WWE: Monday Night RAW -- June 5th -- Review
Rey Mysterio vs. Umaga is definitely fresh, and the way you explained the match looked tremendous to me. All of the highlights were special, and I'm not really shocked to see Umaga not advancing to the tournament, and that's only because I think he still needs more build up. Umaga vs. Holly looks to be the starting for Umaga in this thread. Anyway, apart from Umaga, Mysterio's win against Umaga, albeit with countout, adds lot of hype to Mysterio's character, and he might win the King of the Ring, but Rob Van Dam of SmackDown is my pick to win the King of the Ring.

Heh, Grisham was just standing right there, and he didn't even ask a question from Cena. Anyway, Cena speaks, and this promo was just okay, nothing too special. I really didn't like when Cena said that 'Taker came to Cena. I don't really think 'Taker is that kind of a character, and it would've been better if you would have introduced The Undertaker as Cena's partner in some other way.

I know that Matt Hardy is an Intercontinental Champion and a holder of MITB, but I still don't like seeing him kicking out of Booker's finishing move, Scissors Kick. I know that it makes Matt stronger, but at the same hand, it makes Booker's finishing move weak. Anyway, it certainly looked like a good match, but I still don't like the kickout from Matt, who then wins the match, as expected, and advances. Let me say this, I really won't be surprised if Matt wins this thing, but Rob Van Dam is still my pick, so let's see.

Interesting promo by CM Punk, who will face JBL tonight. Let me tell you this: there match will be amazing, and a match to watch out for. Onto the predictions, I can't really predict anyone, so just let's see who will be able to win this match up.

Gregory Helms winning this match up was an obvious and good booking choice to me, but I don't really think he'll be able to become the King of the Ring. After what J.R. and The King said, I think that Helms will certainly get a good push through this tourney, but he can't win it though, and that's for sure.

Now this promo here from Chris Jericho was a hit and a miss (Only because I saw some lines that Jericho already said in the last week's show if I'm not mistaken). Apart from that, this promo certainly does a good job of hyping Jericho's feud with Christian. An okayish promo, but let me just tell you, that I really like the sign of respect that Jericho showed at the start of this promo. I was surprised to see no Christian and Tomko though.

I liked the Matt Hardy vs. Booker T match, but I think that this match was better than that, and more credit goes to CM Punk, who fought JBL intensely. Great battle between two amazing superstars, and all of the highlights were good, specially when Booker came out of nowhere to save JBL, who then picked up a win later on. I sense a Punk vs. Booker feud coming up in these up-coming weeks, whilst JBL will certainly have a good run in this tourney, but I don't expect him to win this though.

I liked this promo, but that's only because of Kurt Angle's lines, and I don't know why, but whenever I read a promo by him: I sense the intensity, and the same case was here. Great promo, and the Rey Mysterio/Kurt Angle confrontation was done greatly too. I feel Kurt screwing Rey out of the King of the Ring, and then Rey and Kurt having a match at some point.

Now this is really very interesting. I mean, the women's division looks very interesting to me: thanks to Britney Stratus. It looked like just an okay match to me, and Williams picking up a victory in her debut match, although via DQ was alright. Nice little moment from the sisters (Trish and Britney) after the match.

Promo of the night. Yeah. Eric Bischoff was just amazing. You know, you always capture his cockiness, and heel persona very, very well. Vince's part was great as well, and now we certainly have a good storyline. Let's see what happens in two weeks though. Great promo.

It was an amazing way to close such a great night. All of the highlights in this match were special, and I like the fact that DX will head into the pay-per-view with all of the momentum, but I can't really predict who'se gonna win at the pay-per-view. Great match up, and I liked that Cena and Christian didn't double cross each other.

Smackdown Preview-9th June

Just two days away from the King Of The Ring what will go down as Smackdown rolls into Dayton Ohio.

A huge main event was made last week for this edition of Smackdown, as two of the biggest stars in the WWE collide as Batista takes on The Rock. This is arguably the biggest main event in the history of WWE Smackdown and who will get the advantage just days away before their five pack challenge for the World Heavyweight Championship which also involves Edge, Brock Lesnar and Kane who will sure be watching this match.

Also we have the last batch of King of the Ring Qualifiers. Who will join Gregory Helms, Matt Hardy, JBL, Rey Mysterio and Ken Kennedy in the Quarter Finals. The three matches to determine the last three spots in the Quarter Finals include Smackdowns newest face Rob Van Dam taking on the Cruiserweight Champion Paul London. Also Shelton Benjamin takes on Kid Kash and Carlito takes on the “Masterpiece” Chris Masters.

