I'd say "sex objects" because Saudi men always talk of women as if they are like jewellery or gold that must be "hidden" to people and that women are there to please men.I wouldn't say slaves because thats just saying too much,If you know what I mean.

Well that sucks for everyone involved, doesn't it?
The entire situation is pitiful, but it's the parents that are the saddest part of all. By willingly selling their child to a man they know is interested in her only so far as to what she can offer him in bed and, perhaps, as a house maid and baby producer (he's 70 and she's 15 – it's not like he's looking for a soul mate) they've proved she's no more of an individual to them than a puppy or a goldfish.
The whole religion and society bit has to play a role. Many people are so desperate to justify a literal belief in everything they read in 'holy books' that they adopt attitudes they otherwise wouldn't because it falls in line with more questionable aspects of historical religious characters.

I'm more surprised this article mentioned nothing about the police there finding the girl and allowing the guy to kill her because of it. I thought that was the norm, unless I'm thinking of another country.
