Needed them since I was about 6 I think. Was in infants and one day I had to constantly get up, walk to the board, read the text and return to my seat in order to finish my work, teacher promptly called my parents and I had glasses by the end of the week.

Get a new pair every 2 years. For the life of me I'm just never arsed to get contacts, apart of me just can't imagine having to actually stick it in my eye, but in general I've think I've just grown accustomed to wearing glasses that I'm not bothered about getting rid of them.

Had em since I was 8. Didn't know I needed them until we had an eye test at school (did other schools do this too? the whole concept sounds odd to me looking back on it lol) and I was told I couldn't see properly. I swear to god I had never been effected by poor vision until I got my first pair and realised how much clearer shit was. LOL. Bet those bastards did something to make me have poor vision. Probably got some money for every kid they sent for glasses. Cunts.

Anywho, my vision gets worse every time I go. Me without glasses = me not being able to see much. Giant blurry mess. Used to get new glasses every year, but then they changed it so I go for an eye test every 2 years so I get new glasses after my test. Supposed to have gone about 3 months back, but I can't afford new glasses so I'm holding off

. And my current glasses have been broke for about a year and a half. I got drunk and stood on them

. Now I have to tighten up the screws every few days or my lenses will fall out (woke up yesterday, put my glasses on and couldn't see out of one eye. Lens fell out at night).

Has anyone of you ever tried those laser surgeries? I know few people whose vision got like 70% better, or stuff like that. It's expensive though...

^ I wanted to when my optometrist said I needed to stop wearing contacts daily for medical reasons – glasses are a huge problem for me when it comes to swimming, winter outdoor sports and suchlike – but he advised surgery could cause more problems due to the sort of visual impairment I have. Like another poster above, I was flagged as a glasses candidate in kindergarten when I had to walk to the front of the room to view anything on the board. Not only can I barely see a few inches beyond my nose, I also have severe night blindness. My eyesight is appallingly bad and, apparently, not appropriate for laser surgery.

I suppose it's for the best. I'm not sure I could handle staying perfectly still for the procedure. I'm rather nervous when it comes to anything or anyone poking around my eyes. I'd squirm under the laser, I just know it. I can't even handle the glaucoma tests with the little poof of air.
