WWE KING OF THE RING – June 11th

As usual, the broadcast begins with Sunday Night Heat, which as always is presented by Todd Grisham and Ivory, and they start by seriously putting the hype on this ppv, saying it is great to have the KOTR back on ppv after a 4 year break since the last one. They say that it will be great to see who the next king will be, and Todd then mentions the fact that both Eric Bischoff and Mick Foley have promised that if someone from their brand wins the event they will challenge for the title at their brands next ppv.

They are then interrupted by the fact that we see Edge and Lita entering the building, as we are reminded that Edge could regain the World Heavyweight Title later tonight. Edge declines to comment as he enters the building, as he is seemingly too busy smooching with Lita, but he does look confident ahead of his match. Todd mentions that he has to be one of the favourites to win that match, but Ivory replies, saying that you can’t count out any of the men. We get a video package showing the rivalry between Edge, Kane, The Rock, Batista and Brock Lesnar, culminating with one of them being crowned World Heavyweight Champion later this evening

It is then time for the first of two matches on Sunday Night Heat, as we get the Raw offering for this evening. It turns up to be a fatal 4 way tag team match, as MNM, The Highlanders, The Teachers and The Spirit Squad fight it out to try and get the win. Now, with MNM in the semi finals of the Tag Team Tournament, and them being the only team of these 4 left in it, it doesn’t take a genius to work out that they are going to get the win, just to give them a little bit of a push… which they do end up doing. After a quick 5 minute match between the 4 teams, which all the men getting in the ring at some point, MNM nail the Snapsnot to Kenny, and get the 3 count to get the win.

We then have a brief interview with Matt Hardy backstage ahead of the KOTR tonight, but Shannon Moore takes it upon himself to answer the questions for Matt, seemingly being too excited about the fact his friend could get a WWE Title shot. By the end of the interview, Matt is getting a little fed up of what is happening, and says that all that matters is that at the end of tonight he will be leaving here with the Intercontinental Title, the MITB contract, and the King of the Ring crown

This takes Todd and Ivory back to talking about the KOTR competition, and they run down the chances that all 8 men have of winning the crown. They say that Matt Hardy is on a hell of a run recently, and hasn’t lost a singles match since before Wrestlemania, so he has to be a major contender. He faces Shelton Benjamin who has scored some major victories since moving to Smackdown in the draft, and Shelton does a win over Matt in his armoury, and is always a dangerous competitor.

They then move on to the next match which is between Rob Van Dam and John Bradshaw Layfield. They mention that JBL knows what it is like to hold the WWE Title, and that experience could be crucial in a competition like this, but RVD is a former runner up here so knows how to compete on the night. They say that the fans don’t like either man, but this is going to be up there with the best of them.

The next match is Mr. Kennedy, who they remind us has already started to call himself King Kennedy taking on Gregory Helms. They mention that both men had a bye to this round after winning their first matches, so they have to be the freshest. Helms is considered the outsider in the tournament, and Kennedy is one of the favourites, but anything can happen on the night

The final match is between Rey Mysterio and Carlito, and should be a great match between two of the most athletic men in the business today. They mention that Rey Mysterio is the only man ever to beat Umaga, although it did come by countout, and he has been a former WHC, so has all the experience, but Carlito is the US champion and full of confidence. There is also the Kurt Angle factor, as he is likely to do something tonight

We then flash backstage again, as we see a limousine arriving outside of the arena, and out of it step Shawn Michaels and Triple H, as they walk into the building, both joking around with each other, although we cannot hear what they are actually saying. This though brings the presenters to talking about the big tag team match between DX and John Cena and the Undertaker. They mention that a match this big doesn’t happen very often, as all 4 men in the match are genuine legends of the WWE, so it is going to be explosive. They do mention that Cena and the Undertaker has never competed as a tag team before though, so maybe that will count against them. They also throw in the fact that Eric Bischoff appears likely to try and do something, just 8 days away from his cage match with John Cena

All of a sudden we are sent backstage, because Josh Matthews has found Rob Van Dam and Paul Heyman, and he manages to get a quick interview out of them. Heyman says that RVD is focused on tonight’s tournament because of 1 simple fact; that fact being that the winner will get a World title shot. He says that RVD has worked his whole career to be announced as the World champion, and come the Great American Bash it will happen. RVD then takes the mic and says that he will prove he is Mr. PPV, and also the King of the Ring

Our main event of the evening, and it is Finley w/Paul Burchill taking on Chris Daniels w/Elix Skipper in what turns out to be a pretty decent match between the two men. Finley uses his experience to work down Daniels in the early going, but the fans get behind him as he stages a comeback, but the heel tactics of Finley and Burchill win the match for them in the end. Burchill gets up on the apron with the tag title belt, which the referee comes across to stop. He gets Burchill off the apron, but this allows Finley to get the Sheilagh and nail Daniels with it, and get the 3 count.

We go back to the presenters one last time, and they say there is just 1 match they haven’t talked about yet, and that is the main event; Christian defending the WWE Title against Chris Jericho in a 3 stages of hell match. They mention that this is a Wrestlemania rematch, and is a match that everyone backstage has been looking forward to, as they know that it is going to be a match of the year contender. They then show the video promoting this match, telling you to join us in a couple of minutes for the return of KING OF THE RING!

We then get the opening video, which shows clips of all the previous winners of King of the Ring, and then them being crowned afterwards. These clips are interspersed with comments from the 8 men involved in this years competition, saying how much they want to be king.
We also see comments from the 5 men involved in the Smackdown title match, with them talking around the theme of becoming the new king of Smackdown
Finally, we see Jericho and Christian as they talk about who will walk out of the 3 stages of hell match as the true king.
The video ends with a picture of a crown, with the narrator telling people that everyone wants to be king, but who will be the KING OF THE RING

*Opening Pyro* hits, and King of the Ring 2006 is on the air, and we scan around the arena, and we can that the crowd are going wild, with them all cheering for whoever they want to as we go down to ringside

JR: Ladies and Gentleman, welcome to the WWE King of the Ring! I’m JR and alongside me as always is the King, and King what a night we have in store tonight. 10 matches, two championships on the line and 7 matches that lead to us knowing who will be the 2006 King of the Ring!

King: Your right JR we are going to name the first King of the Ring winner since 2002, and I am very confident that a Raw Superstar will be King tonight.

JR: And also what a main event we have for you, we have a rematch of Wrestlemania 22 as Christian defends his WWE Title against Chris Jericho in a two out of three falls match.

King: Christian won the WWE Title off Chris Jericho at the grandest stage of them all, and Jericho wants his belt back ii can’t wait!

JR: We definitely can't wait for that but now lets go over to the Smackdown announce team of Tazz and first Michael Cole.

Cole: Thank you JR, tonight there will be a new World Heavyweight Champion as there is going to be a 5 pack challenge including five former champions. Batista, Brock Lesnar, Edge, Kane and The Rock and the winner wins the vacated World Heavyweight Championship.

Tazz: I am pumped up over this one Cole, five men all vying to become the new World Heavyweight Champion and I believe that my man Edge will reclaim the gold he lost at Wrestlemania.

Cole: We are going to have to wait and see but lets get things kicked off with a King of the Ring Quarter Final Match!

“Oh Yeah” Matt Hardy’s music hits and he comes down to the ring to a huge pop, as he brings down the Intercontinental Title and the Money in the Bank briefcase aware that he could be wrestling a lot of matches tonight. He gets in the ring and he throws the Hardy guns getting a good pop from the crowd.

Cole: And what a way to kick off the 2006 King of the Ring with the Intercontinental Champion Matt Hardy!

Tazz: This kid has impressed me a lot over on Raw recently Cole, he is on the roll of his life but the question is can he go through three matches in one night.

“ Ain’t no stopping me now” Shelton Benjamin’s music hits and Shelton comes out to some good heat. He cockily strides down to the ring and tells the fans at ringside he is going to become the King of the Ring.

Cole: Well here is a man who was drafted over to Smackdown just a few weeks ago and these two men have had their battles in the past with Shelton Benjamin losing his Intercontinental Championship to Matt Hardy at Wrestlemania 22.

Tazz: Shelton Benjamin is one of my picks to win this tourney Cole, not only is he from Smackdown but he has great stamina and will be able to go longer than guys like Matt Hardy in my belief. But this is going to be a blockbuster of a match.

Match 1
King of the Ring Quarter Finals
Matt Hardy v Shelton Benjamin

Hardy then goes for a discus punch but Shelton Benjamin ducks and he bounces against the ropes. Shelton Benjamin comes back off the ropes and goes for a clothesline but Hardy ducks and sets him up for the side effect, but Benjamin elbows his way out of it and he then fires some hard kicks at the ribs and then the head of Matt Hardy. Shelton Benjamin then whips a dazed Matt Hardy off the ropes and he goes to catch him off the ropes with a clothesline, but Hardy ducks and he comes back off the ropes with a crossbody taking down Benjamin.

Shelton Benjamin gets to his feet and staggers back into the corner as Matt Hardy climbs up onto the middle rope and the crowd counts with Matt Hardy as he goes for the ever so devastating ten punches. 1………2……..3……..4………5……..6…….7……..Shelton Benjamin gets fed up and he pushes Matt Hardy off him down onto the mat. Hardy gets back to his feet and he charges up at Shelton Benjamin who catches him with a flapjack with Hardy landing throat first on the top turnbuckle. Hardy then staggers around into Benjamin who throws a kick at Hardy whom catches Shelton’s foot. Hardy then spins Benjamin around, only for Benjamin to connect with the Dragon Whip kick to the side of the head. Shelton then rolls Hardy onto his back and he makes the cover 1……….2……..Hardy kicks out! Benjamin drags Hardy to his feet and he whips Hardy with such force into the corner that it causes Hardy to flip over into the tree of woe position in the turnbuckle. Hardy tries to find a way out of it as Shelton Benjamin very sickly smirks. Benjamin bounces off the ropes and he COMES BACK WITH A HUGE LOW DROPKICK TO THE FACE OF MATT HARDY!! Matt Hardy somehow stays in the tree of woe position, but not for much longer as Benjamin pulls Hardy up so that he is sitting on the top rope. Benjamin climbs up to the top rope and he grabs hold of Hardy and looks to back suplex him off the top rope, but in mid air HARDY COUNTERS IT LANDING ONTOP OF BENJAMIN and he makes the cover 1……….2………..Benjamin kicks out!

Hardy gets to his feet first and he holds onto his face in agony as he lifts Benjamin up to his feet. Hardy pounds away at Benjamin with some hard right hands, before whipping Benjamin into the corner. Matt Hardy then explodes up at Benjamin and hits a turnbuckle clothesline, and he follows that off by grabbing hold of Benjamin by the head and he connects with the Bulldog! Matt Hardy then makes the cover 1………2………Benjamin kicks out! Hardy picks up Benjamin and he pounds away at him into the corner with some hard lefts and rights. Shelton then staggers around into Matt Hardy who grabs hold of Shelton and connects with a Northern Lights Suplex into a bridge 1………..2………….Shelton kicks out! Matt Hardy then makes his way over to the corner and climbs onto the middle rope. He waits for Shelton Benjamin to get to his feet and goes for a diving elbow smash to the top of Benjamin’s head, but Benjamin catches him with a kick to the gut. Benjamin then swings his fist back wildly, but Hardy ducks and he sprints off the ropes. Hardy comes back off the ropes but Benjamin sees him coming and he tosses him over to the top rope, but Hardy holds onto the top rope and he pulls himself back onto the ring apron. Hardy however does not realise Shelton Benjamin coming from behind with a springboard dropkick to the back of Hardy’s head taking him to the outside. Shelton Benjamin takes a breather as Hardy gets to his feet, before sprinting off the ropes and he connects WITH A DIVING SOMERSAULT PLANCHA OVER THE TOP ROPE ONTO MATT HARDY ON THE OUTSIDE!!

Holy shit chants echo around the arena as replays are shown on what just happened, before Benjamin gets to his feet and he helps Hardy to his and brings him back into the ring. Shelton Benjamin makes the cover 1……….2………Hardy kicks out! Shelton in frustration picks up Hardy and goes to whip him off the ropes, but Hardy blocks it and he desperately hits Benjamin with a hard right hand backing him into the centre of the ring. Hardy wipes himself off before sprinting up at Benjamin who leapfrogs Hardy and then falls to the floor allowing Hardy to step over him and he bounces back off the ropes as Benjamin gets to his feet, and Benjamin catches Hardy off the ropes with a roundhouse kick to the jaw and he once again makes the cover 1……….2……….Hardy kicks out! Shelton in anger raises three fingers up at the referee, who calmly replies telling Shelton it was a two count. Shelton then lifts Hardy to his feet and he backs him into the corner where he hits Hardy with some stiff shoulder thrusts to the sternum, driving the wind out of Hardy’s lungs. Benjamin then whips Hardy into the opposite corner, before charging up at full speed only for Hardy to catch him with a boot to the jaw! Shelton staggers into the centre of the ring as Hardy takes a breather before charging up at Benjamin who ducks a clothesline and hits a SICK OVERHEAD GERMAN SUPLEX TAKING HARDY INSIDE OUT IN MID AIR!!

Shelton instead of making the cover realises that Hardy is in trouble and he immediately grabs Hardy and wraps his arms and legs around Hardy locking on his version of the Tazzmission!! Shelton Benjamin squeezes on Hardy like a python, and Hardy looks to be in big danger, as he seems to be fading away. The referee approaches Hardy and lifts up his hand once and it drops………………he lifts Hardy’s hand a second time……………and it drops……………He lifts it a third time and if there is anyway that Hardy is going to win the King of the Ring he must respond now…………AND HE DOES SO AS HE KEEPS HIS HAND IN THE AIR! Matt Hardy tries to find a way out trying to reach the ropes with his foot but is gets back to his feet and Hardy pounds away at Benjamin into the just a little too far away. Matt Hardy uses his strength roll closer to the ropes and he puts his feet on the ropes and Benjamin has to let go of the hold! Benjamin cannot believe that Hardy somehow survived that submission hold, as he slowly picks up Hardy to his feet and starts pounding away at him with some hard right hands. Hardy shows his resiliency though coming back at Benjamin with some hard right hands of his own, with the two men trading hard right hands. Matt Hardy gets the better of Benjamin and he takes him down with a Discus Punch! Hardy then whips Benjamin into the corner, but Benjamin leaps onto the middle rope and waits for Hardy to get close. Hardy charges up at Benjamin who goes for a diving crossbody off the top rope, but the momentum of the crossbody sends Hardy rolling over Benjamin 1…………2……….Kickout by Benjamin!

Hardy signals for the end as he slowly climbs onto the top ropes and he signals for the leg drop. But he is caught by surprise as Shelton plays possum, getting to his feet and climbing to the top rope and HE HITS AN OVERHEAD BELLY TO BELLY SUPLEX OFF THE MIDDLE ROPE!! Winner of the match and advancing to the Semi Finals of the King of the Ring, Matt Hardy in 8:56

The crowd pops as Matt Hardy quickly gets out of the ring and raises his arm in the air holding onto the back of the neck, feeling the effects from this very physical match. Hardy heads to the back knowing he has another tough match coming soon, while in the ring Benjamin sits up and shakes his head not believing this loss.

Cole: What a victory for Matt Hardy who now advances into the Semi Finals!

Tazz: I am shocked Cole, I thought Shelton Benjamin had the better of Hardy, But a Twist of Fate from absolute nowhere has given Hardy the win.

Cole: What a hard fought win for Matt Hardy in a very physical match to start the King of the Ring, and as the bracket shows Hardy will advance on to face the winner of the match between JBL and RVD so the next round isn’t going to get any easier for Matt Hardy.

Match 2 – Rob Van Dam w/Paul Heyman vs. John Bradshaw Layfield – King of the Ring Quarter Final

The bell rings, and the two men look at each other, knowing that the winner gets the chance to face Matt Hardy for a spot in the King of the Ring final, and a chance to face their respective champion for the title. They go to lock up in the middle of the ring, which they do so, and it is the power of JBL which comes out on top, as he forces RVD back towards his corner of the ring, and then strikes him across the head with a right hand. JBL then hits him with another right hand, before whipping him across the ring, and RVD’s back hits the ringpost. JBL then runs at RVD, looking to clothesline him in the corner, but RVD ducks out of the way of it, and he rolls to the outside of the ring. JBL manages to stop in time, but RVD trips him leg from outside the ring, and then rolls back in to cover,

1……….

2……….

And JBL kicks out, but RVD covers again, trying to get an early win,

1…………

2……..

And again JBL kicks out, knowing that he has a lot more to give in this match, but RVD nails a strike to his head, and then another one, and then a third, as the newly drafted Smackdown star takes the ascendancy in the match. RVD drags JBL to his feet, and then kicks him in the stomach, and then again, before nailing a quick neckbreaker to him, taking JBL down to the floor, before hooking the leg, as he tries to get the quick win to save energy for later in the evening,

1………..

2………….

And JBL gets the shoulder up, but RVD is on it right away, and locks in a side headlock on JBL, as he goes to wear him down. JBL tries to fight out of it, as RVD has the hold in, and after a pair of elbows to the stomach of RVD, JBL manages to break out of the hold, and then he nails a big right hand which knocks RVD back off his feet. RVD tries to get to his feet, but he runs straight into a shoulder block from JBL, who gets booed from the crowd as he puts his arms in the air…. As RVD rolls him up from behind,

1…………

2…………

And JBL kicks out, and responds by nailing a big kick to the head of RVD, not taking kindly to the roll up that he snuck in on him. JBL then lifts RVD to his feet by the arms, before nailing a simple body slam to him, making sure that he feels the pain, before dropping the elbow to the heart of RVD, and then again, and then for a third time, as he concentrates the attack now he has the chance to do so. JBL then picks up RVD, and he whips him across into the corner of the ring, and this time he manages to connect with him when he nails the clothesline to him, as RVD falls down to the floor.