And finally what will go down in the continuing saga involving Randy Orton and General Manager Mick Foley. Randy Orton has said that he will come out to address Mick Foley rejecting his challenge to a match last week on Smackdown.

All this and more, only on Friday Night Smackdown.

Smackdown will be up tommorow

WWE Smackdown-2nd June 2006 from Dayton Ohio(Recap)

After the traditional opening video package and hype of the show by Michael Cole and Tazz, Randy Orton makes his way down to the ring with a microphone and a steel chair in hand. Randy Orton talks about what happened last week on Smackdown saying how Mick Foley rejected his challenge like a coward. Orton says that Mick Foley can make any crap up about how he can not wrestle anymore, but the only reason he rejected the challenge is because he is scared of Randy Orton. He says that Mick Foley does not have the guts to one more time step into the ring one on one with the Legend Killer. Orton says that he understands why Foley is scared of him. He says that Mick Foley might survive falling off a hell in a cell, having his ear ripped off in a match, countless steel chair shots to the head but he would not be able to survive one second in the ring with Randy Orton. Orton then tries to persuade Foley into a accepting the offer by saying how Mick Foley lived on a career, where he was not afraid of doing anything, no matter what it took to be what he is today. Orton then says that he is giving Foley one more chance to step away from being a washed up coward what he has become now, and prove himself in the ring one on one with Randy Orton. Orton then sits himself on the steel chair he brought to the ring, and he tells Mick that he is not going to leave the ring until Mick Foley comes out and gives him the answer he wants. Orton then sits down and the crowd boos Orton who says he will take all night if he has to. Mick Foley does appear but on the Titantron. Mick Foley he has said he is considering changing his mind and he will give Orton his answer after his match tonight, which is next. Then “I am” hits and AJ Styles makes his way down to the ring ahead of his biggest match on Smackdown to date with Randy Orton. Orton smiles as we go to a commercial knowing he might get his match with Mick Foley before frowning knowing he has to face AJ Styles next.

When we come back from commercial we join the match which was made moments ago between Randy Orton and AJ Styles. The start of the match it seems as though Orton’s mind is on Mick Foley announcing if he will face Randy Orton in a match after this match is done with, allowing AJ Styles to make a good start to the match coming close to beating Orton just over a minute in with the Pele Kick. Randy Orton started to pick things up though when he hit a DDT to AJ Styles whose legs were hanging over the middle rope. The next few minutes saw Randy Orton work over the head of AJ Styles, hitting a stiff kick to the face of AJ Styles, followed by a big knee drop over the face and he nearly picked up the victory after a Gutwrench elevated neckbreaker with AJ landing on the back of his head. AJ got back into the match when Randy Orton set him up for a Super RKO off the top ropeonly for AJ Styles to counter it with a Tornado DDT. The last few moments of the match was pretty back and forth with both men coming close to victory with AJ Styles getting closest to victory after a shooting star press only for Orton to kick out at 2. The ending of the match saw Randy Orton signal for the RKO on AJ Styles only for him to notice something strange on the Titantron. He sees a video game version of himself facing a video game version of Mankind on the latest Smackdown game and we see Mankind locking on the Mandible Claw onto Randy Orton who submits! We then go to Mick Foley’s office with Mick Foley sitting down with a play station control in hand and Mick Foley celebrates like he just won the super bowl even though it was just a victory over Randy Orton on a videogame. Foley then looks to the camera and says that Randy Orton had his chance against him and he lost, and that he would get no rematch. Foley tells Orton to have a nice day. And as Orton is frustrated in the middle of the ring we see AJ Styles on the ring apron waiting for Orton to turn around, Orton does so and AJ hits a springboard Hurricarana onto Orton and AJ STYLES PICKS UP THE 3 COUNT OVER RANDY ORTON! AJ Styles celebrates his win on the outside as Randy Orton is left frustrated in the ring on what just went down. Orton goes in a mega strop shouting at Cole and Tazz at ringside and kicking the steel steps on the outside as we go to a commercial.

