What the fuck is wrong with pro-lifers?

The HB 259 bill, commonly referred to as the "fetal pain" bill by most Georgia Republicans and the "women as livestock" bill by everyone else, has recently been passed in Georgia. Under this new law, it requires all women to give birth to fetuses with abnormalities (including those that are stillborn) after 20 weeks, which is the maximum limit to seek an abortion. It garnered national attention after Republican statesman Terry England compared pregnant women with stillborn babies to livestock on his farm, specifically cows and pigs. It does not take rape or incest into consideration, neither does it exempt issues with the mother (such as mental illness or ectopic pregnancies). According to England, "if farmers have to “deliver calves, dead or alive,” then a woman carrying a dead fetus, or one not expected to survive, should have to carry it to term."

If this makes its seem like Rep. England and the rest of the representatives looked beyond their cows and pigs and recognized women as capable, full-thinking human beings, think again: HB 954 excludes a woman’s “emotional or mental condition,” which means women suffering from mental illness would be forced to carry a pregnancy to term. It also ignores pregnant women who are suicidal and driven to inflict harm on themselves because of their unwanted pregnancy.

In order for a pregnancy to be considered “medically futile,” the fetus must be diagnosed with an irreversible chromosomal or congenital anomaly that is “incompatible with sustaining life after birth.” The Georgia “fetal pain” bill also stipulates that the abortion must be performed in such a way that the fetus emerges alive. If doctors perform the abortion differently, they face felony charges and up to 10 years in prison. Given all this, the so-called compromise suddenly does not look like much of a bargain.

For anti-choice lawmakers, it is an item of faith that fetuses feel pain at 20 weeks. But scientists disagree. Reviews of all existing medical evidence have found that fetuses have not developed the neurological structures to feel pain until at least 25 weeks, and likely not until 28 weeks, in the third trimester.

Although Roe v. Wade set the precedent for abortion to be legal up to 24 weeks, state legislatures continue to ram through restrictive anti-choice laws. Georgia will join six other states with fetal pain restrictions—Nebraska, Indiana, Idaho, Kansas, Oklahoma and Alabama. North Carolina prohibits abortion after 20 weeks.

I'm just struck at an awe. Seriously, what the fuck is wrong with some of these people?

I need more scientific information before I can make a real judgement. Though I'm pretty sure that a fetus is sentient and self aware. Therefore I think abortions should be illegal.

In Sanskrit there is a term called "dharma," which is loosely translated into "religion." In actuality, it means rightful duty, but Hinduism doesn't have a specific definition of "rightfulness;" hence, "dharma" is something that can be accepted as rightful duty depending on the time, circumstance, and the modalities involved.

Life is such a vague component of the universe; it's erroneous to define life within certain boundaries that are built by fellow humans. If the entity of God, who is projected as a superior being, comes around and amends such laws, I would find it acceptable. But the mere assertion of some group of humans deciding human activities for the larger and more powerful base is felony at its finest.

In essence, I don't believe in right or wrong. A thing can never be right or wrong, if you review it in isolation. The constant factor is only within the limits of human functions and not humanity as a whole.

Only god more than likely isn't real. He isn't coming to amend any laws and so instead of sitting around waiting for eternity we need to use science to determine the law for ourselves.

Some not most. By that virtue, abortion would be illegal everywhere. And not just lab science or biology. But social sciences and whatnot.

How many pro lifers here masturbate, or lie about masturbation? Or have premarital sex? Use prophylactics? Or if you are married, have sex for shits and giggles? How about oral or anal sex? All of these are wasted opprotunities for life, and are in fact sins in the eyes of god.

I also believe if you force someone to conceive a child, there should be prenatal assistance so the child and the mother have the best chance at a healthy birth. But there are some who are so completely ironical they would pass a no abortion bill at the same time not provide the best scenario of a healthy birth.

YES!!!

In the eyes of God, no sin is greater than the other. In the eyes of God, stealing money from the U.S. Treasury and stealing a piece of bubble gum from Walgreens is the same thing. It's stealing. Period.

Most conservatives are such hypocrites. Esp. those who are pro-life.

I think Bill Maher said it best. People such as these have a neurological disorder.

I think I should be pro-life. I feel guilty whenever I get my period. All those wasted eggs could have been people!!! I'm a murderer!!!

Also, I feel this thread is incomplete without this:

I have a twisted argument for right wingers.

"If you are voting against abortion, you are letting the people that you despise procreate. A testimony to your own stupidity."

Seriously though, if you don't want to have to complain about people that have a hard time enjoying the life you force them to live, how can you be pro this?

Complete devil's advocacy here because I am in the middle on abortion. I just don't get either side. An abortion depends on the situation.

Speaking as a white male, I firmly believe white males have no fucking business telling women what to do with shit that's growing inside them. And yet, that is how our government works: old white men shoving platitudes up women's vaginas.

I can give you the phone number to several all female organizations against abortion.

Micro-evolution is a made up word used by creationists to pretend they are still right.

It's like me claiming that a chihuahua isn't a dog cause it's too small, no matter how much I hate the breed or say how it shouldn't be a pet, the sad fucking truth is it is still a dog at the end of the day.

So at the end of the day micro-evolution is still evolution.

Wrong. There's even a secular wikipedia article on it, lol.

Anything within the realm of science is something we can test, repeat, and observe (demonstrate). If we can't do this, it's no longer science but religion. You're relying on the unseen (billions of years ago).

Micro-evolution is simply speciation/variation within the same biological Family.

Macro-evolution is theorizing that these tiny changes within a biological Family will eventually lead to that Family changing into a different Family of animals.

That's why Evolution is called a Theory.

I'm too tired to give you a full definition of it but I will say this: Theories are theories because they haven't been proven nor been demonstrated using the scientific method. That is why evolution is not a fact, but a theory.

Grabbed from dictionary.com

Theory, hypothesis are used in non-technical contexts to mean an untested idea or opinion. A theory in technical use is a more or less verified or established explanation accounting for known facts or phenomena: the theory of relativity. A hypothesis is a conjecture put forth as a possible explanation of phenomena or relations, which serves as a basis of argument or experimentation to reach the truth: This idea is only a hypothesis.

The bolded actually defines scientific theory, while the next sentence is what uneducated think a theory is. There is a big difference between the two. The scientific method exists for a reason, basically to stop people from just making shit up. Some mook didn't just say "Hey, evolution is the answer and that's that!" Its a long process. That's why people disregard the bible, cause it's actually a book written by a mook(s) that says "Hey, creationism is the answer and that's that!"

Would you rather have some bad ass kids running around instead? I'm against people using abortions exclusively as a form of birth control when there are multiple forms of birth control out there. However, if it's a last resort then I don't have a problem with it. Either way, it's not my business so I don't really care.

This issue will be nonexistent once they make birth control for men which may happen in the next 10 years.

These complete cunts (that is the only word for them) don't understand that an unwanted baby (the ones most often "killed" by abortion), forced to live, is pretty much doomed to a life of crime; forced into theft, vandalism, and eventually murder. What seems more attractive to you? The prevention of a wasted life or the loss of five that may have meant something to the world?

Think. See it from the point of view of one like I, who has lost all faith in society and lives only to criticise.
