Please forgive me if you don't like the source. Regardless, you may want to take four minutes of your time to have a brief watch. It appears the UN may be scheming against free Internet again.

Thoughts?

The UN is beholden to the OIS (Organization of Islamic States) bloc because sheer numbers (51 member countries or something) and because political correctness and to China because hey China is the wave of the future and technocratic bureaucrats can't resist the wave of the future. Neither political correctness, the OIS nor China is interested in having the internet be a place where information flows freely. So, yeah, the UN is definitely going to be scheming how to censor and otherwise control the internet.

In summary, at what it means is that the Obama administration slipped in a little bit of legislation that is going to give the UN power to censor the Internet. All previous attempts have failed so apparently what this means is that they're trying a new way to get it done.

Edit: this is actually pretty fucking complicated compared to the last attempts. I'm not sure even I explained it right. I'm sure somebody else could probably say it better. The point is we don't want to end up censor like China etc... So to summarize the approach is a bit sneaky.

Way I see it, since it was exposed that Allied 'powers' had been using the most popular browsers, cable companies & email/media firms (like Yahoo) to eavesdrop/monitor activities on public & governments it made sense to keep it free for users to readily use it as abundantly as we all do(then when exposed used the reason as 'terrorism' - that go to word for situations where no other reason would be acceptable). Now the current trend is to lessen where legally possible to make up for the lack of 'eavesdropping' available.
There has been attempts though to gain a legal right to do what was freely done before Snowden's revelations but so far they've been upheld.

So you dislike infowars even though they have the same report that you just gave me. So they sell products. So does everybody big freaking deal. I don't buy that shit so I don't know what you want me to tell you about it. I really hope you don't think Trump knows what he's talking about there though. But this is all just a distraction from the main point of the OP. Why dwell on one of the many stupid things Trump said long time ago when the shit is going down right now? If you like Vanity Fair more power to you but to me it's just the same as the other 99% of trump bashing Hillary loving media.

The idea of the Internet is to be able to look at anything we want for information. The problem is, just because I look at something doesn't mean I am wrapped up in it. Example...couple of years ago my older daughter was looking for a 3-D project to make for her history class. We did it on the Gadsden flag (the "Don't Tread On Me" flag that has become a racist symbol from idiots who don't know the origins of the flag). It was a fairly simple, easy-to-do project. '

The logic, however, behind those who aren't in the know floors me. Just because I was doing research on the flag doesn't make me a racist. Ditto with someone who wants to learn about Cuba and reviews websites on tourism, etc...that doesn't make them a Communist.

Sounds like a solution in search of a problem to me.
