Of the people who shot someone today, how many gun owners were responsible with their weapons? A far, far greater number of people carry and use their guns in a responsible manner. That is why guns are not the issue and fucked up people are.
Irrelevant. You're comments in this thread are rather funny. A president and an every day "Joe" are completely different. How many more times must we hear about every day"Joe's" killing innocent people? The reason he has people carrying guns to protect him is against crazy people who do want to kill him with guns. Thats why body guards are there, to STOP someone from trying to kill him because they're butt hurt. Pro gun people make me laugh, I'm not for nor against it but it is a problem and in America its awful. But yah, it has nothing to do with the fact that its so easy to acquire guns but rather someone "snapping" at any given moment because the entire population is bipolar or something right?

Sure there are responsible people with guns, no ones denying that but its far to easy to get a gun. Hell, you can get a gun simply by opening a bank account in some areas. Sorry but guns do kill , its a weapon used for killing. What else are guns for? For show and tell? There needs to be harder to get a license, plenty of psych tests etc to be able to be reviewed to get one. And only then should you only be able to get a handgun, not assault rifles or snipers that can be acquired. Its ridiculous

You're right. Presidents kill far more innocent people than everyday "Joe's" do.

So you're saying that the President of the United States who works FOR THE PEOPLE needs armed security, but the people who he works for should be devoid of such protection? There are people that just want to kill people, you don't have to have a special title to be sought out for assassination. Random murders occur every single day.

An assassination is not the same as a random murder.

I support the 2nd amendment, but there is no reason for an everyday civilian to have a semi-auto, or any other type of military weapons. None.

I didn't intend to use them as though they are the same. Look at the context they were used in. Did I specifically identify an "assassination" as being something that one is "sought out for", and then follow that up with "random murders" after the previous sentence was complete? Thought so.

People die every single day against their own will. The end result is the same. Because someone doesn't agree with an elected politicians viewpoints does not make their death any less random or more important than that of the people who elected them. The guy who walks into an Arab convenience store and shoots the clerk because he doesn't like Muslims doesn't make that any less of a random killing than someone shooting a politician for a divide in beliefs.

Obama becomes first president in history to mention gay rights in inauguration speech.

Progress.

Obama can't let the LBGT community stray too far from the Democratic party. God forbid they realize that the Democrats talk a good game in regards to their "rights" yet don't do a damn thing for them.

Take it for what it is. Given a choice, most of the LGBT community will choose the liberal party(whoever that may be) because the conservatives of American politics have allied themselves with religious anti progressives whose mission is to make sure that non Christians, non whites, non males, non heterosexuals don't get far in life.