We go backstage to see Randy Orton storming down the backstage area and he storms into Mick Foley’s office, but he storms into to see no one there. Orton sees the vacant World Heavyweight championship lying on Foley’s desk and he goes to take a look at it, but he realises that somebody is hiding under the table and it turns out to be Chavo Guerrero. Orton asks Chavo what the hell he is doing and Chavo says he was just doing his shoelaces. Chavo then distracts Orton telling him Mick Foley is on the television. Orton looks at the television and Mick Foley is not on it, before turning around to see that Chavo Guerrero is not there and mysteriously the World Heavyweight Championship belt which was on the table is not there.

The next match of our evening saw our first of three King of the Ring matches tonight as the Cruiserweight Champion Paul London takes on Rob Van Dam accompanied to the ring by manager Paul Heyman. This was a very fast paced back and forth exciting match with Paul London proving a credible opponent for Van Dam. Paul London put on a great effort coming close to victory on multiple occasions but couldn’t get RVD down for the three count. The ending of the match saw Paul Heyman distract the referee allowing RVD to hit the Van Daminator onto London followed by the five star frog splash to pick up the victory and advance to the Quarter Finals of the King of the Ring.

After the match Rob Van Dam grabbed a mic and said that the fans better get used to RVD celebrating a victory, because at the King of the Ring he is going to be celebrating 3 times when he beats three men in one night to become King of the Ring. Rob Van Dam then stands above a fallen Paul London and gets in his face and tells London that RVD 4:20 just smoked your ass.

We then go backstage to see the tag team champions Triple X backstage with Josh Matthews. Josh Matthews is about to conduct an interview when Finlay and Paul Burchill walk into the frame. Finlay introduces himself to Triple X saying he is Finlay and he loves to fight, Paul Burchill then interrupts and says that his name is Burchill and he also loves to fight. Finlay gives Burchill an evil look, and Burchill says not as much as Finlay though. Finlay then moves on saying that if Triple X had any guts they would put up their championships against Finlay and Burchill. Triple X accept Finlay’s challenge and Chris Daniels cuts a promo similar to the one he did two weeks ago in his fallen angel character says that Finlay and Burchill’s saving grace will be for Triple X to give them a quick painful defeat because there is no way that Finlay and Burchill can ever beat the Greatest Tag Team Champions of all time. Chris Daniels then finishes off by saying that’s the gospel according to Triple X and they go to walk off when Finlay and Burchill suddenly attack both Skipper and Daniels from behind. Paul Burchill tosses Elix Skipper into the wall as Finlay cracks the shillelagh over the head of Chris Daniels. Burchill suggests to Finlay that they go to the local pub as they walk off leaving Chris Daniels and Elix Skipper in a heap on the floor.

After a commercial we go backstage to see Edge backstage speaking somebody on his mobile. We hear him say “If you help me this Sunday, I will do a favour for you and next next week on Smackdown we strike”. A few moments later we hear Edge say “OK that’s a deal see you on Sunday”. Edge then hangs up the phone and he smiles sadistically as Cole and Tazz ponder on what Edge is taking about and then suddenly we hear a bang and we hear the sound of two people fighting in the background. Edge walks out of his locker room to see what it is and we see Kane and Brock Lesnar going at it in a brawl. We see referees and road agents attempting to split the two men up as Edge smiles loving what he sees. However Kane sees Edge smiling and he pushes the referees and road agents out of the way and he goes after Edge, who sprints away for his life. Before we can see what happens we go back to ringside.

In the second King of the Ring match of the night two of Smackdown’s newest superstars competed in a match to see who would advance to the fantastic eight in the King of the Ring tournament as Shelton Benjamin takes on Kid Kash. This was pretty much similar to the match between RVD v London in that Kid Kash put on a good match against a much more credible opponent in Shelton Benjamin. Kid Kash made a very bright start to the match which looked like it took Shelton off guard as he had no response to Kash’s offence. This all changed however when Shelton connected with a Cobra Clutch Backbreaker from out of nowhere changing the momentum of the match. Shelton came close to victory after a springboard bulldog and then later on a belly to belly overhead suplex but Kid Kash showed his resiliency kicking out at all attempts. Kid Kash got back into the match and after some back and forth action Kid Kash hit the Money Maker only for Benjamin to get his foot on the ropes at two. A few moments later Shelton Benjamin finished off Kash with the T-Bone Suplex to get the victory and qualify to the King of the Ring Quarter Finals after a hard fought victory.