JBL then drives the knee straight into the chest of RVD, and then again, and then for a third and final time, as JBL appears to be the one who is dominating the match at the moment. JBL then looks over at Paul Heyman, who is cheering on RVD at ringside, and tells him to watch what he does next, as JBL goes to pick RVD up, only for RVD to fight back by nailing a right hand to JBL, and then another one, and then a third, as he forces JBL to stumble back. RVD then runs at JBL, but JBL sees him coming, AND NAILS A HUGE SPINEBUSTER TO HIM, and then covers,

1…………..

2………….

And RVD gets the shoulders up at the last, not wanting to give up just yet. JBL then laughs at RVD, and he picks up back him up to his feet, before nailing another spine buster to him, as he appears to be trying to wear down the former ECW star, who hasn’t got an answer to the power of JBL at the moment. JBL then kicks RVD in the chest, before stomping on him again, and again, and again, as he doesn’t want to allow RVD to get to his feet at all in the match, and therefore allow him a chance to attack. JBL then drops the elbow again to RVD, before covering him,

1……….

2………….

And RVD gets the shoulder up, which pisses JBL off as he thought he was on the verge of winning the match. JBL then lifts RVD up by the head, and he whips him across the ring into the ropes, and as RVD comes back off them, JBL catches him and plants him with a massive powerslam, with RVD crashing into the canvas, as JBL gets the boos from the crowd. JBL then takes RVD over to the corner of the ring again, as he appears to have a very focused strategy tonight, as he nails a chop across the chest of RVD, and then a second one. He then stops to taunt the crowd, before going for a third chop, only for RVD to reverse it and nail a chop to JBL, and then another one, but JBL then hits a huge short-arm clothesline to him, and RVD falls back to the floor

JBL seems to be in control of the match, as he lifts RVD to his feet, before signalling that he is going to nail the Fallaway slam to RVD, which he thinks will be enough to end the match. He goes for the move, and RVD tries to fight it, but he is unable to do so, AS JBL NAILS THE FALLAWAY SLAM TO RVD. JBL then goes to cover,

1…………

2…………

And RVD gets a foot on the ropes, which keeps the match alive. JBL though, seems to have a plan to finish the match off, as he lifts up RVD and puts him on the top rope, as JBL climbs onto the ropes after him. JBL then sets up RVD for a FALLAWAY SLAM OFF THE TOP ROPE, BUT RVD FIGHTS IT, AND HE KNOCKS JBL OFF THE TOP AFTER A BIG RIGHT HAND. JBL tries to get back to his feet, but as he does so, RVD LEAPS OFF THE TOP, AND HE HITS HIM WITH A HURRICANARANA, WHICH TAKES JBL DOWN.

Both men are out for the count, as the referee looks at the pair of them, and then starts to count them out

1………..

2………….

3………….

4……………

5…………..

As both men stumble back up to their feet, drawing applause from the crowd, even though both the men in the match would be heels. JBL goes for a right hand, but RVD blocks it, and then counters with one of his own, and then another one, and then a third as he forces JBL back. JBL tries to go for a massive right hand, but RVD ducks it, and then nails a swinging neckbreaker to JBL, knocking him off his feet to the floor. RVD then gets JBL up to his feet, before he whips him across the ring and to the corner, as JBL’s back hits the ringpost. RVD then runs at JBL, BEFORE HITTING A RUNNING DROPKICK TO HIS FACE.

JBL falls back down, as RVD goes to the top rope, and HE NAILS THE SPLIT-LEGGED MOONSAULT TO JBL, and then hooks the leg, hoping this will get him into the next round,

1……………

2……………

And JBL gets the shoulder up, keeping the match alive, but RVD continues his assault, nailing a big kick to JBL, and then another spinning kick to him, before dropping him with a kick to the stomach, before a big ddt in the middle of the ring. RVD then sees that JBL is in prime position, AND HE RUNS OFF THE ROPES AND NAILS HIM WITH THE ROLLING THUNDER. RVD hooks the leg,

1………….

2…………..

And JBL gets the shoulder up again, as he is fighting hard to keep himself in the match. RVD cannot believe that he hasn’t done enough to win the match yet, as he goes to the top rope, as he is looking to hit his finishing move, the 5 star frog splash. RVD stands on the top rope, looking to hit the move, AS HE LEAPS OFF THE TOP ROPE, ONLY FOR JBL TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY, AS HE CRASHES AND BURNS IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING.

JBL rolls over, and slowly manages to crawl towards RVD, and he puts an arm over the top of him, making the cover which could end the match,

1…………

2…………..

And RVD manages to kick out again, not wanting to give this match up just yet. JBL though manages to get back to his feet, before nailing a right hand to RVD, and then another right hand, and then a third, as RVD starts to stumble back towards the ropes. JBL then takes the arm of RVD, and he whips him across the ring, with RVD bouncing off the ropes, AS HE GOES FOR THE CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL, BUT RVD DUCKS IT, AND THEN ROLLS UP JBL

1……….

2…………..

And JBL kicks out, not wanting to lose just yet. RVD then nails a big spinning kick to the face of JBL, which drops him back to the floor, before dropping a leg drop to him, as RVD is increasing the pace of the match in order to try and get the match over and done with as soon as he can. He makes the cover,

1……………

2…………..

And JBL easily kicks out, but RVD knows what he is doing, as he throws him back to the floor, and then nails a big kick to the head of JBL. RVD then walks over towards the top rope, as he clearly has a big move planned. RVD goes to leap off the top rope, BUT JBL CATCHES HIM, AND HE NAILS HIM WITH A HUGE POWERBOMB, SURELY KNOCKING RVD OUT OF THE MATCH AND THE TOURNAMENT

JBL simply covers RVD, thinking that it is certain that he has done enough to win the match,

1………….

2…………..

AND RVD GETS A FOOT ON THE ROPES, WHICH JBL CANNOT BELIEVE, AS HE WAS SURE THAT HE HAD THE MATCH WON. JBL starts to argue with the referee about this, saying that he had the match won, but the referee points to the foot on the ropes, and says that the match is not over. But JBL thinks it is, as he signals for the CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL, which would surely end the match and the hopes of RVD. RVD slowly gets to his feet, as JBL RUNS AT HIM GOING FOR THE CLOTHESLINE FROM HELL, BUT RVD SEES IT COMING AND DROPS TO HIS KNEES. JBL tries to stop in time, but RVD manages to nail a dropkick to JBL, and then rolls him out from behind,

Rob Van Dam def. JBL at 9:46 to progress to the semi finals of the King of the Ring tournament

We then go backstage to see Steve Romero with a microphone in hand looking very nervous

Steve: Standing with me at this time, Kane and Paul Bearer.

Kane and Paul Bearer step into the frame getting some huge heat.

Steve: Kane can you give us some comments, on your match tonight with four other superstars for the World Heavyweight Championship.

Kane’s attention turns towards Romero and he starts breathing heavily but doesn’t answer.

Paul Bearer: Steve Romero, obviously my Kane does not want to speak to you. If you have a problem with that feel free to slap him around a little, because he will break you in half!

Steve: Uhhh no I am ok tha…………

Kane grabs Romero by the throat and lifts him up and forces him into the wall and keeps him up there as Bearer speaks.

Bearer: Steve Romero, my Kane has waited eight long years to become the World Heavyweight Champion. My Kane was always overlooked, and instead title shots were given to people like The Rock and Batista. But tonight that will all change, as Kane will become the World Heavyweight Champion of the world. And not only that but Batista, Brock Lesnar, Edge and Rock will feel pain of what which they have never felt before, they can laugh at Kane being a monster all they like but after tonight when Kane is through with them they will be the freaks and the fat man and the big red machine will be the ones who are laughing as we walk out with the World Heavyweight Championship!

Kane throws Romero to the ground and he and Bearer walk off.

Cole: Kane looks as psychotic as ever Tazz and I have got to say, who in this world can stop Kane?

Tazz: I don’t know Cole; I can’t see anyone doing it at this moment. He is just too powerful and too much of a monster and my bet for the World Heavyweight Championship match is that very man.

Cole: Well that is one match we can look forward to for later, but right now let’s continue with the King of the Ring!

“Firestorm” hits and Gregory Helms makes his way down to the ring to a decent amount of heat, looking very confident that he can get the job tonight especially as he drew a bye in the last round.

Cole: Well here comes a man who could be an outside bet to win this tournament, this could be his best chance to get a shot at the WWE Championship if he wins this tournament.

Tazz: He has improved so much since he dropped that whole Hurricane thing and he is showing his true potential so big respect to Gregory Helms.

“Kennnneddy…Kennnnedddyy” hits and Ken Kennedy makes his way down to the ring to a mixed reaction from the crowd. Kennedy comes down looking very cocky and confident.

Cole: And here comes a man who has named himself King Kennedy that is how confident he is of winning this tournament.

Tazz: He has every reason to be confident because he is Mistttterr Kennnnedddy!

Ken Kennedy gets into the ring and he tells Gregory Helms to wait for a second before raising his arm in the air and a mic drops from above into his hands and a spotlight is put on him.

Ken Kennedy: Ladies and Gentleman this is the night of destiny. Because tonight I am going to beat three men to become KING…….KENNNNEEDDDYY!

Mixed reaction

Kennedy: And I am going to start this night off by beating that little chump standing opposite to me.

Gregory Helms doesn’t look too impressed.

Kennedy: The following contest is for one fall and is a King of the Ring Quarter Final Match! Weighing at 247 pounds and hailing in from GREEN BAY WISCONSIN!

Crowd Boos

Kennedy: MISTTEERRRRR KENNN….

Ken Kennedy’s speech is interrupted by a furious Gregory Helms who takes Kennedy down with a dropkick to the back of the head and the referee calls for the bell.

Match 3
King of the Ring Quarter Finals
Gregory Helms v Ken Kennedy

Ken Kennedy gets to his feet and he backs into the corner as Gregory Helms hits Kennedy with some hard right hands nearly taking Kennedy out of his boots. Helms then attempts to whip Kennedy into the opposite corner but Kennedy counters it and sends Helms into the turnbuckle. Kennedy then charges up at Helms at full speed, but Helms moves out of the way and bounces off the ropes causing Kennedy to run shoulder first into the turnbuckle and he then staggers out into a crossbody takedown by Gregory Helms who makes the cover 1………2.Kickout by Kennedy. Both men get to their feet and Helms locks in a side headlock onto Kennedy, who pushes Helms away off the ropes. Helms comes back off the ropes looking for a clothesline, but Kennedy ducks and he goes to catch Helms off the ropes with a clothesline, but this time Helms ducks. Helms isn’t so lucky the next time however as Kennedy catches Helms with a snap Powerslam! Kennedy gets to his feet and he sizes up Helms and goes to drop an elbow, but Helms rolls out the way! Helms gets to his feet as Kennedy sits up holding onto his elbow in pain, and Gregory Helms fires a stiff kick to the back followed by a stiff kick to the chest which is met with a big “ooo” from the crowd. Gregory Helms then bounces off the ropes and he hits a rolling neckbreaker onto Kennedy and he makes the cover desperately wanting to finish Kennedy off quickly 1………..2……Kickout by Kennedy!

Helms shouts at the referee to count quicker before dragging Kennedy to his feet and whipping him off the ropes, but Kennedy however holds onto the ropes not allowing himself bounce back into an attack by Helms. Helms thinks differently however as he charges up at Kennedy, who catches Helms with a back body drop over the top rope. Kennedy wastes some time taunting to the crowd not realising that Helms had landed on the ring apron, and Helms scales across the apron and onto the top rope. Helms goes for a diving crossbody off the top rope onto Kennedy who rolls through the crossbody and hoists Helms up off the mat and connects with a rib breaker! Kennedy then shows off his power advantage over Helms hoisting him up onto his shoulders and connecting with the Snake Eyes in the corner before bouncing off the ropes and hitting a big bicycle kick to the face of Gregory Helms! Kennedy cockily shouts out his name getting some heat before making the cover with his forearm driving into the face of Helms 1………..2……..Helms kicks out! Kennedy looks over at the referee in slight surprise that he didn’t get a three count as he lifts Helms onto his feet and drags him over into the corner. Kennedy bends over and he repeatedly drives his shoulder into the sternum of Gregory Helms driving the wind out of Helm’s lungs. Kennedy then grabs Helms by the arm and he whips him over crashing into the turnbuckle with authority, and Helms then staggers around into a charging Ken Kennedy who nearly takes his head off with a clothesline! Kennedy then drops down over Helms and he makes the cover 1………..2…………Helms kicks out!

Kennedy then lifts Helms up into a sitting position and he drives his knee into the back of Helms while pulling back at his arms in a submission hold. The referee asks Helms if he wants to give up, but Helms is not going to give up this early and he fights his way to his feet and he tries to spin his way out of it, but Kennedy uses his strength to not let that happen. Gregory Helms realises he has to find another way to break the grip, and he does so by distracting the referee who doesn’t see Helms fire his foot back kicking Kennedy in the Crown Jewels! The referee sees Kennedy holding onto his crown jewels and the referee questions Helms, who ignores the referee and fires away at Kennedy with some hard right hands before sprinting off the ropes. Helms explodes back off the ropes but Kennedy dropkicks Helms in the knees, and Kennedy follows that off with a snap DDT onto a kneeling Gregory Helms! Ken Kennedy hooks Helm’s legs once more 1……….2………..Kickout by Helms! Kennedy believes he has done enough damage to finish Helms off so he drags him over to the corner and places him onto the top rope and goes to set him up for the Green Bay Plunge, but just as Kennedy is about to step up onto the middle rope Helms fires a kick to the back of Kennedy’s head and then sits on the back of Kennedy’s shoulders. Gregory Helms attempts a victory roll onto Ken Kennedy who steps through into a pinning predicament holding onto the ropes for added leverage 1…………..2…………..Thrrrr..NO! The referee sees Kennedy holding onto the ropes and he doesn’t count to three sending Kennedy in a frenzy. Kennedy gets in the referee’s face and starts shouting at the referee as though he cost him the match, before turning around into a DOUBLE KNEE FACEBREAKER!

Gregory Helms is smart enough to know that he hasn’t done enough to get Kennedy down for the pin, so he instead goes straight to work stomping the life right out of Kennedy before bouncing off the ropes and coming back with a high knee drop over the forehead of Ken Kennedy. Helms then picks Kennedy up to his feet and he starts hitting some STIFF chops to the chest of Kennedy, with each one being met with “ooos” from the very loud crowd. Helms then sends Kennedy crashing into the opposite corner before charging up at Kennedy and tossing him back into the middle of the ring with a monkey toss to the self proclaimed King. As Kennedy gets to his feet, Helms climbs up onto the top rope and he comes off with a Missile Dropkick to Kennedy and he makes the cover 1……………..2…………Kennedy kicks out just before 3! Helms shouts at the referee to start counting quicker before dragging Kennedy to his feet and leading him to the ropes, before attempting to send him off the ropes but Kennedy holds onto the ropes blocking Helm’s whip attempt. Kennedy then drives his knee into the sternum of Gregory Helms and he clubs away at the back of Helms before going for a clothesline, but Helms ducks and kicks Kennedy in the mid section and connects with a spinning neckbreaker! Helms then grabs the leg of Kennedy and he turns Kennedy onto his stomach and locks on a single legged Boston crab! Kennedy yells in pain as Helms pulls back more on the leg applying more pressure. Kennedy uses all the strength he can muster to start slowly crawling to the ropes. Helms tries to pull Kennedy back into the centre of the ring, but his attempt is too late as Kennedy reaches the ropes. Gregory Helms however waits for the count of four by the referee to let go of the hold at the last possible moment.

Helms doesn’t waste any time going back to work dropping successive elbow drops over the head of Kennedy before dragging him up to his feet, and he starts unleashing with some stiff chops to the chest of Kennedy before bouncing off the ropes, but Kennedy catches Helms with pure instinct with a overhead belly to belly suplex! Gregory Helms get to his feet and clutches onto his back staggering into the corner and it seems as though Kennedy is back in this match as he starts firing away at Helms with some hard lefts and rights and then he stomps a mudhole in Gregory Helms before whipping him into the opposite corner with authority. Ken Kennedy then charges up at Helms at full speed and he nearly takes Helms out of his boots with a turnbuckle clothesline! Kennedy then whips Helms into the opposite corner, before charging up at full speed only for Helms to catch Kennedy with a flapjack with Kennedy landing face first on the middle turnbuckle. As Kennedy slowly begins to get back to his feet, Gregory Helms heads to the opposite corner and he sizes up Kennedy signalling for the end. Helms then sprints up at Kennedy and goes for the SHINGING WIZARD…..BUT MISSES!! Helms connects knee first with the turnbuckle and he sits back against the bottom turnbuckle holding onto his knee as Ken Kennedy heads to the opposite corner. Kennedy sizes Helms up before sprinting towards him at full speed and connecting with A DEVESTATING FACEWASH KICK TO THE FACE OF GREGORY HELMS! Gregory Helms is out of it and Ken Kennedy knows it as he lifts Helms to his feet and powers him up onto his shoulders. Kennedy hits a ROLLING SAMOAN DROP and he then immediately after makes his way to the corner and climbs up onto the top rope. Kennedy taunts to the crowd before coming off the top rope WITH A KENTON BOMB ONTO GREGORY HELMS!!! Ken Kennedy then hooks both legs of Helms to make the cover

Winner of the match and advancing to the Semi Finals of the King of the Ring Ken Kennedy in 7:46

Cole: Ken Kennedy has done it, what an impressive victory and Ken Kennedy’s dream of becoming the King of the Ring continues while Gregory Helms’ ends here

Tazz: That was impressive Cole, he has guaranteed a victory here tonight and he is sure on his way after beating a very tough Gregory Helms.

