Right so it's just a coincidence that all three ads have a white kid and a minority kid and the white kid is holding the gun in every one? Call me paranoid all you want but no way I believe that was an accident. The message to me is pretty clear, they wanna pin gun violence on white people because of shit like Newtown and Columbine.

I don't think this is a problem exclusive to white people. The expectations are down across the board. Maybe it was just because I was a naive kid but I remember people people much nicer 15 years ago across all races. It's like everyone has a chip on their shoulder these days.

Is it bright where you are? Have the people changed?

Re: Just Another Night In America...

Rather than trying to overanalyse the ad and assume that blame is being placed on a particular race why don't you look at the message that it is trying to send?

Like the fact that in the six month period after the 26 people were killed at Sandy Hook Elementary; 5048 people were killed by gun violence in America. That doesn't even include the 7 dead (of the 46 shot) in Chicago over the weekend.

So maybe take a second to think about what the message is rather than how it's being said.

Aren't most guns used in crimes like this actually obtained illegally?

Yes, but you can't get rid of or restrict guns, like cars they have so many other uses, threatening someone with death, props in lectures about causing death, peace of mind in case you ever want to cause someone death, with cars you can only get from A to B faster, it's like there not even meant to cause death! If people want to infringe on the rights of others, surely that's their right, right?

It's Chicago aka where Chief Keef resides. I'm not surprised in the slightest.

Re: Just Another Night In America...

Shame there can never be a rational debate on gun control, there is way too much grandstanding on both sides to really address the issue in a mature fashion.
I find it telling when a point is raised, people will dismiss it with some joke, trying to laugh certain things off.

I'm not even going to deny, I'm from a place where it is so alien for me, to see the need for guns, but I try my hardest, despite my lack of intelligence, to try and see both sides of the argument.

I fear there is too much hysteria on BOTH sides, it is such a contentious issue, I just hope people remain calm and try to engage in sensible dialogue on both sides of the spectrum.

This isn't a slight on the posters here, just look at the whole Piers Morgan and Jones debate, despite good valid points being made, both their styles were a turn off and it is a shame, because trying to profit personally career wise and for buzz on a serious issues is low.

on that note, i'll bow out

Let's start at the 7-Eleven, where that child had every right to be where he was. That child had every right to do what he was doing, walking home.

That child had every right to be afraid of a strange man following him, first in his car and then on foot. And did that child not have the right to defend himself from that strange man? Did Trayvon Martin not also have that right?
