Re: What were you doing Sep 11, 2001?

I was 14 years old and I had just got home from school and turned the TV on just as the second tower collapsed. At first I had no idea what this was, took me a minute or so to realise this was real life, that this was actually happening. The rest of the day I was in shock, couldn't believe it. The next day at school we had a special assembly paying tribute to the victims. A teacher at our school lost a brother, he was a policeman there. Very sad.

Re: What were you doing Sep 11, 2001?

I was at school as it was happening, I got home and noticed a friend of mine was locked out of his house with his family all out. So I rushed into the house to drop off my school bag and saw some building in a foreign country on fire. As a child I thought nothing of it because I was used to seeing tragedies on the news and rushed out to hang out with my friend.

It was only the net day in school that I began to understand the significance of what happened when everybody was talking about it. I found it strange that nobody in school would ever talk about stuff going on in the middle east or Africa but as soon as something happened to America it was at the fore of everyone's thoughts.

Such a tragic event and to this day, I have this morbid fascination with it. I especially enjoy the Channel 4 mode documentaries about 9/11 and find them fascinating.

7th grade art class. My teacher would usually either pop in a cassette tape or turn the radio to an 80's station. It wasn't until we heard her crying when we began to listen in when we hear what was going on. By the end of the day, there were fewer faces seen because of their parents taking them out early.

Being 6 at the time i was pissed off when i came home from school to find out CBBC was cancelled for some buildings being burnt down (or so i thought). Of course it wasn't until i aged a bit that i realised the enormity of the attacks.

Re: What were you doing Sep 11, 2001?

I was in Grade 9, second week of high school. Principal came on the PA during 2nd period towards the end of class just after 11 and informed us of what happened. Period 3 was my lunch period and I went home for lunch and turned on the TV and was like "holy shit". Came back for my 2 afternoon classes, one was math and we spent the first 1/2 hour talking about what happened and didn't really do much. And the final class was Science, where my teacher didn't even make any mention of it and started teaching like it was a normal day smh.

I was in 4rth grade at the time and the teacher immediately told us what happened, and we saw the news on TV for a good while.

Re: What were you doing Sep 11, 2001?

I was in school. I had no idea what happened until I got home and it was probably the first time in my life I was glued to the news channels.

That happened to me four years earlier when Diana died. I was too young to understand why it dominated the news, cancelling my early morning cartoons cartoons.