Cole: Well it’s not going to get any easier through the rest of this tournament Tazz as in the Semi Finals he will face the winner of the match between Carlito who beat Kennedy at Judgement Day and Rey Mysterio a former World Champion.

Kennedy gets his face right in front of the camera lens and says one down two to go as we go backstage.

We go backstage, and we go into the office of Eric Bischoff, as he appears to have got himself some camera time tonight

Eric: In 8 days, I take on John Cena inside a steel cage, and in his home town as well. And that night, is also the night that my contract as Raw General Manager comes to an end, so it could be a very bad night for me. But it’s not… it’s not going to be a bad night, it’s going to be a very good night

Heat

Eric: You see, the last few weeks, Raw ratings have been up, and the shows have been must see television. Tonight’s main event… the 3 stages of hell match… that match wouldn’t be happening without Eric Bischoff running the show. D-Generation X vs. John Cena and the Undertaker… again, a creation of the mind of Eric Bischoff

Mixed reaction

Eric: And in 8 days time, I have managed to make Raw a 3 hour long show… just because I asked for it. That is how important I am. That is how much Raw needs me as the general manager

Heat

Eric: And as for John Cena? I have no doubts whatsoever that he will not be the man who is victorious in 8 days time.

Heat

Eric: If he doesn’t get through tonight’s match, then I’ve got tomorrow night to finish him off. And if he somehow manages to survive that as well, then when I face him inside the cage, he will be the one wishing he could escape. He will be wishing he can run away from the man he fears the most… ME!

Heat

Eric: Cena… enjoy these next 8 days, because after them, I will guarantee that these people won’t be able to see you again!

Match 4 – Rey Mysterio vs. Carlito – King of the Ring Quarter Final

The two superstars look at each other, knowing that the winner will face Mr. Kennedy in the KOTR SF, as the bell rings to get the match underway. Immediately, the crowd start a ‘Rey’ chant, which gets him to nod his head in appreciation, as Carlito goes to attack him, aiming a left hand at his heads, but Rey ducks the shot, and then connects with a chop across the body of Carlito, and then he responds with another chop. Rey then takes the arm of Carlito and he whips him across the ring, as he shoots back off the ropes and then takes down Carlito with a clothesline, as he covers for the first time in the match,

1………………

2………………

And Carlito gets the shoulder up, but Rey knows what he is doing here, and he takes the arm of Carlito, and he wrenches it round, before dropping his with an arm drag, as Rey has had the better start to this match so far. Carlito tries to get up to his feet, but Rey takes him down with a dropkick, which takes Carlito towards the corner of the ring. Rey is loving what has happened so far in the match, and he runs at Carlito, connecting with a splash to put him in the corner, before he starts to climb to the top rope, looking to nail a series of right hands to Carlito. However, Carlito manages to anticipate this, and he grabs the legs of Rey, and he nails a snake eyes to him, with Rey’s face crashing into the turnbuckle, and knocking him out it seems.

Carlito then takes Rey, and he throws him into the corner of the ring, and opens up on him with a flurry of left hands, as he tries to make sure that he can capitalise on the slight mistake that Rey made in the match. He nails at least 10 left hands on Rey, before he takes the arm and he irish whips him across the ring, with Rey crashing into the opposite turnbuckle, and falling to the floor. Carlito gets a little bit of heat from the crowd for this, but he ignores it, and goes over to Rey and covers him,

1……………

2……………

And Rey gets the shoulder up, but Carlito just stomps him to the ground a couple of times, just to show that he is the better man, before he brings him to his feet, and then nails a big neckbreaker to him, taking him down to the floor again. Carlito then looks at Rey, and he decides to lock in a headlock on him, in an attempt to keep him grounded and to wear the Raw superstar out, knowing that his speed would be reduced. Carlito does manage to get the hold in, as Rey tries to fight out of it by elbowing Carlito to the midsection, but Carlito does appear to be too strong for him at that moment, and he still keeps the hold in. Carlito then looks to increase the pressure, BUT REY FINDS SOME LIFE AND HE NAILS A HUGE BACK DROP TO CARLITO, TAKING HIM DOWN

The crowd erupt, as Rey fights out of the move, but is still out of the floor for a moment, before he manages to get to his feet, about the same time that Carlito manages to do so, but Rey has the advantage as he is the first to nail a chop to his opponent, and puts Carlito on the defensive. Rey then grabs the legs of Carlito, and he flips him down to the floor, before nailing a sunset flip to him, and gets the cover,

1…………..

2……………

And Carlito kicks out, as Rey’s attempt to roll him up for the win failed, but Rey manages to nail another right hand to Carlito, as he then goes for, and connects with a standing hurricanarana to Carlito, which sends him rolling towards the edge of the ring and in position for the 619. REY SEES THIS, AND HE GOES TO HIT THE 619, BUT CARLITO SEES IT COMING, AND AS REY SWINGS AROUND THE ROPES, HE NAILS HIM WITH A LEFT HOOK, AND HE KNOCKS REY OUT OF THE RING AND TO THE CONCRETE FLOOR.

The crowd boo, as CARLITO LEAPS ON TO THE ROPES, AND THEN TAKES DOWN REY WITH A DIVING CLOTHESLINE, AS BOTH MEN ARE LAID OUT OUTSIDE THE RING, as the referee starts to count them out,

1…………..

2…………..

3……………

4…………….

As Carlito brings Rey up to his feet, but whips him straight away into the barricade, as Rey’s back crashes into the steel. Carlito smiles, as he goes over to him and nails him with a big left hand again, as he drives him to the floor

5……………..

Carlito then stomps on Rey, and then again, and then again, as he seems to have found a successful strategy to take Rey out

6……………

Carlito then rolls back into the ring, to make sure that he won’t be counted out, and hopes that he has done enough to take Rey out of the match so he can progress to the next round

7………………

8……………..

As Rey moves back towards the ring before getting an arm onto the ring apron, which causes the referee to stop the count, which Carlito cannot believe, as he thought he was going to win by countout. But Carlito manages to regain his calm soon enough to drop the elbow to the stomach of Rey as he crawls back into the ring, and then again, as he goes for another cover,

1……………..

2………………..

And Rey gets a foot on the ropes, which makes sense as he was right next to them, and this uses up less energy. Carlito sees this though, and he drags Rey towards the centre of the ring, and then nails a rising left knee to the chin of Rey, before delivering a big ddt in the middle of the ring. Carlito thinks that this could be enough to win, and hooks the leg,

1……………

2…………….

But Rey gets the shoulder up, to a massive pop from the crowd, as Carlito cannot believe that he hasn’t done enough to get the win. He starts to argue with the referee, saying that he got the 3 count, but obviously not. Carlito takes his eye off the ball for a moment, and he could pay for it as Rey rolls him up from behind,

1……………

2……………..

And Carlito kicks out quickly, and responds with a big left hand to Rey, and then a chop across the chest, and then again, as he seems to have been given extra fire in the belly by Rey managing to kick out of the ddt. Carlito then picks up Rey, and he nails a simple body slam to him, and he decides to keep this simple and effective as he is trying to wear down his opponent. He then drops the elbow to him again, and he hooks the leg again,

1…………..

2……………

And Rey kicks out, as that was never going to be enough to win the match it seems, but Carlito looks undeterred by it, as he whips Rey towards the corner of the ring again. He runs at him, and he nails a big running knee to Rey, who appears to be struggling at the hands of this assault from Carlito. Carlito then moves to go to the top rope, and to hit the superplex to Rey. Carlito manages to hook the leg of Rey, who doesn’t seem about to counter the move at the moment, AS CARLITO HITS THE SUPERPLEX, AS REY CRASHING INTO THE MAT.

Carlito thinks that this could be his chance to win the match, as he crawls over to Rey and makes the cover,

1……………

2…………….

But Rey gets the shoulder up, to a massive pop from the crowd, as he doesn’t want to give up his chance of winning the KOTR title. Carlito cannot believe it, as he was sure that he had done enough to win the match. He then signals to the crowd that this will be it though, as he waits behind Rey, so that when he gets up he can hit him with the backcracker. Rey starts to get to his feet, AND CARLITO GOES FOR THE BACKCRACKER, BUT REY TAKES A STEP FORWARD JUST AS CARLITO GOES FOR THE MOVE, AND HE CRASHES ON TO THE MAT.

Rey slowly manages to get back up to his feet, as the beating he has taken from Carlito has taken its toll on him, but as Carlito gets to his feet, he nails him with a clothesline, and then another one as he is building some momentum to get back into the match. Rey then bounces off the ropes, and he takes down Carlito with a big headscissors, as he appears to have found something in the last few moments of the match. Carlito appears to be reeling from this, as Rey runs at him again, and he manages to connect with the tilt-a-whirl ddt, as Carlito crashes to the floor, and Rey hooks the leg,

1…………….

2………………

And Carlito kicks out, keeping the match alive. Rey though doesn’t want to waste any time now he is on the attack, and he makes his way to the top rope, as he waits for Carlito to get to his feet, AND THEN LEAPS OFF AT HIM, LOOKING FOR A CROSS BODY, ONLY FOR CARLITO TO MOVE OUT OF THE WAY, AS REY CRASHES AND BURNS

Carlito loves this, as he thinks this is his chance to win the match, as he runs off the ropes, AND HE HITS REY WITH THE SPRINGBOARD BACK ELBOW, which knocks him back down to the floor. As Rey struggles back up to his feet, Carlito nails him with the short arm clothesline, and then follows up with a big knee to the face, as Rey looks to be struggling. CARLITO THE GOES FOR THE BACKCRACKER, TRYING TO END THE MATCH, BUT REY COUNTERS IT BY JUMPING IN THE AIR TO AVOID IT, AND AS HE LANDS, HE HITS A DROP TOE HOLD TO CARLITO, PUSHING HIM INTO THE ROPES.

REY THEN RUNS AT CARLITO, AND HE HITS THE 619 TO HIM, AS CARLITO REBOUNDS INTO THE MIDDLE OF THE RING. REY LEAPS TO THE ROPES, AND THEN DROPS THE DIME TO CARLITO, before hooking the leg,

Rey Mysterio wins by pinfall at 8:53 and progresses to the semi finals of the KOTR tournament

We then go backstage to see Edge backstage with one arm over the shoulder of Lita and one with a Mobile Phone in his hand to his ear and he is speaking to someone on the phone.

Edge: You’re here?……………Great you remember the plan if you come out tonight and help me become the new World Heavyweight Champion!

Crowd Boos

Edge: I will then help you this Friday on Smackdown how about it?……………..Deal that’s great I will see you later then……………And one more thing when I become the World Heavyweight Champion tonight I promise to you that you will be the first man to get a title shot…………….I knew you would like that…………OK bye.

Edge switches his phone off and puts it in his pocket and he turns his attention towards Lita.

Edge: Haha this match is in the bag, now Lita now I know he has come to help me become the new World Heavyweight Champion I am gonna let you stay back here during my match tonight.

Lita: How come?

Edge: Well I don’t want somebody like Kane or Batista getting their hands on you, and plus I need to save you for the after show party where we can celebrate my victory tonight.

Lita: I like the sound of that

Edge and Lita then kiss, sucking each others faces off before we cross to another backstage area, and there we see a stolen video camera, which is being held by D-Generation X, as they are walking towards the ring.

Match 5 – D-Generation X vs. John Cena and the Undertaker

Summary – The match starts out in a cagey fashion, with DX trying to avoid getting in the ring with either Cena or Taker, and when they do, they avoid any physical contact with them. The crowd gets restless of this after a couple of minutes, as HBK, the legal man at this point tries to leave the area, but the Undertaker stalks him, and this results in HBK being thrown back into the ring, before Cena gets what he wants, and that is to beat the hell out of HBK and get some revenge on him. He takes down HBK as much as he can, and then decides he wants a piece of HHH as well, and tells him to tag himself in. HHH does get in the ring, and gets in a few shots, but Cena comes back stronger, and gives HHH the same kind of treatment, and very nearly scores the win when he hits a running powerslam to HHH. He then sets up for the FU, but HHH manages to slip off the back of it, and nail a low blow to Cena.
This changes the momentum of the match, as it allows DX to recover, and HBK gets tagged back in as the fresher man, and starts to work on wearing down Cena. They tag themselves in and out every minute or so as they keep Cena held in their corner of the ring, and they appear to be targeting the ribs of Cena, but this isn’t the focus of the attack, just what they are doing to keep him away from Taker. But this couldn’t last forever, and Cena managed to hit a huge ddt to HBK, and then crawled across, making the tag to Taker.
The Deadman enters the match for the first time, and immediately he makes a huge impact, dominating HHH with his regular moves such as the Old School, running DDT, and then he hits him with a huge chokeslam. He then lifts up HHH for the Last Ride, but he manages to sneak out of it, and then hits a ferocious kick to the knee of Taker, and appears to have re-injured it. This causes a huge shift in momentum again, as DX just drag Taker to their corner and work on damaging his knee further than it currently is. They throw in a load of submission moves such as the leg lock, and they also wrap his knee around the ring post, before smashing it into it as they are taking away the vertical base of Taker.
But eventually, Taker does make the tag to Cena after managing to nail a big boot to HHH. Cena gets the hot tag, and the crowd erupt as he enters the ring, and takes down the newly tagged in HBK, before launching into the 5 moves of doom, hitting the clothesline and then the killswitch, before scoring a 2 count after a 5 knuckle shuffle. He then lifts up HBK for the FU, and he connects with it, but HHH pulls the referee out of the ring on 2. HHH then enters the ring, but is hit with an FU by Cena, but CENA TURNS INTO A SWEET CHIN MUSIC FROM HBK. HBK falls ontop of Cena... but Cena kicks out on 2 to the shock of the crowd. HBK cannot believe it, as he was sure the match was over... and his complaining distracts him as he walks into the STFU from Cena who has the submission move locked in. HBK tries to make it to the ropes, but Cena has the hold on too tightly it seems and he cannot do so... and is the on the verge of tapping when HHH re-enters the ring and stomps on Cena to break up the hold, and then manages to connect with the Pedigree to him.
Cena and HBK are both knocked out as they crawl towards the corner and both tag in their partners, with HHH and The Undertaker storming into the ring. And it is HHH who gets the initial advantage, nailing the knee smash to Taker, and then hitting his Spinebuster... BUT TAKER JUST SITS UP. HHH cannot believe it, and he goes for the Pedigree, but Taker just reverses it by throwing him to the floor, and he hits HHH with his second chokeslam of the night. HHH kicks out on 2, but Taker then signals that this one is over by doing the cutthroat signal and going for the Tombstone... BUT HE IS HIT BY A SWEET CHIN MUSIC FROM HBK, AS HHH THEN COVERS TAKER AND GETS THE 3 COUNT, as HBK pulled Cena back by his shorts from breaking the count up

D-Generation X win by pinfall at 23:40

DX celebrate the victory, while Cena and Taker look furious at the fact they have lost this match. The camera then pans in on HBK, and we see that he appears to have a metal plate attached to the sole of his right boot, meaning that he kicked Taker in the face with metal. Eric Bischoff then appears on the stage, and stares down John Cena, saying that he better get used to losing.

We then go backstage to see Josh Matthews standing with The Rock who gets a huge response from the crowd.

Josh Matthews: The Rock, tonight at King of the Ring you will compete against four other superstars in your chance to win the vacant World Heavyweight Title.

Crowd Pops

Josh Matthews: But Rock this past week on Smackdown, not only did Batista powerbomb you through the announce table, but Brock Lesnar viciously attacked you with a Steel Chair and then Kane tombstoned you after the match. Rock are you sure you are a hundred percent ahead of your….

Rocky chants start to fill the arena

Matthews looks at Rock in a puzzled way before answering.

Matthews: Feel what?

Rock: Can you feel the electricity in the air? Because Josh Matthews YOU ARE STANDING NEXT TO THE NEXT WWE WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION THE ROCK!!

Crowd Pops

Rock: Josh Matthews in a few minutes time, The Rock is gonna walk his fine ass booty down to the People’s Ring, with the Millions

Crowd finishes it off

Rock: AND MILLIONS of the Rock’s fans all screaming his name, watching him get into the ring with Edge, Kane, Batista and Lesnar. And there will be electricity flowing around the arena as THE ROCK KICKS ALLLLLLL THEIR MONKEY ASSES!!!

Crowd Pops

Rock: Josh Matthews hurt or not, tonight The Rock will walk out World, Heavyweight Champion IF YA SMELLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKING!!

