Re: How many of you watched Wrestling prior to the WWE era?
Haha, I don't think I've ever heard anyone say Cena is the Greatest of All Time. Perhaps, rightfully, most popular at certain times than anyone but the big 4, but never anybody seriously saying the GOAT. Also, if they did and weren't trolls, I would accept it. Nothing wrong with liking John Cena if you're a wrestling fan. He's a wrestler. Just because the consensus is that he's stale doesn't mean it should define opinion.
Me personally, as I'm only 25 I can't say I watched in the 80s but I have older brothers who used to watch video tapes from then, such as early Wrestlemanias. We're English so perhaps in that time the WWF wasn't as easily accessible for kids, but my earliest memories are sitting watching those tapes probably the early 90s. I'd say by the time I was 5 I had seen at least a few PPVs, then by the time I was 10 I had seen the first 9 WM and most of the other big 4 shows that had been upto that point.
By the time I was 15 though, in 2002, I had watched every WWF PPV. Even now, I can't say I've watched anything earlier than perhaps the first Starrcade and matches on Youtube/in sets etc.
I don't think age really matters with what we have now, everything is at their fingertips and just because they didn't live through it, doesn't mean a 15 year old is lying when they say they've seen it. It's impossible to have been watching something that occurred at least 10 years or so before you were born, but wrestling is different; I would say the majority of wrestling fans have seen at least every WM. Don't really get that anywhere else.
I can't click on one of your options as I began watching in the early 90s, watching the older stuff as well as the current article.
