The Chris Gethard Show has been referred to as “an often riveting experiment in seat-of-your-pants broadcasting” by The New York Times, “a party on the public access airwaves” by New York Magazine, and once caused Conan O’Brien to say “we’re going to rip that off.”
Broadcast every Wednesday night at 11pm eastern from the Manhattan Neighborhood Network studios on the far west side of Manhattan and available both live and archived on the internet, TCGS is different each week – sometimes insane, sometimes heartfelt, sometimes sad, and hopefully always in some way funny. With no formula, no budget, and no mainstream attention, the show survives on the heart, inventiveness, and stubborn dedication of the thirty or so people that comprise the cast, crew, and support team of the show on any given week.
Every week there is a different theme for the show. This past week's theme was Crowd Sourced Characters (this being the second time they've done this). Viewers of the show were told to think of three different character names (with no details aside from their names) and email them to Chris. Nearly 700 names were emailed in. The cast/crew pick 10 of those characters and then asign them to different New York City Comedians / Stand Up Comedians / Podcasters, etc.. I watch the show pretty often so I sent in three characters. One of my characters The Ghost of Macho Man Randy Savage made it to air! Now, the fans vote on who their favorite new characters are and the winner chosen will be a permanent cast member of the show. So The Ghost of Macho Man Randy Savage has a chance to be a permanent fixture.
I need your help, Wrestling Forum. Vote for The Ghost of Man Randy Savage.