The Rock then does the people’s eyebrow to the camera before walking back as we go back to walks off as we come back to ringside

Match 6 – Matt Hardy vs. Rob Van Dam w/Paul Heyman – King of the Ring Semi Final

The bell rings, and the first of the semi final matches gets underway, as Matt Hardy gets ready to take on Rob Van Dam, both of these men who picked up big wins in their earlier matches tonight, and have a great chance of going to the final. The two men come together in the middle of the ring, and they go to lock up, but RVD pulls away, not wanting to get involved with the Intercontinental champion. Hardy doesn’t see the trap that RVD is laying, as he comes after him, only to be hit with a knee to the stomach from RVD, and then another one, as RVD takes the early control in the match. RVD then takes the arm of Hardy, and he wrenches it around his head, before nailing a roundhouse kick to the kick of Hardy, knocking him down as RVD goes for the first cover of the match,

1……………..

2……………..

And Hardy kicks out, but RVD continues to attack him, and nails a few stomps to Hardy, keeping him grounded, before he locks in a headlock on him as he keeps Hardy grounded to the floor, knowing this is the best way to beat him. He has the submission hold locked in, as Heyman on the outside of the ring cheers on RVD, telling him that this is what he has to do to win the match. Hardy manages to crawl over to the ropes, and he gets a foot on them, as the hold has to be broken, but RVD has gotten the advantage out of that, as as soon as Hardy gets to his feet, RVD nails him with another kick, before nailing a chop across him chest, and then again, and a third time, as Hardy reels back towards to the ropes. RVD then runs at him, looking to clothesline him over the top, BUT HARDY SEES IT COMING, AND BACK BODY DROPS RVD OVER THE TOP ROPE, AND RVD CRASHES INTO CONCRETE FLOOR.

The referee goes over to check that RVD is okay after taking a huge bump, while the crowd cheer for Hardy, who starts to make his way to the top rope, as he appears to have some kind of aerial move towards RVD planned. Hardy gets to the top rope, and he throws the Hardy guns taunt, as he looks to be going for a leg drop to RVD. HE LEAPS OFF THE TOP, BUT HEYMAN PULLS RVD OUT OF THE WAY, AND HARDY CRASHES INTO THE CONCRETE, and he looks to be writhing in agony after that fall, as the referee starts a countout

1…………..

2…………….

3……………

4………………

And RVD rolls back into the ring, breaking the count, but straight away, he rolls out of the ring again, as he thinks that he can take advantage of Hardy, even though he is still suffering from his bump. He struggles over to Hardy, and he picks him up by his neck, and then throws him into the barricade. The crowd boo RVD, but he still to know what he is doing, as he lifts up Hardy, before dropping him face first onto the barricade, as he is trying to immobilise him.

1………………

2……………….

3………………..

RVD then lifts Hardy onto the barricade, and he drapes him across it, leaving him lying flat out on it, as he starts to make his way back towards the ring

4………………..

And again, RVD rolls into the ring, and then straight out of it to break the count of the referee, before standing on the apron, looking straight at Hardy, lying on the barricade. RVD points to himself, and he does the RVD thumb taunt, BEFORE LAUNCHING AT HARDY, AND CONNECTING WITH A MASSIVE SPINNING LEG DROP, AS HARDY IS DRIVEN INTO THE BARRICADE.

The crowd start to chant ‘Holy Shit’, as both men are laid out on the outside of the ring, as they have put everything into the first few minutes of this match, with them both trying to end the match as soon as they can to gain an advantage going into the final, as the referee starts to count them out again

1……………..

2……………….

3…………………

4……………….

5………………..

And RVD starts to move, as he begins to crawl towards the ring, not wanting to be counted out and make the second semi final into an effective final, as Hardy doesn’t look to have moved since the impact

6………………..

As Hardy starts to move towards the ring as well, but doesn’t look to have a lot left in him after the two bumps he has taken

7……………..

8………………..

RVD makes it back into the ring, as Hardy tries to make it back as well, but if he is not careful will be counted out of the match

9…………….

As Hardy reaches up and makes it into the ring, meaning that he won’t be counted out, but as soon as he does so, RVD nails him with a right hand, and then another one, as it appears that the pain he is going to suffer is only just beginning at the hands of RVD. RVD then slowly lifts Hardy to his feet, just to nail a spinning kick to him, as Hardy then falls back to his feet, as he doesn’t have a lot left to give it appears. RVD thinks about going for the cover, but realises that Hardy is too near the ropes for it to work, so instead he takes him to the middle of the ring, before locking the headlock back in on him, as a way to wear down Hardy as well, but also to give himself a chance to recover as well. He has the hold locked in, as Heyman continues to cheer him on the outside of the ring, and Hardy begins to fade it seems, even though he is trying to fight this. The crowd start to chant ‘Hardy’ in an attempt to breathe some life into him, and he seems to be work, as he finds a second wind as he starts to stomp his foot on the floor, trying to build the strength to counter out of the headlock and gets back into the match. HARDY MANAGES TO BREAK OUT OF THE HEADLOCK, ONLY FOR RVD TO NAIL HIM WITH A GERMAN SUPLEX, AS HE CRASHES BACK INTO THE MAT, AND AGAIN COULD BE DONE FOR. RVD rolls over to Hardy, and he hooks the leg,

1……………..

2……………….

And Hardy gets the shoulder up, as he keeps his chance of winning the KOTR alive, which RVD cannot believe, as he was sure that he had done enough to win the match. He thinks about protesting to the referee, but realises that he could just continue to wear down Hardy, which is what he does, as he mounts him and nails another set of right hands to him, before hooking the leg again, thinking this time he could win,

1………………

2……………….

And Hardy again kicks out, and RVD is getting pissed off at this, as he thought he was going to win them. He pounds the ground in frustration, but he responds by picking Hardy up, and then whipping him across the ring, and Hardy bounces off the ropes. RVD goes for the body back drop, but Hardy manages to nail a flying forearm to RVD, and he knocks him off him feet, as the crowd begins to get excited about a possible Hardy comeback. Hardy then manages to nail a right hand to RVD, and then another one, before taking him down with a clothesline, as he begins to feel this. Hardy sees RVD getting to his feet, AND HE TRIES TO CONNECT WITH THE TWIST OF FATE. HE GOES FOR IT, BUT RVD REVERSES IT, AND THEN PLANTS HIM WITH A DDT IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING. RVD covers,

1………………

2………………..

And Hardy kicks out again, as RVD just doesn’t know where Hardy is getting all this strength from. RVD look quite despondent with this, as he nails another right hand to Hardy, before getting to his feet, and then dropping a standing leg drop to Hardy, just going for a simple move that could help to take him out of the match. He doesn’t go for the over this time, as instead he brings Hardy to his feet, and then chops him across the chest, before whipping him into the corner of the ring. RVD goes over to Hardy, and then he kicks him in the stomach, and then again, before hitting a spinning kick to the head of Hardy, as he falls down to the floor and is left lying in the corner. RVD looks at the fallen Hardy, and then drives the knee into him, and then again, and then for a third time, before the referee tells RVD to allow Hardy to make him way out of the corner. Hardy slowly stumbles to his feet, but RVD hits him with a spinning heel kick, which takes Hardy down to the floor again, as he hasn’t been allowed to do a lot in the way of attacking in this match so far. RVD then drags Hardy out from the very corner of the ring, BEFORE LEAPING ONTO THE ROPES BELIVER HITTING THE SPLIT-LEGGED MOONSAULT TO HARDY, AND THEN HE HOOKS THE LEG,

1………………….

2……………………

AND HARDY GETS A FOOT ON THE ROPES, AS HE KEEPS HIS CHANCES ALIVE. RVD cannot believe it, as he just used one of his biggest moves, and it hasn’t been enough to get the win, as he just sits and wonders what he will have to do to actually win the match. He has a brainwave though, as he drags Hardy to his feet, and he then walks across the ring, leaving Hardy in the position that he is, resting on his knees as he tries to get up. RVD then runs at Hardy, LOOKING FOR THE RANDY ORTON-ESQUE FOOTBALL KICK, BUT HARDY DUCKS IT, AND THEN MANAGES TO NAIL THE TWIST OF FATE FROM NOWHERE.

However, Hardy has taken so much out of himself with that move, that he appears to be unable to crawl over and make the pin, as both men lie flat on their backs in the middle of the ring, as again, the referee has to count them out

1…………….

2…………….

3………………

4……………..

5………………….

As Hardy manages to get an arm over RVD, and makes the cover which could put him in the KOTR final,

1………………

2……………….

AND RVD GETS THE SHOULDER UP, keeping the match alive, as some of the crowd seems shocked at this development. Hardy appears to be a bit surprised at this as well, as he tries to get to his feet, but RVD who has taken less damage during the match does so at the same time. RVD goes for a right hand, but Hardy ducks it, and then chops RVD across the chest, and then again, and then for a third time, as he finally gets a period of offence in the match. He then nails a neckbreaker to RVD, which takes him down to the ground. Hardy then nails another right hand to RVD, before hitting him with the northern lights suplex, and he holds onto the bridge, as the referee counts,

1……………..

2……………..

And RVD gets the shoulder up, but you get the feeling that Hardy is getting into the match more now. Hardy brings RVD to his feet, AND THEN HE NAILS HIM WITH THE SIDE EFFECT, AND THEN COVERS,

1………………

2………………..

AND RVD KICKS OUT, and keeps the match alive, as Hardy thought that he had done enough to win the match at that moment. Hardy appears to be a bit surprised at this, but he thinks about it for a second, before going for his next move, as he lifts RVD up and hits a simple body slam in the middle of the ring. Hardy then makes his way towards the top rope, and he climbs it, AS HE IS SETTING UP FOR THE MOONSAULT. HARDY LEAPS OFF THE TOP ROPE, BUT RVD ROLLS OUT OF THE WAY, AND HARDY COLLIDES WITH THE MAT.

RVD sees this as his chance to win the match, as he slowly gets to his feet, but sees that Hardy is out in the middle of the ring. He runs off the ropes, AND THEN HITS HARDY WITH THE ROLLING THUNDER AND THEN HE COVERS,

1……………….

2………………

AND HARDY KICKS OUT, to a massive pop from the crowd, who really getting into the match now. RVD cannot believe it as he starts to make his way to the top rope, as he is going to have to try the 5 star frog splash to finish the match off. RVD GETS TO THE TOP, AND HE SEES HARDY LYING ON HIS BACK IN THE MIDDLE OF THE RING. HE LEAPS OFF, BUT HARDY GETS THE KNEES UP, AND DRIVES THEM INTO THE ONCOMING BODY OF RVD.

The crowd cheer, as it appears that this could be the break that Hardy has got to enable him to win the match. Hardy slowly makes his way up to the top rope again, which appears to be a strategy that both of these men are going to use. Hardy is on the top rope, and he looks to be going for the leg drop, as he starts to throw the guns. HE IS JUST ABOUT TO LEAP OFF, WHEN PAUL HEYMAN GRABS THE TOP ROPE, AND THIS MOVEMENT CAUSES HARDY TO FALL BALLS FIRST INTO THE RING POST. The crowd boo, as Heyman appears to have been the difference maker in this match now, as RVD starts to get to his feet, and moves towards Hardy, who is perched on the top rope, and in agony. Hardy tries to get to his feet, but he is hit by a right hand from RVD, who is trying to climb the top rope with him, and then after another right hand, he does manage to start the climb to the top rope. RVD gets to the top rope with Hardy, and then he hits him with another right hand, as he tries to lock in a superplex. He goes for the superplex, AND HE MANAGES TO LOCK IT IN, BUT HARDY HAS MANAGED TO COUNTER IT IN MIDAIR AND NAILS THE TWIST OF FATE TO RVD. The crowd erupt, as Hardy puts an arm over RVD,

Matt Hardy wins by pinfall at 13:20 and qualifies for the final of the King of the Ring tournament

We go backstage, and we see Todd Grisham who is standing by ready to interview Chris Jericho, the man who later tonight will challenge Christian for the WWE Title in the main event

Todd: I am standing here right now with my guest at this moment, and he is the former WWE Champion and the number 1 contender, Chris Jericho. Now Chris…

Jericho: Is that the best you can do?

Todd: I’m sorry…

Jericho: I mean, is that all the achievements that you care to mention? ‘Former champion and number 1 contender’… you make me sound like some kind of loser who has done nothing with my career.

Todd: It’s just…

Jericho: It’s just what Todd? That you haven’t done your homework and don’t know anything about me? Or maybe it is because you are the biggest assclown ever to hold a microphone in WWE history, and don’t know how to do your job?

Todd stutters, as he tries to get out his next line

Jericho: Save your breath Todd for something like breathing, because I think you need to save as much as you can for that difficult task… how hit the bricks, junior!

The camera then pans straight out onto to Jericho, who is standing infront of the camera with the microphone now

Jericho: Now, for the benefit of those like out friend Todd who don’t seem to know who I am, let me refresh your memory. My name is Chris Jericho, and tonight, I will be reclaiming the WWE Title and putting it back around my gorgeous waist! And just like I did when I won my Hardcore Title, just like I did when I won the European Title, just like I did when I my 3 tag team titles, just like I did when I won 7 Intercontinental Titles, just like I did when I was the first ever Undisputed champion in the history of this business, and just like I did when I had the longest reigning championship reign of the last 10 years, I will have my hand raised in victory tonight, AND I WILL BE LEAVING WITH THE WWE TITLE!

Jericho: But tonight, tonight is perhaps more important than all of them put together. Hell, tonight may be even more important than main eventing Wrestlemania. BECAUSE TONIGHT IS ABOUT GETTING BACK WHAT IS RIGHTFULLY MINE… THE WWE TITLE!

Jericho: Ever since I lost the belt at Wrestlemania, I have been saying that I will regain my title and tonight I get the chance to prove everyone wrong when they say that Christian has my number.

Jericho: Christian may have beaten me at Wrestlemania, he may have taken the title off me in the match of his life, but tonight it will be different. Because tonight, tonight he has to beat me twice. So if he manages to pin me after hitting the Unprettier, just like he did at Wrestlemania, then that isn’t going to be good enough to win the match. Christian may be good enough to take 1 fall off me tonight, but HELL WITH FREEZE OVER BEFORE HE MANAGES TO TAKE 2 FALLS OFF ME!

Jericho: Christian, I wish you the best of luck in your career, and the best of luck in putting together an all time classic when you step into the ring with me tonight, because you are going to need it. Because Christian, I WILL TAKE BACK MY TITLE, AND WILL REGAIN MY THRONE AS THE KING OF RAW, AND SHOW THAT CHRIS JERICHO WILL NEVER, EVER, NOT BE SEEN AS THE KING OF THE WORLD AGAIN!

Chris Jericho then stares into the camera lense as we cut back to the arena

“Booyaka 619” Rey Mysterio’s music hits and he pops out of the ground for the second time tonight and makes his way down to the ring. Mysterio climbs onto the turnbuckle and raises his arms in the air before awaiting his opponent.

Cole: What a match earlier tonight between Mysterio and Carlito but now Mysterio goes one on one with Ken Kennedy if he wants to join Matt Hardy in the final.

Tazz: I have got to say that Matt Hardy produced in what some could say a slight upset I believe against Rob Van Dam, and you could say that Ken Kennedy might have to pull of an upset Cole to beat Rey Mysterio who is a former World Champ.

Cole: Kennedy has defeated Mysterio before though Tazz on Smackdown a couple of months back so this match could go either way.

“Kennnneddy…Kennnnedddyy” hits and Ken Kennedy makes his way down to the ring to a big heat from the crowd unlike his match with Helms, because of Mysterio being a big fan favourite. Kennedy gets into the ring and he raises his arm in the air, and he goes to introduce himself to the crowd just in case they didn’t hear him earlier on tonight.

Kennedy: The following contest is for one fall, currently standing in the ring weighing in at 247 pounds and hailing in from GREEN BAY WISSSCONSIN!

Crowd Boos

Kennedy: I am MISTERRRR KINNNGG KENNNNN…..

For the second time in the night Ken Kennedy’s introduction is interrupted as Rey Mysterio comes out of nowhere hitting Kennedy with a Springboard Hurricarana onto Kennedy and the referee calls for the bell to signal the start of the match

Match 7

Rey Mysterio bounces off the ropes and Kennedy goes to take his head off with a clothesline, but Mysterio ducks and he comes back off the ropes with a tilt a whirl head scissors onto an angry Ken Kennedy! Rey Mysterio then climbs onto the ring apron and he goes to connect with a Seated Senton Splash but Kennedy moves out of the way! Mysterio charges up at Kennedy and ducks a clothesline, and Kennedy goes to catch Rey back off the ropes with a back body drop but he ducks down too early and Rey Mysterio comes back off the ropes with a kick square in the head of Ken Kennedy. Ken Kennedy staggers away holding onto his jaw before attempting to clothesline Mysterio, who ducks and connects with a Springboard Hurricarana sending Kennedy into position for the 619! Mysterio sees this as an opportune fashion to finish Kennedy off as he shouts out loud “619” before bouncing off the ropes and he goes for the 619….but Kennedy moves! Mysterio then charges towards Kennedy who catches Rey with a flapjack, with Rey landing throat first over the top rope! Kennedy then bounces off the ropes, but Mysterio catches Kennedy back off the ropes with an armdrag takedown. Kennedy gets up to his feet but walks straight into another arm drag takedown, followed by a dropkick. Mysterio then pounds away at Kennedy against the ropes, before sending him to the opposite side of the ropes only for Kennedy to quickly escape through the middle rope to the outside and the crowd boos Kennedy, who points to his head signalling that was smart. Ken Kennedy then turns around into A DIVING REY MYSTERIO WHO DIVES THROUGH THE MIDDLE ROPE ONTO KEN KENNEDY ON THE OUTSIDE!!

