing that he threw at him could beat Kane. However, Kennedy had managed to avoid Kane for the most part of the match, not letting Kane nail him with the chokeslam, until the match came to an end when Kennedy used the Microphone to end the match

Batista def. Randy Orton via DQ when Randy Orton hit Batista with a steel chair in front of the referee after he was unable to end the match. Batista had earlier kicked out of the RKO, so Orton just used a chair shot to end the match. Orton then decided to go for another RKO on Batista to emphasise the point, but Batista countered the move and hit a huge Spinebuster to Orton , and then nailed him with the Batista Bomb to take Orton down, before leaving the ring, although it didn’t seem as if he had totally taken his revenge on Orton yet. Earlier in the match we had seen Batista score a 2 count after a spinebuster, which was as close as he had come to winning the match before Orton’s RKO, which Batista kicked out of.

London and Kendrick def. XXX to become the new World Tag Team Champions when Paul London hit the 450 splash to Elix Skipper, after Kendrick had hit him with the sliced bread #2. London and Kendrick couldn’t believe they had taken the titles off XXX, who blamed the referee for their loss, as afterwards Daniels hit the Angel wings to him. London and Kendrick had been dominated for most of the match, but London got the hot tag which led to him and Kendrick getting the pin to win the titles

Rob Van Dam def. The Rock to retain the World Heavyweight Title after hitting him with the 5 star frog splash. However, Paul Heyman had a huge assist as he had hit the Rock in the back with a steel chair when he was going for the People’s Elbow. The distraction proved enough to change the tide of the match, as while the referee was dealing with Heyman, RVD hit the Van Damninator to the Rock, and then hit the 5 star frog splash onto the chair to get the win. Earlier in the match, RVD had managed to kick out of the Rock Bottom, while the Rock kicked out of the 5 star frog splash the first time he was hit with it.

Edge def. AJ Styles at 13:38
Jeff Hardy def. Shelton Benjamin at 8:21
Kid Kash def. Chavo Guerrero to retain the Cruiserweight title at 7:39
Brock Lesnar def. Carlito to retain the US title at 18:03
Mr. Kennedy def. Kane at 11:29
Batista def. Randy Orton via DQ at 16:30
London and Kendrick def. XXX to become the new World Tag Team Champions at 10:00
Rob Van Dam def. The Rock to retain the World Heavyweight Title at 19:39

Lead up to Survivor Series

Matt Hardy is still the WWE Champion, but he appeared to be running out of ways that he could survive with the title. After refusing to defend his title against anyone other than his handpicked contenders, he made a speech saying that he didn’t need to face any of the supposed big-names as he had beaten them all in the past. After getting to the Undertaker, and recalling how he destroyed him time and time again, the Undertaker came out and Tombstoned Matt Hardy. Vince, who had grown tired of Hardy’s rants and behaviour as champion just declared Taker the number 1 contender to the title, and told Hardy he would face him at Survivor Series. Matt said he would prove how easy it would be to beat Taker by sending Shannon Moore to face him, only for Shannon to be annihilated and sent into hospital with injury. While Hardy was visiting Moore in hospital, Taker used his magic tricks to cut the lighting, and when it came back on Hardy had been knocked out. Hardy looked to be about to lose his title, but on the last Raw before Survivor Series, Matt Hardy hit a twist of fate off the stage to the Undertaker, looking as if he could deal with him.

Hardy was no longer a double champion though, as CM Punk had beat him to become the new Intercontinental Champion, due to an assist from the Undertaker.

Eric Bischoff made a shock return to Monday Night Raw by sitting in the front row for one of the events, but was right behind the commentators, and had brought a megaphone with him. Vince was forced to come out and invited Eric into the ring, telling him that he was banned from Monday Night Raw indefinitely... only for Eric to tell him he can’t do that and that he will regret that decision.

