I don't see why gender segregated toilets are even a big deal at the elementary level. Everyone should go into a cubicle, shut the door behind him or herself, do his or her business, and wash hands at the end.

That kid can think he's a girl all he wants. The fact is that genetically, he's a boy. Because of this, he has to use the boys bathroom.

And some crazy people think they are Jesus Christ reincarnated. Does this make it so? Religious people are raised believing in an all-seeing all-knowing creator and an eternal paradise and this shapes their entire worldview. Is their perception as a result of circumstance and possible indoctrination the only thing that matters, reason and truth be damned? Absolutely not.

Not really. When we were young we thought all sorts of things. When I was young I wanted to be a Power Ranger. After a little while, I changed. Something like gender identity shouldn't even be addressed until the kid reaches puberty.

Absolutely ridiculous argument. If a kid can sly his way into the girls changing room by identifying himself as a transgender, I guess there's going to be a big spike in kids who identify themselves as transgenders no? Hell I would have done it as a kid if it meant I had a 50/50 chance of seeing boobs.

There is a difference between transgender and transsexual... I'm not taking a position on this, but the two aren't interchangeable terms. Same goes for sex and gender... that and there only exists shades of difference, even at a biological level.

If I have kids, what I'll do is take them out to a forest and together we will build a teepee, then I will give them 3 days of supplies and they will live in the teepee until their personal spirit guide will help them decide on their own gender. Then I'll watch Gamegrumps with him/her

I like to think of myself as a fairly open minded person, but I don't know how to feel about this. One the one hand, life has to hard enough for this kid without the added pressure of discrimination. On the other hand, no of amount guilting by pro whatever groups is going to make people who are uncomfortable with the transsexual/transgendered feel better about it or understand it any better. I have trouble wrapping my own head around the concept, I can't understand it at all.
As far as this particular situation goes I think they made the right decision. You can't ask kids to have the same level of understanding as adults, and with an issue this confusing (no pun intended) its best to just stick with the bottom line.

I honestly can't comprehend parents identifying a 5 year old child as transgender.. How can anyone defend that?