Rey Mysterio then mounts away at Kennedy with some hard right hands. Mysterio then helps Kennedy to his feet and he drags him over to the steel steps, and Kennedy goes face first of the steps courtesy of Rey Mysterio! Rey then rolls Kennedy into the ring who backs into the corner to try and attempt to get away from Rey Mysterio which doesn’t work as Mysterio mounts on him in the corner with some hard lefts and rights. Rey Mysterio then drives his feet into the chest of Kennedy and connects with a Monkey Toss sending Kennedy into the centre of the ring. Kennedy gets to his feet but Mysterio speeds up at him and he kicks him in the chest and he goes to whip him into the corner, but Ken Kennedy uses his strength advantage over Mysterio to block it and he instead sends Mysterio chest first into the turnbuckle, and Mysterio then staggers back into Ken Kennedy who goes to hit Mysterio with a back suplex but Mysterio lands on his feet and he dropkicks Kennedy in the back and Kennedy crashes chest first into the turnbuckle. Mysterio then climbs up onto the top rope and he sizes up a staggering Kennedy, WHO PLAYS POSSUM CLIMBING UP ONTO THE TOP ROPE AND HE HOISTS REY ONTO HIS SHOULDERS SETTING HIM UP FOR THE GREEN BAY PLUNGE!! Mysterio realises the danger he is in and slides off Kennedy’s shoulders down to the mat, before taking Ken Kennedy down off the top onto the ring apron with a hard elbow shot to the face. Mysterio then jumps onto the middle rope and connects with a springboard dropkick taking Kennedy to the outside landing throat first on the barricade. Mysterio takes a breather waiting for Kennedy to get to his feet but he is in pain. Mysterio goes to catapult himself onto Kennedy on the outside, but Kennedy trips Rey by the legs and he grabs Rey by the legs and tosses Mysterio from inside the ring under the bottom rope and down onto the concrete floor!

Kennedy then starts stomping a mud hole into the face of Mysterio, before lifting him up like a baby and rolling him into the ring. Kennedy gets into the ring as Mysterio begins to get up, and Kennedy bounces off the ropes and hits a running knee smash to Mysterio, as he is about to reach his feet. Kennedy then lifts Mysterio up to his feet and connects with a suplex onto Mysterio. Kennedy then mouths off the crowd as they chant “619”. Kennedy then lifts Rey and starts pounding away at him with some hard right hands backing him against the ropes before whipping him off the ropes. Rey comes back off the ropes and goes for a bodyscissors bulldog, but Kennedy counters it in mid air into a German Suplex! Kennedy then starts disrespecting Mysterio, slapping him on the back of the head and letting Rey know who he is. Kennedy then hoists Rey up to his feet and he places Mysterio’s head between his legs. It looks as though Kennedy is going to go for a Powerbomb, but Mysterio counters it by rolling over Kennedy and getting him into a Sunset Flip 1………..2………..Kennedy kicks out and both men get to their feet. Mysterio runs up at Kennedy but damn near gets his head taken off with a vicious clothesline by Ken Kennedy! Kennedy then starts clubbing away at the back of Mysterio before lifting him up to his feet, and scoops before connecting with a Shoulder Breaker! Kennedy then drops to his knees and hooks the far leg 1………2……..Mysterio kicks out!

Ken Kennedy drags Mysterio over to the ropes and he places Mysterio’s head over the bottom rope and he drives his knee into the back of Mysterio’s head, and he waits till the count of four to let go of the hold inflicting the most damage possible. Kennedy then starts to pull Mysterio’s head back over the middle rope and he lets go of the count of four once more. Kennedy then leads Mysterio over to the corner and he starts driving the wind out of his lungs with repeated shoulder thrusts to the sternum of Mysterio. Kennedy then hits Mysterio with a hard right hand before sending him into the opposite corner running just behind him, but Mysterio jumps onto the bottom rope and leaps his legs backwards onto the shoulders of Ken Kennedy and he goes to connect with a Hurricarana but as he drops down Kennedy catches his legs and drops Mysterio with a Backbreaker! Kennedy then makes the cover 1………….2…………Mysterio gets his shoulder up! Kennedy then grabs Mysterio’s leg and spins him onto his chest locking on a singled legged Boston Crab! Mysterio yells in pain as Kennedy pulls back at the leg even more applying more pressure. Mysterio however fights out of it as he uses his free leg to kick Kennedy in the head causing him to break the grip. Kennedy staggers back holding onto his face before charging up at Mysterio who catches him with an Oklahoma roll 1…………2………..Kennedy kicks out! Both men get to their feet and Mysterio charges up at Kennedy who catches him with a Swinging Side Slam! Kennedy then immediately goes to work lifting Mysterio up into a seated position driving his knee into the back of Mysterio and pulls back at the arms of Mysterio wanting to make him submit. “ 619” chants echo around the arena, as the crowd attempt to try and will on Mysterio to get back into the match. It looks as though Mysterio is fading away and Kennedy notices this, and he believes Mysterio is done here and very cockily loosens the grip as he starts badmouthing the fans. And just moments later Mysterio starts to fight his way to his feet, and he spins out of the grip that Kennedy has on his arms. Mysterio then Kennedy in the mid section and he throws some hard right hands to the jaw of the self proclaimed King. Mysterio then bounces off the ropes only to be caught with a Dropkick to the knees by Ken Kennedy who then lifts Mysterio up onto the middle rope and gets him in a front facelock. He then pulls Mysterio forward so his legs are hanging over the middle rope while he has him in a front facelock and KENNEDY DROPS REY WITH SECOND ROPE DDT!! Ken Kennedy takes a breather as we hear Michael Cole say that move is called the Wisconsin Spiker according to Kennedy. Kennedy very cockily hooks the near leg giving no chance of thinking that Mysterio might kick out

MYSTERIO KICKS OUT!!

Kennedy looks shocked that Mysterio kicked out but he quickly moves on and tells the crowd that he is going to finish off Mysterio right now. Ken Kennedy then hoists Rey Mysterio up to his feet and he lifts Rey up onto his shoulders. It looks as though Kennedy is going to finish off Mysterio the same way he did to Gregory Helms with the rolling Samoan Drop, Kenton Bomb combination but somehow Mysterio counters the rolling Samoan Drop into an armdrag takedown! Both men get to their feet and the crowd comes alive as Mysterio starts throwing some hard right hands to Kennedy. Mysterio then whips Kennedy towards the ropes, only for Kennedy to hold onto the ropes to prevent him from bouncing back into a Mysterio attack. Mysterio charges up at Kennedy who ducks down and back body drops him over the top rope only for Mysterio to land on the ring apron. Kennedy goes to wake Mysterio off the ring apron with a hard right hand, but Mysterio blocks it and he hits Kennedy with one of his own causing Kennedy to stagger back into the centre of the ring. Mysterio then jumps onto the top rope and connects with a Springboard Seated Senton Splash! Both men get to their feet and Mysterio bounces off the ropes before sliding between the legs of Kennedy before running off the ropes to the side of Kennedy. Kennedy goes to scoop Mysterio up, but Mysterio slides behind and grabs him around the waist. Mysterio pushes Kennedy off the ropes and he attempts to roll him over backwards, but Kennedy blocks it by holding onto the top rope allowing Mysterio to roll over by himself. Mysterio then runs up at Kennedy, who scoops Mysterio up onto his shoulders. Mysterio holds onto the ropes preventing Kennedy from hitting any type of power manoeuvre, and then flips his legs over the top rope landing on the apron.

Mysterio then scales along the apron and climbs onto the top rope, but drops down onto his crown jewels when Kennedy kicks the top rope causing Rey to lose his balance. Ken Kennedy then climbs onto the middle rope and he goes to lift Mysterio onto his shoulders to set him up for the Green Bay Plunge, but Mysterio does all he can to prevent Kennedy from doing so, hitting him with hard right hands and kicks. Mysterio then places Kennedy’s head between his legs, AND HE CONNECTS WITH A SUNSET FLIP POWERBOMB WITH MYSTERIO MAKING THE COVER!!

KENNEDY KICKS OUT!!

Mysterio puts his mask in his hands in disbelief that Kennedy kicked out. Mysterio then rolls under the bottom rope onto the ring apron. Mysterio gets to his feet and he holds onto the top rope before hitting a Springboard Legdrop onto the back of Kennedy’s head Droppin the Dime! Mysterio makes the cover once again 1………..2………..Kennedy kicks out once more! Mysterio looks down at Kennedy and he wonders to himself what it will take to finish Kennedy off. Mysterio picks Kennedy to his feet and he goes to whip him off the ropes, but Kennedy somehow uses the energy left in him to counter and send Mysterio off the ropes. Mysterio comes back off the ropes with a diving crossbody but Kennedy catches him in mid air and he drops Rey spine first onto his knee connecting with a Rib Breaker. Kennedy then shows off his strength lifting Mysterio up to his shoulders, but Mysterio slides off Kennedy’s shoulders. Kennedy turns around into Mysterio who throws a kick at Kennedy, but Kennedy catches his leg. Kennedy then starts mouthing off Mysterio who uses his other leg to hit Kennedy with an Enzuigiri, causing Kennedy to fall back into the corner. Mysterio takes a breather before running up at Kennedy, who instinctly trips Mysterio flat face first onto the bottom turnbuckle. Mysterio leans back against the bottom turnbuckle holding onto his jaw as Kennedy takes a breather, with Kennedy tiring from what has been a fast pace match courtesy of Rey Mysterio, something Ken Kennedy didn’t want to happen. Ken Kennedy takes a few steps back before charging up at Mysterio and he goes for the move that he connected earlier against Gregory Helms, the face wash kick to the head but MYSTERIO MOVES!! Kennedy’s knee crashes into the turnbuckle and Ken Kennedy starts hopping around on one leg, and Mysterio goes to take advantage of this as he starts kicking away at the back of Kennedy’s leg. Mysterio then bounces off the ropes but Ken Kennedy sees Mysterio coming in the corner of his eye and he tosses Mysterio spine first into the turnbuckle. Kennedy then quickly lifts Mysterio up onto the top rope, and he GETS MYSTERIO IN POSITION FOR THE GREEN BAY PLUNGE!! But for the third time in this match Mysterio blocks the Green Bay Plunge as he knees Kennedy repeatedly in the head. Mysterio then gets himself onto a seated position on Kennedy’s shoulders with both men facing the same way. Mysterio then spins around and goes for a Hurricarana off the top rope but KENNEDY ROLLS THROUGH BY HOLDING ONTO THE LEG! Kennedy then drags Mysterio into the centre of the ring and he goes to lock on the figure 4 leg lock but Mysterio kicks him away against the ropes. Kennedy comes back looking to boot Mysterio in the face, but Mysterio trips him up into position for the 619! Mysterio then sprints off the ropes and comes BACK CONNECTING WITH THE 619 ONTO KEN KENNEDY!! Mysterio then jumps onto the top rope and waits for Kennedy to get to his feet when SUDDENLY AN ARM POPS UP FROM UNDERNEATH PULLING MYSTERIO OFF THE TOP ROPE AND CRASHING FACE FIRST ONTO THE RING APRON AND LANDING ON THE OUTSIDE!! IT’S KURT ANGLE!! The referee had his attention on Kennedy at the time, but Kennedy saw it and he smartly distracts the referee as Kurt Angle lifts Mysterio up to his feet and sets him up, AND HE ANGLE SLAMS REY MYSTERIO INTO THE RING POST!!!! Kurt Angle then rolls Mysterio back into the ring and he hides so the referee can’t see him, as an exhausted Ken Kennedy drops down to his knees and hooks the near leg

Winner of the match and advancing to the King of the Ring Final Ken Kennedy in 12:39

Ken Kennedy’s music hits and he is declared the winner but he doesn’t look like it as he is lying down in the ring exhausted from this match. Kurt Angle slowly walks back down the aisle waiting for Mysterio to get up and notice that he cost Mysterio from advancing to the final. Mysterio is slowly helped to his feet and he sees Angle down the ramp and he shakes his head in anger, as Angle smiles and mouths off Mysterio.

Cole: Damn it! Kurt Angle has ruined what had been a great match between Rey Mysterio and Ken Kennedy, and because of this Ken Kennedy has advanced to the King of the Ring Final.

Tazz: Cole Boo Hoo. All that matters is that a Smackdown guy has reached the King of the Ring Final, and what a blockbuster match it is going to be Cole. Ken Kennedy from Smackdown v Matt Hardy from Raw I can’t wait!

Cole: Well Matt Hardy defeated Rob Van Dam in what has to be said a slight shock, and Ken Kennedy has produced what could also be called a slight shock as he has defeated former World Heavyweight Champion Rey Mysterio. This has left us with a match between a man who has not been defeated since way before Wrestlemania and a man who has defeated every big star on Smackdown you can think of. I cannot wait.

Tazz: Bring it on Cole, Bring it on!

Cole: Well that will happen later tonight but next up, the five pack challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship and backstage Kristal Marshall is standing side by side with one of the competitors in this match, Batista.

Kristal: Thank you Michael and Batista, we are literally just moments away before you step into the ring with four other men in your chance to become the World Heavyweight Cham……..

???: Hang on one bloody second!

A smile appears on Batista’s face as RVD and Paul Heyman step into the scene looking very angry.

RVD: Kristal obviously no one gives a damn that Batista is in this world title match, there are bigger things to worry about like how I just got screwed out there against Matt Hardy! And now I have to go back to my locker room and watch untalented wrestlers competing for the biggest prize in wrestling and one of the men I am talking about is standing right in front of me.

Crowd boos as Batista laughs looking a bit surprised at RVD.

RVD: And quite frankly Kristal no one gives a damn about Batista’s thoughts on his match, because everyone knows he has no chance in hell of winning his match tonight. So Dave if you may get the hell out of my way because Kristal is here to interview the Whole Damn Show Rob Van Dam!

Crowd Boos

Paul Heyman (At Kristal): You heard the man ask him a question!

Kristal: Uhhhh ok Rob……….What went wrong in your match tonight against Matt Hardy?

Batista: Kristal what went wrong for Rob Van Dam is that he got his ass kicked and he can’t take defeat like a man!
Crowd Pops

Paul Heyman: Do you know who you are talking to?

Batista looks like he is about to hit Heyman who notices this and he quickly scurries behind RVD.

Batista: I know damn well who you are, you’re the man who had the nerve to interfere in my interview time. Rob its not my problem that you couldn’t get the job done in the King of the Ring, I have a match next which is for the World Heavyweight Championship and I have not come here to walk out of this match empty handed, I have came here to become World Heavyweight Champion.

Crowd Pops

Batista: So as you can see I have other things to worry about. But Rob if there is anyone at fault for your loss tonight it’s yourself.

Crowd Pops as Batista’s comment makes RVD look very annoyed.

Batista: Rob you couldn’t get the job done and that is all your fault. And I am sure Matt Hardy would agree with me (Looks over Rob Van Dam’s shoulder) don’t you Matt?

RVD quickly turns around expecting to see Matt Hardy, but no one is there. RVD smiles before turning around into Batista who is staring a hole straight through him.

Batista: Rob you think you might think you’re a big shot because you like to flap your gums, and interfere my interview time. But Rob when I look at you, all I see, is a COWARD!

Crowd Pops as RVD looks like he is going to blow as Batista continues to stare a hole straight through him before turning to Kristal and we hear “I Walk Alone play in the background

Batista: I have a match

We then cut to ringside and a few moments later Batista steps out to a huge pop from the crowd. Batista poses at the top of the ramp setting off all of his pyros before making his way down to the ring.

Cole: It is time for our World Heavyweight Title Match! I have been looking forward to this all night Tazz and here comes a man who was robbed out of the title last year at Great American Bash, but this is his chance to become a two time World Champion.

Tazz: He is on a roll at the moment Cole, he won that huge Hell in a Cell match at Judgement Day where he sent Brock Lesnar flying off the side of the cell through that very Spanish Announce table. This man is an animal.

“Next Big Thing” Brock Lesnar’s music hits and the next big thing Brock Lesnar appears at the top of the ramp jumping side to side. Lesnar then makes his way down to the ring already locking eyes with Batista. He jumps onto the ring apron causing pyros to shoot from the turnbuckles before getting into the ring.

Cole: I would normally count this man as one of the favourites for any match but after what happened at Judgement Day just three weeks ago today, I’m not sure if he is 100% fit for this match.

Tazz:Don’t doubt the next big thing Cole, this man is a big match player and he could become World Champion for the first time in over two years.

“Metalingus” Edge’s music hits and the former World Champion makes his way down to the ring on his own through the smoke, after he told Lita earlier to not come down to the ring with him.

Cole: Three months ago this man was at the top of the mountain, he was the World Heavyweight Champion after cashing in his Money in the Bank at Survivor Series against Rey Mysterio, but that dream ended at Wrestlemania 22. This is his chance to regain the now vacant gold.

Tazz: This man Cole has class, he told Lita to stay backstage because he wants to do it on his own, You have got to be impressed with the toughness of Edge.

Cole: Yeah and just moments before that we heard him on the phone saying someone would help him in this match.

“Out of the fire” hits and the arena turns red, before fire shoots out from the ramp and Kane comes down to the ring with his manager Paul Bearer. Kane steps over the top rope as Edge and Brock Lesnar quickly escape the ring wanting no part of Kane while Batista doesn’t back off. Kane then sets off his pyro and he gets some last minute words by Paul Bearer.

Cole: Kane won the World Heavyweight Championship eight years ago at this very event, and Tazz this man has to be the favourite.