Eric Bischoff didn’t show up the following week, but the week after that the show couldn’t begin on time as Eric Bischoff had set up a blockade outside the building meaning that no-one could get into the building, and so the show couldn’t begin. He said that he wanted to talk to Vince, and Vince told Eric that he was not welcome at his shows any more, only for Eric to say that unless he got what he wants, the show wouldn’t start that night. Eric said he wanted to do things fairly, and challenged Vince McMahon to a match in a traditional Survivor Series fashion. He said he would challenge him to a 6 on 6 match, and if he lost, he would disappear from Raw forever, but if he won, he would be allowed back on Raw. Vince accepted the match and signed the contract, but then played his trump card... Eric was still banned from appearing on Raw, and so couldn’t enter the building to recruit people for his team.

However, this didn’t stop Eric Bischoff appearing on TV as he often showed up outside the building, and also appeared twice on Smackdown to hype the match and to try and sign superstars for his team. The first man who was announced on his team was the returning Booker T, who had been out for a while with injury, saying that Bischoff offered more opportunities that Vince was. He was soon joined by Gregory Helms, when Bischoff reminded him about how well he had done on WCW, and how little he had been allowed to achieve under Vince McMahon. He then hired MNM to be on his team, after they had become the new WWE Tag Team Champions (beating D-Generation X to win the belts due to some help from John Cena and Rey Mysterio), and then picked up Brock Lesnar from his second trip to Smackdown, telling him that it was the best way to get himself back into the World Title picture. And finally, on the final Raw before Survivor Series, Kurt Angle made a surprise re-appearance from injury to announce he would be on Eric Bischoff’s team, saying that Bischoff was a man who respected him, and that’s why he wanted him back on Raw.

Vince’s team started by Christian saying that he wanted to help Vince get rid of Bischoff, and so Vince named Christian his team captain, leading to Christian picking Tyson Tomko as the first member of his team. After a promo where Eric Bischoff ripped into the WWE, Hardcore Holly stepped up to defend it and joined the team, and then JBL joined, after he was insulted by Bischoff. After Lesnar was added to the match, Carlito showed up on the next Raw and asked to be in Vince’s team, just to get some more payback on Lesnar. The 6th and final man was Shane McMahon, who made his first appearance on Raw in years when he came back to help defend his father.

DX and Cena didn’t appear to have ended their rivalry either, especially when Cena and Rey Mysterio cost DX the tag team titles. Cena and Rey appeared to develop a bit of a friendship, united by their hatred of DX, and told them they were ready for them at any time. They were joined by CM Punk, who incurred the wrath of DX after shocking HHH in a non-title match, leading to DX beating down Punk. Vince announced that at Survivor Series there would be a 3 on 3 elimination match between the two teams, leading DX to try and find a 3rd member for the night, only for them to choose the most random person; Umaga! This led to do a few skits where they tried to incorporate Umaga and Estrada into DX, although really they want him as he had only ever lost 1 match.

Also on Raw, the rivalry between Trish Stratus and Mickie James over the women’s title continued, but Mickie just seemed unable to win the title, which Trish finding a way to screw her out of the title at every opportunity. But Mickie won a last chance match against Trish on Raw to give her one final shot for the title at Survivor Series. And then she won a tag team match against Trish and Britney, enabling her to choose the match type, which she did by choosing a cage match. Trish was furious that she wouldn’t be able to just escape with the title, while Mickie knew she would finally get a fair shot at the title

Over on Smackdown, there would be no title match at the ppv, as their main event would be a 5 on 5 match between Paul Heyman’s team and Mick Foley’s team. Foley still had his problems with Randy Orton, and Rob Van Dam and Paul Heyman were also causing trouble for him. The two of them formed a small alliance, and challenged Foley to a match at Survivor Series, with the stipulation that if Foley lost he would have to give up the GM role on Smackdown. Foley eventually accepted the match, and recruited the Rock, Batista, Paul London and Brian Kendrick to his team. Heyman picked RVD, Randy Orton and Triple X, but had to be replaced on the final Smackdown when he produced a doctor’s note to suggest he was too injured to compete at the ppv, and instead he picked Kane as his 5th man.

