It's just more ammunition for the anti-bullying lobbyists to turn the next generation of kids into a bunch of pussys.

As I said earlier bullying is a part of growing up and a part of life. Eradicating that isn't going to do the kids of tomorrow any favours. It's like your immune system not getting any practise for years then you fall victim to a common cold. Got to get prepared for what life will throw at you in the future.
But it isn't very good for the actual bullies, bullying has to be reported and dealt with so that the people doing it can learn that it isn't the right thing to do and can grow up to be more mature and respectable human beings.

True, I have the feeling some people misunderstands the true meaning of the word "strenght".

These nazi and lung cancer analogys have no relevance to this discussion. Think of bullying as a tool to prepare kids for what lies ahead in the future, which is basically what school is. All the subjects you learn are (mostly) going to prepare you for your future.

I'm not suggesting anyone should "get away with it" there's obviously circumstances where kids need to be punished. But to eradicate it completely will be to the future child's detriment.

There's more important things going on in the world worth reporting than this. Like war, space travel and Kim Kardashians latest boyfriend.

Lol all very interesting things.....but they are reported as well. Plenty of room for all sorts of stories.

What a stupid thing to say. To just accept Bullying as a normal thing is absurd and quite frankly idiotic. Not doing kids of tomorrow any favors? That's the biggest loads of shite I ever heard. You're not doing kids of tomorrow any favors by turning a blind eye to it and accepting it either. In fact you're doing worse, because studies have shown that bullying has led psychological problems. I'm sure you've often heard about people killing themselves, or killing others from being bullied. Hell look at the fucking Coloumbine Massacre. It's a serious issue of today, and not something that should be brushed aside as growing up. There's no growing up involved i'm afraid.

Now I'm not saying bullying doesn't happen, it can happen anywhere. But that doesn't mean it should be ignored. Should cops stop enforcing the law because crime never ends? There's an old saying "Evil prevails when good fails to act" that saying could be used in context with bullying. It's an evil act and should not be ignored.

Are you suggesting that bullying can be eradicated in its entirety?

Bullying, that human condition that has existed since humans began, can be removed from our collective psyche completely?

Pray tell.

The analogies are pretty pertinent in my humble opinion, also you're suggesting to raise children in a way I dislike.

THen sorry to say this to one of my favorite posters but if there is something that have no relevance to THIS discussion is the part in bold.

I also said this later in the thread:

The kids in question were dealt with accordingly, what's the point in revisiting it? Bullying helps prepare boys for manhood, I know I don't want my little boy to grow up to be a pussy. I prefer to think of bullies more as "future mentors"

Again to reiterate I know there are extreme cases where people need to be punished but to eradicate it completely is a mistake. If I hadn't been bullied and toughened by high school, I wouldn't have lasted in the big old world where bullying occurs on a near daily basis (i.e. the workplace) and I probably would be hanging in someones garage by now.

Bullying is a part of life.

You speak as if we no choice in the matter. An individual chooses to be a bully or not. Just like a person chooses to be a criminal or not. Does it mean, we can remove it completely? Well it depends on the person doesn't it. But that doesn't mean it should be accepted and even justified. Just like crime should not be tolerated. I wouldn't go into a shop and rob it, but if someone else did and I had a chance to stop it I would try to stop it. Just like if I saw someone getting bullied, I would try to stop it. Again, it may not be eradicated but if it can be prevented then it should be. My point being, turning a blind eye or brush it off as a way of growing up is wrong and doesn't make things any better and frankly the people that do are no better then the bullies themselves.
