Because of this, a lot of people are going to be left unprepared when it explodes.

If all else at least, a hypothetical President Paul would have been able to end (at least for the time being) America's terrible foreign policy and vetoed any bad spending bills, while trying to work with Congress (seeing as he doesn't believe in Executive Orders, unlike Barry) to cut spending. Would it work? I don't know, but at least we would have had someone in office who at least is trying to bring America back from the ledge; not someone who keeps shoving America FORWARD towards that ledge.
You may or may not be doing a bit, but the main problem with the US guv'ment is CONGRESS. It's been CONGRESS for the better part of half a century. In the recent past decade or so you have Republicans who are supposed to be fiscally conservative, yet they spent as if they were bleeding heart liberals trying to save every poor unfortunate bastard on this planet...except they weren't helping anyone but their corporate overlords. What sucks is even Democrats are just as bad. It's pretty much game over at this point. The US is too caught up in a short term mindset. This is what happens when profit is all that matters.

Yeah, the overwhelming majority of members in Congress, both past and present, were and are still awful to this very day, especially when it comes to fiscal issues (not even getting into civil liberties and war). The "fiscally conservative" rhetoric you hear from the Republicans is just that. Granted you have some legitimate fiscal conservatives that are in the Republican party like Rand Paul in the senate but outsider of that, they're just as bad as Democrats when it comes to fiscal issues. There is no real difference between Republicans and Democrats anymore. Both like to spend money the government doesn't have, take away civil liberties, and (even though the President doesn't consult them anymore on this like he's supposed to) are for continuing our endless wars overseas.

I'm not a huge fan of the Executive Branch, don't get me wrong, but it's the Legislative Branch that has failed the hardest.

Yeah, they have it so hard.
You do realize there's 50 million poor people in USA, right? At least. That's 16,5%.

What constitutes poor? Sure, there are homeless people sleeping on the streets and all that, but there's no fucking way they make up almost a fifth of the population. That 16.5% may well include really destitute people, but I guarantee you the majority of that figure is precisely the people I mentioned - those who still have creature comforts like HD TVs, game consoles and other unnecessary crap who seem to have an awful victim complex and don't seem to realise they have it fucking made compared to a lot of people.

As far as I'm concerned, if you have a shirt on your back, a roof over your head and food in your stomach, you really have no room to complain.

Well, there's one this the US will always rule over: the Internet.

I really think the US will still remain #1 for being the most influential nation for the entire 21st century, but anything can happen.

China may outsource any other country out there in the production line, but they can't influence shit. In fact, judging by their media presence, they're starting to become more and more arrogant towards international relations.

Wrestlemania 29:

US (face) vs China (heel) (c) for the World Championship w/ special guest referee India (face)

Book it!
