There's too much bullshit to get through to fix problems. Even if a really good idea comes through, if the president and congress don't match, it'll get squashed just as a "Fuck you, you aren't my party". And first term presidents tend to not do anything too crazy, so they can get re-elected.

We should be worried more about excessive government spending and salaries than if 1 guy in a year can get a gun that fires bullets too fast.
