Re: What did your Grandfather do for a living?

Dad's side: Now deceased. I believe he was a factory worker a majority of his life. May or may not have served in the military. Not to sure, as I didn't talk to him often.

Mom's side: Now retired. He served one term in the United States Army. Other than that he worked in factories and was maintenance in a middle school.

Re: What did your Grandfather do for a living?

The one from my dad's side served in the US Army during WW2 in Italy. After the war, he was stationed in Yugoslavia until it came under the influence of the Soviet Union and kicked out the Western occupation force around the end of 1945. Then he worked 40 years in a paper mill. He was also one of the leaders of the mills union. He helped keep the workers their jobs and made sure they got a fair wage and benefits.

I don't know what either of them did. They both died before I was born. What I do know is that they were both a bunch of rich Nigerian SOBs, pretty sure the one on my dad's side was a soccer player.

Re: What did your Grandfather do for a living?

My dad's dad is an alcoholic, I'm pretty sure, estranged, the most I've ever done is smile at him, when passing him on the street, he wouldn't recognise me, he's separated from my gran, me and my gran are close, but none of my family are close with my dad's dad, I basically don't know him.

My mum's dad owned a partnership plumbing company, it was his birthday the other day and he's nearly 70, he still works, in a 'kind-of' partnership, but his company is defunct from when he retired, but he still works when he wants if he gets offered, and old clients sometimes still contact him and my nana for work, because they know of him from the years before.

Re: What did your Grandfather do for a living?

My dad's dad served in the Army during World War II, and right up until the day he died ran a diner in his hometown with my grandma. Summers that I would go visit I'd do a day or two a week of helping them out and paid with a big plate of chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes with gravy.

My mom's dad served in the Navy during the Second World War and eventually became a general manager of a grocery store.