Mr. Kennedy continued to talk as if he was the biggest star on Smackdown, showing the footage of him beating Kane at No Mercy to suggest that he would be getting a shot at the title soon. He continued to go and on about this, until Edge finally interrupted him and told Kennedy to shut up. Edge said that Kennedy hadn’t done anything to deserve a title shot, and if he wants to prove he deserves one he has to do his talking in the ring. Edge told Kennedy that he also wanted a title shot, but has learnt that he has to earn one as just whining about doesn’t work anymore. Both men had something to prove with them both wanting to get back in the title picture, and they would meet at Survivor Series

Finally, the United States title would be on the line when Jeff Hardy would defend the belt against Shelton Benjamin. Jeff Hardy won the title when he beat Brock Lesnar, but with the help of Carlito, but was immediately focused upon by Shelton, saying that he had unfinished business with him. Shelton defeated AJ Styles to be the number 1 contender, and he would get another chance to win the title at the ppv

Just read through all of the recaps; pretty solid stuff. Couple of things though.

~ I get that Britney is supposed to be Trish's sister, but in 'reality' is she an OVW talent or any chick we would recognize?

~ Rather loaded rosters on both sides and that doesn't seem to be slowing down or changing anytime soon. Pretty 'unspectacular' champions consider the stacked rosters.

~ Mickie over Trish PLZ~! ...

~ ... and Ric Flair.

I'm sure I mentioned who she was when she was first called up to the main roster... but unfortunately I can't remember which OVW chick I used for her...

The rosters are loaded, but after Wrestlemania they will be slowing down with a few people leaving the WWE. I don't like the fact that the rosters are loaded, which you can see by the fact that people often seem to have random breaks for a month or so.

Ric Flair... interesting to see you mention him... he supposed to be retired, but you know that wrestling retirements are never permanent...

Survivor Series 2006

Team John Cena def. Team D-Generation X when John Cena was the sole survivor after making Triple H tap out to the STFU, after nailing him with the FU. The match had begun with a flurry of action, with all 6 men getting in the ring and providing a flurry of action. Punk was given a few minutes to show himself at the start of the match, and nearly eliminated HHH after the Shining Wizard, only for HHH to fight back and hit him with a pedigree to eliminate him. Umaga was the next man to be eliminated, as although he tried to dominate Cena and Rey, he couldn’t manage to get a pin on one of them. Umaga then got hit by an FU from Cena, which led to Rey hitting the 619 to him, then dropping the dime to score the shock pinfall. HBK then eliminated Rey when he hit with a surprise sweet chin music, but as he taunted Rey as he left the ring, Cena rolled him up from behind to eliminate him from the match. HHH and Cena then battled with each other for 7 minutes, with HHH kicking out of the FU, and Cena kicking out of the FU. Cena forced HHH to tap to the STFU after hitting another FU to him, and HHH couldn’t reach the ropes, despite struggling towards them.

Jeff Hardy def. Shelton Benjamin to retain the US Title when he rolled up Shelton after countering out of a T-Bone Suplex attempt. Shelton went for the T-Bone, but as he lifted him up, Hardy flipped out of it and then hit a sunset roll on Shelton to get the win and the 3 count. Earlier in the match Hardy had managed to get a foot on the ropes after a T-Bone, and Shelton had done the same thing with a Swanton Bomb from Hardy.

Edge def. Mr.Kennedy when he nailed him with a spear. Edge had been on the defensive at the time, with Kennedy dominating after hitting him with the Green Bay Plunge. Kennedy had got frustrated and brought a chair into the ring, only for Edge to hit him with a spear from nowhere to get the 3 count

