Apparantely this Sunday in certain cities there will be a movement called Go Topless Day. The purpose is:

"to promote gender equality. the event encourages women to go topless in public, and men to cover their chests by wearing brassieres or bikinis."
source: wikipedia.

The event was founded in 2007 by Go Topless, which is a organization in Nevada and has been held since 2008 near the day of August 26, which is Women's Equality Day.

Some states have banned this practice such as:

Oregon
Idaho
Montana
Utah
Wyoming
South Dakota
North Dakota
Nebraska
Kansas

I kinda agree with what the women are saying. If you are a fat male or a male with sagging tits, you should not be allowed to walk around without a shirt on. That shit is nasty. I'm up for bras for men if you're fat.

And btw, if you are a male who lives in one of the places who are allowing women to go topless on Sunday, :cudi don't be a pervert and keep your dicks under control. They're doing this for a movement.

Women get to go topless and men have to cover up...that sounds suspiciously like NOT equality and more like female empowerment. Were it equality, they'd treat men and women...you know, EQUALLY. BOTH can go topless, not just one. This is just sticking it to men and letting women get what the feel owed. Which is fine, but don't try to label it under something noble when what you're doing clearly isn't. Somehow I think if the day was called "Yay women and fuck men" day, it wouldn't go over as well, yet that's essentially what this is. So they feel the need to tack it onto something like gender equality so that on the surface, it sounds alright and worthy of support, when their true motives are much more nefarious. The dishonesty inherent in that is repulsive enough, let alone the fact that its just another chapter of the endless "women should run the world, men are pigs" saga.

I would imagine that it's designed to highlight the current disparity between the two. The end goal being that women also be allowed to go topless, not that women be allowed to go topless and men be forced to cover up.

They're doing it because they're stupid.

Why shouldn't I go topless whenever I feel like it? There's nothing scary or dirty about tits.

I don't see any reason men or women need to cover up; if someone is "too fat" or "too ugly" for you, or you can't see a naked body without getting upset or being unable to control your impulse to grab some titties (or rub some guy's abs), that's your problem, not anyone else's. I don't see why a special day is required for this either - if folks want to take their shirts off for whatever reason then they should do it and people should stop making a big deal out of nothing.

Some "feminists" are only interested in gaining the kind of control over men than men have historically had over women. They're not interested in equality. They just want power and control. Those are the ones to be despised and ridiculed. Real feminists are the ones who simply want equal rights to men. Those are the ones to be respected. Yes, there really is a difference between the two. Real feminists generally don't get a lot of media attention because they aren't out there pulling publicity stunts to draw attention to themselves. They're usually the ones fighting behind the scenes to make sure women aren't treated like 2nd class citizens. I have all the respect in the world for any group of people who are fighting to achieve equality, because equality is an admirable goal. If your goal is to gain power over your oppressors, then you're just as bad as them, because you're not actually solving the problem of people being oppressed, you're just switching the oppressor and the oppressed.

If you're one of the jackasses who thinks it's the responsibility of women to cover themselves because men get aroused when they see breasts, then you can fuck off. That's the same logic as men who blame the woman for being raped because she was too scantily clad. It's also the same logic as jihadists who force women to completely cover themselves when in public. They say it's not the responsibility of men to control themselves when they see the bodies of women, that it's the responsibility of the woman to cover herself, so the man doesn't get aroused and lose control. Here's a newsflash for ya, you fucking neanderthal, it's your responsibility to control your reaction. Either join the rest of evolved humanity or go back to the fucking cave where you belong.

When you wear a certain type of clothing, it elicits a certain type of reaction. When women wear something like this...

The reaction is typically :drool from men, since they are driven by testosterone. Do we all get grabby? No. That doesn't mean we don't feel aroused. You don't like it? Then go to the beach and wear this:

And suddenly, you won't get invitations and looks that you don't want. Simple, really.

I'm not blaming women. A lot of guys do need to keep their behavior in check and fail to do so. That's on them. What I'm sick of is this idea that poor, frail little women are always getting victimized by strong, brutish neanderthals called men and its up to said men to change everything about themselves that women don't like. You want true equality? Then its time for women to start taking responsibility for the parts they have to play in these situations. That means, in other words, that if you walk around wearing clothes designed to elicit a sexual reaction, and when people see them, they become aroused, don't suddenly act offended. The entire point of your clothes was to get that reaction, and you got it. Don't try to make yourself a victim and paint someone else as the bad guy. You had a choice, it had certain consequences, and this was one of them. That's your fault.

Fun fact: the Go Topless Movement, does not support women being allowed to go topless and men having to put tops on.

