NYC passes ban on supersized sugary drinks

http://todayhealth.today.com/_news/2...ry-drinks?lite

The New York City Board of Health voted Thursday in support of the ban on large, sugary drinks on Thursday, in a controversial move to reduce obesity.

The ban is an unprecedented 16-ounce limit on sodas and other sugary drinks at restaurants, delis and movie theaters.

By a vote of eight members in favor, with one abstaining, the mayoral-appointed city health board outlawed sugary drinks larger than 16 ounces nearly everywhere they are sold, except groceries and convenience stores. Violators of the ban, which does not include diet sodas, face a $200 fine.

I am against this, mostly because it will lead to more crap like it. The more government makes laws like this, the less freedom we have.

Props to JamesCurtis24 for the awesome sig

20 ounces makes more sense to me. i guess it'll help though since not everyone will be able to afford to get another 1.

I'd be pretty much all for this if it wasnt for the fact that if people really wanted the same amount they can just buy two drinks and done. Short term solution at best

Still won't stop the "I'll have 2 number 4's, 3 number 7's, 4 orders of the 20-piece nuggets, 4 large chocolate shakes, and a diet fuckin' coke" people. Obesemania running wild

Re: NYC passes ban on supersized sugary drinks

All a ploy to get more money. People are just going to order more small/medium sodas.

BTW, don't most fast food places offer free refills? This sounds like the most useless legislation passed in recent memory.

Got to wear a seatbelt. Got to buy small or medium sized soft drinks. Can't enjoy marijuana that grows out of the soil. All of which hurts nobody but yourself.

This is too fucking funny. Really.