Team Bischoff def. Team McMahon when Kurt Angle hit the Angle Slam to Christian, after Eric Bischoff had come to ringside and nailed him with the ring bell. Christian was knocked out and stumbled into the Angle Slam, giving Bischoff’s team the win. The first man eliminated was Booker T when Christian hit him with the Unprettier, but MNM evened up the match when they hit the Snapsnot to Hardcore Holly. Tyson Tomko was pinned when Brock Lesnar nailed him with the F-5, and when Kurt Angle pinned Shane McMahon with an Angle Slam it was down to 5 on 3. Team McMahon fought back when JBL hit the Clothesline from Hell to Joey Mercury, and then levelled the match when Carlito finally managed to pin Brock Lesnar, rolling him up from behind. Carlito was quickly eliminated by Angle after Lesnar retaliated with an FU, and then it became 3 on 1 when Gregory Helms hit a shining wizard to JBL. Christian fought back with Unprettier’s to Nitro, and then to Helms, but he couldn’t put away Kurt Angle. Christian had managed to escape from an Anklelock, and had kicked out of the first Angle Slam, but the bell shot was too much for him, and now Eric Bischoff can appear on Monday Night Raw again

Mickie James def. Trish Stratus to become the new Women’s Champion when she escaped the cage after powerbombing Trish to the floor from half way up the cage. Both women had been trying to climb out of it, only for Mickie to catch Trish and then Powerbomb her to the ring, and then climb out of the cage. Britney had tried to interfere earlier, slamming the door on Mickie when she tried to escape, but Mickie kicked out of Trish’s pin attempt, and she had also kicked out of the Stratusfaction, which used the cage rather than the ropes. Trish couldn’t pin Mickie so she tried to escape, but was caught by Mickie, leading to the Powerbomb

Team Foley def. Team Heyman when the Rock pinned Rob Van Dam after a People’s Elbow, following on from a Batista Bomb from Batista, leaving the Rock and Batista as the two survivors. Elix Skipper was the first man eliminated when Paul London hit the 450 splash to him. Randy Orton evened it up after an RKO to Kendrick, and then London was eliminated when RVD hit him with the 5 star frog splash. It was level again when Batista hit the SpineBuster to Chris Daniels, and then Kane was pinned after the Rock Bottom. Mick Foley and Randy Orton then went at in the ring, only for Orton to RKO Foley out of the match. Batista then pinned Orton after the Batista Bomb, and then the Rock and Batista combined to pin RVD, giving team Foley the win

Chris Jericho hosted an edition of the Highlight Reel, which began with him using it as a platform to re-introduce himself to the fans, saying that he left because he felt he needed to freshen himself up a bit before coming back to win the title again. He says while he was away he went on tour with Fozzy, and recorded a new album with them, but now he is back to set about winning a 3rd WWE Title. He then announces his guest, which happens to be the rest of Fozzy (what... it makes sense to put them over, gives the fans a bit of a break before the main event, and would be a good fun segment). Fozzy then play a couple of tracks for the live crowd, with Jericho changing some of the lyrics to suit the crowd and his wrestling ideas

Matt Hardy def. The Undertaker to retain the WWE Title after rolling through a Tombstone attempt and grabbing the tights The Undertaker had been in control of the match, but Hardy managed to steal the win and keep the title. Hardy had used a hit a run and run strategy throughout the match, trying to keep the Undertaker grounded, and also not get too close to him. Taker should have had the match won when he chokeslammed Hardy, but Shannon Moore provided a distraction meaning that the referee couldn’t make the count. Taker then went to beat up Moore, but Hardy low blowed him, then hit the Twist of Fate, but Taker kicked out on 2. Hardy went for another Twist of Fate, but Taker countered it and then hit Hardy with the Last Ride. He covered, but Moore pulled the referee out of the ring on 2. Moore entered the ring with the title belt, but Taker kicked it in his face. He then nailed the Tombstone to Moore, but while the referee was dealing with Moore, Hardy hit Taker in the face with the title belt. Hardy covered, but Taker kicked out on 2. Hardy then went to hit Taker again with the belt to draw the DQ, but Taker kicked it in his face. He firstly chokeslammed Hardy again, before going for the Tombstone. As he went for it though, Hardy managed to fight it, nailing right hands to Taker, before rolling through it, grabbing the tights and somehow sneaking the win. Hardy had escaped with the win, but Taker caught him afterwards, and finally delivered the Tombstone to him, and left the ppv standing tall at the end.

