Was in the 7th grade. Was at in the school caf during lunch when I heard rumblings about it. Math class was next snd my teacher told us. By then like every second there were announcements calling kids to the office cuz their parents have come to pick them up. Was a chaotic day for sure.
Never knew about it until I came home from school. Was expecting to turn on BBC1 to watch Arthur the cartoon but instead, it was BBC News with Breaking News about a building being on fire. I was pissed off, never knew what it meant at the time. Same when Queen Elizabeth I died, I came home and my cartoons weren't on, pissed off at that too.

Re: What were you doing Sep 11, 2001?
I slept through all of it. Woke-up at 7 P.M. on that "day." Got on-line & read some shit & thought "what the fuck are these people talking about?" Turned on the TV & it was on every station. Pretty surreal.
first day of college, right across the river from the WTC in Downtown Brooklyn. Heard a loud bang and thought it was construction outside. Then the teacher for orientation came in 5 minutes later and said "we arent doing anything today, i dont even know why theyre keeping classes open today" we all asked why, he said "a plane just hit the WTC".
I instantly assumed "oh it was an accident like the Empire State Building in the early 1940's or so." Then me and my friends made the necessary phone calls to make sure our loved ones in the city were ok, and we took a walk to the river promenade to see the disaster unfold for ourselves. We watched in absolute fucking disbelief as the towers collapsed.