Tazz: Ever since he brought back the mask and Paul Bearer by his side, he has been eviller and more impressive than ever. And it is all the Big Show’s fault for Choke slamming Kane off the stage through a burning table forcing Kane to put the mask back on his face and bring back Bearer.

Cole: Well that is questionable Tazz, but we know now that Big Show is in hospital after Kane shot a fireball into his face two months ago and Kane will be looking to inflict damage onto all of his opponents in this match.

“If ya smelllllllllll” The Rock’s music hits and he comes out to a thunderous ovation. The Rock makes his way down to the ring and he climbs onto the turnbuckle and salutes the crowd raising his arm and closing his eyes. The Rock then looks around at all of his opponents and gets back down into the ring.

Cole: This could be Rock’s best chance of becoming a ten time World Heavyweight Champion!

Tazz: You mentioned that Brock Lesnar wasn’t 100% Cole, but I have to say that The Rock is the man least likely to be 100%. He had a hellacious match with Batista on Smackdown when he got power bombed through the announce table, and was then attacked brutally with a steel chair after the match.

Match 8
Five Pack Challenge for Vacant World Heavyweight Championship
Batista v Brock Lesnar v Edge v Kane v The Rock

The bell rings to signal the start of the match and all five competitors walk into the centre of the ring and stare off. Rock starts trash talking to the big red machine Kane as Brock Lesnar gets into a war of words with Batista, leaving Edge on his own and he slowly backs off hoping the other four men go at it. Which they do as Kane and the Rock start pounding away at each other as Brock Lesnar and Batista get into a fist fight to the delight of Edge. Kane and Brock Lesnar get the better of The Rock and Batista, and we see some synchronised action as they both whip their adversaries off the ropes. They go to catch Batista and Rock off the ropes with a clothesline, but they duck and they come back off the ropes with a clothesline of their own onto Brock Lesnar and Kane. Rock then pounds away at Brock Lesnar into the corner of the ring as Batista fires away at Kane into the opposite corner of the ring with some hard right hands. Batista and Rock then whip Brock Lesnar and Kane into a head on collision in the centre of the ring, and Kane staggers around into a clothesline by Batista as Brock Lesnar staggers around into a clothesline by The Rock at the exact same time. Lesnar and Kane then get to their feet and stagger backwards against the ropes, and Batista and Rock take them to the outside by clotheslining them over the top rope to the outside.

The crowd comes alive as Batista and Rock lock eyes, and the crowd realises that these two fan favourites are going to go at it. Batista and Rock close into the centre of the ring and they are about to lock up when Edge starts pounding away at both men with hard right hands and kicks to the gut before bouncing off the ropes. Edge comes sprinting back off the ropes looking for a clothesline on both men, but they both duck the clothesline and they catch Edge back off the ropes with a double hip toss! Edge gets to his feet clutching onto his back, as he backs into the corner and Rock and Batista take their turns at hitting Edge with some hard right hands. They then both grab an arm and they whip Edge with force into the opposite corner with authority. The Rock then whips Batista over into Edge, and Batista hits Edge with a huge turnbuckle clothesline before sending Edge back over into the clutches of the Rock, who catches Edge with a Samoan Drop! The Rock taunts Edge on the ground before turning around into Batista who fires a hard right hand at the Rock. The Rock throws one back and the two men get into an all out fistfight. The Rock eventually gets the better of Batista backing him against the ropes, and he goes to take him over the top rope with a spit punch, but Batista ducks and he then has his turn pounding away at Rock with some hard right hands. Batista then whips Rock off the ropes and catches Rock off them with a snap Powerslam and he goes for the early win hooking the legs 1………2………..Kickout by Rock! Batista then drags Rock to his feet and he starts pounding away at him into the corner with some hard right hands. Batista then goes to whip Rock off the ropes but Rock counters and he catches Batista off the ropes with an Overhead Belly to Belly Suplex! Rock then crawls over to Batista and he hooks the leg 1…………2……….Batista kicks out!

Rock then grabs Batista by the legs and he goes to lock on the Sharpshooter, but Batista counters it by kicking The Rock away to the ropes where Brock Lesnar is standing on the apron and he holds down onto the top rope causing Rock to tumble and fall to the outside. Lesnar goes after Rock at the outside as Batista looks on, before turning around into Kane who grabs Batista by the throat and he tosses him into the corner where he unleashes on the animal with multiple hard right hands to the ribs and face of Batista. Kane then whips Batista into the opposite corner before charging up at full speed, only to receive a high elbow to the face by Batista. Kane staggers away holding onto his jaw as Batista charges up at Kane who catches him with a Sidewalk Slam! Kane then climbs to the top rope as Batista gets to his feet and it looks as though he is going to go for his trademark diving clothesline, when Batista bounces off the ropes causing Kane to fall onto his crown jewels on the top rope. Batista then pulls Kane onto his shoulders from the top rope, and he runs into the centre of the ring and hits a running Powerslam onto Kane! Batista then makes the cover as we see Rock and Lesnar take both of each other down with a double clothesline on the outside 1…………2………..Edge breaks the count! Edge clubs away at Batista’s back with some hard forearm shots before bouncing off the ropes and he goes for the Spear, but Batista sees it coming and he catches Edge with a knee to the face causing him to stagger back against the ropes. Batista then charges up at Edge, who ducks down and holds onto the top rope sending Batista to the outside right next to Lesnar and Rock. Edge then sees all three men on the outside getting onto their feet together, and Edge holds onto the top rope and he CATAPULTS HIMSELF TO THE OUTSIDE ONTO BATISTA, LESNAR AND ROCK!! That leaves Kane all alone in the ring and Kane goes up high climbing onto the top rope and he waits for all four of his opponents to get up together on the outside before DIVING OFF THE TOP ROPE ONTO BATISTA, LESNAR, ROCK AND EDGE ON THE OUTSIDE!!

Holy Shit chants are echoed around the arena as the crowd show their appreciation for that big risk move by the seven-foot monster. Kane looks down at all of his victims looking for should be his first victim. Kane decides to go after the man he beat at Judgement Day, The Rock as he lifts the Great One to his feet and he tosses him head first into the steel railing. Kane then bends over and he takes off the protective covering off the mat, before setting Rock up for a suplex on the concrete floor only for the Rock to kick Kane in the crown jewels! Rock then drops Kane head first onto the Concrete Floor with a DDT! Kane immediately sits up though, to the surprise of The Rock. Rock picks Kane to his feet and rolls him into the ring. Kane immediately goes to attack Rock as he gets in the ring, but the Rock blocks a hard right hand and he starts laying the Smackdown on Kane pounding away at him into the corner before hitting a big spit punch to the face of Kane. The Rock then whips Kane into the opposite corner, before charging up at Kane who sidesteps out of the way and tosses Rock shoulder first into the ring post. Rock staggers out of the corner holding onto his shoulder as Kane bounces off the ropes, and comes back with a big boot to the face of Rock nearly taking his head off. Kane then makes the cover 1………2……….Brock Lesnar breaks the count! Brock Lesnar then tosses Kane to the outside of the ring before going to work on Rock, stomping a mud hole right through him.

Lesnar then hoists Rock to his feet and he drives him into the corner, and then starts driving his shoulder repeatedly into the sternum of The Rock driving the wind out of his lungs. Lesnar then scoops Rock up and connects with a rib breaker. Lesnar keeps hold of Rock and he connects with a second rib breaker. When he goes for the third however, Edge comes off the top rope with a Missile Dropkick onto the Next Big Thing! Edge then bounces off the ropes as Lesnar gets to his feet and he connects with a spinning wheel kick. Lesnar immediately gets to his feet and he goes for a clothesline but Edge ducks and connects with the Edge-O-Matic hooking the leg 1………..2…………Lesnar kicks out! Edge waits for Lesnar to his feet before bouncing off the ropes and he goes for a clothesline, but Lesnar ducks and grabs Edge around the waist and connects with an Overhead German Suplex taking Edge inside out in mid air! Lesnar then makes the cover 1…………2………..Rock breaks the count. Rock then stomps away at the head of Lesnar before bouncing off the ropes, only for Lesnar to catch Rock with a Spinebuster! Brock Lesnar then lifts Rock onto his shoulders setting him up for the F-5, but Batista comes from nowhere hitting a Spear onto Brock Lesnar! Brock Lesnar then rolls to the outside of the ring as Batista looks at him from inside the ring BEFORE TURNING INTO A SPEAR BY EDGE!!! Edge then sees Rock slowly getting up to his feet so he bounces off the ropes AND HITS A SPEAR ON THE ROCK!! Edge then sees Kane crawling into the ring and he sizes him up before bouncing off the ropes and he GOES FOR A SPEAR ON KANE………..KANE CATCHES EDGE BY THE THROAT! Rock uses his arms to pull him closer to the ropes and he reaches out as far to the ropes he can, AND HE GRABS THE BOTTOM ROPE!! Edge is forced to let go of The Rock and he is furious at the valiant Rock. “Rocky” chants start filling the arena, which angers Edge who mouths off to the crowd wasting time. Edge then slowly lifts Rock to his feet and he bounces him against the ropes, Edge goes to catch him with a clothesline but Rock ducks and explodes back off the ropes with a flying forearm smash. The Rock then goes over to the Smackdown Announce Table and he starts to take off all of the monitors and headphones when suddenly from out of nowhere RANDY ORTON STARTS ATTACKING THE ROCK! Randy Orton grabs one of the monitors and HE SMASHES THE MONITOR OVER THE ROCK’S HEAD! Edge then joins in with Randy Orton beating away at him on the ground and it is now clear to us that it was Randy Orton who was speaking to Edge on the phone. Randy Orton then picks Rock to his feet and holds him back for EDGE WHO HITS ROCK WITH THE SPEAR!! Edge decides he hasn’t finished yet as he tells Orton to grab a chair which Orton does so as Edge drags Rock back to his feet and holds him up for Orton. Orton swings back and goes to hit Rock with the chair, but ROCK DUCKS AND ORTON ACCIDENTLY NAILS EDGE WITH THE CHAIR!! Orton looks on in shock before going to hit Rock with the chair, but Rock ducks and kicks Orton in the mid section causing Orton to drop the chair. Rock then picks up the steel chair and he cracks Randy Orton over the head with the Steel Chair! Rock then spits on Randy Orton before picking Edge up to his feet and rolling him onto the Announce Table. The crowd comes alive with Holy Shit chants as the camera zooms in on Edge lying motionless in the rubble of what used to be the Smackdown Announce Table. After replays are shown of what just happened we see The Rock slowly getting to his feet with that move taking a bit out of him aswell. Rock then goes to pick Edge up onto his feet when Kane hits him with a big uppercut from out of nowhere taking Rock back down. Kane then drags Rock up to his feet and hoists him up onto his shoulder AND HE DARTS HIM HEAD FIRST INTO THE STEEL RING POST! Brock Lesnar then kicks Kane in the mid section and he hits a snap suplex to Kane on the outside! Lesnar then drags Kane to his feet and rolls him back into the ring as we see on the outside The Rock getting back up to his feet in front of the steel steps, but as he slowly starts getting up we see Randy Orton’s head pop up from behind the steps and he is sizing up The Rock. Rock gets to his feet and Orton spins him around BEFORE HITTING A SICKENING RKO ONTO THE STEEL STEPS!!!! More Holy Shit chants are echoed around the arena as Blood starts pouring down The Rock’s head thanks to the Legend Killer Randy Orton who has a sick smirk on his face. Kane places them into the ring and he opens the can of gasoline BEFORE POURING IT ON THE REFEREE!! It seems as though Kane doesn’t care about this match whatsoever, as he wants to have an early bonfire night celebration with the referee. Kane is about to light the blowtorch up but he instead thank god decides not to, before GRABBING THE CAN OF GASOLINE AND GOES TO POUR IT ONTO BATISTA…..

BATISTA IS THE NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION!!!

Winner of the match and New World Heavyweight Champion Batista in 18:22

Batista’s music hits and Batista immediately gets to his feet and he shakes himself off before taking the World Heavyweight Championship belt off the referee and he holds it up in the air to a huge pop from the crowd. Batista then climbs onto the turnbuckle and raises the belt in the air, as Edge is helped backstage and a bloody Rock stares into the ring at the new champion disappointed at the outcome. Brock Lesnar is also helped to the back as Batista leaves the ring and celebrates with some fans at ringside.

Cole: YESS! BATISTA IS CHAMPION!!! BATISTA HAS CLIMBED BACK TO THE TOP OF THE MOUNTAIN!!

Tazz: BATISTA HAS BECOME WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPION WOW!!

Cole: For the second time in his career, Batista has become World Heavyweight Champion. After all the times he has gotten screwed out of holding this title by the Triple H’s and Brock Lesnar’s of this world, Batista has finally reclaimed the gold which he believes is his.

Tazz: Well I have got to tell you what a match this has been, any of these five men could of won it but Batista and Brock Lesnar found luck after all of the interference and Batista has beaten the man who has made his life a living hell for nine months to become World Champion, WOW!

Cole: The Animal is the World Heavyweight Champion and his very first title defence could very well be the winner of the King of the Ring. Now lets go backstage as one of the two combatants are backstage.

We go backstage, and there we see Matt Hardy, who is just moments away from the biggest match of his career as he is about to face Mr. Kennedy in the King of the Ring final, when we see Todd Grisham running towards him

Todd: Matt, Matt, any chance of a quick word before your match?

Matt doesn’t reply, but just nods his head to signal that he has said yes

Todd: You’ve done a lot of things in your career like being a multi time tag champion, becoming the Intercontinental champion and being Mr. Money in the Bank, but this could be the biggest match of your career?

Matt: You’re right Todd, I have done a lot in my career, and recently, things have been getting better for me. I mean, in one hand I have the Intercontinental Championship, in the other hand I have the Money In The Bank contract, and in a few moments, I’m going to have a King of the Ring crown on my head

Huge pop

Matt: I haven’t lost since before Wrestlemania, so I’ve got no fear about going into this match and trying to become the King. If anything, I’m looking forward to adding 1 more thing to the list of achievements I have claimed in the last year

Pop

Matt: And if ‘King Kennedy’ has a problem with me taking the crown ahead of him, then Ken… I’ll show you in the ring WHY MATT HARDY WILL NOT DIE!

Matt walks off looking very confident and very focused about this match

JR: After five weeks and 29 matches from Raw and Smackdown, we have finally reached the final of the 2006 King of the Ring and we are down to Ken Kennedy and Matt Hardy. I am joined here at ringside, for the final by Tazz!

Tazz: This is what we have been waiting for, who will be King of the Ring, Matt Hardy or Ken Kennedy this is gonna be off the hook!

“Oh Yeah” Matt Hardy’s music hits and Hardy comes out to a big pop for the third time this evening with his Intercontinental Title over his shoulder and Money in the Bank Briefcase in his hand. As he makes his way down to the ring Matt Hardy notably does not look as good as he did earlier on in the night, with Hardy already being in two physical matches with Shelton Benjamin and RVD so far tonight.

JR: What an ovation for Matt Hardy who has already defeated Shelton Benjamin and then RVD tonight. He could very well add the King of the Ring to the list of his current accomplishments being the Money in the Bank and the Intercontinental Championship.

Tazz: I think the question is who has the better stamina JR, both men have wrestled through two tough matches already tonight and whoever can go the furthest I think will win here tonight.

“Kennnedddyy….Kennnnedddyy” Ken Kennedy’s music hits and he makes his way down to the ring to some big heat from the crowd, also not looking as good as he did earlier tonight having advanced through two tough matches with Gregory Helms and Rey Mysterio. Kennedy gets into the ring and unlike usual he doesn’t bother attempting to announce himself with there being bigger things he needs to concentrate on.

JR: Ken Kennedy has fought his way through matches with Gregory Helms and Rey Mysterio to get his way here to the final but I have to say Tazz that Kennedy is very lucky to be in this match thanks to the despicable actions of Kurt Angle who cost Rey Mysterio his match.

Tazz: As I said to Cole, Boo Hoo. Ken Kennedy is here in the final and that’s all that matters and one of these two men will not only win the King of the Ring, but also win a World Title shot at either Vengeance or Great American Bash.

Match 9
King of the Ring Final
Matt Hardy v Ken Kennedy

The referee calls for the bell and the 2006 King of the Ring final begins, with both men walking into the centre of the ring and going face to face. Kennedy starts mouthing off at Hardy, telling Hardy that he will die and Kennedy will become King of the Ring. Hardy ignores Kennedy and he urges on the crowd who start chanting his name, chanting “Hardy” which infuriates Kennedy. Kennedy tells the crowd to shut the hell up and he gets “you suck” chant for his actions. This infuriates Kennedy even further and he takes it out on Hardy, shoving him in the chest. Hardy shoves Kennedy back, who then slaps Hardy across the face and then tells the crowd who sucks now. Hardy responds by saying you do and he throws a hard right hand at Kennedy, and he starts pounding away at Kennedy into the corner of the ring. Hardy does not stop hitting Kennedy though, meaning that the referee has to get between the two to split them up. Hardy backs off away from Kennedy who wipes off his cheek, feeling the effects of those hard right hands. Kennedy and Hardy then slowly pace the ring before locking up. Both men struggle for position but it is shown early on that Kennedy has the power advantage over Hardy powering him into the corner and they refuse to let go of one another so the referee once again has to get between the two, and with the referee bending over Kennedy fires a cheap shot at Hardy and then quickly backs off as Hardy goes to retaliate.

