So I've been prescribed to wear eyes glasses for near-sightedness for the first time by my doctor. Any advice is appreciated.

I have three important questions to those who wear glasses,

1. Does using glasses worsen the near sightedness condition overtime?

2. Does using them make your eyes/brain dependent on them forever?

3. Contacts are a better option? any benefits other than obvious ones?

get contacts. glasses break easily, get dirty easily, and you can feel them sitting on your face. its annoying. contacts ftw.

There is nothing bad about glasses man.
1. No it doesn't worsen over time. Some people may believe it does but those people are gullible. They have just gotten accustomed to vision with glasses and cant recall too well to life with slightly worst vision.
2. No, that would defeat the purpose of having a specialist prescribe you something.
3. It always varies by person. I hated contacts the first month I got them, now I can't see myself going back to glasses.

Nope. Near sightedness is genetic. Nothing you do can make you see better or worse

Only if you like being able to see and drive properly. Your eyes are going to do what they want to do. Glasses are a tool to balance that out. Again - nothing you can do can make you more or less nearsighted.

I have never worn contacts. I have been wearing eyeglasses since I was 8 years old. If you have a pair of glasses that fit comfortably and fall on your face naturally, you forget you are wearing them.

Aw it's no problem. You're always gonna be nearsighted so I suppose you will be dependent on them... but that's not the glasses' fault. I try to keep it 50/50 between glasses and contacts.

Some people can look a lot better with glasses.

1. No, adjusting from having them on for a long time to taking them off can make it bad for a few hours, but it will adjust pretty easily.

2. You'll only be as dependant as you naturally would.

3. If you're ok with it then contacts are a good option. I like glasses and can't be doing with putting contacts in so they work for me.
