In U.S., 46% Hold Creationist View of Human Origins

Forty-six percent of Americans believe in the creationist view that God created humans in their present form at one time within the last 10,000 years. About a third of Americans believe that humans evolved, but with God's guidance; 15% say humans evolved, but that God had no part in the process.

Re: In U.S., 46% Hold Creationist View of Human Origins

Someone's going to come in here and give the "Well, Evolution's just a theory" thing. So, in advance:

It isn't. It's observable, testable, verifiable, falsifiable fact.

Once you have the mechanism to explain the great variety of life on earth, you just need to explain those building blocks. That's where our work needs to be done. Abiogenesis and the like are the fields we really need to hit hard.

Creationism is not having all the answers, so you make up an answer that fits all those gaps. It's absurd.

Good for America.

Ulfric Stormcloak; not a racist, not a megalomaniac, not a savage, but a hero with heart & ambition.

All hail to Ulfric you are the High King
In your great honor we drink and we sing
We're the children of Skyrim and we fight all our lives
And when Sovngarde beckons everyone of us dies

We drink to our youth to the days come and gone
For the age of oppression is now nearly done

It was mainly invented as a way to stop people from freaking out about stuff they didn't understand.

"Why does the sun come up in the morning?" A god did it.
"How come our crops are bad this year?" A god did it to punish you.
"What happens when you die?" You go to a lovely place in the sky if god likes you, if he doesn't you go to a bad place and get tortured forever.

Sometimes I do wish I was a bit religious rather than the cynic I am, it's kinda depressing.

And what year is it? 2013? Oh, okay. This is actually quite a terrifying statistic.

Relegions serve many purposes those that you say ,those that other people have said are true.Another plus point(for people in power ofcourse) of relegion is it promotes nationalism and nationalism is just another one of the tools used by the elite to control masses, and there are many.

People can believe whatever they want to believe. And that's the end of that.
