Re: Election Discussion Thread
New Rasmussen polls show Romney with a 48%-45% lead in the overral vote, and Obama in the lead in the electoral college. Key toss ups are Florida, Ohio, Wisconsin, Iowa and more. Looks like Obama's post convention bounce is done, and all signs point to a very, very close race. Of course, the only poll that matters is election day. I can't imagine many people waking up on that Tuesday saying "wow, Obama has done so great that I should vote for him", so I'm still going for a Romney win.

After the botches Romney made this week along with Ryan's moronic statements. You can't possibly think he will get voted in...oh wait Bush....sigh it's possible.

Re: Election Discussion Thread
Obama is probably going to win. But Republicans will have majorities in Senate and House so it's not like anything will get done anyways.

Re: Election Discussion Thread
Can I ask a question to you?
I get the impression that a lot of people will vote for Romney only because Obama did such a bad job the last 4 years.
I find this suprising, because Obama had to follow Bush. He gets criticized for a lot of things Bush did not Obama.
Also the Senate is republican so everything Obama comes up with (health care plans) gets shot down, and then you complain that he did nothing for you the last 4 years. Isn't that a little bit hypocritical?
I am not a US citizen, I'm from Europe. But always have been interested in US elections, the dynamics I find them fascinating.

Repubs and Dems
They are out for themselves, not the people.

As a student of American politics, you'll notice the key here is that the American public has a case of nigh-terminal ADD, coupled with short term memory loss.
They forget what each party accomplishes or fails at within the span of less than 3 years with the rare exceptions coming when you have candidates / incumbents that are especially gifted at holding their attention. All issues MUST be resolved within 3 to 3.5 years or you're in danger of being tossed out on your ear.
Here's the kicker, they actually expect the candidates to DO what they PROMISE on the campaign trail! Can you imagine?
So let's review: ADD + Memory Loss + Lack of Patience = Modern American Politics

Keynesian economic policies, please Obama would be right wing here in Canada. Here In Canada we are doing just fine with a great banking system that would of saved you from the problems you are having now. Yes total Keynesian economics would send any country to the poorhouse but Obama is far away from doing that. If healthcare, cheaper education and having control over your banking system to make it much safer would send you to the poorhouse then why did Canada's economic growth keep going after the recession instead of falling into a decline?

Re: Election Discussion Thread
Mitt Romney's campaign is becoming equatable to a jobber with no entrance music and a generic name about to get his ass kicked. It's becoming sad to watch.

Re: Election Discussion Thread
His funniest moment was when he went on the Spanish show and the makeup people made him extra brown. All I can say is that I hope that BET doesn't invite him for an appearance.