Build up to Armageddon

Rob Van Dam was still the champion, but as a result of the SS match he would now have to defend the title at Armageddon against both the Rock and Batista in a triple threat match. With both the Rock and Batista spending the both working together against RVD, it seemed as if we would be seeing a new champion in the not too distant future. But eventually the Rock/Batista alliance had to fall apart, and the final Smackdown ended with them coming to blows after losing a tag team match to Brock Lesnar and Randy Orton when RVD ran in. The show ended with Batista and the Rock brawling, with RVD holding up the title

Edge continued to have success as a face, but his former partner Randy Orton called him out on it, saying that he had sold out, was cheap, and couldn’t keep up this act of being nice for too much longer. Orton told Edge that he was always the same arrogant bastard he used to be, no matter how much he tries to change. Edge went to shake Orton’s hand, but instead laid him out with a right hand, proving that he can change. Edge vs. Orton was then set up for Armageddon, but it would be a number 1 contenders match after Mick Foley decided to give them both the chance to put their names in the title hat as a way of showing Orton that you don’t have to attack the GM to get title shots

Brock Lesnar was seriously pissed off after being pinned by Carlito at SS and cut a promo saying that he needs some respect in this business. He then beat Carlito in a No Holds Barred rematch, and then set his sights on attacking Kane, for no reason other than Kane happened to be in the ring at the time. Lesnar said that he was going to take out the whole Smackdown roster until he gets some respect, and he started on the cruiserweights, until Kane made the save, accepting the match against Lesnar for the ppv

Carlito and Mr. Kennedy both found themselves wanting to get back in the title picture, but it looked as if they wouldn’t be getting a shot for a while so they decided to pick up by feuding with each other again. Mr.Kennedy was jealous that Carlito had received a title shot against RVD (but had lost) and said that it should be him, and so a match between was signed

Jeff Hardy’s next challenger for the US title would be AJ Styles after he won a 10 man battle royal to determine who it would be, and the two of them promised to deliver a classic high-flying match at the ppv. They traded victories in non-title matches to entice the fans into what could happen at the ppv.

XXX had regained the tag titles when they beat London and Kendrick, although this had something to do with them taking out Paul London before the match. Foley said that the match and title change stood, but booked a rematch at Armageddon, but it would be in a ladder match.

Kid Kash continued his run as Cruiserweight champion, and would defend the belt at Armageddon against Scotty 2 Hotty, who surprised everyone when he won a gauntlet match to become the number 1 contender. Kash laughed when he heard the result, but he wasn’t laughing when Scotty pinned him 2 weeks in a row in tag team matches.

Armageddon 2006

Jeff Hardy def. AJ Styles to retain the US title when he pinned after a Swanton Bomb to end a highly exciting opener to the ppv. Hardy had nailed the Twist of Fate in the lead up to the Swanton, after AJ had missed an attempted Spinal Tap to Hardy. Earlier the match had seen Hardy taken out by a shooting star off the top rope to Hardy when he was standing outside the ring, while Hardy had taken some revenge when he a diving ddt from the apron to the floor.

Kid Kash def. Scotty 2 Hotty to retain the Cruiserweight title when he hit him with the brainbuster. Kash had previously hit him with the double arm backbreaker, but had broken the count to inflict more pain onto Scotty. Scotty had had his moment in the sun when he hit the Worm to Kash, but he managed to kick out on 2, and then when Scotty missed a splash, Kash easily claimed the win

Brock Lesnar def. Kane after nailing him with 2 successive F-5 to prove his point and keep his dominant streak going. Kane had managed to nail Brock with a chokeslam, but Brock kicked out on 2. Kane then went for another chokeslam, but Brock reversed it into an F-5, and then he hit another F-5 to pin him, and then score the win

