right. but then again, there's alot of things that you can't prevent, simply because you can't predict them. It's not the tool you're using per se, it's how cunning you are at attaining your goal. Criminals will find ways to work around bans, it's the honest citizens that are vulnerable. Banning Assault rifles and large capacity clips is only putting a frail bandaid on the problem, and as it's been pointed out, can also lead to a problematic domino effect when these bills are used as stepping stones for the Gov't to exercise even more authority.

Of course they don't, but that doesn't mean there weren't any signs. Friends and relatives who might have some accountability saying there weren't signs doesn't mean there weren't signs.

I get bored one night, decide I want to go burn down someone's house. No one else around me would ever know about it because I wouldn't tell them and they wouldn't witness it. I act completely normal around them all the time, they would never suspect that I would do such a thing.
Would you do such a thing? If not then it's kind of a self-defeating hypothetical. You wouldn't exhibit signs of being capable of that behavior because you aren't. If are capable, then damn, you just told me about it. Guess I should report you.

Exactly. The gun manufacturers are simply going to find a loophole in the new "ban" in order to continue manufacturing what will turn out to be the same rifle with a few different parts. Banning them outright is going to do absolute dick to stop things from happening.

Thousands of times, until he's 17/18 years old. If he's not saying it he's still hearing it. He's still compelled to recite it and memorize it.

Then there's the revisionist US history books and the fact that kids spend all their time at school being instructed by people who are employed by the government. You're taught in school to unquestioningly obey authority figures. They aren't learning skills that prepare them for the workforce, that's for sure. It's all just government training for people before the government can get their hands in their pockets, so that they don't ask why.
No more Alex Jones for you (however your only valid point was the revisionist history books).

Oh okay. So having 4 year olds pledge allegiance to the flag every day is completely reasonable and there's no government agenda element at all.

And you think I'm crazy? I don't listen to Alex Jones btw, conspiracy theories don't do a lot for me.

Yeah, it's obvious propaganda. Most of the terrible shit the government does is obvious, which is why conspiracy theories are so "whatever". You don't need a conspiracy theory to make a tremendous case against government.

I saw a pic of a guy with an assault rifle at a store in the news the other day. This is the bullshit that happens when these things start. I remember them saying Gore wanted to take the guns not long before the 2000 election. Then rednecks started carrying guns in public just to prove a point (which they failed at), now they're doing it again. Pathetic.

<- Carries gun at all times, whether it be concealed carry or open carry. Did it before all of this nonsense kicked off, and the fact that I continue to do it does not make me a redneck, either. Deal with it. Not that you would see me, or anyone else actually carrying a gun in person with your own eyes, what with averaging 45 posts a day and all.
