Re: Why you can't compete with Chinese labor
Plenty of time to be miserable as an adult.
A good parent will know how to instil good morals, disciplines and the ilk into a young, developing child, without scaring the young tyke with the 'chinese labour' which could instead get them into a negative mindset about the whole working process, which could in turn, be detrimental to the growing up process.
'hey Billy you're 18 now you ready to go into the workforce?' 'nah, I had enough of that as a kid. I think I'm going to sit on my ass and jerk off and play video games.'

Re: Why you can't compete with Chinese labor
I'm not sure what having a gf or working out has to do with this conversation. Grow up.
I was able to get good work ethic from my parents and I looked up to my father as he was a hard worker.
Did my schooling did some part time jobs when I was in my mid teens. Was quite successful doing managerial work, I.T. support and the like, now I'm changing my path and am training to be a support worker and a councillor.
I never got driven into the ground as a kid otherwise I may have a more negative outlook on things.

Grow up. If you don't have anything worthwhile or intelligent to contribute, don't post.
You obviously know nothing about the subject.

on the topic tho

Child labor is no joke and of course he would be better off getting some schooling before entering the work force and having fun as a kid.
|
of course it's no joke, the kid should be having fun moments in hong kong disney land instead he's working, possibly making money for his family.
but this kid when he grows up he's going to be a tough SOB.
yes some or most parents are bringing up their kids soft, i've many many children using ipads and iphones in their free time instead of reading, learning or learning life skills. parents assume that they will learn the life tools in school.
but a kid under 12 or 13 should not work. 13+ is okay since you're getting matured and learning stuff. part-time jobs are everywhere. i in fact know a lot of people that don't work and show that they want to work but their excuse is "there's no jobs out there man", the fact is jobs are everywhere, supermarkets, malls the list goes on.

Umm I don't know what fantasy world you live where the majority of kids used to like to read, write, and learn in their free time.

Working is not a bad thing for kids, dont get me wrong, I'm aginst the 20 day thing, but helping in stores and what not as 8 or maybe 10 or so? I see nothing wrong with that provide its done right.
Done right being the key word

Re: Why you can't compete with Chinese labor
I live in a Chinese community and most kids here do some work already, but definitely not child labor!
It's mostly a cultural and preference thing, giving importance to the family as a working unit.
Again, I don't live in China but in a Chinese community in another Asian country so it's a different yet similar context.

aren't we missing the bigger issue here
"there's jobs everywhere" only if you come from china and are willing to do 4 times the work on a slaves wage as apposed to a local citizen who might possibly stop working ie go on strike