Kennedy starts jumping side-to-side laughing at Hardy, before they pace the ring once more and lock up in the centre of the ring. This time Hardy gets the better of Kennedy, getting him into a side headlock. Kennedy tries to fight out of it but Hardy takes him down with a side headlock takedown and he keeps hold of the grip on the ground. Kennedy tries to rake Hardy’s eyes to get out of it, but he cannot reach them but he is able to roll Hardy over into a pinning predicament, only for Hardy to quickly roll back over into the hold. Kennedy fights his way to his feet leading Hardy to the ropes before throwing Hardy off the opposite side of the ropes. But Hardy comes back off them with a shoulder block taking Kennedy down to the mat. Kennedy gets back to his feet looking very surprised that Hardy got the better of him. Kennedy and Hardy lock eyes one more, and they lock up but this time Ken Kennedy gets Hardy in the side headlock. Hardy tries to fight out of it but Kennedy repeats Hardy’s tactics taking him down with a side headlock. Hardy however quickly escapes the hold with a head scissors and then both men jump up to their feet. Kennedy goes to take Hardy’s head off swinging his fist back wildly, but Hardy ducks and takes Kennedy down with a waistlock takedown and locks on a grounded waistlock onto Kennedy. Kennedy however spins out the hold and gets to his feet wrenching the arm of Matt Hardy. Hardy counters, spinning behind Kennedy and now wrenching onto his arm. Kennedy throws back some elbows at the head of Hardy causing him to stagger back into the corner. Kennedy then goes to work on Hardy in the corner throwing some hard right hands to the ribs of Hardy, before repeatedly driving his shoulder into the sternum of Hardy and then whipping him over into the opposite corner. Kennedy charges up at Hardy at full speed, only to receive a face full of boot causing him to stagger back holding onto his jaw. Kennedy then turns around into Matt Hardy who takes him down with a big clothesline!

Kennedy gets to his feet but is taken straight back down after a dropkick by Hardy. Hardy then helps Kennedy to his feet and he gets him into a side headlock. Kennedy pushes Hardy way off the ropes and goes to catch him with a high elbow to the face, but Hardy ducks and comes back off the ropes with a flying forearm smash to Kennedy! Hardy then follows that off with a succession of snap arm drag takedowns, before pounding away at Kennedy against the ropes with some hard right hands. Hardy then goes to whip Kennedy off the ropes, but Kennedy counters and grabs Hardy by the hair and tosses him over the top rope. However Hardy pulls out all the stops in one of his biggest matches in his career skinning the cat and taking Kennedy over the top rope to the outside with a Hurricarana! Hardy then gets back into the ring and he shoots the Hardy guns getting some big pops from the crowd. Hardy then holds onto the top rope and waits for Kennedy to get to his feet, BEFORE CATAPULTING HIMSELF OVER THE TOP ROPE ONTO A STANDING KEN KENNEDY ON THE OUTSIDE!! Hardy gets to his feet slowly holding onto his head before dragging Kennedy to his feet and he starts chopping away at the bare chest of Kennedy, rocking him back against the barricade. Kennedy tries to fight back by throwing a kick at Hardy who catches his foot, but Kennedy uses his other foot and leans back against the barricade to kick Hardy away sending him down and crashing head first into the Steel Steps! Kennedy looks on at Hardy with a demonical look across his face, with Hardy sitting down leaning back against the steel steps holding onto his head. Ken Kennedy sizes Hardy up before running up and connecting with a KICK TO THE FACE OF HARDY SANDWICHING HIS FACE BETWEEN BOOT AND STEPS!!

Hardy screams out in agony holding onto his head as Ken Kennedy approaches a fan with a King of the Ring crown on his head and rudely slaps it off his head and shouts “Kennnnneddyyy”. Kennedy then rolls Matt Hardy into the ring and he makes the first cover of the match, driving down his forearm onto the forehead of Hardy 1…………..2……Hardy kicks out! Kennedy doesn’t waste any time complaining as he starts viciously stomping at the face of Matt Hardy, before lifting him up into a seated position and hits some stiff kicks to the spine of Matt Hardy. Ken Kennedy then sprints off the ropes and nearly kicks Matt Hardy’s head off his shoulders, and then once again lets the fans know who he is. Kennedy then drops down to make the cover, cockily not hooking the leg 1………..2………Kickout by Hardy! Kennedy looks on slightly surprised at the referee before showing his vicious side, clubbing away at the head and back area of Matt Hardy. Kennedy then lifts Hardy to his feet and whips him into the turnbuckle and charges up at him, hitting a high running knee lift to the jaw of Matt Hardy! Matt Hardy staggers out of the corner very dizzily holding onto his jaw, before turning around into Ken Kennedy who bounced off the ropes and delivers a sick Bicycle Kick to the side of Matt Hardy’s face! Kennedy then makes the cover desperately wanting to be King 1………….2……….Hardy somehow kicks out! Kennedy then pulls Hardy up to his feet and leads him over to the corner where he bends over and charges his shoulder into the sternum of Matt Hardy, before leading him into the centre of the ring and taking him down with a snap mare. Kennedy then drives his knee into the back of Matt Hardy while pulling at Hardy’s throat backwards over his knee wanting to cause the ultimate embarrassment to Hardy by making him submit.

Hardy yells in pain as Kennedy tries to pull back at Matt Hardy’s throat more, with “Hardy” chants rumbling around the arena. Hardy uses those chants to fight back at Kennedy slowly getting to his feet breaking the grip that Ken Kennedy has on his throat by spinning out of it. However Kennedy drives his knee into the ribs of Matt Hardy and he throws some hard right hands, but Hardy fights back with some hard right hands of his own before whipping Kennedy off the ropes. But Kennedy comes back off the ropes with a dropkick low to the knees of Matt Hardy, before dropping him face first into the mat with a Snap DDT to a kneeling Matt Hardy! Kennedy then makes the cover 1…………….2……………Hardy kicks out once again! Kennedy cannot believe that Hardy kicked out and he decides to go for the kill as he wraps his legs and arms around the body of Matt Hardy and starts squeezing him like a python. Matt Hardy knows what it is like to be in this move, as Shelton Benjamin locked on the very same move earlier on tonight in the Quarter Finals, in which Benjamin was literally a second away from winning via Hardy losing consciousness and Hardy desperately throws back some elbows to the ribs and head of Ken Kennedy not wanting to be in the same position. Kennedy lets go of Hardy after those elbow shots and both men get to their feet very slowly. Hardy and Kennedy go at it fist to fist, with Hardy getting the better of Kennedy. Hardy whips Kennedy off the ropes, who smartly holds onto the ropes not allowing himself to bounce back into a Matt Hardy attack. Hardy charges up at Kennedy who trips him with a drop toe hold over the Bottom Rope. Kennedy then bounces off the ropes and comes back off them jumping onto the head of Matt Hardy driving his throat into the Middle Rope! Kennedy refuses to let this happen hooks the legs once more putting all of his body weight on the shoulders of Matt Hardy 1……………2………….Hardy kicks out again! Kennedy shakes his head in anger frustrated with himself that he has not finished Hardy off. Hardy chants echo around the arena as the crowd try to will on Hardy, and this frustrates Kennedy who shouts to the crowd to shut up. Kennedy then pulls Hardy closer to the corner of the ring before making his way up the turnbuckle. Kennedy wastes even more time taunting the crowd telling them that he is going to become the King of the Ring. Kennedy however has his back turned to Matt Hardy, and it is obvious that Kennedy has made a big mistake as Hardy quickly gets to his feet and grabs hold of Kennedy’s arms and uses a move which he hasn’t hit in a very long time CONNECTING WITH A CRUCIFIX POWERBOMB OFF THE MIDDLE ROPE ONTO KEN KENNEDY!! The crowd loves the spot and they realise that this is the time that Matt Hardy can get himself back into the match, but that move took as much out of Hardy as it did for Kennedy. The referee starts counting down both men who are at this moment absolutely exhausted after all the action they have been through tonight
1………………………2……………………….3………………………4………………………..5………………….6………………7………Finally some movement is seen as Kennedy starts to slowly get up to his feet………….8……..Kennedy is nearly up to his feet as Matt Hardy finally makes some movement……….9……..Kennedy is up to his feet but can Hardy get to his…………YES HE CAN, JUST!!

Both men approach one another and Kennedy throws a right hand, but Hardy blocks it and throws one of his own. Kennedy throws another one, which is again blocked and Hardy connects with another hard right hand. Hardy then pounds away at Kennedy into the corner of the ring and he pounds away at him into the corner of the ring with some hard right hands. Hardy then whips Kennedy into the opposite corner before running up and hitting a turnbuckle clothesline nearly taking Kennedy out of his boots. Hardy then sets him up for a bulldog, but Kennedy pushes Hardy away off the ropes. Kennedy goes to catch Hardy off the ropes with a clothesline, but Hardy ducks and sets him up for the Side Effect, but Kennedy elbows his way out of it before hoisting him onto his shoulders setting him up for a Rolling Samoan Drop. Hardy however slides off Kennedy’s shoulders and goes for the TWIST OF FATE, BUT KENNEDY PUSHES HARDY AWAY OFF THE ROPES! Kennedy goes to catch him with a clothesline, but Hardy slides between the legs of Kennedy before kicking him in the mid section and connecting with a DDT! Hardy briefly holds onto his ribs before making the cover

Hardy very slowly picks up Kennedy to his feet and he starts throwing some hard right hands to Kennedy before whipping him off the ropes. Kennedy catches Hardy by surprise however as he comes back off the ropes with a dropkick to the knees of Matt Hardy, and just as Hardy starts getting up to his feet Kennedy comes from behind with a chop block to the back of Hardy’s legs. Kennedy then grabs Hardy’s leg and he signals for the figure 4 leg lock which gets some “Whooos” from the crowd. Kennedy goes to lock it on but Hardy kicks Kennedy away off the ropes. Hardy bends through the middle and top rope and drives his shoulder into the sternum of Kennedy, before flipping over the top rope and over a bending Ken Kennedy trying to take him down with a sunset flip. Kennedy tries to block it by holding onto the ropes, but Hardy pulls him down and the referee makes the count 1…………2…………Kennedy kicks out! Hardy gets to his feet and he meets Kennedy as he gets to is with an Oklahoma Roll as the crowd count along with the referee as they have done during these succession of pinfalls with the crowd really getting into this action 1…………2…………Kick out by Kennedy which frustrates Hardy who is doing everything he can to get the win

Hardy then drags Ken Kennedy to his feet and sets him up, before attempting a Crucifix Powerbomb! But Hardy hasn’t got enough strength to hold Kennedy up by his arms and Kennedy slides off behind Hardy. Kennedy then pushes Hardy away off the ropes, but Kennedy ducks down too early and Hardy kicks Kennedy Square in the face. Hardy then trips Ken Kennedy by the legs and pulls him closer towards the corner, before catapulting Kennedy face first into the turnbuckle! Ken Kennedy then staggers back into a seated Matt Hardy who pulls him down into a pinning predicament 1…………2…………Kennedy gets his shoulder up! KENNEDY IS THE KING OF THE RING!!!

Winner of the match and the 2006 King of the Ring Ken Kennedy in 16:30

Kennedy’s music hits and Kennedy sits up and at first looks surprised, but then smiles realising that he has become the King of the Ring. Kennedy gets to his feet very slowly and the referee goes to raise his hand, but Kennedy pushes him onto his Keister and then celebrates in the corner telling the crowd that he is the King.

JR: KENNEDY IS THE KING OF THE RING! KEN KENNEDY HAS DONE IT! Ken Kennedy has become the 2006 King of the Ring and he has done it against an in form Matt Hardy and he has earned himself a World Title Shot at the Great American Bash.

Tazz: I told you JR my man would do it. As good as Matt Hardy is, Ken Kennedy showed why he is the future of this company but what a match between the two, off the hook-wrestling match.

JR: Both men fought heart and soul to become the King of the Ring, but on this night Ken Kennedy was the better man but you have to feel sorry for Matt Hardy, he put on a hell of an effort and after all this time he has finally lost.

Tazz: Have to agree with you JR, I will give my dues to Matt Hardy but it is Ken Kennedy who has proved himself as the fastest rising superstar in the whole of wrestling.

JR: And Tazz at the Great American Bash, Ken Kennedy will main event his first ever PPV against the new World Heavyweight Champion Batista!

Tazz: The Ken Kennedy era could begin in just a matter of weeks JR.

WWE 24/7 promo

We then go backstage to see Ken Kennedy arriving the backstage area with a bottle of champagne in hand and Josh Matthews’s rushes over to him to get a post match interview. Ken Kennedy takes a swig and then listens to Josh.

Josh: Ken Kennedy well done you have become King of the Ring……

Kennedy: Josh Matthews like all Kings, Ken Kennedy has a list of commandments and the one at the top is that Josh Matthews you should shut your mouth and never speak when you’re around the King. Josh Matthews this is not only the greatest moment of my life, it is the greatest moment in your life and all these chumps in the crowds lives!

Crowd Boos

Kennedy: Because you have all witnessed Ken Kennedy beat three men to become the KING OF THE RING…….RINGGGG!

Crowd Boos

Kennedy: Josh firstly you saw me beat Gregory Helms. He is a tough kid I will give him that, but I am just plain simply better than him and quite frankly no fake Superhero can beat me! Then you saw me beat Rey Mysterio. God this is the King of the Ring you should at least give me tougher opposition, it was more midget tossing than a King of the Ring Semi Final. And last but not least I beat Matt Hardy, the man who claims he won’t die. Well Matt I just proved you don’t have what it takes to be a top superstar, you’re a micarder for life and I proved that to the world tonight. So Matt what I advise you to do is get yourself fired just like your brother, and follow his footsteps because Matt that is about as HIGH as you will ever get if you know what I mean.

Kennedy laughs as the crowd boos

Kennedy: But now is a time of celebration, so all of you lowlife chumps in this arena get on your knees and bow down to the King!

Crowd Boos as Kennedy looks at Josh Matthews.

Kennedy: I meant you aswell Josh, GET ON YOUR KNEES.

Ken Kennedy grabs Matthews and pushes him down onto his knees as the crowd boos

Kennedy: YOU CAN ALL SHUT UP AND SHOW ME SOME RESPECT BECAUSE NOT ONLY AM I THE KING OF THE RING, BUT AT THE GREAT AMERICAN BASH I WILL BE THE NEW WORLD HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONNNN!!

Crowd Boos

Kennedy: So ladies and Gentleman say it loud, say it proud. Your 2006 King of the Ring winner MISTTTTEERRRRRR KINNNNNGG KENNNNEDDDDDDYYYYY……………….KENNNEEDDDDDDYYYYYY

The camera then cuts across, and we see Christian, Tyson Tomko and Maria walking through the backstage area around of the main event, as we appear to be getting ready for the monthly Maria interview of Christian. Maria then starts by asking about this being a 3 stages of hell match, and gets in the obvious joke about what the 3 stages of hell are, and how does he plan to survive them.
Christian gives the equally corny reply of stage 1 being forced to spend an hour in the same room as Britney Spears. He says that the second stage of hell would have to be not having you (Maria) by his side and his faithful friend Tomko following him around wherever he goes, to which Tomko claims he is more than just a friend, trying to make it sound like they are brothers, but it just comes off as Tomko sounding like he fancies Christian, to which Christian points to Maria, as whispers that he is into her, not you
The 3rd stage though is directed at Jericho, that being it would be hell to lose the WWE Title. He says that he has got used to holding this piece of gold around his waist, over his shoulder, or wherever he has it, and it would be hell to give it up anytime soon. He tells Jericho he can bring everything that he has to this match... all his experience, and tells him he could even bring Fozzy along if he wants, but it isn’t going to matter. He says that he is happy to go through hell, but will return with the WWE Title, BECAUSE THAT’S HOW HE ROLLS!

Match 10 - Christian w/Tyson Tomko vs. Chris Jericho © - WWE Title – 3 stages of hell match

Fall 1: Normal Match

The two men enter the ring, and they stare straight into the eyes of each other, looking for any weakness that they may have. The referee goes over to Christian, and he checks him over to see whether he has any weapons concealed on his person, before doing the same to Jericho. He confirms that they haven’t, and then he motions to the timekeepers to ring the bell, and he does so, to a huge pop from the crowd, as this main event is about to get underway. Jericho and Christian are still staring at each other, and then they move towards each other in the centre of the ring, and Jericho starts to trash talk Christian, only for Christian to start talking straight back at him, as there is a very intense confrontation in the middle of the ring. Jericho then motions as if he wants to conduct a tie-up in the middle of the ring with Christian, wanting to see whether he can get the advantage, but Christian just responds with a huge slap to the face of Jericho, drawing a huge pop from the crowd, as the physicality has began. Christian then nails a right hand to Jericho, and then a third, as the match begins. Christian stays on the offensive, and nails a fourth right hand to Jericho, who slides out of the ring, and to the outside to avoid the impact of Christian’s punches.