After a commercial we go backstage to see Chavo Guerrero in the parking lot with the World Heavyweight Title on his shoulder which he stole from Mick Foley’s office earlier on in the show! Chavo Guerrero says that he is the World Heavyweight Champion before saying that he is going to sell the title on Ebay. Chavo Guerrero is about to get in his car which is parked just outside the building when Edge steps into the scene. Edge asks Chavo what the hell he is doing with the belt and they begin to argue when Mick Foley steps into the scene and Chavo quickly tosses the title into the hands of Edge. Foley asks Edge what the hell he is doing with the World Title and Edge is about to blame Chavo when Chavo Guerrero puts the blame on Edge saying he had to chase him all the way back here to get the title off him before he could steal it. Foley tells Edge that this his punishment should be on the lines of kicking him out of the 5 man World Heavyweight Title match this Sunday but he is going to let him off. Foley then puts Edge in a match with Chavo Guerrero for later tonight and tells them to have a nice day before walking off. Edge tells Chavo how dare he blame him and nearly get him kicked out of the World Title match. Edge tells Chavo he is going to kick his ass. Chavo tells Edge to not worry about him and that he better turn around. Edge turns around to see Kane right behind him, and the chase continues as Edge sprints for his life from Kane.

We then go to another area backstage where Kristal Marshall is standing with Ken Kennedy. Kristal interviews Ken Kennedy about the King of the Ring Tournament and mentions that Ken Kennedy must have an advantage because he drew a bye to advance straight to the King of the Ring Quarter Finals, meaning he has one less match to wrestle. Kristal asks Kennedy if this is an advantage for him. Kennedy’s insults Kristal’s intelligence before saying that he is the favourite to win the King of the Ring and there is a reason why. He lists some of the people he has defeated like The Rock, Batista, Carlito and more and says he then lists some of the people who are in the King of the Ring Quarter Finals and might have to face and says that this years King of the Ring is a joke. He says that they are all talented wrestlers, but they are no Ken Kennedy. He says that he has an extra week to prepare for this Sunday’s King of the Ring and he is going to use that time wisely by travelling to the United Kingdom and kick that old slag the Queen out of her palace, as after this Sunday there will be a new owner of that palace and his name will be KING KENNNEDDDY…..KENNNEDDDY!

Next up we have the final match from this stage of the King of the Ring as United States Champion Carlito takes on Chris Masters. Carlito used his quickness at the start of the match to get the better of the more slower sluggish Chris Masters, who seemed that as though he couldn’t cope with his speed at all. The momentum switches however as Masters moves out of the way when Carlito went for a springboard somersault plancha onto Masters on the outside, and then Masters picked Carlito up and drove him spine first into the steel turnbuckle. Masters then started to work over the back and neck area of Carlito obviously trying to get him in perfect condition to lock on the Masterlock. When Masters thought he had done enough damage to lock on the Masterlock, he went to lock it on but Carlito somehow countered it into a bodyscissors roll up with Masters kicking out just as the referee was going to say three, then both men got to their feet and Masters took down Carlito with a vicious clothesline. Carlito got back into the match and came close after a double springboard moonsault but Masters kicked out at 2. Carlito went for the back cracker but failed to connect with the move and eventually Chris Masters locked the Masterlock onto Carlito. Carlito used his brains by using his legs to “accidentally” kick the referee away before low blowing Masters and rolling him up grabbing a whole handful of tights to steal the victory and advance to the King of the Ring Quarter Finals along with Ken Kennedy, Shelton Benjamin and Rob Van Dam from Smackdown and Gregory Helms, Matt Hardy, Rey Mysterio and JBL from Raw.

After a commercial we go backstage to see Josh Matthews standing by the Rock. Josh asks Rock about his upcoming match with Batista. After doing his traditional Rock hypes the match up as the biggest main event in the history of Smackdown. And this main event will be known as the match where Batista got his ass kicked all over Dayton Ohio. He says that when people see Batista they see one tough cat, one big huge badass wrestler. But when he looks at Batista all he sees is a giant shriveled up piece of monkey crap. Rock says that tonight he and Batista are going take each other to hell, but it will be the Rock who walks out of Dayton Ohio and into King of The Ring the man who defeated Batista, the man who is the most electrifying man in all sports entertaiment, the man who is the People's Champion and the man who will be the next World Heavyweight Champion. If ya smelllll what the Rock is cooking.

