A lot of poor people in this thread; must suck.
To be fair, everyone feels they should make more than they really do. So, if they hear a forced raise, they see it as a good thing.
I remember when it went to $7.25, being in college, and thinking this is great. Then I saw prices go up, and any extra money I thought I would have was not there.
why stop at 9? why not 20? why not 50? shit, I'm sure everyone here could use 100 bucks an hour for whatever they do right? Get er dun!
To many people this would be a great thing to keep raising it higher and higher.
MINIMUM WAGE IS NOT MEANT TO BE A LIFE SUSTAINING JOB. If you cannot make it off of one job, you get a second, then a third. If you cannot make it off of two jobs, you are trying to live way beyond your means, unless you have a family. Which then you should get help in the form of food stamps, but even then, you should be doing what you can to improve your life.
Too many people expect the government to take care of them, and blame the rich for everything. Anybody with a finance, business, or economic background can easily point to where government creates more problems than helps. Let the market fix itself, and stop bailing out people and businesses. Failure is not a bad thing, it teaches you.
