Default Serial Killers With Popular Names Overrated?

Why does America/Uk try to Overhype everything?

Jack the ripper killed 5 prostitutes and hes had more books written on him than american presidents combined.5 prostitutes really? An average Joe going across the street has killed 5 or more.

Same goes for other serial killers with popular names like ted Bundy,The Yorkshire Ripper, The Boston strangler etc etc.all of these have killed from 5-10 people and They are suddenly celebrities overnight.

There are serial killers In Ecuador,Pakistan,Peru,India who have killed 100 plus people but have no recognition because they have simple names.

Behram thug from India Has killed 947 people and anybody barely knows him.

Is this because of American/Uk media Overhyping them,Giving them attractive names or what?

What the hell? first off, many the pepole you lissted became famous before the ear of intertnet and mass newpapers.

So in sort, just like the boston mascare, it was litlaly like four guys being killed becuer they where dicks, now day thats consider nomr, but back then? enough to start a rebelion.

basscily its like how some say so much is happening now days with suicdes, its being reported so much that the effect is not as great as it used to

back in the old days with the ripper if you heard about two deaths then the guy was a **** grim ripper

of course many killed more, you just did not hear about them all.

The world wasn't as calloused and desensitized in those guys' days as it is now which is ironic because everyone has turned into giant, PC pussies.

They became huge as the whole nation wanted to catch them and stop them/ Like obviously they're going to be known when the country wants to make sure everyone is aware of them and to make sure that they are careful if they're in the same area as the killer.

Serial killers are different because they target people at random and seemingly without motive, putting the entire general public at risk. Most 'regular murders' have basic motives such as a drug buy gone wrong, gang warfare, robbery, revenge, or whatever...

So detectives try to piece together a profile and get the word out so if the killer is targeting say young college women then they can alert them specifically.

The nickname is just to help sell a newspaper and provide a convenient label (usually involving the M.O.) because they don't know the killers real name because they are still at large.

I don't see this as glorifying at all because the public needs to be alerted to be safe. Of course however a bold faced nicknamed serial killer on the front page helps sell papers, but so do other things such as wars and disastrous weather...that's just basic journalism, report the hot stories.

If there were no coverage then certain safety precautions, which could prevent someone from becoming a victim, might not be taken.

Ted Bundy has killed a lot more than 5-10 OP. It's not just about the number of kills, many serial killer enthusiasts find the likes of Ed Gein and Albert Fish fascinating, even though their numbers are quite low. Not by the volume of kills but the motive behind the killings, their childhood and various other factors.

I always wonder why Serial killers from the east are less popular.Lack of nicknames or maybe The country not being important at all on the World Map.

Higher volume of serial killers in America + more interesting cases.

Albert Fish, Ted Bundy Jeffrey Dahmer, Charles Manson (although technically not a sk) etc, are pretty ordinary sounding names.

Every now and again you'll hear of an interesting case from overseas like the german cannibal Armin Meiwes. Don't think names have much to do with it at all.

are we seriously complaining about serial killers' lack of pushes in the mainstream media?

has it really come to this?

do you really spend hours laying awake at night wondering why foreign serial killers are so underrated? does it make you sad?