Londrick def. XXX to regain the Tag Team Titles in the Ladder Match when Paul London reached up and claimed the titles. Moments before it looked as if XXX were going to win when Chris Daniels climbed the ladder, only for Kendrick to come from nowhere and hit the Sliced Bread #2 to him onto a ladder, allowing London to go up and claim the titles. Skipper had earlier been taken out of the match when London had hit a neckbreaker from the top of the ladder to him. Other spots in the match had seen London and Kendrick hitting stereo leg drops from the top of a ladder to XXX, and Daniels hitting an Angel Wings to Kendrick off the top of a ladder

Mr. Kennedy def. Carlito when he hit him with the Green Bay Plunge to score the clean win. Kennedy surprised himself by not having to cheat to get the victory after Carlito was caught on the top rope, leading to Kennedy climbing up and hitting his finisher to him. Carlito thought he had the match won with the Backcracker, but Kennedy had got a foot on the ropes

Edge def. Randy Orton to become the number 1 contender to the World Heavyweight Title when he caught Orton with a spear out of nowhere. Orton has been sizing up Edge for an RKO as Edge looked to be struggling, but as he got to his feet he launched into a Spear on the unsuspecting Orton and this was enough to get the win and become number 1 contender. Orton was furious as losing, while Edge continued to show that he could act clean as win. Edge had earlier kicked out of a RKO attempt, while Orton had kicked out of the Edgecution

Rob Van Dam def. Batista and the Rock to retain the World Heavyweight Title when he hit the 5 star frog splash to Batista, after the Rock had hit him with the Rock Bottom. Batista had just hit the Spinebuster to the Rock, and was going for the Batista Bomb when the Rock countered it into a Rock Bottom. RVD then hit the 5 star to win the match after he had bided his time before returning to the match. RVD had earlier kicked out of the People’s Elbow from the Rock, and a spinebuster from Batista, before deciding to hide on the outside of the ring.

Jeff Hardy def. AJ Styles to retain the US Title at 12:20
Kid Kash def. Scotty 2 Hotty to retain the Cruiserweight Title at 5:29
Brock Lesnar def. Kane at 10:38
London and Kendrick def. XXX to become the new World Tag Team Champions in a ladder match at 23:29
Mr. Kennedy def. Carlito at 15:20
Edge def. Randy Orton to become the number 1 contender to the World Heavyweight Title at 19:43
Rob Van Dam def. Batista and the Rock to retain the World Heavyweight Title at 17:32

Build up to New Years Revolution

After Eric Bischoff’s team had won the match at Survivor Series, Eric Bischoff was free to appear on Raw again. But after the first show, he announced that he didn’t want to be part of Raw anymore, especially while Vince McMahon was in charge. He told Vince that he just wanted to feel that he could beat him again, which he did, and told Vince that he would see him around, but it would be on his terms.

Vince also decided to take some time-off, but didn’t bother to appoint a permanent new General Manager. Instead, he announced that each week would see a different person in charge, and that could be anyone employed by the WWE, on both Raw and Smackdown, as well as anyone he felt like giving the job to. He also made a change to the commentary team, saying that he wanted the wrestlers to feel more involved, so announced that each week, a wrestler would be added to the commentary team to join JR and the King.

One of the GM’s who was given the job on a one-night basis happened to be Mick Foley, and he announced that at New Years Revolution we would see an Elimination Chamber for the WWE Title. He said there would be 6 qualifying matches – Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio, CM Punk vs. Gregory Helms, Triple H vs. John Cena, Christian vs. Kurt Angle, JBL vs. Shawn Michaels and Matt Hardy vs. The Undertaker, the last of those would be for the WWE Title and would also take place inside a steel cage. Jericho beat Rey, Punk beat Helms, Christian beat Angle, JBL beat HBK, HHH beat Cena (with an assist from HBK and Umaga) and Matt Hardy beat the Undertaker when Brock Lesnar turned up, ripped off the cage door and attacked the Undertaker. Hardy then escaped, but Lesnar beat up the Undertaker.