The crowd boo, as they want a match rather than what Jericho is doing, as he stalls for time on the outside, and re-composes himself ahead of the rest of the match. He motions to re-enter the ring, but he sees Christian come towards him, so he drops back off the apron and to the outside, not wanting to go anywhere near the challenger to his title unless he can get into the ring of his own accord. He gets onto the apron again, and again, he sees Christian coming towards him and Christian tells Jericho to get in the ring, so Jericho makes his way into it. They start to circle each other again, as the match prepares to begin for a second time, and this time they do lock up in the middle of the ring, as a battle of strength begins between Jericho and Christian. Christian gets the early advantage here, and he manages to push Jericho towards the ropes, only for Jericho to fight back, and push Christian towards the corner of the ring, where the ref comes in and tells the two of them to break it up so the match can remain clean. Jericho releases Christian from his grip, and then he swings a right hand at him, only for Christian to dodge it, and then unleash a huge chop across the chest of Jericho. He then hits another chop to him, and then a third, as Christian has all the momentum in the first part of this match. He goes for a fourth chop, but Jericho beats him to it, and fights back with a chop to Christian, and then another one, and then a third, as Jericho starts to build some momentum against the challenger. He whips him back into the same corner of the ring that they just came from, and then goes for a running clothesline, but Christian blocks it with a chop, and then another one, and a third chop, as the chest of Jericho begins to redden. Christian then nails a right hand to Jericho, and then he whips him into the corner of the ring. Christian then tries to same move Jericho did, the running clothesline, but once again it doesn’t connect, as this time Jericho moves out of the way, and Christian hits the turnbuckle. Jericho then rolls up Christian from behind,

1…………………

2…………………..

And Christian kicks out of the first pinning attempt of the match, as the two men get back to their feet, and stare at each other in the middle of the ring again. A Christian chant breaks out in the crowd, and Christian acknowledges this by pounding his chest, which gets a big pop from the crowd. Jericho then tries to get in on the act, by posing and taunting the crowd as well, only for Christian to take advantage of this lapse in concentration by nailing him with a right hand in the middle of the ring, and then another one. Christian then whips Jericho into the ropes, and as he comes off them, Christian nails him with the powerslam, and he makes the cover,

1…………………

2…………………

And a kick out from Jericho, who isn’t willing to let his title go that easily. Christian though nails a right hand to Jericho, and then another one, before lifting him up, and locking in a side headlock. He then runs with it, and bounces off the ropes, before taking down Jericho with a shoulder block. Christian carries on running, and comes off the ropes on the other side of the ring, and goes for a clothesline, but Jericho ducks it, and as Christian comes off the ropes again, Jericho plants him with a spinning heel kick, and he covers him,

1………………….

2…………………….

And Christian gets the shoulder up, keeping this title match alive for a little bit longer. But Jericho continues his offence, and he drops his knee across the chest of Christian, and then again, and then for a third time, as he shows some variety in his offence by not going for the same moves he uses every match. Jericho then lifts Christian up by his head, before chopping him across the chest again, and then again, before lifting him up, and nailing a snap suplex to him in the middle of the ring, as Christian’s back crashes into the canvas. Jericho then hooks the leg, and looks for the cover which will keep the title around his waist,

1……………….

2…………………

And Christian gets the shoulder up, as it is clear that this match will not end that easily. Jericho stomps on Christian, before picking him up, and whipping him across the ring, and into the turnbuckle. Jericho goes over to it, and then he chops Christian across the chest, and then again, before he climbs to the second rope, and he starts to nail Christian in the face with a series of right hands. He nails them, but Christian with a bolt of energy manages to nail the snake eyes to Jericho, who falls down and whose face crashes straight into the turnbuckle, knocking Jericho out. Christian then nails a neckbreaker to Jericho, and covers,

1…………………..

2……………………

And Jericho gets the shoulder up, but the counter from Christian could well have changed the way that this match is going. Christian is the first to his feet, and he nails Jericho with a right hand, and then another one, before catching him with an uppercut. Christian then takes Jericho down with a simple bodyslam, before looking at him, and deciding to move to the top rope. Christian climbs to the top rope, but as he does so, Jericho gets back up to his feet, and he walks over to the ropes with him. Jericho tries to climb to the top turnbuckle, but Christian nails him with a right hand, which knocks him back down, but Jericho gets straight back up. Christian is trying to steady himself on the top rope, as Jericho climbs back up, and nails Christian with a shot to his kidney’s, before trying to lock in the superplex. He goes for it, and tries to lift Christian up, but Christian holds on to the ropes, and then he pushes Jericho down to the mat. Christian then stands up on the top rope, and goes for the diving cross body to Jericho, ONLY FOR JERICHO TO COUNTER WITH A MID-AIR ENZIGURI TO CHRISTIAN, KNOCKING CHRISTIAN DOWN. Jericho crawls over to Christian, and covers,

1…………………..

2…………………..

And Christian gets the shoulder up, which comes as a surprise to Jericho, who was sure that his big move would have got the job done. However, on a replay we see that Jericho didn’t catch all of the enzeguiri, which could explain how Christian manages to kick out. Jericho though nails Christian with a right hand, and then he takes him down to the floor again with a snapmare takedown, and covers again, trying to wear Christian out in the early going,

1……………….

2………………..

And again, Jericho doesn’t get the 3 count as Christian kicks out, but Jericho hooks the leg again,

1…………………..

2…………………….

And Christian kicks out with ease, but he is being forced to expend energy all the time. Jericho picks Christian up, and then he whips him towards the ropes. Christian bounces off the ropes, and Jericho cleverly uses the momentum that he has given to Christian to throw him over the top rope. However, Christian manages to hang on to the top rope, and keep himself on the apron, BUT JERICHO ANTICIPATES THIS, AND NAILS THE SPRINGBOARD DROPKICK TO HIM, KNOCKING CHRISTIAN OFF THE APRON AND TO THE CONCRETE FLOOR.

There is a brief pop for the athleticism that Jericho showed, and the fact there was a nice spot in the match, but then the boos start up again as Jericho flexes his muscles for the crowd as he stands on the ringside apron, looking down at Christian. Jericho then stands there, and he waits for Christian to get to his feet, and as he does so, Jericho leaps off the apron, and he catches Christian with a flying clothesline, knocking Christian off his feet, as the referee starts a count

1………………..

2…………………

As Jericho picks up Christian, and he takes him over towards the steel steps, and he nails his head off them, and then again as he causes more damage to the challenger to the title

3………………

Jericho then drags Christian a few metres away from the steel steps, before setting him up for a big irish whip which he delivers, and Christian goes shoulder/head first into the steel steps, as Jericho is continuing his assault on the challenger.

4………………..

5………………….

Jericho then picks Christian back up, and he rolls him back into the ring, and then covers, looking for the win to regain the title

1……………….

2……………..

And Christian gets the shoulder up, with him not wanting to give up the title just yet. Jericho though is disappointed that his assault on the outside of the ring didn’t get the match won, and so, Jericho slides back outside of the ring and then grabs the legs of Christian, and pulls him under the bottom rope and to the outside of the ring. Jericho then takes Christian, and he drags him across to the steel steps again, and once again, he goes to nail his head off it, but this time, Christian telegraphs it, and puts his hands out to block the move. Christian then nails an elbow to the gut of Jericho, before smashing Jericho’s head against the steps to a big pop from the crowd as he fights back into the match.

1…………….

Christian then drags Jericho away from the ring apron and over to the barricade, where he whips Jericho into it, and his back crashes into the metal

2……………….

Christian then runs at Jericho, and he nails him with a running knee which knocks Jericho to floor, and allows Christian to gain an upper hand

3…………………

Christian then nails a stomp to Jericho, and another one, and then another one, as Jericho is being beaten down by the feet of Christian into the floor.

4………………

Christian then drags Jericho up to his feet, and then nails him with a chop to the chest, and then another one, before going for a clothesline, looking to nail Jericho over the barricade and into the crowd. However, Jericho sees it coming, and he ducks the attempted shot, and manages to nail a back body drop to Christian, who goes over the barricade and into the crowd

5…………………

Jericho then crawls back towards the ring, knowing a count out win would enable him to retain the title, while Christian is still laid out in the crowd area

6……………….

Jericho has made it to the apron with his crawling, as the crowd are cheering for and willing on Christian to make it, but he hasn’t got to his feet yet, and so this match may end in a countout

7………………..

Jericho makes it back into the ring, and he readies himself to stand by the ropes and do whatever he needs to do to stop Christian getting back into the ring, while Christian has made it back to his feet, but hasn’t got over the barricade yet

8…………………

Jericho is still waiting for Christian to come back to the ring, but he is struggling to make it over the barricade. However, Tyson Tomko comes to the aid of Christian, and he picks him up, and he carries him to the edge of the ring

9…………………

Christian is rolled into the ring by Tomko, the problem solver who has just lived up to his name to a huge pop from the crowd, as Jericho is beside himself that he hasn’t got the match won, even though he was sure he was going to get the countout win. Jericho stands are stares straight at Tomko, and swears that he will get him back for this, while Tomko just smiles, and says he was doing his job. Jericho then goes back on the attack on Christian, but the delay enables Christian to roll up Jericho,

1………………

2………………….

And Jericho powers out at the last second, almost having had the title lost due to a momentary lapse in his concentration, and after getting out of the pin, he nails a huge kick to the midsection of Christian, and then another one, and then a third, as he re-establishes his dominance in the match with these series of kicks. Jericho then climbs up onto the second rope, and then he jumps off the ropes, landing with a stomp to the midsection of Christian, keeping him grounded so that the champion can control the match. Jericho then decides to go for the cover, just in case he has done enough to get the win,

1…………………

2……………….

And Christian kicks out, keeping the match going but straight away, Jericho nails a right hand to him, and then another one, as he doesn’t want to give Christian even a second to catch his breath and to keep the match going. Jericho then lifts up Christian, and he chops him across the chest, and then again, and then a third time, before posing for a few seconds, just to garner up a bit more heat from the crowd, as he goes for a big right hand to Christian. However, the momentary wait allows Christian a chance to counter, and he does so by ducking the right hand, and then planting Jericho with a ddt in the middle of the ring. He covers quickly, hoping to catch Jericho off guard again,

1………………….

2………………………

And Jericho gets the shoulder up at the last, almost being caught off guard again by Christian in this title match up. But now the momentum of it has shifted, and it is Christian who is control of the contest, who nails another chop to the chest of Jericho, and then another one, and then a third, as Jericho start to reel. Christian then puts a facelock in on Jericho, and lifts him high into the air, before delivering the vertical suplex to him, and then covering again, hoping it will get him the win,

1…………………

2…………………..

And Jericho once again kicks out, keeping the title alive for a bit longer. Christian though is gaining in momentum, and pounds his chest, which gets a good pop from the crowd. He then drags Jericho up, and he chops him across the chest, before whipping him across to the corner of the ring. Jericho crashes into the turnbuckle, and then Christian nails him with a clothesline, as Jericho groggily stumbles back into the corner. Christian then climbs to the second turnbuckle, and he takes the head of Jericho, AND NAILS HIM WITH THE REVERSE TORNADO DDT, knocking Jericho to the mat. Christian then covers, looking for the win,

1……………………

2……………………..

And Jericho gets the shoulder up, as he keeps himself involved in the first fall of the match.

(and this is where I got with writing the match before I lost the rest of it... shame, it is was one of the best matches I’d ever written... the rest is recapped)

Christian then continues to attack Jericho, nailing him with another reverse ddt and almost gets the win, but Jericho continues to kick out of whatever is thrown at him. Christian then goes for the Unprettier, but Jericho reverses it, and then he manages to nail the Bulldog, and then he hits the Lionsault... and goes for the cover, but Christian kicks out on 2. Jericho then goes to the top rope and goes for the moonsault, but Christian rolls out of the way, and then manages to HIT THE UNPRETTIER TO JERICHO, AND GETS THE 3 COUNT

Christian wins the first fall at 18:20 by pinfall

Fall 2 – The Street Fight

Christian quickly goes for a second cover, looking to end the match immediately, but Jericho manages to kick out after the delay, and keep his title hopes alive. Christian though is the one who has all the momentum in the match, and keeps Jericho down by nailing with a run of 5 successive suplexes as he makes sure that he is in control of the match.
After failing to get the 3 count, he goes out of the ring and brings in a few weapons from under the ring such as a trash can, a steel chair, but also a ladder which is their for the final fall of the match. The ladder happens to be his downfall though, as Jericho manages to nail a springboard dropkick to him, and kicks the ladder into his face. Jericho then takes the trash can, and he just unloads with it on Christian, hitting shot after shot after shot to him, as Christian is left reeling in the corner, but still has enough to get a foot on the ropes when Jericho makes the cover.
Jericho then picks up Christian and nails the double powerbomb to him, but onto a steel chair... but again Christian manages to kickout and keep the match alive.
Jericho then goes and gets out a table, and sets it out on the edge of the ring, but as he rolls back into the ring, Christian manages to nail him around the head with a steel chair, but Jericho shows some fighting spirit and manages to kick out of it.
Christian then drags Jericho out of the ring, and they go over to the announce table, and after a brief skirmish, Christian goes to hit Jericho with then Unprettier through the table, only for Jericho to counter it, and manage to suplex Christian through the table and to the floor.
Christian looks to be knocked out as Jericho drags him back to the ring, AND THEN LOCKS IN THE WALLS OF JERICHO ON HIM IN THE CENTRE OF IT. Christian tries to fight it, and drags his body towards the ropes, but realises that he having to put in too much effort for this, AND TAPS OUT, LEVELLING THE MATCH AT 1-1

Chris Jericho wins the 2nd fall by Submission at 29:10

3rd fall – The Ladder Match

The ladder match begins with Jericho taking the ladder that was in the ring and battering Christian over the head with it, and then again, and then for a third time as he is trying to make certain that he stays down. He then rests the ladder on top of Christian, before going outside the ring and bringing in 2 more ladders to the ring, as well as sliding a table into the ring and setting it up in the corner. He then takes Christian, who is just getting up over towards the table, and goes to slingshot him through the table, but Christian kicks Jericho away, AND THEN THROWS THE TRASH CAN AT JERICHO TO KNOCK HIM DOWN.
Christian then grabs one of the ladders, and hits Jericho in the chest with it, before taking him and throwing him through the table. He then takes the ladder, sets it up in the middle of the ring, and tries to climb for the title, but Jericho isn’t dead yet and manages to recover and pushes Christian off the top, and hangs him on the ropes which he lands on. Jericho then hits Christian with the flashback, and then slowly tries to climb the ladder himself, but Christian recovers quickly enough to try and climb it with him. The two of them make their way up the ladder, and get to the top and can reach the belt... but they both throw a punch at each other, and knock each other to the ground.
They both slowly recover, as they trade right hands on the floor, before Christian manages to NAIL THE UNPRETTIER TO JERICHO, which surely must end the match. He slowly makes his way up the ladder, but Jericho manages to grab another ladder from the floor and hits the ladder with it, knocking the ladder over, as Christian crashes over the top rope and to the floor, and is surely out of the match.
Jericho then steadies himself and the ladder as he very slowly starts to climb it. He takes it a step at a time, but doesn’t look to have any energy left to make it to the top. He slowly reaches out, but just as he gets his fingertips to the belt, Christian has somehow managed to roll back into the ring. Jericho touches the belt, as Christian grabs the ladder away from underneath him, and places it to the side. Jericho is left hanging on from the belt, as Christian slowly starts to climb up the ladder towards the top. Jericho is trying as hard as he can, but he cannot pull the belt down from the straps. Christian makes it to the top of the ladder, and he takes hold of Jericho...AND THROWS HIM FROM HANGING ON TO THE BELTS TO THE TABLES THAT WERE SET UP ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE RING!
Christian looks down on Jericho, as he pulls down the WWE Title, and retains it
.

Christian wins the 3rd fall, and therefore the match at 43:10 and retains the WWE Title

Christian sits on top of the ladder, holding the title in the air, as the ppv goes off the air, showing that once again he has proven he is the best in the business.

Wow, great to see this finally up. Will take a bit for my review to go up as I am also reviewing Szumi and KOM's latest PPV's, but you'll see one from me soon.

Good to see you get the show up eventually boys. It looks immense, damn shame about half the Main Event getting lost. It looked immense. I'll definitely be endeavouring to get some feedback up for you both in the not to distant future.

Ok will keep this short..

I have had a think over the last few days and i have decided that my reign as the writer of Smackdown ends here.

I had thought for awhile to have one final solo thread when i finished with this thread, and when FD gave me the choice of staying on with this thread or starting a new one. I decided that this is the best time to start that solo thread, with FD starting to be less active. I would like to thank everybody who reviewed my shows in this thread and FD for letting me be his partner for the last two years and as i told him i wish him good luck in the future with this thread.

Expect my new thread to be up at the start of December but until then i will try stay active and start reviewing shows again.

Oh wow, did not see that coming, although now that you've said it, I can see it. I wish you the best man. As for this thread's future... I dunno now. I can't see FD having the desire to keep doing this on his own, but who knows. I wish ya'lls both the best.

My favourite partnership comes to an end

Well I dunno how FD is gonna manage by himself, considering he's pretty much part time around BTB these days, but good luck to you Kane01 in your new thread which I know will be a good read when it begins.

That's a blow, considering the two of you have been together since the day before forever. Good luck to the both of you.

Who says I can't do this thread on my own? (although that was the reason why I got a partner in the first place...)

This thread will be continuing for as long as I can keep the thread alive, or come to a point where I think that it makes sense to end the thread.

Both Raw and Smackdown will be done in recap form from now on though, and in all likelyhood, so will the ppv's (although I may write the odd match/promo), so I will try and keep the thread alive by booking rather than the actual writing (although I'm out of practise, so I don't quite know how it will come off)

I'll give it a few days for people to get comments/reviews/whatever you want to say about King of the Ring before I post Raw, but it will be put up this week, and I'll try to write it in a fashion that means that it explains why everything is happening, as I expect some people have forgotten what went beforehand

Thanks once again to Kane01 for being my partner all this time, and good luck to him in his new thread
