Re: Lets talk obesity

They get no love from me, but no matter what I say or what anyone else says, people are going to do whatever they want. Losing weight, or doing anything that requires more than minimal effort, is too hard for many people nowadays. Why work hard to lose weight and be healthy when you can please your ego by getting supportive comments from pathetic white knights on Facebook?

I've also become somewhat skeptical about the medical condition story. I know it's true, but so many lard-asses use that excuse that it's kind of hard to believe someone if they're telling the truth.

I'm so glad I don't have a facebook anymore. I long for the days when shit is private and you can pick and choose who you let into your world. People who live vicariously through others should be clubbed in the knee cap.

Re: Lets talk obesity

Outside of a legitimate medical condition (like thyroid issues or chronic debilitating injuries) I really believe there is absolutely no reason for people in this day and age to be fat. It is harder if your entire family has eating issues that they've passed onto you however, but even then you can overcome all that if you are motivated and educated enough. Depression is also a big one. The very act of exercise combats it though!

Environment is a factor. You are around an office or household that eats junk all day, it'll be much more difficult to say no due to peer pressure. Let's face it, eating junk food makes people feel good (temporarily) just like any other drug. Certain foods are designed to be more addictive.

Education is the best way to fight obesity. However, if said obese person is also stupid, well then their chances of ever improving go way down because they won't be able to figure it out even if you put it all in front of their face.

We've known how to eat healthy forever. The problem is that few want to actually do it. The food pyramid for all of it's critics is IMO a very accurate guide (if you are smart about it). There's optimizations past it sure, but it's all right there!

...so is McDonalds on the corner.

Re: Lets talk obesity

I've really got no problem with over weight people. I for one was over weight most of my life untill I decided that enough was enough, drop all of it and gained a lot of muscle which I'm very proud of myself about. But that's only because I wanted to, not because someone told me to. I don't have a problem with them, the only thing I have is how much they cost the health care in tax. Especially over here in England, knowing my tax is going in to making double sized chairs, beds and doors so the obese can get through them annoys the hell out of me. Being a bit chubby isn't anything, but when you're so obese you can't walk and need special treatment from doctors, that's when it gets annoying.

Simple: They cannibalize other homeless. You can only eat soup for so long before that shit gets tiresome.

Re: Lets talk obesity

I feel sorry for the ones that try and can't make change.

I don't feel sorry for the ones on electric shopping carts in the store.

Obesity is almost like a disease.

Whose to say it's any different than being a drug addict?

I also think that anyone can change it.

I've made big changes in my life and it's only getting better.

What I do hate though...

Is people that have always been small who tell "big" people how to lose weight.

Or how easy it is.

Re: Lets talk obesity

The thing I love most about fat people, is Al Bundy's 'a fat woman came into shoe store today' jokes.

I accept Hayley Williams rep.

I'm slight myself, but I have a real taste for Thunder Monkeys.

However, morbidly obese is pretty hard on the eyes.