It was then set that NYR would see Matt Hardy vs. Triple H vs. Christian vs. Chris Jericho vs. JBL vs. CM Punk for the WWE Title, but a new twist was added when Shawn Michaels was the lucky man who became General Manager for a night. Although he couldn’t change the match, he announced himself as the special guest referee for the night, and then announced that instead of it being an elimination match, it would be a 1 fall match, but people would still be released from the chambers every 5 minutes. He announced that after a beat the clock night though, where HHH had the slowest time, and so would enter the match first.

Every man thought that had a chance of winning the match. HHH is always confident, plus he knew he would entering first with HBK, his DX buddy as the referee. Matt Hardy as the champion has beaten every in the match before, and recounted how he destroyed the Undertaker. JBL said it was time for the Wrestling God to finally take the title that belonged to him, Christian said that he was taking the title back as that’s how he rolls, CM Punk was thrilled to get the opportunity to be in the match, while Chris Jericho hadn’t lost a match since he made his return, and he felt that he was going to win his 3rd WWE Title

John Cena was thoroughly pissed off to begin with that he wasn’t in the Elimination Chamber, especially as he had been screwed out of the match by HBK and Umaga, and then was told by HBK that he couldn’t face him at NYR. But Cena got the next best thing, that being a match with Umaga, where he said he would slay the bulldozer, and then announced he would go to the Royal Rumble and win the match, before going onto Wrestlemania and winning the title

Rey Mysterio and Kurt Angle weren’t in the title match either, but this seemed okay with them when they were both guests on the Highlight Reel. Angle remembered that he had unfinished business with Rey, with him injuring him back at Vengeance, and challenged Rey to a rematch at NYR. Angle vs. Mysterio – Last Man Standing 2 was confirmed

Also happening at the ppv would be Mickie James vs. Melina for the women’s title, MNM vs. Charlie Haas/Val Venis for the tag titles and Tyson Tomko against Gregory Helms (brought about when Tomko, Christian and Maria laughed at Helms, leading to Helms challenging Christian to a match, and then Tomko when he lost to Christian)

But then Eric Bischoff appeared on the final Raw before the ppv, and told Vince to end his holiday and show up at New Years Revolution as he had an offer for him which he didn’t think that he could refuse

Solid work on the SS results although Matt Hardy as the champ still doesn't sit with me, but I cannot complain as everything else looks swimmingly. ROFL @ Mickie beating Trish, what a travesty. Atleast Mac will love you for it

Armageddon too was good and the main event would've been kick ass, RVD as the man is cool. I wish you'd get more reviewers though tbh.

I suppose the fact I haven't given out any reviews probably doesn't help me get them in return, but once I get to Wrestlemania I'll start giving out comments again (and in fact may leave a brief message to those who review my shows before then, if I remember and have the time)

I felt it was right to let Mickie get a big win over Trish to establish another big name in the women's division. Plus, after chasing her for months, it was only right that she got the title (and other than Mickie, Maria is the only face who is really over, so it gives me more challengers for the title)

I know people aren't happy about Hardy with the belt, but I tried to push him towards the top with him barely losing a match between Wrestlemania and winning the title (i think the only match he lost was the KOTR final), so he was on a roll when he took the title.

New Years Revolution results and the build up to the Royal Rumble will be posted in a day or so, the delay coming because I cannot settle on a card for the Rumble that I am happy with

Armageddon was beefy goodness for the simple fact that it had Scotty 2 Hotty on it.

Like Reney, I'm not entirely sure how I like Matt Hardy as Champion, although I absolutely love the way you did it. No one really expected Hardy to go heel and win the Belt, probably; more of a call it out weeks ahead of time like RVD did IRL. Speaking of him, defintely glad to see him getting some love as Champ, and I like what you've been doing with Brock Lesnar. Keeping him bad ass, but down at the US Title level. I have to echo the statements of whoever said that the rosters seem a little stacked; hopefully some of the big-name guys go bye-byes eventually. Nevertheless, I am loving what you're doing with the recaps, and am looking forward to when this makes its full comeback.
