North Korea dramatically escalated tensions with America tonight by warning it had approved nuclear strike plans.

"The moment of explosion is approaching fast," the North Korean military said, warning that war could break out "today or tomorrow".

In response, President Obama ordered a ballistic missile defence system be moved to the nearest U.S. military base to the rogue state.

The U.S. defence system will move to Guam, the nearest American military base to North Korea, 2,000 miles south east of Pyongyang in the Pacific Ocean.

U.S. defence secretary, Chuck Hagel, said: “Some of the actions they have taken the last few weeks present a real and clear danger and threat to the interests of our allies starting with South Korea and Japan.

“Also there have been threats the North Koreans have leveled at our base in Guam and Hawaii.”

He added: "We are doing everything we can to defuse that situation on the peninsula.

"I hope the North will ratchet this very dangerous rhetoric down," he said, adding that there is a way to peace but only if Kim Jong Un decides to be "a responsible member of the world community."

The U.S. had earlier moved two warships to the western Pacific to be on alert for missiles and conducting bomber and fighter flyovers

The latest ploy by rogue nuclear state was banning South Korean workers from the jointly run Kaesong industrial zone.

More than 800 South Koreans who had stayed overnight at the complex were being allowed to return home, but that new workers were not being allowed across the border.

Kaesong, a major source of income for the impoverished, communist North, is home to 124 South Korean companies that employ 53,000 North Korean workers in a cross-border, heavily fortified joint enterprise.

Permission is granted on a daily basis for South Korean workers to cross into the complex, situated in the North.
FUCK! should we be worried?!

War has changed. It's no longer about nations, ideologies, or ethnicity. It's an endless series of proxy battles fought by mercenaries and machines. War - and its consumption of life - has become a well-oiled machine. War has changed. ID-tagged soldiers carry ID-tagged weapons, use ID-tagged gear. Nanomachines inside their bodies enhance and regulate their abilities. Genetic control. Information control. Emotion control. Battlefield control. Everything is monitored and kept under control. War has changed. The age of deterrence has become the age of control... All in the name of averting catastrophe from weapons of mass destruction. And he who controls the battlefield... controls history. War has changed. When the battlefield is under total control... War becomes routine.

We could end all this dick-measuring in one fell swoop.

ONCE IN A LIFETIME. REDEMPTION VS LEGACY. OBAMA VS JONG-UN

THISSSSSS SUUUUUUUNNNNNNDAY....!

No-holds barred, one-fall match, win by pinfall or submission. Loser disarms all nuclear capability. (or "nuclear capability", however the case may be.)

OR, if that's not enough of a draw: Nuke on a Pole match :russo

War is the most profitable "business" that there is on this planet. The Governments fund both sides of the wars and then the same organisations are used to help SOLVE THE PROBLEM created by said organisiations and gain more and more trust by the citizens of the countries involved as they now "need their help".

Problem. Cause. Action

as a guy that was lucky to survive 3 tours of duty, i can say that im glad i retired when i did...lol, even though N. Korea at this point is all talk, i honestly dont want to do a fourth tour. might not be so lucky this time...N. Korea like cuba is about 30 years behind technology wise, if they did try it, we would see it coming and only S. Korea would remain....

not sure why people are saying they want NK to attack already. yes their nuclear capabilities are non-existent and their long-range missile capability isn't anything for the US to worry about, but their primary target (South Korea) is RIGHT THERE. They can hit them pretty hard. Thousands of lives would be lost. I know people are conditioned not to care about the lives of people from other countries, but it's still unsettling to read comments like that. surely not having to endure repetitive headlines isn't worth human lives.

They're nuclear capabilities are more advanced than most people think. North Korea is de-facto a proxy weapon of the Chinese. North Korea boasts of having advanced EMP and miniature nuclear weapons in 2013. I find that claim somewhat credible - if the weapons are Chinese and trucked across the border. The Chinese detonated their first neutron bomb in the 90's.

and their long-range missile capability isn't anything for the US to worry about.
Their ICBM's are within range of Alaska. Assuming the ICBM's didn't fall within range they could launch from an anonymous merchant ship.

No great science to this. Strip the system of its drivetrain and cab, lower it into a commercial freighter. Put up a foreign flag and put the ship to sea for weeks or even months on end. Give the order to launch from international waters as and when required. 75% of the population of the USA lives within 200 miles of the coastline, so assuming their ICBM's are not effective (They probably are) then this is an additional consideration for 'rogue states' and a threat to the USA. This is a consideration for Iran as well.

In the 40's, the Germans had a plan to tow a barge via submarine to within range of the USA and launching V2 rockets from it.

England better stay the hell away from this shit. The last thing our already massively-flawed country needs is for everybody to escalate this on our behalf. Nobody over here is worried or even pretty bothered about everything going on, it seems, but the second our idiotic media start writing about this we'll have people burying themselves 50ft below the ground to stay out of the way. Heck, the scumbags in this country will probably use it as an excuse for more riots...

We've stuck our noses in where it doesn't belong before and the last thing we need right now is to do it again, especially with all the cuts going on with our military and police forces anyways.

Kaesong closure can be explained by the creation of one native industrial complex in Raedong and by the wish to diminish the importance of South in the multilateral negociation (Park's party is violently against North Korea). North Korea would thus prefer direct bilateral discussions with USA.

The SPA (last standing meeting in North Korea) declared that nuclear weapons were purely defensive reaffirmed the leadership role of Kim Jung Un. Some military officials appointed after the death of his father were fired and civilians took their positions. It shows that Kim Jung Un gained decision power and that hawks lost feathers.

One mid-range range missile test is scheduled between the 10th and 17th of April to commemorate the birth of Kim Jung Un (17th of April), which explains why North Korean governement advised embassies to evacuate their diplomatic staffs.

Why ?

Last year a North Korean rocket launched days before Kim Il Sung’s birthday crash landed into the sea shortly after takeoff, but a rocket launch days before the first anniversary of Kim Jong Il’s death in December of the same year was successful.

North Koreans are currently moving two defensive missile batteries (SAMs and AShM) only due to the increasing US build up and deployment of numerous nuclear-capable bombers (B-52, B-1, B-2), command planes (E-6 Mercury) and fighters (F-22) in Guam, in Japan and in South Korea.

- One stupid question is why to deploy THAAD batteries there as Guam is theorically outside the North Korean target range ?
- Has the Pentagon deliberately underrated North Korea until now ?
- If yes, could North Korean missiles reach USA ?

Nuclear war ahead ?

North Koreans stated that they won't use nuclear weapons, if they aren't attacked by South Korea or USA. It means that no nuclear missiles are ready to be launched. Their country being heavily monitored by satellites, it's impossible for them to launch any missiles or to move any troops unnoticeably. Draw your own conclusions.

...

Will there be a conventional war ?

I don't know. When you push anybody to the limits, everything can happen.

It seems that USA and South Korea try to push North Koreans to commit errors and are ready to launch preemptive strike to neutralize any DPRK assets before they can be used. USA is the bellicous side.

And China ?

It's good to know that Joint Chiefs Chairman Gen. Martin Dempsey will visit China in a few days. Is USA checking chinese reactions and provoking a geopolitical mess just to test them ?

I hate the Asian pivot doctrine :(

First, Korea doesn't have the guts to do it. Second, their delivery system probably isn't advanced enough to get over to America without us detecting it and intercepting it. Third, China wouldn't take a country shooting nukes and risking Korea getting hit in response, so they would likely threaten action if Korea tried.
