According to Nitemare (he's banned lol), the original Admin & leader of the site, this site was created in 1999, then rebooted in 2001. I found some old forum layouts of what this forum use to look like over the years. WF was originally known as WEForums (Wrestling Edge Forums. This forum was under the banner of the Wrestling Edge News Site), before VerticalScope purchased the site in 2006. Amish, who use to own WEForums, still owns Wrestling Edge.

So here's how the forum changed over the years:

2002: http://web.archive.org/web/20020428063319/http://www.weforums.com/

Early 2003: http://web.archive.org/web/20030202084054/http://www.weforums.com/forums/

Late 2003: http://web.archive.org/web/20030608090028/http://www.weforums.com/forums/index.php

Early 2005: http://web.archive.org/web/20050129091500/http://www.weforums.com/forums/

When WF & NoDQ forums merged together in later 2005: http://web.archive.org/web/20051013070736/http://www.weforums.com/

2006 (After the merge this layout became the default one, but it appears to have been an optional one for members before the merge too): http://web.archive.org/web/20060408003957/http://www.weforums.com/forums/
@Bubba T @Tyrion Lannister (Pyro) see your names on the bottom of the list since you were staff at the time.

Nov 2006 when WEF officially became wrestlingforum.com, the url change was also met with a forum layout change:

@Platt see your name at the bottom of the list.

I don't remember that Benoit sign at the bottom lasting long. And yeah, the yellow/gold was the original paid member/membership color.

Wow, I been here for 6 years and spent months lurking this site. And seeing the shit back then in the mid 2000's, is awesome to see. Nothing big changed in the sections. God I wish I was on the forums back in my high school years 2004-2008. It would have been fun to be part of the fuckery back then. :lmao Great stuff.

PS: I wish I joined this place instead of that shithole WWE Universe Forums in 2008, a month after graduation.

Thanks for showing us the memories of the site @Headliner :D

I don't remember having much of an issue with the server until VS brought the site. First thing they did was turn off search. We didn't have search for well over a year because they claimed it killed the server. Then they had the nerve to install crappy google search like that was suppose to make us happy.

This forum without search was not kewl.

The NoDQ merge lol. I actually made that happen. Was modding on wrestling-edge and admin or smod or wrestling mod I can't remember I bounced back and forth pending on what I wanted to do on NoDQ, which went from being the most popular wrestling board on the net to dwindling because of wrestling's decline and shitty guys up top making the community lame for the posters (kind of like what's happening to this board currently) so I got NoDQ's owner and Wrestling-Edge's owner (not Nitemare, I can't remember their name) to meet in an AIM chat. It never worked out though, as the two staffs hated each other. There'd be like open conflict between staff members on the forums all the time, and they'd ban people or close threads or something just to troll each other. NoDQ didn't last long after that, as they followed some idiot admin's advice to try and make it into more of a blogger type board and redesign everything, it was horrendous.

I originally started out in the old 2xzone wrestling forums...my God that shit was primitive compared to what is here now. A handful of us left and found our own private forum called Horsemen's Paradise, and that ran for a few years, as well as I used to frequent Yahoo's old chat rooms. There was some bullshit feud between the folks of WWF:1 and WWF:2. After those went down, I did a few years at SmartMarks Forum. When new leadership took over there and fucked that place up is when I found my way here.

To quote the Grateful Dead tune, "What a long, strange trip it's been."

I lurked mostly in the early days when I signed up... but it still brings back a lot of memories. I think the only other forum that I was part of longer, in any way, was gamefaqs, when it wasn't an absolutely raging dumpster fire. I would have said 2 a few months ago, but Bioware up and killed their forum, the bastards.

Just seeing the Mysterio banner is... nostalgic. I might spend all day in memory lane now.
