I wouldn't really consider someone you haven't met in person a friend. You can talk to people on the internet, but it is different meeting them in person. Just because you know things about them (likes, dislikes, etc.) from what they have said online, doesn't mean you know them. People can have the same traits.

I certainly think you can be friends over the internet. I had a little group of friends online not too long ago. We all met through a new wrestling discussion show this guy was doing and we were the only ones to turn up when it first started.

It did break down a bit eventually but I'm still friends with two of the people I met there.

I have no friends online, have a few real proper friends offline, I love my own company, even my bf thinks I'm a kooky oddball

Tbh I'm probably socially awkward but people don't assume that when they look at me.

Honestly though I think sports has been a life saver for me though, without it, doubt I would have left my house lol

I have some internet friends, yes. & It is possible.

Not on here, though. No one ever PMs me so I just don't bother wanting friends here, although alot of you are cool.

I've been close friends with a group of guys over Xbox Live for 6 years now. Probably the only guys I'd even call 'friends' in my life.

If not for the internet and forums, I would have no friends at all.
Then again, I might have had to go out and find some real people.
Nah, I'm all about pretending to have imaginary friends. I'm good.

You can make friends anywhere you want, for people taht may be socially awkward the internet is a great place to do so, it is a different age we live in now and definitions of things frmo 20 years ago are not the same now