Up next we have a match which brewed from a promo earlier on as a man who could possibly become World Heavyweight Champion this Sunday Edge took on a man that nearly successfully stole the World Heavyweight Championship Chavo Guerrero. This was mainly to give Edge a match ahead of King of the Ring, and was a match that he mostly had full control of. But however Chavo Guerrero used his famous lie cheat and steal tactics as when the referee was down, Chavo Guerrero brought a steel chair into the ring but noticed the referee was getting back to his feet so he smashed the chair off the mat and tossed it to Edge and fell onto the ground like he got shot. The referee argued with Edge on if he used the chair, and as the referee went to take the chair to the outside Chavo low blowed Edge. The ending of the match saw Edge back body drop Chavo when Chavo set him up for the Gory Special, and then bounced off the ropes and hit Chavo with a devastating Spear to pick up the victory.

A video is played hyping the debut of the man formerly known as Monty Brown who revealed himself as the Alpha Male Marcus Cor Von

We then go over to Michael Cole and Tazz who run down the King of the Ring card and they reveal the King of the Ring Quarter Final brackets, which looks like this

Matt Hardy
Shelton Benjamin

JBL
RVD

Gregory Helms
Ken Kennedy

Carlito
Rey Mysterio

The main event saw quite possibly one of the biggest main events in Smackdown history as the two most over faces The Rock and Batista went one on one just days away before they compete in a fatal 5 way match also involving Edge, Brock Lesnar and Kane for the vacant World Heavyweight Championship. Even though this match didn’t show a great quality match, it proved to be an entertaining match which the crowd got very into. This match was an all out brawl with both men wanting to finish each other off early on in the match, with both men trading pin attempts. During the match The Rock locked Batista in the Sharpshooter, when Lita suddenly distracted the referee and Edge came into the ring and speared the Rock, possibly wanting both men to tear each other apart ahead of their match at King of the Ring. Edge got what he wanted as Batista Powerbombed Rock through the Smackdown announce table and then Brock Lesnar came out of nowhere and hit Batista with a steel chair when the ref was once again distracted by Lita. Both men fought through all the interference and the ending saw Batista hit a second Batista Bomb onto the Rock who had been struggling after that first Batista Bomb through the table and he made the cover only for Edge and Brock Lesnar to get in the ring and attack both men with steel chairs causing the referee to end the match in a no contest. Lesnar repeatedly hit Rock with multiple chair shots to the back of the Rock as Edge busted Batista open with a big chair shot to the skull. Edge and Lesnar were about to hit the conchairco when strangely enough Kane sprinted down to the ring to make the save chokeslamming both Lesnar and Edge. But the confusion ended when Kane chokeslammed The Rock and then tombstoned a bloody Batista. Kane then did his taunt where he sets off the fire from the corners and he stares down at all of his victims as Smackdown comes to a close.

Skimmed the SD recap Kane01, and it was fine. I'm pressed for time ATM, so I am gonna hold off on a review until KOR, and that way I'll be returning you all an actual PPV review for the Mania review you'll be giving me. Looks like a promising show, and it will be nice to finally review one of you guys PPV's again. Currently I believe this to be the only thread from 2005 when I started that is still going. Kudos.

WWE Title – 3 stages of hell match
1st fall – 1 on 1 match
2nd fall – street fight
3rd fall – ladder match
Christian © w/Tyson Tomko and Maria vs. Chris Jericho

Mania winner just can't lose yet. Be different if it weren't someone like Christian who just rose to the top. Like if it were HHH, HBK or someone else. Christian needs the win to establish himself. Only way he loses is by screwjob.

World Heavyweight Title
Edge w/Lita vs. The Rock vs. Kane vs. Brock Lesnar vs. Batista
Assuming this is crowning a new champion in Benoit's wake. I'll go Rated R.

D-Generation X vs. John Cena and the Undertaker
Great Duo to come up against DX, but with their reformation having just really started they need this one.

2006 King of the Ring Tournament
King of the Ring Quarter Finals
Matt Hardy v Shelton Benjamin
JBL v RVD
Gregory Helms v Ken Kennedy
Carlito v Rey Mysterio

Semi Finals
Matt Hardy or Shelton Benjamin v JBL or RVD
Gregory Helms or Ken Kennedy v Carlito or Rey Mysterio

Final
Matt Hardy or Shelton Benjamin or JBL or RVD v Gregory Helms or Ken Kennedy or Carlito or Rey Mysterio

Seems logical, and a good step for JBL to take as a heel main eventer, without gold.

Looking forward to it guys.