They support equality, both men and women being allowed to be topless, as a 5 min google search clearly shows.

"We are a U.S.-based organization founded in 2007 by spiritual leader Rael and we claim that women have the same constitutional right that men have to go bare-chested in public.

"As long as men are allowed to be topless in public, women should have the same constitutional right. Or else, men should have to wear something to hide their chests" Rael, founder of GoTopless.org and spiritual leader of the Raelian Movement (rael.org)

FREE YOUR BREASTS! FREE YOUR MIND!"

Have fun with your straw man though.

Don't really see much of a problem with women going topless if they want to tbh. I've been going on holiday in Europe for years with topless women all over the beaches, I think mostly it's just that "old fashioned" people are embarrassed or see it as "indecent" (kind of stupid when they're ok for dudes to be shirtless though.) Let them do what they want, I can't see how it's harming anybody for a woman to go outside without a shirt on. (Though I'm sure the heavy right-wing WF contingent will have a million reasons that it's wrong LOL.)

What is the point? That feminists who like showing their boobs in public are completely missing the point?

Because they are and it's hilarious.

Definitely need to normalize the female body. So GO TOPLESS day is good with me.

Where is this "men have to wear shirts" stuff coming from? I might have missed this memo. If anyone is saying only women should go topless and men can't then LOL of course this is wrong. I'm under the impression that GO TOPLESS people want both genders to be able not have to wear shirts in public. A law banning tits is fucked up.

This has nothing to do with actually being able to go topless or normalizing the female body. This has everything to do with having yet another bullshit fight to legitimize the existence of their unnecessary movement.

Once it's legal, the vast majority of women won't go topless and even the ones that want to go topless won't. It's about power and the ability to exert control over the legal system. Women don't just change their own deeply held attitudes on the behest and urging of a few others. Feminism at most speaks for 5-10% of the entire population at any given time.

It didn't happen in Ontario when they made it legal in the 90's - and it won't happen anywhere else. The majority of women themselves are more modest than this small group thinks.

Lol do people not realise it's a stunt for the day and they're not going to be walking around with boobs out all the time?

The point is reversing the current situation - by 'demanding' that men cover up on the day while they go topless is trying to illustrate the point there is an inequality in the first place, as we know normally it's culturally acceptable for guys to go topless but not girls. It's a symbol of the bigger picture people.

Showing men your ta tas in public isn't going to get gender equality :lol

It will brighten the day of some men so there's that at least.

#65 ·
1) They want to desexualise their bodies
2) They're sexually dissatisfied because men no longer find them sexual

Welcome to female logic. And to think the most sexually frustrated of them all is gonna become our president.

I'm an atheist, but god help us
Dont think that for a minute.

Hillary has plenty of eager bitches ready to satisfy her.

I have no problem with the idea of women going around topless. :evil

Unfortunately, our society (at least in America) is so focused on sexualization that there is no way this wouldn't be viewed completely out of context. Hell, I think I am about as open minded as anyone out there, and if I saw this my first thought would be, "Hey, look at the tits!".

I feel dirty and corrupted now.

Yes, because considering something sexual is innately immoral or a bad thing.

Trust me, you want women to feel sexy, look sexy and be seen as sexy. Until and unless you want societies that are no longer interested in healthy sex and sexual reproduction.

Sexual fetishization is sliding scale that goes upwards and men get desensitized to what they consider erotic. If you want men to stop considering breasts sexual, then that's fine ... but then the problem with that is you have a society of men that have harder time than ever getting aroused when it's actually time to be sexually functional. You can't have it both ways.

People who tell women to stop breastfeeding in public can fuck off. That's completely different. However, this idea that we should stop considering boobs sexy is detrimental to healthy sex overall. In fact, it's likely to have the same effect that porn addiction does. If you don't consider a sexual part of a woman's body sexual, then what the fuck helps you get it up when you need it to do so?

Yes, because considering something sexual is innately immoral or a bad thing.
I didn't mean that. I just meant that sexuality is so taboo in this country that many people can't be mature enough just to enjoy another person's body without making everything all about sex. I'm not going to say I don't like seeing breasts, but I am not going to lose my mind either. But there are plenty of people who, in such a situation, see a naked (or topless) body and instead of enjoying the beauty of it, only focus on what part of it they might get some satisfaction from. Sometimes a naked body is just a naked body, and should be allowed to be so.

It's pretty apples to oranges between the two. "Male breasts" are hardly something that's sexualized, females generally don't find that attractive or are predisposed to finding that attractive. Female breasts are something all straight men find attractive ,it is literally ingrained into male brains, you can't just "stop" it because a minority of women are complaining about what turns men on
